Nicole Kidman has a new interview with You Magazine, a British site/publication, all to promote her role in Big Little Lies 2. She?s basically the only one in BLL2 worth a damn, but I guess that?s something making a second series about these often unlikeable characters who happen to be women and moms. That?s the whole point women are different and they behave differently and sometimes appallingly. Male characters are allowed to show that kind of unlikeability, so why not women? That being said, I wish Laura Dern?s character would fall off a cliff, and if I never see Shailene Woodley & her bangs trauma dance in the surf while listening to Sufjan Stevens again, it will be too soon. But Nicole is killing it, as always, playing Celeste as a ball of neurosis, guilt, trauma, grief and recovery. Her earliest memories are of eating: ?It was of my parents throwing snowballs at each other in Washington and I must have been about two. I remember bending down with my mittens going, ?I shouldn?t be doing this,? and eating the snow?. I used to eat ants as well, but ants don?t taste good. Just sort of off. Just acidic-y. Kind of weird. And I?ll eat anything. I?ve eaten almost anything. Witchetty grubs, worms and insects?I?ll immediately get prickly if someone says, ?You have to do this.? I?m like, ?Mmm. Not sure I have to do anything.??
She has no vanity: ?When it comes to performance I have no vanity at all. Couldn?t care less.?
She says her 79-year-old mother Janelle is always on at her to ?make an effort? My mum is like, ?Do your hair, put on some make-up, stay in shape!? You know, she?s old school. My mum won?t FaceTime me without her make-up and her hair being done and I?m like, ?Oh, come on!??
Her miracle pregnancy at 40: ?A miracle? I was like, ?Your only job, Keith, is to get me the epidural if I scream for it.? And I screamed for it. I was doing OK and then I went, ?Oh boy!??
Faith got her through her grief for her father: ?[I was] down on my knees [with grief]. It was unbearable.? It was her faith, she says, that got her through. ?I was raised Catholic. Very Catholic. I have a strong belief in God and when I?ve experienced enormous loss is when it comes in powerfully?. I wrestle with things. I?m not just like, ?Oh, everything is perfect.? I wrestle and question and that?s just the nature of probably digging in and delving into things as well.?
Whether people are still interested in her marriage to Tom Cruise: ?I?m not sure if they are. I mean, I get asked about it but it?s one of a hundred questions and now I?ve just gone, ?It?s done. That was two decades ago, so there?s nothing more to be said.? It?s disrespectful to my husband now. It?s disrespectful to my ex-husband. I?ve always said: you don?t sit at a dinner party and discuss all your exes with your new partner there, who is then privy to all of it. It?s inappropriate.?
Her Nashville menagerie includes alpacas & cats: ?[The alpacas are] a little fierce. They make noises, they spit and they can bite. We have chickens as well. Alpacas, ten fish and two cats called Ginger and Snow? I really am a cat person. I?ve just got one of those carriers. Have you seen those? Those backpacks that you can put them in? Yeah, a cat carrier that?s a backpack and it has a window that they can peek out of and it?s got air and everything and they love it.? Is she saying that she takes them on hikes? ?Yeah. I was actually going to post a picture of it and then I thought, ?Oh, I don?t want to do that.? But I may still because it is really cute. They hop in. They can?t wait to get in.?

Cat protection agencies are already climbing up Nicole?s butt about putting her cats in a backpack-carrier and going hiking with them. I would say that it really depends on the cat some cats are little ragdolls who love to be carried around and wouldn?t mind riding in a backpack on a hike. Other cats would rather die than do something that uncool. Much like the women of Monterey, cats have all kinds of different personalities. But I truly got a kick out of the image of Nicole happily packing up her cats GINGER and SNOW to go on a hike with mom.

Here are some photos from this year?s Academy of Country Music Awards, which was held in Las Vegas. The ACMs got a good turnout this year, with all of modern country?s biggest stars coming out. The biggest stars? are Keith Urban, and his wife Nicole Kidman. Nicole has been going to country music awards shows for so many years, no one blinks when they see her now. But I blinked hard at this absolutely terrible Christopher Kane dress. It?s no secret that Nicole loves lace, and wears a lot of lace on the red carpet. But this is next-level doily. It?s SO BAD. And it?s so cheap-looking, like she got the sleeves at a costume store.
I recently read an interview with Kacey Musgraves and now I find myself liking her a little bit, where I used to find her sort of melodramatic and famewhore-y. I don?t know, is she cool? I can?t tell. Her suit is Christian Cowan and it?s not great.
In what world does Kelly Clarkson have access to better lace dresses than Nicole Kidman? This is Alexander McQueen and Kelly looks fantastic.
Why did Nikolaj Coster-Waldau attend the ACM Awards? Your guess is as good as mine.
It literally took me this long to realize that Luke Bryan thinks he?s Elvis.
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani were there, they just didn?t walk the carpet. Perhaps Blake got a heads up that Miranda was walking the carpet with her new husband. Gwen wore Azzaro and she looked like she was doing a Barbarella thing.

Life is nothing more than a Nicole Kidman Awards Season. Kidman Awards Seasons are forever they are always happening, and she is always enjoying herself. Nicole had about 23 films out in 2018, and so she?s being nominated here and there for various performances. So every single weekend, Nicole attends like five different events. Not every look is going to be a winner. While Nicole was on-trend for the night (so many black-and-white dresses, my God), this Armani was just kind ofmeh. I like that she went structural, but it still wasn?t that interesting. Her hair was a mess too.
Claire Foy in Balmain she won some special award for all of her work in TV and film, and she seemed slightly embarrassed to be there. I like that she just kept it simple with this jumpsuit ensemble.
I appreciate that there are several actors who are mixing it up sartorially this awards season. Timothee Chalamet is one, and Rami Malek is another. Rami isn?t just doing the standard dark-suits for low-key awards shows. Now, he?s showing off his dandy side. I like this pale Givenchy suit on him, but I think it might have looked better with a regular tie, rather than the bow tie.
I?m so glad Rami?s girlfriend and costar Lucy Boynton saved money by recycling her grandma?s shower curtain. This dress is Gucci. At least she stood out in the sea of black-and-white dresses, I guess.
Elizabeth Olsen in a velvet Alexandre Vauthier cocktail dress- I was surprised we didn?t see more short cocktail dresses at the Critics Choice, and this is a good one. It?s simple and I hope she gets to keep it, because she can wear it to anything. The problem here is her hair some women can pull off the bangs and fringe, and some can?t.

Nicole Kidman is on the cover of People Magazine, shes promoting her awards-baity role in Destroyer, where she plays a hard scrapple undercover agent. Shes only been nominated for a Globe so far, but well hear the Oscar nominations in two weeks. Its by the writers and director behind The Invitation, a solid horror thriller starring Logan Marshall-Green. (I really enjoyed The Invitation, its on Netflix!)
The first segment released from Nicoles interview focuses on her relationship with husband Keith Urban. I never thought that Nicole and Keith would still be together in 2019. Keith went to rehab just a few months after they got married in 2006 and there were some cheating rumors. They weathered that storm and are one of the most solid and sickly sweet celebrity couples. They give the impression that theyre really like that and it isnt a put on. Nicole told a story to People about the moment she knew Keith was the one, it was when he showed up with flowers at her doorstep at 5 am. I want to roll my eyes reading this, but thats my usual response whenever she talks about him.
Nicole Kidman had known Keith Urban for less than six months when she knew.
?It was my [38th] birthday, and he stood outside with gardenias at 5 a.m. on my stoop in New York,? Kidman, 51, tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week?s cover story.
?That is when I went, ?This is the man I hope I get to marry.?
Urban, 51, took her to Woodstock, N.Y., the site of the 1969 music festival, on a motorbike for a getaway (?My kind of guy!? she says), and she?s never looked back.
?It was pretty intense,? says Kidman, whose gritty drama Destroyer will be released wide this month. ?I believed by that point he was the love of my life. Maybe that?s because I am deeply romantic, or I?m an actress, or I have strong faith as well, but I just believed, ?Oh, okay, here he is.?
The two married a year later at a romantic wedding in Manly, Australia, and have since settled down in Nashville, where they?re happily raising their two daughters, Sunday, 10, and Faith, 8.
For his part, Urban was always equally smitten with his Oscar-winning bride. He tells PEOPLE, ?I could sum up Nic as a wife, mother and human being in three words: She?s all heart!?

Im glad theyre happy, I do buy them as a couple, and Im sorry for being such a cynical bitch. Ooh Ill tell you when I knew my boyfriend was a keeper. I dont believe in the one or soulmates or anything, but I knew after he also mildly disliked Blade Runner 2049. There were about five different movies, some of them critically acclaimed, which we both didnt like (Annihilation, Three Billboards, Hereditary) and others which were supposed to suck which we loved (The Meg). Have you ever gone to a movie which you either love or hate and your friend has the exact opposite reaction? It depends on how close you are with them, but that can really test a relationship. (I was mad at a friend who disliked The Incredibles 2. I take movies too seriously, dont I?)

Nicole Kidman was everywhere for Golden Globes weekend she wore a dramatic MiuMiu gown for the 8th AACTA International Awards, she attended the Gold Meets Golden party, she did the BAFTA Tea Party event on Saturday, and she generally looked like she?s been having a ball. The Kidman Renaissance is here, but it really never left. I mean, she had some ?off? years for a stretch of time, but Nicole really has been churning out interesting work on a consistent basis for decades. Nicole is nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama for her role in Destroyer, where she ?uglied up? to play a cop on the edge. She could conceivably get more nominations perhaps even an Oscar nomination for Destroyer, or for her supporting role in Boy Erased. We?ll see!
The E! Red Carpet for the Golden Globes starts at 6 pm with Ryan Seacrest (gross) and Giuliana Rancic (uh). NBC will also have a live red carpet show starting at 7 pm. The Globes start at 8 pm, and for the second year in a row, the Globes will be online too they will be livestreamed on the NBC app and on the NBC website. I have my fingers crossed that Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg will do a good job co-hosting together.

Nicole Kidman got totally cut off from her kids when Tom Cruise divorced her. David Miscavige, the head of Scientology, made it his mission to bring Cruise back into the fold and that involved convincing Cruise to dump Kidman. Cruise was out of Scientology for about ten years before this happened, according to two former parishioners and the Going Clear documentary. Cruise got pulled back in around 2001 and was convinced by Miscavige to dump Kidman, who was not a Scientologist. Their kids Conner and Isabella were just six and seven years old when that happened, they were going to Scientology school and they were brainwashed to believe that Nicole was a Suppressive Person and that they should shun their own mom. I cant imagine how heartbreaking it was for Kidman to lose contact with her kids and have them turned against her. Kidman has so far only talked about it in very vague terms. In a new interview she said very plainly that she accepts her childrens decision to be Scientologists, that theyre adults now, and that she believes in tolerance. Shes promoting the movie Boy Erased, where she plays the mom of a boy sent to gay conversion therapy.
?I?m very private about all that,? Kidman, 51, said about her kids, as reported by Australia?s Who Magazine. ?I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150% that I would give up my life for my children because it?s what my purpose is.?
She continued, ?They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it?s my job to love them.?
?I am an example of that tolerance and that?s what I believe ? that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I?m open here,? she said. ?I think that?s so important because if that is taken away from a child, to sever that in any child, in any relationship, in any family ? I believe it?s wrong. So that?s our job as a parent, to always offer unconditional love.?

Being Scientologist is all Conner and Bella know. If they decide to leave the cult now their rich dad will cut them off and theyll probably lose all their friends including their significant others. (Although Bella may have married a non-Scientologist.) Theyre famous so they may not get harassed as much as other defectors do. Thats one key difference between a cult and a religion. You can leave a religion without losing everything and everyone you know. That means that staying in Scientology is no way a choice, but I understand why Nicole framed it that way, and why shes so delicate in talking about it. I dont know if I agree with everything Nicole said, particularly about accepting your kids no matter what. There are certain situations where that does not apply. Its so sad to think about, but I have friends whose kids are addicts and they absolutely had to distance themselves and tell them theyre cut off unless they get sober.

I imagine that Nicole Kidman probably seems even more slender if you see her in person. She?s supposed to be quite tall, quite leggy and even in photos, she just seems like a wisp of a lady. It wouldn?t surprise me at all if she was one of those ?I?ve been on a diet since I was 16? people. But just how extreme is her diet? I don?t know. When you think of it, she never really did bandwagon on any popular Hollywood diet, at least publicly. Maybe that?s because this whole time, she was just eating very, very small portions, at least according to Star:
Nicole Kidman insists on being served only 50% of her food when she?s out to dinner.
?No matter what she orders, she asks the waiter to bring only her half of it,? tattles a tipster. ?It could be a cup of soup she?ll still ask to have it cut down. She thinks restaurant portions are way too big, so this helps her avoid overeating.?
But don?t expect Nicole to ask for a doggie bag for the rest!
?People have asked why she doesn?t just get the whole meal and leave half of it, but she insists that would be wasteful.?

You know what?s also wasteful? Paying full-price for a meal and only asking for them to send out half of it. That?s a waste of money. I?m sure that?s my peasant middle-classness speaking, but when I do go out to eat, I either finish my meal or take home what I can?t finish. Why not do that? I understand if Nicole thinks portions are too big I disagree, more on that in a moment but surely the answer is just? paying for and receiving your whole meal and then taking half home for later? Leftovers are good. And you?re paying for them anyway!
As for this whole ?portions are too big these days? argument it depends where you?re eating. If you?re going to some middle-America chain restaurant, for sure, I could see why you might think the portions are too big. But Nicole spends a lot of time in, like, LA and London. Do you really think those restaurants are bringing out a giant plate of hot wings and a vat of mashed potatoes? (I just gave away the name of dream restaurant, one which I?ll open someday: A Vat of Mashed Potatoes. Stop by any time!)

There are always rumors about Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban and the state of their marriage. I would believe those rumors, except that whenever I see Keith and Nicole on a red carpet or in an interview, they always seem to be on the same page about everything. Meaning? while we think they are a strange couple, their individual strangeness somehow mirrors each other and they are actually incredibly compatible, at least that?s what I believe. Meaning, they?re not anyone?s idea of Couple Goals, but they seem happy enough and they?re still into each other. In any case, I also sort of believe this In Touch Weekly story, about how they went to a private marriage-counseling retreat.
In Touch has learned that Nicole Kidman and husband of nearly 12 years Keith Urban, had a five-day visit to Marriage Quest, a private counseling retreat located in Cabot, Vt. “Nicole and Keith went for an emergency stay,” an insider tells In Touch exclusively of the pair. “It was an extremely emotional and testing few days.”
The couple, who share daughters Sunday, 9, and Faith, 7, ?have been fighting constantly over Nicole?s incessant jealousy and need to control Keith on every level,? adds the insider.
The trip to Vermont marked their final attempt to patch things up. ?It was Keith?s idea to visit the boot camp,? says the insider. The Lion actress resisted and only relented when Keith threatened to leave for good. ?He gave her an ultimatum.?
But in Vermont, the pair were side by side as they hashed out their problems. ?They addressed a range of issues, including emotional intimacy, and focused on the root of their problems as they learned to break down walls and start working on their issues rather than plastering over the cracks,? the insider explains.

?Nicole?s incessant jealousy and need to control Keith on every level?? Yeah, I believe that. I believe she probably gets jealous when he pays attention to anyone else, and I believe she?s controlling too. I just don?t think they fight about it. I think Keith has always been happy to just sort of tailor his interests, his grooming, his life to Nicole. They botox together, get their hair done together (completely with his ?90s boy bander highlights), dress similarly and seem to be morphing into each other. Maybe that IS the true intimacy for them. They also seem like the kind of couple that would go to a marriage-counseling retreat for the hell of it.

I used to constantly get distracted by the work Nicole Kidman was doing on her face, all of the Botox and fillers and whatever. Like, I couldn?t see past all of that stuff to even properly assess her fashion – those years are mostly a blur. But at some point, she calmed down with the injectibles and she?s back to wearing some amazing looks, like this bronzey-metallic Armani gown, which I absolutely love. And now I?m distracted by her husband, Keith Urban. Like, what?s going on with Keith Urban? He?s distracting. The wiglets, the ?90s highlights, the Botox, the face full of makeup. It?s sort of funny, actually?? Nicole won the SAG for Big Little Lies, because of course she did.
Reese Witherspoon wore a green Zac Posen. I tend to find Posen?s gowns to be overworked and this gown is no different for me. True, she looks beautiful in this rich green. But the actual design of the dress leaves me cold.
Laura Dern in Dior. I?m not feeling this – the skirt should be longer, the V-neck shouldn?t be so deep and she needed to do something different with her hair.

The American Music Awards were last night and everything about them was totally overkill. I could tell by how few people were tweeting about it that no one really cared about the red carpet, and only barely cared about some of the performances. Granted, I?m sure a lot of kids cared. But the few over-30 people on the red carpet were treated like circus freaks, and it wasn?t much better inside the AMAs. Keith Urban picked up three country music awards and they only let him make one speech, because that?s how little the AMAs care about country music. Still, Nicole Kidman and Keith came out for the show and it was probably their date night. Nicole wore this rock ?n roll look from Olivier Theyskens which I actually don?t hate at all (this looked great in motion). But Keith?s face, you guys. It?s a MESS.
Ciara in Alexandre Vauthier, perfectly rock ?n roll. This is a great ?wet look? hairstyle too.
This is a bad ?wet look? hairstyle on Jenna Dewan-Tatum. I?m also not crazy about her Julien Macdonald dress, but my qualms are mostly about this beigey gold shade which does nothing for her. Her body looks amazeballs.
Kathryn Hahn in Greta Constantine. Imagine this look in a deep blood red and without bangs. So much better, right?
The presence of certain presenters made me think that the AMAs had an amazing gifting suite for presenters. Either that or stars of ABC shows are contractually obligated to show up for certain events which air on ABC. Viola Davis introduced a segment on the 25th anniversary of The Bodyguard. She looked amazing in Michael Kors.
