Here are some assorted photos from the premieres and photocalls at TIFF over the past few days. I kind of forgot that Nicole Kidman would be in Toronto! She wasn?t premiering her Grace Kelly movie, Grace of Monaco, though. She was premiering The Railway Man with Colin Firth. Colin came with his lovely wife (I?ll have that pic in a moment), but I think Nicole was flying solo in Canada. I guess Keith Urban was working on American Idol, right? Right. Anyway, Nicole wore this kind of meh Altuzarra Resort 2014 suit. I mean? it fits beautifully and it could have been ?Nicole in a fantastic, simple, classic suit.? But those little sheer cut-out things are bugging me. Meh. Also: the brooch makes it very ?grandma? right?
Here?s Kristen Wiig premiering Hateship Loveship in a Vena Cava blouse and shorts. You know how I was questioning whether a tuxedo is too dressy for TIFF? Well, I have to question if Kristen is WAY under-dressed. Sure, those are ?dressy? shorts. But still, would it have killed her to find a cocktail dress?
Here?s Colin Firth and his beautiful wife Livia. They are such a handsome, elegant couple.
Dakota Fanning in Valentino Fall 2013. Girl, we need to talk. Your stylist is awful! This is the second film festival in as many weeks where you are wearing really bad clothes. Hire someone new!
Many asked to see more of Lupita Nyong?o ? she?s a Kenyan actress who apparently gives an Oscar-worthy performance in 12 Years a Slave. She?s getting as much (if not more) buzz as Michael Fassbender. Lupita knows she?s a star on the rise too ? look at this amazing white Prada silk jersey gown! You know who usually wears Prada gowns? Pale, wispy women. I have to think? THIS is the way Prada should be worn. She’s so beautiful it hurts a little.
Sarah Paulson is also in 12 Years a Slave ? she plays Fassbender?s wife (on the plantation). She wore this Georges Hobeika Fall 2013 Couture gown. It reminds me of what Valentino is doing these days. I would have preferred to see this in another, darker color but that?s my only qualm.
Did you forget that Kate Winslet is pregnant? I forgot.

Here are some photos from yesterday?s Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 2013 Installation Luncheon. At first I was like, ?Oh, these are the people who desperately want a Golden Globe nomination this year.? But I think that?s too simplistic. Obviously, people like Olivia Wilde and Liam Hemsworth have to know that they?re not turning in award-worthy work, right? But they still showed up. Maybe this event is more like ?Remember our names, we?ll eventually get a Globe nomination, eventually!?
That being said, Nicole Kidman definitely wants a Globe nomination this year. Nicole was definitely the biggest name at the event, probably because she wants a real awards-season push for Grace of Monaco, which comes out later this year. She plays Grace Kelly when Grace was in her 30s. Yeah. Thus, Botox. A crazy amount of Botox. Nicole wore green Narciso Rodriguez ? pretty color, but I?m not crazy about the cut.
Did Colin Farrell get hairplugs or does his hair just look funky? Other than that, he looks handsome.
Olivia Wilde in Clover Canyon. The dress is interesting, but I think Olivia?s styling is too minimalist. She needs lipstick and maybe some mascara.
Diane Kruger in Carven. I thought it was Burberry! Which means that I automatically love it.
Liam Hemsworth, looking squinty and handsome.
Amber Heard in Osman. This dress is like a deconstructed smock, only it?s not even as flattering as a smock would have been. Awful.
Dermot Mulroney needs to rethink his hair.
Demian Bichir is normally quite attractive, but not so much in this photo.

If I didn?t know any better, I would say that Nicole Kidman has gained some weight. Not much, just 10 pounds or so. It looks really good on her, right? It?s also possible that what I?m seeing as weight gain is just a dress cut the wrong way for her bolt-ons. Back when Nicole had a small bust, she could wear high-neck gowns with ease and still look incredibly slender. But she?s finding out the curse of larger boobs now ? when you have a larger bust, you look heavier when you wear clothes with a high-neck.
Anyway, these are photos of Nicole at the Cinema for Peace gala in Berlin over the weekend. The event was specifically to honor UN women, and Nicole is embracing Lakshmi Puri, the UN Nation Assistant Secretary-General for Intergovernmental Support and Strategic Partnerships. Nicole won an award at the event. Her dress in Elie Saab Couture. I kind of think this would have been more striking as a gown, a column of pale blue sparkles, but it?s nice as a cocktail dress too. Nicole loves wearing pale colors, and this pale blue-grey doesn?t wash her out at all, which is nice. I like the simplicity of her low ponytail too. Her lips are still crazy though.
Nicole also covers the August issue of Vogue Germany. There are two covers actually, both of them head shots. I guess I like the black-and-white cover more.

Stepping out for a good cause, Nicole Kidman attended the Cinema for Peace dinner at Soho House in Berlin, Germany on Friday (July 12).
The "Moulin Rouge!" star looked gorgeous in a sleeveless pale blue dress with a bit of sparkle and white pointy heels as she posed for pics outside.
Recently, the 46-year-old actress proved she has a lot to offer when Vogue Germany decided to feature two different cover shots of the Aussie beauty on their August 2013 covers.
While the Patrick Demarchelier cover features a black and white profile of Nicole with hands together at her lips, the Camilla Akrans shot is a sunnier color photo, showing off her soft blonde curls.

Before we discuss these new Jimmy Choo ads, I?d just like to say something to the people in charge of releasing advanced copies of advertising: this is how you do it. Do it like Jimmy Choo is doing it, where every major outlet gets high-quality images from the campaign, and everything gets released all at once. It?s amateur hour over at Dior with Robert Pattinson?s campaign ? they?re not increasing the ?buzz? for the campaign, they?re just making everybody angry.
Anyway, as we discussed in May, Nicole Kidman was named the new face/feet of Jimmy Choo. This is ? I believe? ? Choo?s first celebrity brand ambassador, and their first celebrity ad campaign. I?m saying they spent major money to get Nicole, and then they spent major money shooting these ads. Was it worth it? Well, Nicole is wearing a pretty mangy-looking red wig, and her makeup is kind of awful. She reminds me of (or she?s styled like) Stella Tennant, right? Nicole?s body looks really good, though. I have leg jealousy.
Anyway, Nicole issued a statement about the ads (again, Dior needs to take note of how Choo is doing it): ?I really enjoyed being able to play a role that was strong, sexy and in control. I got into a relationship with the photographer, and Mikael [Jansson] is very intuitive, he knows what I am thinking and feeling and is able to translate it through the camera.? Jimmy Choo?s creative director Sandra Choi said: ?There is a feeling of a quiet eroticism in the collection, and this concept was brought to life by Nicole?s magnetic presence in front of the camera. Her character portrays the multi-faceted qualities of the Jimmy Choo woman for this season ? strong, sexy with a beguiling sense of mystery.?
Here?s the commercial for Jimmy Choo too? OMG. This is almost worth its own post. The duck lips! The legs! The busted wig! The terrible makeup! And shoes, of course. This commercial feels like the beginning of a Saturday Night Live spoof-commercial.

These are photos from last night?s CMT Awards, yet another country music awards show. Since I don?t keep up with country music, I have to ask: is it just me or do they have like five country music awards shows within the span of two months?! At last night?s CMTs, Carrie Underwood won ?Video of the Year? while Miranda Lambert took home ?CMT performance of the year?. Miranda also won best female video while her husband Blake Shelton took Best Male Video. You can read more about the awards here.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were there, of course. And they looked loved up and I actually think Nicole?s face is looking less jacked than it looked at the Cannes Film Festival. Nicole?s inflating and deflating ?facial work? always makes me think that she?s making a conscious choice over and over, month by month, to get work done. Ugh. Nicole wore Christian Dior ? a nice enough LBD, kind of plain. Keith looked decent (for him) ? I just want him to button one more button and STOP WITH THE FLAT-IRON. Oh, would you like a better look at Nicole?s Dior shoes?
I love that Carrie Underwood wasn?t wearing a giant ball gown. Her Editions by Georges Chakra outfit is really cute!

Sheryl Crow looks tired and that dress is not flattering at all.
Kelly Pickler looks pretty glam for this event. I love the dress, I?m just not sure it?s right for the CMTs.

Here are the last photos from this year?s Cannes Film Festival. Most of the pics are from the closing ceremony, which was last night. Would you like to know who took home the top prizes? Of course you would. The Palme d?Or went to Blue Is the Warmest Color, a French film about a young woman?s sexual awakening (spoiler: she?s a lesbian and there are some very explicit lesbian sex scenes). The two young actresses, Adle Exarchopoulos and La Seydoux, were also called out for special recognition, although neither was given the ?Best Actress? award, which went to Berenice Bejo for her role in Le Passe. The Coen Brothers? Inside Llewyn Davis won the Grand Prix, Bruce Dern won best actor for Alexander Payne?s Nebraska. You can read more about the awards handed out here.

Here are some extra photos from various Cannes Film Festival premieres over the past few days. Sorry, I sort of got overwhelmed by the magnificence of Tilda Swinton (and to a lesser degree, Tom Hiddleston). Here is Nicole Kidman in Chanel at the Saturday premiere of Venus In Fur. I don?t like the overall look, but I?ll admit that it looks better depending on the angle. In motion, it looks decent, and from the side? that?s probably the best look. But straight-on, not so much. The plates or whatever at the bottom of the dress sort of resembles deconstructed peacock feathers, I guess? Also: Nicole?s styling sucks here. Her hair is a mess!
Marion Cotillard in Dior at the Friday premiere of The Immigrant. This Dior gown reminded me a lot of Jessica Chastain?s Versace ?High Priestess of Sapphires? gown earlier last week, although I guess I sort of like this Dior better. It has a ruffle on the side and it looks really beautiful in the back view. But I hate the oversized bust thing.
Zhang Ziyi in Elie Saab. Boring dress is boring.
Emmanuelle Seigner (Roman Polanski?s wife!) in a custom Alexandre Vauthier low-cut silk jersey gown at last night?s premiere of Venus In Fur, which was directed by Polanski. God, is this the trashiest thing you?ve ever seen?

Taking care of her Cannes Film Festival Jury duties, Nicole Kidman showed up at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France this morning (May 24).
Joined by fellow jurors Steven Spielberg and Christoph Waltz, the ?Hemingway & Gellhorn? gal seemed to be in good spirits as she wrapped up a meeting.

Here are some photos of Nicole Kidman and Heidi Klum at last night?s Cannes Film festival premiere of Nebraska. I?ve been surprised by Nicole ? she?s been surprisingly withholding during the film festival. I thought we were going to get multiple costume changes every day, but as it is, these are the first photos we?ve had of Nicole since the weekend. Maybe she didn?t bring enough gowns? Or maybe she just wanted to make every red carpet count? I don?t know.
Anyway, Nicole wore this Valentino Spring 2013 Couture gown. Does it look familiar? It should. It should look VERY familiar. First off, Amanda Seyfried wore a very similar looking Alexander McQueen gown to the Oscars this year. Secondly, this is the very same Valentino that Anne Hathaway was supposed to wear to the Oscars until she discovered that Amanda was going to wear the similar McQueen gown. And so Anne went with the nipply Pink Prada gown which looked terrible on her. Do you wish Anne had worn this, her first choice, to the Oscars this year? I?m kind of happy she didn?t wear it, even though I hated the Prada. This dress would have washed her out so much. She would have looked like an old doily. But on Nicole? It?s pretty decent. Nicole ? much like Cate Blanchett ? can pull off some stuff that would make lesser fashionistas look like giant doilies.
And here?s Heidi Klum in Versace. Note that she almost flashed her beav. That?s been happening a lot during the Cannes Film Festival! Eva Longoria, Rosario Dawson and several other women have flashed their panties (or more) at Cannes. I blame the recent influx of dresses with slits up to the crotch. I also blame Anne Hathaway, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina ?The Leg? Jolie and Duchess Kate for making beav-flashing and high slits the new ?thing?. Also, I really don?t like Heidi?s dress in general.
