| Nicole Kidman in Giambattista Valli at the HFAs: twee or lovely? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I always forget that the Hollywood Film Awards are a thing now. Studios really hope that the Hollywood Film Awards are the ?official kickoff? of the Oscar season, that people are really paying attention right now to the potential Oscar races. Sorry, guys. I want to see Loving, of course, but almost everyone in the country is focused on politics right now so just chill out for another week! Which is basically what the attendees said too ? most of them used their speeches to talk politics anyway. So, these are some photos from last night?s Oscar-season-kickoff awards show, the Hollywood Film Awards.
Nicole Kidman attended the event with her Lion costar Dev Patel, who still looks really hot with his beard. Nicole wore Giambattista Valli, and it?s a good example of one of my consistent problems with Kidman?s style in her 40s ? I find it too twee for a woman her age. I know that comes across as ageist and maybe it is. But in her 30s, Nicole always looked sophisticated and gorgeous, but in her 40s, it?s like she?s reverted to the most girlish and ?young? looking frocks. Besides the dress, I really need Nicole to go for a darker hair color. The too-bleached look of her hair is blending with her Botox-frozen forehead and she looks like a wax figure.
Kate Hudson wore Marchesa. Is this the worst Marchesa ever? No. But it?s not good either. It looks like a cheap prom dress with some Christmas ornaments glued to the bust. The shoes were a terrible choice too!
Natalie Portman wore a simple black dress from The Row. I don?t know if this was supposed to be a maternity dress or if Natalie just wore it because it was so stretchy. But it?s a cute dress. I wouldn?t mind owning this and I?m not pregnant.
Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves. Camila wore Georges Hobeika. It?s pretty-ish. It looks comfortable.
Naomie Harris in Gucci. I love the idea of a silver tuxedo, but the execution on this? not so much. Wouldn?t this look so much better without the black pants cuff?
Despite the fact that Hugh Grant impregnates women constantly, he seems to be quite official with Anna Eberstein, his date last night. I think they?ve been official for more than a year or so.

| Nicole Kidman in Armani Prive at the UK 'Lion' premiere: amazing or meh' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

First thing?s first: Dev Patel looks really great these days, right? Right. While the puffiness of his mustache is questionable, overall he looks really good with facial hair, and I?m enjoying his longer hair overall. These are photos from last night?s BFI London Film Festival premiere of Lion, the true story of an Indian man who was adopted (when he was a child) by an Australian couple. The kid grows up and wants to find his birth family, including a long-lost brother. As I?ve said in previous posts, I?m not really into the story and I think it looks overwrought.
Nicole Kidman plays Dev?s adoptative mother in the film and Rooney Mara plays his girlfriend. Thankfully, Rooney?s sour puss did not make an appearance at the LFF. Kidman and Patel paired up to walk the carpet together and they really looked lovely together. Not in a creepy way, just in a ?wow, they?re two tall, lanky, lovely people? way. The Sydney Morning Herald claims that Nicole?s performance could earn her an Oscar nomination. As I said, I?m not really feeling it and I doubt that a story about an Indian man would end up getting an Oscar nomination for the white actress, but stranger things have happened.
Nicole wore this Armani Prive Fall 2016 gown in black velvet. I was beyond thrilled when I realized this was velvet ? I love when it gets to be the time of year when velvet starts appearing on red carpets! This is good quality velvet too ? the whole look is very ?rich.? My only complaint about the dress is that the pockets feel oversized and unnecessary. The gown has a really high slit too, so Kidman was Jolie-Legging all over the place. Also: Nicole?s face looks pretty good, right? I?m sure she?s still Botoxing and stuff, but maybe she has a new guy because it doesn?t look overdone.

| Nicole Kidman in caped McQueen at the Met Gala: fabulous or fug? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

People were going crazy for Nicole Kidman?s Alexander McQueen gown last night on Twitter and on E!. I thought it moved very well, meaning it looked great in motion, on camera. But in photos? it seems sort of flat, right? Don?t get me wrong, I love this version of Kidman, mostly because I absolutely loathed the frilly/lacy style she was doing several years back. It felt like every other red carpet, Kidman was wearing something that looked like a doily. This is bold and interesting and the cape is fabulous. But? I don?t know, I still think she could do better. Also, the way the bust of the dress has been cut, you can really tell that she?s got implants.

| Nicole Kidman works so she won't 'live vicariously through my daughters' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Nicole Kidman covers the new issue of Harper?s Bazaar UK (the March issue). While I?m not crazy about the newsstand cover (that red jacket is meh), the subscriber?s cover (at the end of the post) is really beautiful. As for what Kidman is promoting? I barely know at this point. She was getting magazine covers throughout 2015 to promote Queen of the Desert, Secret In Their Eyes and other films, but some of those films didn?t even get released. Queen of the Desert got pushed to March of this year. Secret In Their Eyes is being released in the UK at the end of February. The point is that she?s promoting something, which will be out at some point. The point of Nicole?s Bazaar interview is that she loves to work and she doesn?t believe in being a stay-at-home mom. Some highlights:
Saying no to stay-at-home motherhood: ?I don’t want to be the mother who lives vicariously through my daughters, so I’m trying to balance it. There was a period where I didn’t do anything, and my mum said, ‘I really think you need to get back and do something?. I want to be around them, I’m the happiest when I’m around them. It’s that simple. But for me to completely give up doing any of this, what would I do artistically??
She believes she conceived Sunday Rose after bathing in a sacred watering hole in Australia: But she said her ‘scientific and agnostic mother’ doesn’t share her belief. ?She says, ?How did I have this changeling child that believes all these things?? But I spent my life trying to get pregnant and I went into the waters up in Kununurra, and suddenly I got pregnant, and so did all the other women who bathed in it on the film.?
What she calls daughters Faith & Sunday: ?The Kittens? because of their ?purring, affectionate natures? They snuggle and they’re very warm.?
[From The Daily Mail]
Before we ever dreamed of Beyonce?s collapsing, pillowy bump, a lot of people thought Nicole faked her pregnancy with Sunday. It was a similar sort of situation with Beyonce ? there were a lot of bump-conspiracies, and Nicole ?lost the baby weight? and got back into her white jeans within a few weeks of giving birth. But if she wants to keep telling the story about the sacred waters, sure. It?s none of my business. Apparently, she also told the magazine that she would love to adopt another child but she thinks ?there’s only so much time.?
As for what she says about working and not wanting to be a stay-at-home mom? I get it. And I even sort of agree with her, as only a child-free woman could. I have no dog in this hunt, but it seems like Nicole is just talking about her experience as a mother, not every woman?s experience. And it also seems like she?s seen women who give up their careers and pour their entire lives into their children, and she?s seen that it doesn?t always end well.

| Nicole Kidman in colorful Gucci at the SAGs: lovely, fun or just awful? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I had a moment while watching the SAG red carpet show where I thought ?Oh, maybe Nicole Kidman looks sort of normal?? But no, it?s pretty much the same as it?s been for years. Nicole wore this colorful Gucci gown to the SAGs because she was ? no joke ? nominated for that terrible Grace of Monaco movie. Even Kidman seemed to know it was a joke too, at least I hope she did. So, let me say some nice stuff about her? while she?s still Botoxing and filler-ing, it doesn?t look as intense as it once was. And I feel like Nicole was trying to have fun with this Gucci and that works in her favor ? she seems lighter and happier. Something mean: this dress is kind of fug.
Queen Latifah won a SAG for her role in Bess. She?s always so lovely, and while I don?t think her Michael Costello gown is really notable, she looks pretty and pulled-together. She should buy this gown and re-wear it, actually. It?s really flattering.
Priyanka Chopra in Monique Lhuillier. Was it smart to match her lipstick exactly to the shade of Pink in her bridesmaid?s dress? Hm. She?s a beautiful woman, but she might need a new stylist.
Julia Louis Dreyfus also wore Monique Lhuillier. Totally boring dress, but now that she?s presented with Keegan Michael Key, I really want them to work together.

| Nicole Kidman in plunging Louis Vuitton at the UNICEF Ball: pretty or tragic? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from last night?s UNICEF Ball in LA. David Beckham was being honored with the Humanitarian Leadership Award for his years of work with UNICEF. The event was pretty well-attended, as you can see, and the event was sponsored by Louis Vuitton and as such, most of the women wore LV. Like Nicole Kidman up there. Kidman used to be such a major style star, but over the past five years or so, her style has been all over the place. I?m not really a fan of this shiny blue dress with the plunging V-neck. It could have been sexy on another woman, maybe? but on Nicole, it looks awful. Her hair looks stiff and terrible, her face is immobile, and so the dress reads as ?1980s game show hostess.? Like, Vanna White would wear this.
Here?s David Beckham, the man of the night, looking lovely.
Miranda Kerr in Louis Vuitton. Out of all the LV looks last night, this was actually one of my favorites. I know she just wanted to show off her legs, but this was just one of the best looks.
Selena Gomez?s Louis Vuitton was my other favorite LV look. It?s not that I absolutely love this dress, I just think the laser-cut leather looks surprisingly cool. Selena surprisingly pulls this off really well.
Jennifer Connolly in Louis Vuitton. Right up there with Kidman?s LV for the worst of the night. I don?t get how this is a style?
It wouldn?t be a red carpet if Mariah Carey wasn?t falling out of a dress. This is Louis Vuitton as well ? it?s okay. Meh. She looks like she?s lost some weight. Being in love with a billionaire will do that.
Angie Harmon in Naeem Khan. A pretty typical ball gown, but Angie wears it well. It reads as classic and a little boring. If I?m nitpicking, I would say that she should have done her hair differently. Something less poofy.
Michelle Rodriguez in a simple red gown? she looks nice. Also not groundbreaking, but a decent look.

| Nicole Kidman didn't attend her daughter's wedding but she's 'very happy for Bella' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Nicole Kidman arriving at and leaving the Noel Coward Theater in London in the past week. She?s been starring in the play Photograph 51 since early/mid-September. Kidman loves being in London and she starred in a handful of plays on the London stage. What?s weird is that even though Kidman was working in London (and has been for a month), she seems to have zero contact with her daughter Isabella Cruise. Despite tabloid reporting to the contrary, Kidman was not invited and did not even know about Isabella Cruise?s wedding. Isabella got married on September 18, and while it?s still up in the air about Tom Cruise?s presence (?) at the wedding, the wedding was totally a Scientology-heavy affair and Tom paid for the whole shin-dig at the Dorchester Hotel. You can see some photos of the wedding here at the Daily Mail ? the DM claims that Isabella ?banned? Nicole. So Nicole had to get her publicist to release some info to People Mag.
Although Nicole Kidman was not present when her daughter Isabella Cruise married British I.T. consultant Max Parker on Sept. 18, she is thrilled Bella has found true love.
“She is very happy for Bella,” a source close to Kidman, 48, tells PEOPLE.
The actress did not know about the wedding beforehand ? reports that she helped plan it are inaccurate, the source says ? but only wants what’s best for Bella.
“She, like all mothers, wants her child to be happy, and it surely seems Bella is very happy,” says the source.
The newlyweds, who married at London’s Dorchester Hotel after dating for less than a year, wanted a low-key and intimate celebration. Bella’s father, Tom Cruise, and older brother, Connor, were also absent from the festivities, although Cruise, 53, footed the bill.
[From People]
I do feel sorry for Nicole. We could say ?well, she could have done more to maintain contact with Connor and Isabella,? but the truth of the matter is that Nicole was pretty lucky to get herself out of that situation unscathed. In fact, I think leaving Connor and Isabella with Tom was one of the big reasons why Nicole was able to get out. I also think that Nicole believes that if she doesn?t come out, guns blazing against CoS, that maybe one day her kids will realize that she stayed silent as a way to protect them, so they would come back to her at some point. Anyway? God, I can?t even imagine not inviting parents/family to a wedding. Then again, I can?t imagine getting married at 18 either.

| Nicole Kidman: 'My husband and I never text each other. We never do' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some assorted photos of Nicole Kidman in NYC, following a performance of her play Photograph 51, plus some photos of Nicole in Milan for an Omega event. Nicole has been a brand ambassador for Omega for years, and to promote some new Omega product, Nicole sat down with DuJour Magazine ? you can read the full piece here. Much of it is boring, I have to say. I like Nicole and I wish her well, but I wish she would drop some juicier quotes during her promotional tours these days. Here are some of the more interesting highlights from this piece:
What she learned from her partnership with Omega: ?There was a time when women weren?t encouraged to wear watches, and there was even a time when the only way they really wore them was hidden in necklaces or underneath things. I love watches, especially those from the 1950s. I?ve always collected vintage jewelry and when I started working with the brand, I asked if they had vintage pieces and they did.?
She?s punctual: ?I?m very punctual. I so appreciate punctuality. It?s such a great thing when people actually show up on time and run accordingly. Being on time is a form of respect and good manners.?
She meditates: ?With one minute [of free time], I?ll daydream or meditate. I love just sitting quietly meditating. With an hour free, it depends. I love getting down on the floor and playing with my kids. I read an article that says it?s so important to actually get down on their level and play with them for an hour a day. So I do that, and I love that. It brings back the child in me.?
Her relationship with the internet, technology: ?I have four children, so to stay in touch with them is very important. I?m definitely engaged in it but I don?t let it rule my life. My husband and I never text each other. We never do. Once in a blue moon, we?ll text. But mainly we say, ?I want to hear your voice.? That?s very unusual but we?ve been together for 10 years. We started like that and we haven?t changed it. We don?t email each other either. So it?s about trying to keep it as intimate and personal as possible.?
[From DuJour Magazine]
Oh, I didn?t know that women used to be discouraged from wearing watches!! That?s so weird. That makes me want to wear a watch, although I haven?t worn one in years. I honestly hate watches (for me, I don?t care if anyone else wears one). I?m on the computer for hours and I hate having anything on my wrist, honestly. As for her comments about technology and texting? I?m not much of a texter, which makes me an old fart, I?m sure. So I understand what she?s saying about it just being easier to call Keith rather than text or email him. I also like that she says that she has four kids? because sometimes it seems like she forgets about Connor and Isabella (although to be fair, Connor and Isabella were brainwashed into believing Nicole was and is a suppressive person).

| Nicole Kidman covers Vogue, says she didn't cooperate with HBO's 'Going Clear' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Nicole Kidman covers the August issue of Vogue (US). I think Kidman is now woman with the most American Vogue covers of all time? Does that sound right? It sounds right to me. And for sure, Kidman will probably go down in fashion history as one of the best red carpet divas of her era, but I haven?t loved Nicole?s style in years. Basically, everything post-Keith Urban has been terrible-to-boring. Still, Anna Wintour loves Kidman, so Vogue gave her this Peter Lindbergh-shot, Queen of the Desert-themed editorial (Kidman stars in Queen of the Desert, about the life of Gertrude Bell, and the film doesn?t have a release date as of yet). Kidman is striving to look mid-30s, I think. She?s 48. You can read the Vogue interview here. Some highlights:
She?s going back to London to do a play, Photograph 51: ?Keith and I always say, ?We?re doing a play,? ?We?re doing a tour,? because it is like that?the family has to do it together? Even Keith was like, ?Why are we doing this?? I need to now push myself into a place I haven?t been for a long time.?
On Keith: ?I looked up at him at one point and I saw his tattoos and his foot going, and he had the guitar, and I was like, ?God, I love that man. I?m so glad I?m in this world.? ?
Whether she met Keith at just the right time: ?Oh, no. I wish I could have met him much earlier and had way more children with him. But I didn?t. I mean, if I could have had two more children with him, that would have been just glorious. But as Keith says, ?The wanting mind, Nicole. Shut it down.??
The paparazzi, social media: ?We?re the generation that got to duck all of that. When I was with Tom, I don?t remember paparazzi sitting outside our house . . . not like now. This is different.?
Meeting Mia Wasikowska: ?I said, ?You call me anytime. Anytime you need to ask something.? That?s probably my maternal side, but it?s also a responsibility in the industry. It?s a tough world now. It always was, but it?s particularly tough now.?
Motherhood: ?I?ve experienced adoption. I?ve experienced birth with a genetic child. I?ve experienced surrogacy with a genetic child. I speak openly about it because so many of my friends are discussing it. It?s important for other women to go, ?I get it!? ?
[From Vogue]
The only thing I really learned from this Vogue article is that she?s doing a play in London. I didn?t know that. The rest was pretty much a rehash of every Kidman interview from the past few years. She and Keith are happy. She adores her two young children and she doesn?t barely mentions her two older kids, Isabella and Connor. Vogue does note that they asked Kidman about the Church of Scientology and the HBO documentary Going Clear and Vogue says Kidman ?declines to discuss? whether CoS ?actively tried to break up Cruise and Kidman?s marriage.? Vogue also notes: ?Kidman passed on the opportunity to speak to the makers of the film and has consistently turned away requests to comment out of respect for her children with Cruise.? Meaning Connor and Isabella are still very much part of CoS and they probably never see Nicole because she has been deemed the #1 Suppressive Person.

| Nicole Kidman in Nina Ricci at 'Women In Film' event: Botoxy or beautiful' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

When Nicole Kidman stepped out for the CMTs last week, I thought she looked crazy-Botoxed. Like, almost unrecognizable. But she made an appearance at last night?s Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards, and she looked almost normal-ish, for her. Of course I still think she?s ?Toxed and fillered, but it amazes me how radically different she can look from week to week. Nicole wore Nina Ricci Fall 2015 for WIF. The shoes are Brian Atwood. Note: The Daily Mail points out that Nicole had a makeup fail on the red carpet. The problem is the same as always ? hi-def makeup on the red carpet.
At the event, Nicole briefly spoke to E! News about her upcoming birthday plans and anniversary plans.
Nicole Kidman has a lot going on in the next couple of weeks. Not only does she turn 48 on June 20, but her and Keith Urban’s ninth wedding anniversary is June 25. I caught up with the Oscar winner tonight at the Women in Film’s Crystal + Lucy Awards and asked how she planned to celebrate the two milestones.
“Keith is doing a gig so I’m going with him,” Kidman said of their anniversary. “I’ll be dancing on the side of the stage and kissing him when he comes off.”
No big dinner plans? “He’s going to organize that,” Kidman said.
As for her bday, Kidman revealed, “I don’t really celebrate a big birthday thing. I always say I get enough attention so I don’t need anymore. I just like to have my family really close and snuggle.”
[From E! News]
Of course she doesn?t celebrate birthdays. She just rubs virgin?s blood and dove feathers on her face by the moonlight and she calls upon the Goddess to stop the aging process. Sigh? I?m just saying, I?d much rather look like Helen Mirren (who will turn 70 this summer) and have fun rather than look like Nicole at 48.
