Rita Ora has a new interview with the Sun to promote her upcoming collaboration with Chris Brown. Yeah, that’s happening. Rita expresses the desire to finally get her “American takeover” on, and then she talks up Breezy. Rita comes right out and says Chris experiences “discrimination” for his past behavior. She never acknowledges that Chris’ violent behavior is still occurring. Rita seems blind to Breezy’s very real issues.
I wonder how much of Rita’s stance has to do with her ambition and how much is due to her alleged feud with Rihanna. Chris violently abused Rihanna in 2009, and he’s continued to be a tantrumy mess. There’s no love lost between the two women either. Rihanna reportedly banned Rita from her Met gala party. Rita has pulled some SWF moves on Rihanna, including the Tom Ford exchange. Now Rita says it doesn’t matter what Chris did in the past because he makes awesome music:
“Chris Brown is strong, powerful and someone that is important to me personally and professionally. The discrimination and all what people think? If you have a great song then no one cares. It?s really nice that we finally got together because, regardless of what?s happened, the song is just amazing.”
[From The Sun]
Chris Brown’s violent tendencies are very much an ongoing problem in his on-off relationship with Karrueche Tran. He still can’t control himself, and his temper results in broken windows and disturbingly territorial behavior. But Rita thinks Brown’s issues are all in the past, and anyone who thinks otherwise is guilty of “discrimination.” Amazing.

Rita Ora covers the July issue of Marie Claire to promote her role in Southpaw. This is the boxing movie where Jake Gyllenhaal buffed up his bod and started his Oscar campaign early by talking about the power of the moon on the cover of Esquire. Harvey Weinstein’s producing, so no wonder both Jake and Rita received prominent magazine features this month. Harvey previously described Rita’s performance as “breathtaking.” We’ll see how this plays out. Rita recently played Christian Grey’s sister for about 30 seconds, so no one really knows whether she can act. Maybe she’s better at acting than being a pop star. Here are some excerpts:
She used to DJ as a teen and pretend to be at sleepovers: “I would rip my T-shirts and be really punk and not clean. And I would have blonde hair, really dark eyebrows, red lipstick, lots of fake rings that made my fingers go green. I wouldn?t be smelling that great … But me and my friends, we were really, like, rebel-y. I feel like I lived a lot when I shouldn?t have.”
On love: “I?m afraid of being alone … I?m not afraid to admit that, you know. I?m not embarrassed to admit that. I just hope it?s not a never-ending cycle. Sometimes love just makes you feel crazy. And that feeling that we have as girls, just to have that feeling, even for five seconds, it’s like crack. I mean, dont compare it to that, but you know what I mean. It?s like comfort eating.”
On the Calvin Harris split: “There was a reason why I split up with him. And there was a reason why I?m at this point in my life where I feel like I have so much musical freedom, and I don?t have to explain myself to anybody? It was more of a thing where I was in awe. I was at that point in my relationship where I felt he could do no wrong. I thought he had my back and that he?d never steer me wrong. But then ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ came out, and everything started to go a bit weird. I don?t know if it was because business was mixed with personal or what.”
[From Marie Claire]
Of course Rita talked about Calvin during this interview (again). And why not? American audiences don’t know Rita very well, but we did hear about that messy breakup. Rita says, “there was a reason” for the breakup, but she’s only echoing Calvin’s own words with less profanity.
I do believe Rita when she says she’s hooked on love and afraid to be alone. Why else would anyone date Ricky Hilfiger? Rita freely admits to not being able to stay single for a moment. At least she’s being honest.

It?s been a crazy week for Rita Ora as she just had her wisdom teeth removed, and she has a silly video to go along with it.
On Thursday (April 9) the ?How We Do? singer uploaded a clip of herself coming out of the anesthesia-induced sleep and it sounded like she had poultry on the brain.
Ora stated, ?Chickens! Chickens!? as best as she could, though with the gauze in her mouth it was hard to decipher what she was saying. A nurse replied, ?Pardon? I don?t know what you?re saying. But that?s okay, you don?t need to talk.? Rita captioned the video, ?So I just took my wisdom teeth out and I think what I?m trying to say is chickens?.oh god watching this back I don?t remember anything!!!!! Straight to bed for me?byeeeeee.?

She?s always up for a photo shoot and Rita Ora was ravishing in red at the Coca-Cola Centenary Bar in London, England on Thursday (March 19).
The ?How We Do? singer did her best Jessica Rabbit impression as she smiled for the cameras in celebration of 100 years of the Coca-Cola Contour Bottle.
Meanwhile, Wednesday night (March 18) Rita appeared on the season finale of ?Empire,? singing ?NY Raining? at a party for Lucious Lyon. Ora told press, "'NY Raining' is one of my favorite songs that I have recorded, and I am so honored to have been asked to perform it with Charles on the Empire season finale. Both as a viewer and as a performer on the show, I cannot wait to tune in to watch what happens next."

Rita Ora covers the April issue of InStyle UK in an Asian-inspired spread with lots of fabulous prints and relevant architecture lurking in the background. She’s promoting her role as Christian Grey’s sister in 50 Shades. Rita’s hustled plenty for this film, which seems unfair since she only snagged less than a minute of screentime. Critics called her out on the “blink and you’ll miss it” role, and Rita grew indignant. She’s already signed on for two sequels and promises her role will grow more substantial. If I were Rita, I’d be thrilled to skip out on this mess. She can still include the film in her repertoire, and Rita has a firm supporter in Harvey Weinstein. She may be set for the next few years no matter what. Here are some InStyle excerpts:
Her career setbacks:“I’ve been told ‘no’ so many times in my career. It doesn’t mean it’s over … I can remember every single ‘no’ I’ve been told in my life. They do not leave my brain. But they build you up.”
On snagging the 50 Shades role: “I said I’d love to involved as I was such a fan of the book. And then Sam said, ‘Well, why don’t you audition?’ And I said, ‘Sure … I’ve got a few song ideas, I could send them over…’ and she said, ‘No, why don’t you audition for the movie?’ And I was like, ‘What?, I’ve done a bit of acting, but honestly didn’t expect to be put into that role. I thought, what have I got to lose? I auditioned like everybody else — there were a lot of other people in the frame. I didn’t get any special treatment. I perfected my American accent, one thing led to another, and I got it.”
She rejected The Voice: “I said no straight away. I love the show but I wanted to focus on my second album. And then I spoke to will.I.am and he said “Listen, if you don’t do it, I won’t do it.’”
[From InStyle UK]
I’ve said this before — Rita’s musical appeal evades my sensibilities, but her unparallelled hustle works wonders. She plays a good game, which may only have temporary results, but it’s still an admirable haul. I don’t think anyone can judge her acting prowess by four lines in 50 Shades, but we’ll see how she fares in the coming years. At this point, producers could slip anyone into the cast slots and make it work.
FYI, here’s Rita in a silly blue fur coat in London last weekend. Rita attended the same event as Kim Kardashian, they both wore the same Pink latex dress. No wonder Rita kept her coat on outside the venue.

Rita Ora covers the March issue of Nylon to promote her role in 50 Shades as Christian Grey’s sister. Never let it be said that Rita doesn’t push her projects. She’s been talking about this role for over a year. Those who have seen 50 Shades are poking Rita on Twitter because she’s barely in the movie. People say she’s got anywhere between 3 and 90 seconds of screentime. That’s tough. Rita IS full of herself, so it’s funny that she may have ended up on the cutting room floor. Is her role very large in the books? I don’t know.
I’m ignoring the 50 Shades bits in this interview because ugh. Rita talks about other stuff like fashion and her new music. She never mentions Calvin Harris’ name, but the claws are out. After their bad romance ended, Calvin tossed epic shade at Rita and yanked his songs from her album. It’s going to be fine. Rita can throw shade too!
She’s matured as an artist: “It was a process to be like, ‘F*** it! I’m just gonna be me.’ With the first album, I was so hyped up to be signed with Jay Z. I was like, ‘Whatever! Jay f***in’ Z!’ Two, three years later, I was like, ‘You know what? People are actually interested in what I’m saying and how I’m dressing and how I’m acting.’ It’s like, ‘Yeah, I grew up and I looked at my a**, and it got a bit bigger and I’m sexier now.’ Might as well flaunt it! I feel more womanly.”
Her changing vision: “I had a breakup, or whatever, and it really made me realize what I was trying to do. I had been fixated on this love fantasy, but really it wasn’t like that, and I had to take myself back. For me, this was my moment where I had to be real and tell the truth and be honest. I love my pop songs, and I’m still gonna be pop, but this has just got a lot more depth to it.”
Rita is “punk”: The fashion world “needs confidence. It needs a massive boost. It needs a kind of, like, ‘F*** you.’ It needs another Madonna … which it’s not gonna get. But it needs a person who takes chances. You have amazing girls like Emma Watson–glamorous, gorgeous, clean, beautiful girls. But where’s that punk energy? That fun, crazy, respected but still like, ‘S–t, she’s just doing her thing’ person? That’s who I am!”
[From E! Online]
Rita is a “punk” fashionista now? I don’t understand what she’s saying about maturing as an artist. Her tush got bigger, so she’s more of a woman and therefore more mature? Maybe something got lost in journalistic translation. Rita recently twerked in a bikini for Instagram, which wasn’t very mature.
Anyway. I’m sure Calvin will catch wind of Rita dissing his shallow songs. I wonder who’s writing her new tunes because it isn’t her.

| Rita Ora: 'Females will never be comfortable in their own skin' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Rita Ora has a new interview with The Sunday Times to promote her role as judge on The Voice UK. Rita’s been juggling her pop star duties with this judge gig and working on launching her acting career. She’s reportedly a “breathtaking” actress according to Harvey Weinstein, but we know all about Harvey and his Marchesa ambitions. Rita’s not a triple threat or anything. She does have hustle, and she’s growing on me. In this interview, Rita talks about body insecurities and lack of confidence. I was with her until she generalized about all females:
Her troubled confidence: “I dyed my hair when I was 14 to make me feel sexy. But I’m a female, and females will never be comfortable in their own skin: I feel I’ve got a muffin top, that I can work on my butt. I try to stay healthy.”
Ballet classes didn’t help: “Every Thursday, we had to wear tight clothing for ballet. You could see every bump and curve. And me and this other girl were the only ones who had breasts early on, and I’d try to cover them, hunching my shoulders. That is why my posture is still sh*t.”
She’ll never write about her ex-boyfriends: “I don’t think I care enough about them to write a song about them. I will be unleashed but I know my limits.”
[From The Sunday Times]
Not every single woman feels uncomfortable in her skin. Sure, more women than men worry about body image, but there are wholly confident women in this world. I’ve known a couple of them really well over the years. Not me, of course. I do have that one pesky body part in need of improvement, but let’s change the subject.
Should we give Rita credit for vowing to never write about Rob Kardashian or Calvin Harris because smear songs? Smear songs are so overdone. But Rita doesn’t really write her own songs. That’s why Calvin was able to spitefully call the shots over the songs they recorded together. He wrote almost everything.
Oh, and did you realize that Rita is now an Oscar-nominated singer? Sort of. She and Diane Warren received a nod for their song, “Grateful,” from Beyond the Lights. The only problem is that Rita’s name wasn’t included on the official list of nominees. Coincidentally (or not), Rita hasn’t promoted this nomination, and Diane is miffed at Rita (who will perform the song at the Oscars). Drama.
