Getting all prettied up for an evening soiree, Natalie Portman was the belle of the ball at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' second annual Governors Awards in Los Angeles, California on Saturday (November 13).
Held at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood and Highland, the "Star Wars" actress donned a colorful Lanvin frock as she mingled with fellow guests including Hilary Swank, Diane Lane, Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling.
During the course of the event, tributes were presented to legendary filmmakers Francis Ford Coppola and Jean-Luc Godard.
Meanwhile, Honorary Oscars were also presented to film historian Kevin Brownlow and veteran actor Eli Wallach.

One of the most popular actresses in show business, Natalie Portman opened up about her tendencies to take challenging job opportunities.
Having premiered her movie "Black Swan" last night, the 29-year-old dished, ?Work-wise, I try to do things that scare me, because I know they?re going to challenge me."
Miss Portman continues, ?But I didn?t know what I was in for with Black Swan. I didn?t realize what it was going to be like. But the clich is true, the more you put in, the more you get out."
With the film due out in theaters on December 3, Natalie finished by telling, ?Everything that scared me about the role was also what drew me to it. It was an amazing opportunity to challenge myself emotionally and physically.?

Last night, the cast of Black Swan gathered for the AFI Film Fest premiere of the film. Even though the film has been making its way through the festivals for months, last night was notable because it was the first time the entire cast showed up. Previously, one of the leads has always been missing, usually one of the ladies - Mila Kunis, Natalie Portman or even Winona Ryder. Considering this was such a big event, you?d expect every lady to really bring it, right? Well, some didn?t. Natalie Portman, especially, was phoning it in, style-wise. Don?t get me wrong - Natalie is beautiful, and she could make a paper bag look chic. But this Rodarte dress just seems too budget. And yes, I know it probably costs a fortune and it?s considered ?high fashion?. But it looks cheap and K-Mart, especially with the WalMart shoes.

Making for quite the appropriate finish to another well-run cinema showcase, "Black Swan" was the main attraction during the closing night gala during AFI FEST 2010 at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California on Thursday (November 11).
Turning up for their film's big night, Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Winona Ryder all looked stunning as they took their turns in the arrivals area.
Also in attendance for the red carpet affair were "Project Runway" host Heidi Klum and burlesque beauty Dita Von Teese.
Due out in theaters on December 3, the movie is described as "a thriller that zeros in on the relationship between a veteran ballet dancer and a rival."
Talking about how her time at Harvard University studying psychology helped her get into character for the Darren Aronofsky directed flick, Natalie previously said, "I think university taught me how hard I can work. You know, the first time you get your reading list for the week, and there's, like, a thousand pages to read in four days, your stomach drops. But then you see that you can do that amount of work, and take what you can take from it, and create your own things from these other materials."
She added, "And that's really helpful when you're doing something like 'Black Swan', to have all these resources, and work that hard, and throw yourself into it that much. It gave me the confidence that I could do that."

Tending to the day's leisurely agenda, Natalie Portman was out apartment hunting in New York City on Wednesday afternoon (October 6).
The "Black Swan" beauty looked cute and casual as she led around her pooch while joined by a few friends.
As for her work schedule, Miss Portman most recently finished shooting the David Gordon Green directed comedy titled "Your Highness".
Due in theaters on April 8, 2011, a synopsis tells that the movie is "a fantasy movie about an arrogant, lazy prince and his more heroic brother who must complete a quest in order to save their father's kingdom."

Continuing along with promotional duties for her latest film ?Black Swan,? Natalie Portman was spotted at a press conference in Toronto, Canada on Tuesday (September 14).
The beautiful brunette was all smiles during the sit-down Q and A session, which was held as part of the annual Toronto International Film Festival.
Always up on the latest fashion trends, Ms Portman donned an adorable gray sweater dress and black flats while happily posing for pictures.
Of the ballet based film, Natalie recently told press, ?It was about a year of ballet preparation that sort of ramped up as the film got closer. It started out for a couple of hours a day, then five hours a day, then more like eight hours and it was very intense but really fun, too.?

I get that not everyone loves Natalie Portman in general. She alienated a lot of people with both her defense of Roman Polanski, and her equating eating meat to rape. That makes her quite underwhelming as a person - however, if we?re just going on fashion and who brings it on the red carpet, Natalie is almost always my girl. This is what she wore for last night?s Black Swan premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. She?s just so? f-cking beautiful. It actually hurts me a little. Natalie is earning rave reviews from the festival circuit too - many think she might get an Oscar nomination (her second) for Black Swan. We?ll see - it might be too avant-garde for Academy voters, but Hollywood people seem to love her.
So I thought we?d do more photos from TIFF, just because there are so many. Here is my lover Vincent Cassel, also at last night?s Black Swan premiere. He looks delicious.

Continuing her promotional duties, Natalie Portman was spotted at the premiere of her new movie ?Black Swan? in Toronto, Canada last night (September 13).
The ?V for Vendetta? babe looked lovely as she posed with fellow actress Winona Ryder at Roy Thomson Hall as part of the 35th Toronto International Film Festival.
And of course, Miss Portman was looking top-notch, sporting a white and black cocktail dress teamed with a pair of black heels.
Unfortunately, Portman?s rival in the film, Mila Kunis, was unable to attend as she?s busy filming ?Friends with Benefits? alongside Justin Timberlake.

Continuing to make the most of her time overseas, Natalie Portman was on hand for the Hollywood Foreign Press Asscociation Cocktail Party in Venice, Italy on Thursday night (September 2).
Held at Style Lounge, the 29-year-old actress was decked out in a purple Jason Wu frock as she joined her "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky while promoting their movie during the 67th Venice Film Festival.
As previously reported by GossipCenter, Miss Portman helped to premiere "Black Swan" the previous day - with Natalie and the movie getting quite the warm reception.
Screen International's Mike Goodridge said, "If the film is ultimately too unsettling to snag main prizes, it has at least one nomination in the bag for lead actress Natalie Portman who gives one of 'those' performances, transforming herself after 10 months of training into an accomplished ballerina, almost uncomfortable to watch as she consumes her difficult role."
