She’s always been a supporter of the arts, and last night (November 24) Natalie Portman was spotted at the New York City Ballet season opening celebration.
The “Garden State” actress was having a marvelous time as she posed for the paparazzi outside the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center.
And of course, Miss Portman looked nothing short of fabulous in her conservative-yet-sexy black dress with white spot pattern and black heels.
As for her new movie “Brothers,” Natalie told press she’d be up for a love triangle. “It would be fun if they were like Tobey and Jake.”

Continuing along with her “Brothers” promotional duties, Natalie Portman stepped out in new York City on Monday night (November 23).
The “V for Vendetta” actress kept warm in a blue winter jacket, greeting fans outside the Ed Sullivan Theatre ahead of her Letterman appearance.
Meanwhile, Miss Portman recently confessed that she wouldn’t mind being in a love triangle - if it involved Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal.
“It would be fun, if they were like Tobey [Maguire] and Jake [Gyllenhaal],” she gushed of her “Brothers” co-stars.

I don?t do many posts on Natalie Portman because she?s pretty damn boring and usually dresses like a bum. However, sometimes she can surprise us, like here at the ‘Brothers’ New York Premiere. Hopefully she will continue looking this good on a regular basis, but I doubt it. So enjoy it while

She’s always up for a high-profile event, and last night (November 22) Natalie Portman was spotted at a screening of her new movie “Brothers.”
The “Garden State” gal looked lovely as she arrived at the Cinema Society/Details/DKNY-sponsored event, held at the SVA Theater in New York City, along with costar Tobey Maguire.
In the film, Natalie plays the role of a soldier’s wife, whose husband goes missing in battle. As a result, his brother steps up and takes care of Portman’s character, eventually falling in love with her.
“Brothers” is based on the 2004 Danish filmi “Brodreis,” and is due to hit theatres nationwide on December 4th.

Stepping out for a promotional appearance, Natalie Portman attended the “To India With Love: From New York To Mumbai” book launch in New York City on Wednesday night (November 4).
The “V for Vendetta” actress smiled as she posed for pictures at the Pierre Hotel hosted evening fete.
Meanwhile, Miss Portman is gearing up for next year’s release of a new movie called “Black Swan” – of which she spoke about her lesbian sex scene with co-star Mila Kunis.
She tells of the difficulties she has with such steamy scenes, “I’m not opposed to sexuality or nudity in a film, but I’m very opposed to pornography sites and you’re pretty much giving them material if you do any of that. It’s always a big dilemma for me.”

If you ever wanted to know what Natalie Portman would look like as a rockabilly, here?s the magazine cover of your dreams. Natalie posed for the cover of V Magazine decked out in her best pompadour and ?screw you? look. Meh. I think Natalie (at 28 years old) is one of the prettiest girls around, but this cover and the accompanying photos aren?t amazing, in my opinion. The photo shoot was done by Mario Testino, and the interview excerpts are all over the place. Here?s a summary:
Natalie on the short shelf-life of actresses in Hollywood: ?You see people who were stars five years ago and already they?re waning. As actresses approach 40, it starts becoming really, really difficult.?
On plastic surgery: She?s still years from that marker, she?s ambivalent about plastic surgery in the future. ?I would hope not,? she says of whether she?d ever go under the knife. She does not, however, completely rule it out, explaining that she won?t know how she?ll feel as she ages. While wrinkles aren?t a problem yet, she admits, ?if I have a pimple I want to get rid of it.?
Natalie on her ?acting? in the Star Wars franchise: ?My acting was not exactly respected in those [Star Wars] films but those are the moments when you want to prove yourself again. When people think I suck, it helps.?
On websites poaching her naked body from movie stills: ?[O]nline bullsh-t interferes with what I want to do artistically. I?m not opposed to sexuality or nudity in a film, but I?m very opposed to [pr0n] sites and you?re pretty much giving them material if you do any of that.?
On her already-buzzed about sex-filled lesbian role in Black Swan: ?It?s not raunchy- it?s extreme.?
[V Magazine interview excerpts from People Magazine, CoverAwards and Radar]
I don?t really have a problem with most of what she?s talking about, but I always hate it when an actor disrespects there own films. It always strikes me as rude and unprofessional. If you hate the job so much, why the f-ck did you take it? Maybe it?s that I used to adore Natalie, but lately every move she?s made has been grating on my nerves. First, she signed the Polanski petition, and then she wrote about a widely-circulated and disseminated piece being a vegetarian for the Huffington Post. In that piece, she defends the notion that eating meat is somehow akin to rape. Seriously. This is what she wrote: ?[Jonathan Safran Foer] reminds us that being a man, and a human, takes more thought than just ‘This is tasty, and that’s why I do it.’ He posits that consideration, as promoted by Michael Pollan in The Omnivore’s Dilemma, which has more to do with being polite to your tablemates than sticking to your own ideals, would be absurd if applied to any other belief (e.g., I don’t believe in rape, but if it’s what it takes to please my dinner hosts, then so be it).? Uh, no. This is why Natalie is no longer one of my favorites. If you want to be a vegan or a vegetarian, fine. But by eating a steak, I?m not raping anyone.

Taking care of her growling tummy, Natalie Portman was spotted on her way out to lunch in New York City yesterday afternoon (November 1).
Joined by a male friend, the “Garden State” actress looked cool and casual as she strolled down the street, sporting a dark jacket/jeans combo with a massive handbag.
As for her strict vegan lifestyle, Natalie recently told press that Safran Foer’s book “Eating Animals” had a profound effect on her.
“Perhaps others disagree with me that animals have personalities, but the highly documented torture of animals is unacceptable, and the human cost Foer describes in his book, of which I was previously unaware, is universally compelling.”

Enjoying a relaxing weekend in the Big Apple, Natalie Portman was spotted cutting through traffic to hail a taxi cab in New York City on Saturday afternoon (October 24).
The “New York, I Love You” actress happened to be fresh off of a lunch outing with friends at downtown restaurant DBGB Kitchen and Bar.
With five projects in the pipelines, Miss Portman currently finds herself as one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood – but is sure to choose roles based on how they’ll impact her life.
She tells the LA Times, “I want to be a woman on-screen because I want to be a woman in my life. I don’t want to be a little girl.”

| Natalie Portman cut herself once when she was a teenager | Added 15 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Natalie Portman gave an interview to the Los Angeles Times last week to promote her work in New York, I Love You. Natalie directed one segment of the series of short films, and Natalie also stars in one segment directed by Mira Nair. In the interview, Natalie talks about her dreams of directing and how she is actively seeking out more adult roles. She also kind of pulls a Megan Fox, and I detest saying that or even comparing the two women. Natalie is talking about how her roles affect her life, and she discusses her supporting part as a troubled, suicidal teenage girl in Heat. Natalie then does the whole ?I?m a cutter? thing - although she does specify state that she only cut herself once:
“Just as what you are feeling in your life affects your acting, what you act in definitely affects what you are feeling in your life,” Natalie Portman says with typical thoughtfulness.
“And whether you want it to or not, and even if you don’t know it, it bleeds into your life. I made ‘Heat’ when I was 14 and played a girl who died,” she continues. “A year later, I got into a fight with my mother and cut myself. I had never done it before and I never did it after that, but I think having my wrists bloody in a movie definitely affected my psyche.”
At this point,” says Portman of the parts that appeal to her, “I want to be a woman on-screen because I want to be a woman in my life. I don’t want to be a little girl.”
“Working with Mira in New York, I was so thrilled to watch a female director, and you couldn’t ask for a better model than her,” she says. “For me, directing isn’t a backup plan, because I really love it. At the end of the day, it is your product, which you don’t get when you’re acting. Even good performances are pieced together by good directors. You give plenty of bad takes, and they put it together in the editing room.”
As for when she might take on that particular challenge, “I don’t love saying I’m going to do something before I do it because I feel like that’s a formula for hearing, ‘You never did what you said you were going to,’ ” she says, “but I really love directing.” And while she admits to some fear of stepping behind the camera and out of her comfort zone, “that’s intrinsic to everything you do as a creative person. You’re constantly putting yourself up there to be trashed. If I thought about it too much, I’d just be crippled. I’d rather create.”
[From the Los Angeles Times]
Eh, it sounds like she just did it once to see how it would feel. But it feels like she?s trying to be a bit edgy about it, doesn?t it? Like ?oh, I was so hardcore when I was a kid.? Meh. Maybe I?m being overly-analytical. But that attitude bothers me.
Natalie is also facing a backlash because she signed the ?Free Polanski? petition in support of Roman Polanski?s release from custody. Natalie is in esteemed custody - everyone from Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, Harrison Ford, Jeremy Irons, Salman Rushdie, Kristin Scott Thomas, Steven Soderbergh, Emma Thompson and Diane Von Furstenberg, amongst many, many others (see full list here). Ugh, I think Emma Thompson?s inclusion might be the cruelest cut of all. Why, Emma, why? Anyway, the backlash against the signers seems mainly from the more conservative media outlets, but I think it will probably grow as more stuff starts happening with the case. Interesting note: Natalie?s The Professional director Luc Besson was one of the few prominent French artists who did not sign. He released this statement about Polanski: ?I have a lot of affection for him, he is a man that I like very much? but nobody should be above the law?. I don?t know the details of this case, but I think that when you don?t show up for trial, you are taking a risk.?
