| Rita Ora on the music industry: 'It has always been harder for females' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Rita Ora performed at several Jingle Balls last month. This is a photo of her on the NYC red carpet. Girlfriend looked like a fashion disaster from the front, and her cheeks were on full display in the back. Rita’s currently promoting her new gig as a judge on The Voice UK. She’s made a big fuss about an American takeover, but she’s still concentrating on the UK. She has a new interview with The Mirror, which claims Rita has amassed a $15 million fortune. I found that unbelievable at first because Rita’s only had a handful of hit singles. But she does have a fashion line, and she’s a face of Rimmel. Rita talks about some vapid stuff here, but she also discusses how hard it is to be female in the music industry:
On hotness: “I?m not going to deny it. If someone is hot, I?m going to say they?re hot, male or female, but it doesn?t mean I am going to go somewhere. It is just paying them a compliment.”
On flirting: “I don?t know what flirting is really. Sometimes in women friendliness comes across as flirting. That is not what it is. We get accused of flirting when we?re friendly or if we laugh at a joke, and it may not be as funny as other people think. I just have fun. I am 24, I have fun and I enjoy it.”
On women in music: “Without pulling the whole female card, I think it has always been harder for females in all aspects. Whenever we have an opinion it always seems to be taken out of proportion. As a woman in this industry it has always been a bit about proving yourself, so I?m proud to be on a panel with such successful men.”
Why some people fear feminism: “I think people take the word feminist really seriously and I think people are scared to use that word. In this industry, all the heads of labels are men. But every artist has to prove themselves, regardless of their sex. I have always been very vocal about the women sticking together. That’s my opinion.”
[From The Mirror]
I think Rita has a point about it being harder for females, and those difficulties extend far beyond the music and entertainment industries. The media does treat male and female artists differently. Dudes receive far more chances for bad behavior before being written off as a mess. At the same time, I think Rita is subtly referring to a very bitter Calvin Harris smashing her upcoming album to pieces. Sexism aside, it’s not smart for anyone to tie their success to a lover because relationships do go bad. Women already have a hard enough time succeeding without adding the whims of tantrum-throwing ex lovers to the mix.
Here’s a new 50 Shades poster from Rita’s Instagram account. She’s playing Christian Grey’s step-sister and told OK! that the movie “is going to make a lot of waves, I’ll tell you that much. It’s going to be awesome.”

Here’s Rita Ora at 103.5 KISS FM?s annual Jingle Ball in Chicago putting on exactly the type of great show we’ve come to expect from the busty British pop star. And just to be clear, I’m referring to her solid cleavage, not her singing. I’ve still never heard a single one of Rita’s songs and […]

She loves the holiday season and all that comes with it, and on Monday (November 3) Rita Ora had the privilege of illuminating the Christmas lights in London.
The ?How We Do? singer showed up at Westfield London in Shepherd?s Bush sporting a checkered culottes getup with Pink hair and a big smile as she threw the switch.
In embarrassing news, Rita tried to get her fans to give her 100,000 retweets in exchange for her new single, and she only ended up scoring about 1,850 mentions.
Ora tweeted, ?Dropping my new song Monday if this get 100,000 retweets.? When that didn?t happen, she tried to save face by posting, ?By the way my Twitter got hacked somebody is threatening to release new music I've worked really hard on. Nothing comes out until I'm ready.?
?Or the bots insist on it! When it?s ready we will drop music! Luckily I caught the hacker really quickly and deleted the post. Thank you!!?

Always up for a fun-filled evening, Rita Ora headed over to the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire to catch the Iggy Azalea concert last night (September 18).
The ?How We Do? singer wore her own Adidas Originals line, including a black leather and sheer dress with a black jacket overtop and even made a guest appearance on stage with the Australian rapper before the night was over.
From there, Rita and her boyfriend Ricky Hil hoped a plane to Japan and arrived at Narita International Airport on Friday morning (September 19).
Mr. Hil is the son of famed American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, though we?re not sure his dad would approve of the green hair.
