Rita Ora has a new interview with The Sun where she talks about how her first boyfriend kind of messed her up. Rita dated a 26-year-old man when she was 14, which is horrific to behold, but it happens more than one would suspect. The mindset of a guy who would think this was okay is pretty scary. Rita was in theater school in London, and she was (naturally) flattered that an adult male would pay attention to her. We talk about this issue a lot with respect to Kylie Jenner and Tyga’s romance and how the press thought they were so cute when Kylie was 17. Yet the age gap that Rita refers to is even more blatant. Here’s what Rita had to say about how she finally realized that the guy was doing the wrong thing:
Her first boyfriend: “I was 14 when I had my first relationship with a guy. I would say (he was) about 26, and you have to remember I hadn’t had a relationship before then at all. I was very new to the whole world of a man and a female. … It’s child abuse really, isn’t it?”
How she felt: “I can’t begin to tell you how confident I felt when a man was interested in me. I felt like I was sexy, I felt like I had a form of respect, I felt like he listened to me. Now I know he listened to me because he obviously wanted to have sex with me. I felt good that men fancied me.”

Well, I can believe it was easy for Rita to fall under a man’s spell when she was only a teenager. And barely a teenager at that! When I was 18, a 26-year-old guy mopped the floor with me because I was such an impressionable romantic at the time. Guys who prey on barely legal teenagers are banking on that level of ignorance, but when they go much younger, there’s something seriously wrong, and there’s a reason why statutory rape laws exist. Rita is correct — it is child abuse. Where were her parents?

Rita Ora has a reputation for dating messy guys who lead to messier breakups. Well, other than Ricky Hilfiger, who seemed ok with it when he and Rita recently broke up. But Rita usually dates guys who get publicly dramatic over splits. Such as Rob Kardashian, who said she cheated with 20 dudes, and Calvin Harris, who blocked her from performing songs and said she deserved it for a “damn good reason.” Rita has been single for a hot minute, so it’s time for her to find another messy boyfriend. Enter Travis Barker, whose public battle with ex-wife Shanna Moakler led to mutual arrests and death threats. Yikes. Us Weekly says Rita and Travis are quite the hot couple now:
On to the next one! Rita Ora is dating Travis Barker, Us Weekly can confirm. The “I Will Never Let You Down” songstress and Blink 182 frontman have been getting cozy ever since meeting at the Power 106 All-Star Game on Sept. 20 in Los Angeles.
“Rita sought him out and gave him her info,” an insider tells Us of the singer, 24. “They have been together every day since.”
And the rocker, 39, isn’t complaining. “He’s really into her,” the source tells Us. “He likes interesting women and she’s beautiful.” Ora and Barker also bond over their love for music.
Barker, who was married to Shanna Moakler from 2004 to 2009 and shares Son Landon, 11, and daughter Alabama, 9, with her, was previously linked to UFC ring girl Arianny Celeste.
Ora just recently split from her boyfriend of over a year, Tommy Hilfiger’s son Ricky Hilfiger, this past July. “They were both too busy, the distance got hard, and both agreed that it was better for them to be single but stay friends,” a source close to Tommy’s rapper son tells Us.

This is a terrible idea on Rita’s behalf, but I assume she’s aware of Travis’ reputation, so… good luck girl. Rita also has a new interview with Yahoo, and she talks about stuff like her second makeup line with Rimmel. She also calls herself “a free-thinking artist” who “likes to spread my wings.” Rita says the first thing her fans say to her is “thank you so much for being so comfortable in your skin.” Really? Rita actually seems insecure since she’s always bragging. I also wouldn’t dream of saying that to a famous person, but I’m the type to start walking into walls when meeting one.
One more bit of Rita news. Sam Bailey, who won X-Factor in 2013, trashed Rita and says she has no business judging music because she “got a record deal straight out of drama school.” Sam says Rita hasn’t paid her dues or worked any difficult jobs before making it in entertainment. Justified?

Rita Ora covers the October issue of Marie Claire UK to promote Southpaw. I have still not heard anyone except for Harvey Weinstein rave about Rita’s “breathtaking” performance, but I don’t think she had too much airtime. In this interview, Rita drags up the old Calvin Harris business again. She’s not over him at all, but I miss the days when they threw epic shade at each other and fought over his songs that he wrote for her.
Rita also brings up her American “takeover” again. She’s used this word for over a year, and she apparently discusses it again. Is she kidding? I’m really not sure. Some excerpts:
On her “takeover“: “Oh, it is in full effect. We’re these conniving Kosovan hungry bitches, I knew that one way or another, I was going to do things my way.”
On her style: “I would rip my T-shirts and be really punk and not clean, And I would have blonde hair, really dark eyebrows, red lipstick, lots of fake rings that made my fingers go green.”
On relationship issues: “I’m afraid of being alone. Sometimes love just makes you feel crazy. And that feeling that we have as girls, just to have that feeling, even for five seconds, it’s like crack. I mean, don’t compare it to that, but you know what I mean. Crack is whack!”
On her break up with Calvin: “There was a reason why I split up with him. It was more of a thing where I was in awe. I was at that point in my relationship where I felt he could do no wrong. I thought he had my back and that he’d never steer me wrong. But then ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ came out, and everything started to go a bit weird. I don’t know if it was because business was mixed with personal or what.”

Some outlets seem to think Rita is sending a secret message to Taylor Swift to not trust Calvin. I think they’re reading too much into this mess. Rita just wanted to trash Calvin again for old time’s sake. He sort of deserves it because he trashed her so much too, but enough already.
Rita also recently talked to Hollywood Reporter about Miley Cyrus’s chronic nudity, and Rita approves. She compares Miley to Madonna because they’re both comfy in their own skin, and “artists who are willing to do it only come along once in a blue moon.” Eh, not really.

Rita Ora has a new Q/A style interview with the Guardian to promote Southpaw, which already came and went in theaters in July. It made a little money, although I don’t know if Jake Gyllenhaal will receive the Oscar nod he was going for. And I didn’t hear anything, positive or negative, about Rita’s appearance in the film. Harvey Weinstein said she was “breathtaking“ in it, but Harvey tends to be easily enthused, especially when it comes to making someone wear Marchesa on the red carpet. Here’s some excerpts from Rita’s interview:
Her greatest fear: “Playing hide and seek in a cemetery in Earl?s Court when I was seven – no one found me and I thought I was going to get stolen by ghosts.”
Her most embarrassing moment: “My first ‘nip slip,’ at Lovebox, 2009.”
Her most prized possession: “My new dog, Cher. She?s a maltipoo.”
Her screensaver: “An old Versace campaign with Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer.”
Her least favorite body part: “My butt and my upper thighs.”
Who would play you in the film of your life?: “Julianne Moore. She is beautiful.”

I feel for her on the anxiety issue. There are few things more immediately confusing and terrifying than a panic attack. The symptoms mimic so many other (very dangerous) physical ailments, so it’s good that Rita found help. Regular therapy can also help some people (although it doesn’t make a blip for others). Does anyone else find it hilarious that Rita namedropped her first nipslip as her most embarrassing moment? She seems to remember the exact time and place that it happened, right down to the outfit. When cameras are flashing, perhaps it’s easier to have the mortification burned into one’s memory. Poor Rita, but she’ll be fine.

Rita recalls, "Simon and I planned to meet and just chat. There wasn't any pressure. We could only meet around midnight 'cause we were so busy. So we met at his place in west London. We spoke about the changes in the show, about his goals and aims, and I started to agree with the changes that were gonna happen?. We had a two-hour conversation and I really liked his vision. And on that fact only, I looked at my diary, I spoke to my team because it is a lot of commitment. And having that responsibility of being able to change someone's life is beyond pressure."

Gearing up for a new chapter in her career, Rita Ora arrived at Event City in Manchester, England to take her seat at the judges? table for ?The X Factor? auditions on Wednesday (July 8).
The 24-year-old ?How We Do? singer was hard to miss due to her ravishing red dress as she smiled for the cameras and greeted the crowd of hopefuls before scurrying inside.
Rita will serve as judge alongside Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Simon Cowell and Nick Grimshaw for the upcoming season. She posted to Instagram, ?Manchester day 1 X-Factor. I'm soooooooo excited!!! Got a swollen tonsil but it's all good!! We're survivors!?
