| Nicole Kidman's new Jimmy Choo print ads: cartoonish, sad and/or disastrous' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

So far, I?ve hated every campaign from Nicole Kidman?s collaboration with Jimmy Choo. This is her third print ad campaign thus far, and each campaign just gets worse and worse. At this point, I don?t even know why they hired Nicole Kidman. Why even hire a famous face to represent your shoe and purse line if you?re just going to make her look like a friggin? cartoon? I mean, Nicole already made herself look somewhat cartoonish with her marble-like face and overfilled lips, but it?s sad/weird that the Jimmy Choo Photoshop people were like, ?Hey, you know what Nicole needs? To be utterly unrecognizable in these photos!?
The idea, according to the fashion professionals, was for photographer Slve Sundsb to create a campaign ?inspired by the cubist movement.? Sure. Granted, I?m not an art history major, but this looks less like ?Cubism? and more like ?Photoshop disaster.?
Things I learned from these Choo ads:
*Even a famous beauty like Nicole looks completely creepy with Photoshopped doll legs.
*Nicole should never agree to wear pale orange lipstick. EVER.
*No woman looks appealing when you make her mons look like a Ken Doll?s sad, blank crotch.
*Nicole?s bolt-ons look sketchy from certain angles.
*Apparently, the height of fashion is ?looking dead-eyed and corpsey.? Noted.
*If you do this to the ?face? of your campaign, people aren?t going to be paying attention to the shoes and bags. I?ve seriously been staring at these images for 30 minutes and I couldn?t tell you what the bags and shoes looked like at all.

These are some photos of Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban and their two daughters (Faith and Sunday) at LAX last week. I?ve been dying to use them for days, just because we really don?t see Faith and Sunday that much, especially when you consider how much we see of other celebrity children. Sunday looks like her dad, I think ? I see more Keith there, but that could change as she grows up. But the big surprise for me is how much Faith looks like Nicole all of a sudden. I think Faith is a ginger ? and that looks like Nicole?s original, frizzy red hair. YAY! I always hoped Nicole would have a ginger daughter. I like the girls in matching dresses too ? very cute.
Nicole recently did an interview with Parade Magazine about health and happiness ? this reads a bit like Jennifer Aniston?s recent interviews, like an infomercial wrapped up in New Age lifestyle-speak.
Parade: How do you take care of yourself with what you eat?
Kidman: I eat everything, except I?m allergic to strawberries. So basically, a little bit of everything?the name of one of my husband?s songs.
How do you take care of yourself with what you do for your physical activity?
I work out regularly. I run, spin, play tennis. I love the outdoors.
What?s the biggest lesson you?ve learned about health so far?
If you?re tired, go easy. The most important thing I think is balance and to take your vitamins. I?m a Swisse wellness spokesperson, which is a great fit for me. They have a great array of vitamins, especially the Women?s Ultivite which has over 50 vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and herbs. It?s a must-have during winter for busy women. Their skin, hair, and nails vitamins are amazing as well?they have literally changed my hair.
How do you sustain a positive mental outlook, ?get happy??
I believe that everyone needs a different set of tools, so to speak. I love to meditate and I try to always do something active each day. I also believe love is incredibly important to maintaining a positive outlook. Love for your children, for your partner, being able to give it and receive it.
What one health condition would you most like to eradicate for everyone and why?
Cancer would probably be the primary health condition I would love to eradicate.
How do you handle holiday stress?
Take each day as it comes. We try not to get caught up in the materialistic side of Christmas. We see it as more of a time of giving, donating and taking care of others.
How do you manage holiday eating?
I?m not that strict. I think it?s a time to enjoy and then in the New Year, I tend to step it up. I just really enjoy good food and the relaxation of preparing it and eating it. I?m not a very good cook but I do love when someone else is.
[From Parade]
I had no idea Nicole was allergic to strawberries. That?s interesting ? I?ve known a lot of people with nut allergies, which I wouldn?t be able to handle at all (I love nuts, especially peanuts). Anyway, I have no idea what this interview was supposed to promote, so I suspect Nicole was just shilling the vitamins, right? Perhaps this came on the heels of the now widespread consensus in medical circles that vitamin supplements don?t do anything and should actually be avoided? Keep shilling, Nic!

Gearing up for some family holiday shenanigans, Nicole Kidman flew into Sydney, Australia on Thursday morning (December 19).
Joined by her daughters Sunday and Faith, the ?Moulin Rouge? actress looked happy as she exited the airport sporting an olive jacket with a white top, leopard print scarf, and black leather trousers.
Meanwhile, Nicole?s hubby Keith Urban is busy with the upcoming season of ?American Idol,? and he recently told press he hired Kidman?s hairdresser to give his coif a good chopping.
Urban explained, ?I said to Nic, ?I just want to get it all cut off.? And she was like, ?Yeah, yeah, yeah, it?s just hair, you know. If you don?t like it, it will grow back. It?s no big drama.? So she was shooting a campaign here in Nashville, and her hairdresser was in town. I went to visit her on the set, and she was like, ?Why don?t you get him to do it?? And I went, ?OK,? and I just walked in, he cut it off, and it was done.?

| Nicole Kidman: Winning an Oscar 'showed me the emptiness of my own life' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Can I just say? Nicole Kidman is one of a very elite class of women who can pull off these super-sleek, tighter-than-tight, Croydon facelift hairstyles. Jennifer Lopez always attempts this look and I?ve always thought it fell flat on her, but Nicole looks so amazing and fierce with this sleek look. Nicole covers the December issue of Harper?s Bazaar Australia ? the cover is an homage to an old Kate Moss cover, which is weird, right? It?s weird that they would get Kidman to homage Moss. Anyway, I really like this shoot even if it?s not that original. I prefer my Kidman looking like a drag queen princess as opposed to some sexed-up bombshell or a lady of the manor (two styles she?s been doing a lot lately).
As for the interview, there are only a few quotes floating around, but they were enough to make me roll my eyes at her. She managed to get in a quote about Tom Cruise without having to mention his name, but I chuckled at her ?emptiness? quote:
After breaking up with Tom Cruise, winning an Oscar wasn?t enough solace for Nicole Kidman.
?I was having professional success and my personal life was struggling,? she says in Harper?s Bazaar.
Capturing a Best Actress award, as she did for her role in ?The Hours,? ?can show you the emptiness of your own life, which is kind of what it showed me,? she said.
Now happy with her husband, country singer Keith Urban, she said that she?s content with smaller film roles.
?I?m not carrying the whole film, and it?s not six to seven months? work like ?Moulin Rouge?!? the 46-year-old actress said. ?I get to come for three weeks and then go home,? she added.
[From Page Six]
The after-Cruise thing is what it is. I understand that she self-edits and tries to explain the circumstances around their split cryptically, but I feel certain that Nicole will never tell us the real story of their marriage and divorce, and we may never know. As for the ?emptiness of her life? after she won her Oscar? sure, I guess we?re supposed to think that career achievements means nothing when compared to her second chance at love and motherhood and isn?t that some homespun wisdom? But here?s the thing ? if chasing awards is so ?empty? then why is still doing it? Why is she still trying to do these sad, Oscar-baity films, like her Grace Kelly attempt, Grace of Monaco?

Before we talk about Nicole Kidman, can we just have a word about the Vanity Fair coverline ?The Wife Who Outfoxed Kristen Stewart?? OMG. Did VF get Liberty Ross to do a tell-all? THAT is the story I cannot wait for. Anyway, Nicole covers the December issue of VF, which was probably arranged back when Grace of Monaco was going to be Nicole?s big 2013 Oscar contender. Unfortunately, Harvey Weinstein shut it down and pushed the film to next year. So, this VF cover is a little bit? funny, I guess. Are we laughing about Grace of Monaco yet? I bet we?ll be laughing when it comes out. As for the interview, Nicole talks a bit about being married to Tom Cruise and how famous that marriage made her:
?I was so young,? Nicole Kidman tells Vanity Fair contributing editor Sam Kashner in the December-issue cover story, reflecting back on her marriage to Tom Cruise when she was just 23 years old. ?And you know, with no disrespect to what I had with Tom, I?ve met my great love now. And I really did not know if that was going to happen. I wanted it, but I didn?t want it for a while, because I didn?t want to jump from one relationship to another. I had a lot of time alone, which was really, really good, because I was a child, really, when I got married. And I needed to grow up.?
Kidman, who was playing Virginia Woolf in The Hours at the time of her divorce from Cruise, recalls shooting Woolf?s suicide scene, walking into the River Ouse over and over again, as electric fans whipped up the river?s waves. ?Walking into the river with those stones in my pockets?I chose life,? she says. ?At the time, I was at a low point, and by playing her, it put me into a place of appreciating life.?
When asked about the unreal level of fame she endured during her marriage to Cruise, Kidman says, ?There is something about that sort of existence that, if you really focus on each other and you?re in that bubble, it?s very intoxicating, because it?s just the two of you. And there is only one other person that?s going through it. So it brings you very close, and it?s deeply romantic. I?m sure Brad and Angelina have that?because there?s nobody else that understands it except that person who?s sleeping right next to you.?
Kidman tells Kashner, ?Having experienced extreme fame and now getting to a place where it?s not so dominating in my life, I?m always surprised when I go somewhere and people know who I am.? She explains that when it?s seen through the eyes of her children ?it jars me again, because they ask, ?Why do they want a photo?? and ?Why is that person saying hello to you when you don?t know them?? All of that stuff has to be explained to a five-year-old. So I see it through a different perspective.?
Kidman, who now lives in Nashville with her husband, Keith Urban, and their two daughters, tells Kashner she doesn?t miss Hollywood. ?The whole business side of it?it?s too present. It doesn?t suit me,? she explains. ?There?s an enormous amount you have to give up if you want to have a family. You can have a certain career, but you can?t be living in Hollywood, [where] absolutely everything, everything revolves around it. That wasn?t my choice. I?d rather revolve around somebody else?s career and then still find my own.? Kidman says she loves living in Nashville, ?because I can kind of have a very odd, idiosyncratic kind of path. I have stepped away from the fame part of it. I didn?t find what I was looking for in fame. So I went, O.K., this is not for me. And it was such a blessing that I found somebody who said, ?Well, are you willing to move to Tennessee?? And I was ?Oh, am I willing to move!??
Kidman talks to Kashner about how having children has affected her marriage with Urban, saying it ?gives you some glue, [so] you?re both kind of in there together and you?re having to work through raising them, which brings up an enormous amount of personal things in terms of history and your own life. Yet if you kind of move into each other, you discover and heal a lot of things in each other, too. Well, that?s what I?ve found for us?very, very healing, when it?s gently, gently done.?
Though Kidman calls her marriage ?very, very peaceful,? she admits to Kashner that she struggles between ?giving my life to my lover and my children? and ?giving my life to my artistic desires.? Kidman says that?s always going to be her struggle ?because I?m passionate, so I want to be able to give completely to both, and that doesn?t work always.? She tells Kashner ?it?s a push-pull. It?s uncharted. My husband and I are in uncharted territory because we?re trying to find artistic expression but also we?re incredibly connected as a family?we?re very, very tight, very, very close, and I have a very, very primal protection of my family.?
[From Vanity Fair]
Lord, I always forget how often Nicole plays this delicate little bunny act. I do think she?s shy and nervous in general, but there?s something off-putting (to me) about a 46-year-old woman who still acts like she might be too fragile for this world. Plus, I don?t buy that Nicole is like this about everything ? this is the woman who escaped Tom Cruise and Xenu and came out of it with a Best Actress Oscar and a hot career (but not her children). That being said, nothing she says here is offensive. She works hard, she loves her husband, she loves her daughters, she doesn?t like being famous. Blah.

| Nicole Kidman in satin Prada at the Huading Awards in China: gorgeous or ridiculous? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

China?s film industry is booming. Sort of. No, it is. I?m comfortable saying that. China wants to be in direct competition with Bollywood and Hollywood. China wants movie stars ? they want their own movie stars and they want Western movie stars too. And considering China?s emergence as a massive market for Hollywood (and the fashion industry, etc), Hollywood stars are taking the trek to China more and more often. For example, over the weekend, Hollywood types mingled with the glitterati of China at the 10th Huading Awards held in Macao, China. I?m splitting up the photos into two posts!
In these photos, you can see the big ?gets? of the evening, Nicole Kidman and Jackie Chan. It was sort of like Jackie was Nicole?s escort, which is kind of sweet and kind of bizarre. The Huading Awards are supposed to be like the equivalent of the Oscars, only the awards go to not just movies but music and sports figures too. So? it?s probably more like the Brit Awards, I?m thinking.
For the big show, Nicole wore this black silk Prada gown which? it?s a very striking gown. I would have liked it more if it was just a solid black gown with that crazy/incredible halter, and then maybe a thick wrap with black silk on one side and the orange blossom fabric on the other side? That would have amazing. As it is, Nicole has got some weird little wrist things and the dress just seems at odds with itself. Also: For the love of God, Nicole got some extra Botox on top of her normal stuff, so she looks extra-waxy and frozen here. And her bolt-ons are incredibly noticeable in this dress.

| Nicole Kidman & Naomi Watts are feuding over their dueling (terrible) bio-pics | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some new photos of Nicole Kidman and her daughter Sunday on the school run yesterday in LA. Sunday takes after Keith more, doesn?t she? She?s a cutie. And I like Nicole?s ?school run? outfit a lot. I wish Nicole would work this kind of ?low-key, country-ish? look more often, even on red carpets. She would look younger.
Originally, people thought Nicole was going to be seen more often in the coming months as she promoted Grace of Monaco and began the circuit to campaign for (what she hoped would end up being) a Best Actress Oscar nomination. Fortunately for us, shortly after the Grace of Monaco trailer dropped, Harvey Weinstein decided that Grace of Monaco was terrible should be released next year instead. Which either A) delays the inevitable, which is that Nicole faces down some of the worst reviews of her life, of B) denies us the wonder of a great performance from Nicole.
But what about Nicole?s BFF Naomi Watts and HER terrible bio-pic thing, Diana? Naomi was just laughed out of London when critics finally saw Diana. Will the same thing happen when critics see Grace of Monaco? This is what I wondered after I read this story ? about Naomi and Nicole?s faltering friendship ? in Star Mag:
Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts have famously been best friends for decades, but ?this year has been seriously tough on their friendship,? an insider tells Star. The trouble began when Nicole refused to appear on a 60 Minutes special about Naomi?s Oscar nomination, leaving Naomi ?deeply hurt,? says the source. Adding fresh fuel to the fire are the actresses? respective portrayals of princesses: Nicole as Grace Kelly and Naomi as Princess Diana.
Advance reviews for the movies ? both of which were set for November releases before Grace of Monaco was bumped to 2014 ? declared Nicole?s film the winner.
?Nicole is definitely gloating, while Naomi is stewing. The former besties are quickly drifting apart.?
[From Star Magazine, print edition]
First of all, you put any film up against Diana, it?s going to look like a ?winner?. That doesn?t mean that Grace of Monaco is any good whatsoever, it just means that Diana is THAT bad. And Nicole shouldn?t gloat about it considering that Harvey did just push it back, probably because he doesn?t believe in it. As for Nicole and Naomi?s friendship? I think it?s far more likely that they?ve just grown apart. They have very different lives these days and they both have young children too. Eh.

Enjoying the daily duties of a mommy, Nicole Kidman picked up her daughter from school in Los Angeles on Thursday (October 3).
The "Moulin Rouge" star wore a black patterned dress with a matching cardigan as she held the hand of her adorable little girl, Sunday.
Recently, the 46-year-old actress appeared in Variety, where she spoke about her humanitarian work with U.N. Women.
Helping to get women involved in the legislative process, Nicole explains, "Once you have women in roles in lawmaking roles, that makes a huge difference for women?s rights."

Last week, the first trailer for Grace of Monaco was released. And the reception was not all that great. In fact, most of the professional (and amateur!) awards-watchers quietly crossed Nicole off of their ?Best Actress? lists. It?s not that Nicole?s performance as Princess Grace looked bad or whatever (although Grace didn?t have a face full of Botox and lip fillers) ? it was that the movie as a whole looked terrible. It looked like Naomi Watts? Princess Diana movie or Lindsay Lohan?s Liz & Dick. It looked more like a budget Lifetime movie rather than a serious awards contender. So, not so surprisingly, Harvey Weinstein has decided to push the film?s release back so that when this mess bombs, no one will even say that it could have been an awards contender.
The Weinstein Co. no longer plans to release Grace of Monaco, a drama in which Oscar winner Nicole Kidman portrays actress-turned-princess Grace Kelly, in time to qualify for this year’s Oscar race. A limited release originally had been set for Nov. 27, and Kidman, by virtue of her past awards success, has been mentioned as a possible contender. But The Hollywood Reporter has learned that TWC has decided the film needs more time to be completed, and, according to sources, will be released during spring 2014, positioned more as a commercial entry than an awards play. TWC did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
TWC co-chief Harvey Weinstein seemed particularly jazzed about the film — which was written by Arash Amel, directed by La Vie En Rose’s Olivier Dahan and also stars Tim Roth, Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Frank Langella and Derek Jacobi — when he previewed his fall slate for a room full of press and buyers at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17. Kidman, who was serving on the festival jury, even stopped by to take a bow.
“Weinstein lavished special attention on Grace, noting it was the seventh movie he?s made with Kidman,” THR reported at the time.
TWC still will have a jam-packed awards slate this fall. It already has released Fruitvale Station, Lee Daniels’ The Butler and The Grandmaster and the documentaries 20 Feet from Stardom and Salinger. And it will soon release Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Philomena, August: Osage County and One Chance, all of which played at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month.
Next year looks just as busy for the mini-major. TWC also is pushing James Gray’s The Immigrant, which stars Marion Cotillard and premiered at May’s Cannes Film Festival, from 2013 to 2014. And it acquired three other films at Toronto that also will factor into the 2014 race: John Carney’s Can a Song Save Your Life?, which stars Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo and Adam Levine; Ned Benson’s The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him and Her, with James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain; and The Railway Man, in which Kidman also stars, opposite Colin Firth.
[From The Hollywood Reporter]
I can see how this was an easy decision for Harvey to make ? why waste time and money on a film that you already know is going to be a critical and financial flop? Why waste time and energy trying to convince people that Nicole could be worthy of any awards nominations when you have Meryl Streep as a hands-down contender? And beyond that ? I really hope Harvey puts some money behind a campaign for Fruitvale Station. That was a wonderful film full of wonderful performances, and I hope Harvey spreads around enough money to ensure that Michael B. Jordan and Octavia Spencer both get nominations. Oh, and Harvey has to get Oprah a nomination too. And Idris Elba. So, he?s busy. He doesn?t have time for Nicole?s Botoxy nonsense.
