Something I realized lately is that Jennifer Lawrence is wearing other designers besides Dior for her red carpet appearances. Of all the celebrity fashion contracts, only Margot Robbies doomed stint with Chanel has yielded worse results to me. Jennifers essence is so casual and breezy. Dior is too prim and proper for her. Ive liked some of her non-Dior looks while shes promoting her new comedy, No Hard Feelings (although this look was kind of an abomination). Comedy seems like such a perfect fit for Jennifer, I hope she gets to do more of them. She was interviewed by Cameron Diaz for Interview mag, and it seems like they are buddies. They talked about the lack of R-rated comedies in recent years, how motherhood has affected Jennifers career, and how she runs her production company, Excellent Cadaver, with her producing partner and friend Justine. Jennifers really proud of No Hard Feelings and it totally shows.
Jennifer feels like shes found a new sweet spot with comedy:
DIAZ: Okay. I?m super excited about No Hard Feelings. This is something you were born to do, hard R comedies. It might be your sweet spot.
LAWRENCE: Whatever I was feeling while making that movie, if that?s my sweet spot, then I don?t ever want to do anything else.
There arent enough comedies aimed at adults:
DIAZ: That comes down to, why are not that many of those comedies being made? What is wrong with the audience or society?
LAWRENCE: We just need the laugh right now, because we?re living in a nightmare. I snuck into one of the test screenings, and being surrounded by people laughing makes things funnier. It?s not the same when you?re alone in your living room.
Motherhood has made Jennifer more selective about what projects she does:
DIAZ: So how is it for you in-between projects? Especially now that you?re a mom, are you feeling like you want to spend time at home? Or does it feel like you can still squeeze in a project here and there?
LAWRENCE: There?s no squeezing when you have a baby. There?s just home, and it?s the best. It definitely helps weed out projects: ?Yes. No. Yes. No. Yes. No. Is this worth being away from my child for half the day??
How she gets things done with her producing partner, Justine Ciarrocchi:
LAWRENCE: I?ve worked with people where it?s a good cop and a bad cop. Justine and I like to think that it?s good cop, good cop. You don?t have to be an asshole to get things done.
DIAZ: Absolutely. I kind of shy away from the question of, is it because you?re both women? But do you feel like women approach problem-solving in a different way than men do?
LAWRENCE: Women have been welcomed?I don?t want to say welcomed?allowed, into more parts of the industry. I can?t speak for every woman but there?s this extra gusto. You want to prove yourself, and you?ve had to do everything the hard way for a really, really long time. So you?re just used to not being able to ask somebody to do something for you.
[From Interview Magazine]
I think what Jennifers saying about being a woman rings true in just about any industry. We have to work harder at baseline to be taken seriously. But Hollywood seems to really attract and protect toxic men in positions of power. It always has. (See also: Louis B. Mayer.) For most of the industrys history, the unofficial mantra has been, you have to be an ahole to get things done/make great art. It will be interesting to see if production companies like Jennifers can meaningfully change that. I didnt realize that her company, Excellent Cadaver, produced the documentary Bread and Roses. Its a film about what women in Afghanistan are going through under the Taliban. I know it premiered in France but Im unsure if its been picked up by a distributor. Anyway its interesting to see that Jennifers company produced a film like that and a raunchy sex comedy. Thats range.
Ive never been one for hard R comedies, honestlyit just isnt my vibe. But I do think its perfect for Jennifer. She can do screwball raunchy comedy in her sleep. No wonder shes so proud of this movie. Am I going to watch it? Probably not. Am I going to continue to refer to it as the Buick Movie? Yes. Am I happy Jennifers happy? Also yes.

Given the likelihood of an actors? strike, I imagine we?ll see a rush of actors promoting their projects in the coming weeks. Jennifer Lawrence must be happy that her promotional tour for No Hard Feelings is already ongoing she was in London at the beginning of the week, and then the tour moved to Madrid. These are photos from the photocall and premiere events in Spain.
At the photocall, J-Law wore a short, flouncy Alaia shirtdress which looked great on her, even if it?s not what I would have put her in. I get the vibe she was going for though it?s a racy comedy, she wanted to wear something sexy and cute. But then she wore this Loewe dress for the premiere and I have no words. I still don?t really understand why so many celebrity women are obsessed with Loewe, honestly. So many of the designs are just stunt-fashion, not real craftsmanship or anything flattering. Loewe designed that balloon-boob dress, remember that? Well, this dress on J-Law is completely awful. It?s supposed to be structured so it looks like it?s floating on her body, except that?s not what it looks like. It looks like someone stuck cardboard inserts into an oversized dress. The nude color does nothing for Jennifer either.
As much as I hate J-Law?s Dior contract, I will take Dior?s prom dresses over this sh-t any day of the week.

Jennifer Lawrence truly went off the radar for a little while, got married, and had a baby. But now shes easing her way back into the movie-making and celebrity world. She has a new movie coming out, No Hard Feelings, that seems like lowkey spon-con for.wait for itBuick. Yeah, the old-school luxury imprint for General Motors. This is their marketing strategy, sponsoring a movie where a 32-year-old played by Jennifer Lawrence agrees to date a 19 year old wallflower in exchange fora used Buick Regal. Is Buick trying to appeal to a younger, hipper consumer by making their car a major plot point in a raunchy R-rated comedy? Lord, beer me strength.
I went off on a tangent there but it is an exceptionally silly corporate gambit that I believe deserves to be made fun of. I think the people making the film were happy to have any help they could get. Its hard to get original features financed these days. While promoting the Buick Movie, she said something in an interview for Variety that surprised me: she says shed happily play Katniss Everdeen againthe Hunger Games character that made her a star. I never really got the vibe that shed be down to return to that world.
Jennifer Lawrence is ready to play the girl on fire again.
The Oscar winner says she is open to returning to the ?Hunger Games? franchise after she became a household name for her work as Katniss in the four movies.
?Oh, my God ? totally!? Lawrence told me Friday morning during a Zoom video interview while promoting her new R-rated coming-of-age comedy, ?No Hard Feelings.? ?If Katniss ever could ever come back into my life, 100 percent.?
Looking off camera, she added, ?My producing partner just clutched her heart.?
The four ?Hunger Games? installments starred Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland and Woody Harrelson. The first, released in 2012, was directed by Gary Ross with the following three helmed by Francis Lawrence.
An upcoming prequel movie, ?The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,? stars Viola Davis, Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth, Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman and Hunter Schafer. The film chronicles Coriolanus Snow?s rise to power to become President of Panem. It is set for release Nov. 17.
[From Variety]
I remember seeing the first Hunger Games movie in college and I wont lie, I found Jennifers performance in it quite moving. Its probably because I identify with Katniss, the protective older sister. But I think the source material isnt that good. The fourth book sort of ruined the whole thing for me. Im sure Jennifer would be great as an older Katniss, maybe just coming to terms with the extraordinary trauma that the character faced as a child. But I cannot stress enough how tired I am of sequels and prequels. And honestly I think Jennifer deserves better. She has been in some questionable projects (remember Passengers?) but when shes given the right material, she does great work. Everybody deserves better in Hollywood, frankly. Viola Davis, who is a queen and who elevates every single project she appears in, deserves better than a Hunger Games prequel, Ill just say it. I think audiences are getting tired of nothing but franchises and kids films at the multiplex. Theres a sea change ahead, I hope. Streaming isnt working as a business model, nobodys going to the movies as often as they did five or ten years ago, and even Marvel movies arent always the surest betsI dont think Hollywood has been this destabilized since the collapse of the old studio system in the 1950s. Maybe something good will come out of it.

Here are some photos of Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Barth Feldman at the London premiere of their comedy No Hard Feelings. While it feels strange to see J-Law in an ?80s-style raunchy sex comedy in the year of our lord Beyonce 2023, it seems like a natural choice for her. She?s done it all high drama, science fiction, franchise films, Oscar-bait movies, period pieces. Why not a raunchy comedy? Apparently, she was looking for something lighter and something fun, and she told reporters at the premiere that nothing had made her laugh as much as this script.
At the premiere, Jennifer wore Dior. Those are Dior gloves. Her jewelry is Tiffany & Co and Anita Ko. Like? unpopular opinion, but J-Law has never been a fashionista or a Fashion Girl. Once she got that Dior contract in her 20s, that was it and she just has Dior send her stuff for all of her events. It?s easy for her and I respect that. Dior is doing her dirty though. I?m sure the craftsmanship on the appliques and beading would blow me away, but the overall effect is just? J-Law wearing a stuffy, fussy, wannabe matronly/vintage look for the premiere of a raunchy sex comedy? The gloves don?t help either, although this is one of the better gloved looks we?ve seen recently.
True story: Andrew Barth Feldman delayed his matriculation into Harvard so he could film this with Jennifer. Amazing.

| | Jennifer Lawrence wore Dior for the Governors Awards: surprisingly good? | | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The Governors Awards were held this weekend in LA. The Governors Awards started out as a sedate, invitation-only Academy event to honor the special Oscar winners, as in the lifetime achievement award winners and such. The Academy wanted to give those honorees their own night. In recent years, the Governors Awards has become another stop for Oscar campaign hopefuls, and it?s very, very well-attended by Hollywood A-listers. This year?s awards recipients were Michael J. Fox, Diane Warren, Euzhan Palcy and Peter Weir. You can read more about this year?s Governors Awards here.
Jennifer Lawrence was one of the A-listers out for the night, with her ?date? Brian Tyree Henry (they?re costars and friends). J-Law wore Christian Dior, obvs. This one is pretty good? It?s not a patterned fabric, it?s tulle with snowflakes, flowers and stars appliques.
Olivia Wilde wore Erdem. It?s not really her style? She usually goes for sleek, ?90s or ?70s-style designs. This is actually one of the reasons why I thought Olivia and Harry Styles broke up a while ago Olivia has been going to every event in LA recently, like she really wants to be seen out and about? alone.
Florence Pugh was there!! OMG, do you think she completely ignored Olivia? I bet she did. Flo wore Victoria Beckham Spring-Summer 2023. It?s okay?
Margot Robbie in Bottega Veneta. Rumor is, her Chanel contract expired? Good. This looks amazing on her.
Viola Davis in Christopher John Rogers. One of my favorite gowns Viola has ever worn. She looks incredible and the colors are amazing on her.
Mindy Kaling in Versace. She looks great! She also looks a little bit ?worked on.?
Taylor Russell in Schiaparelli Fall-Winter 2022. The dress and the earrings are attached?? It?s an interesting look but YIKES.
Honorary Award recipient Euzhan Palcy and Jude Law!

Jennifer Lawrence is currently promoting Causeway, which streams on AppleTV. She produced the film and shot half of it before the pandemic and half of it during the pandemic. She was also pregnant during the second part of filming. She plays a veteran dealing with a traumatic brain injury. She?s incredibly proud of the film, and she hopes this marks a new era of her career, where she?s doing smaller, more character-driven films. To promote Causeway, she chatted with the New York Times about the shift she?s made in the past three years. She stepped away from the limelight, met Cooke Maroney, married him and gave birth to their son Cy Maroney. She?s spent a lot of time just? existing as a normal person without all of the celebrity rigmarole. Some highlights from the NYT:
Why she left CAA: Some of her representatives had steered her away from smaller material like ?Causeway,? warning that her audience wouldn?t understand. ?I found out that a lot of filmmakers that I really loved and admired had scripts that weren?t even reaching me,? she said? in August 2018, as she wrapped reshoots for the ?X-Men? film ?Dark Phoenix,? she left CAA, the agency that represented her for 10 years. ?I had let myself be hijacked,? she said.
The film that changed her career in a negative way: ??Passengers,? I guess. Adele told me not to do it! She was like, ?I feel like space movies are the new vampire movies.? I should have listened to her.?
Some celebrities grow so isolated by their celebrity that you can no longer detect anything real in their screen performances. ?That can happen. And that was going to happen to me.?
On Causeway: ?I obviously cannot relate to risking my life for my country but I can understand, reading ?Causeway,? why I?m getting so emotional about somebody who doesn?t feel like they belong anywhere unless they?re on a schedule.?
Fear of commitment: ?When you don?t fully know yourself, you have no idea where to put yourself. And then I met my husband, and he was like, ?Put yourself here.? I was like, ?That feels right, but what if it?s not??? In retrospect, Lawrence realized she was having commitment anxiety, ?and it was coming out of my performance in all these different creative ways, but I wasn?t conscious of it. Then I went back, and when I?m home with my husband making this family, I?m so happy I stayed. I?m so happy I didn?t freak out and cancel the wedding and run away and go, ?I?ll never be taken down!??
Changing her name to ?Jenna Maroney? (like the 30 Rock character): ?I thought I was the only one who noticed that! God, I had such a feminist meltdown about changing my name because it?s my identity, it?s the first thing I?m given. I was born with the name Jennifer Lawrence, but that got taken from me when I was 21 and I never got it back. So it didn?t feel like I was giving up anything. That name already belongs to them.?
She?s not the ingnue any

Jennifer Lawrence walked the red carpet at the BFI London Film Festival premiere of Causeway, J-Law?s new film and her first film as a producer. I was looking at these photos and I got really excited, thinking that Dior had finally designed something special and cool just for J-Law. Not so much! This dress isn?t Dior, it?s by Del Core. Those aren?t polka-dots, they?re sewn-in pearls. The dress is kind of a mess at the very bottom, but otherwise, it?s really good. I?m glad she?s not wearing another boring Dior.
Jennifer did press in at the film festival and she ended up talking about how crazy it was for her right after the first Hunger Games movie came out and then she won the Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook (both films came out in 2012).
Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she sensed a loss of control in the wake of the huge success of the first ?Hunger Games? film in 2012. Talking to Francine Stock about her career as part of the London Film Festival?s ?Screen Talk? series, Lawrence opened up about her feelings on working in the hit franchise.
?I think I lost a sense of control. Between ?The Hunger Games? coming out and winning the Oscar [for 2012?s ?Silver Lining Playbook?], I became such a commodity that I felt like every decision was a big, big group decision. When I reflect now, I can?t think of those following years, [because there was] just a loss of control.?
Lawrence went on to explain how she feels she has clawed her identity back again. ?It feels personal for me the first time in a long time,? she said.
[From Variety]
Yeah, there was maybe a six-year span when she was just terribly overexposed and overworked. It was film set after film set, premiere after premiere interview after interview. It would often feel wall-to-wall. It didn?t help that J-Law seemed to be a chronic oversharer too, but I?m sure part of that was just Jennifer being a young woman who was in over her head and trying to describe what it was like for her. A loss of control, for sure. Being able to ?go away,? take a break from making movies, getting married and having a baby? it sounds like that did ground her a lot.

Here are some photos of Jennifer Lawrence outside of Stephen Colbert?s Late Show studio. Polka dots on a pregnant woman! It happens a lot. I think when designers are making maternity clothes, they think polka dots will look very cute and perhaps even bump-distracting. For this dress, the polka dots are almost an optical illusion, especially from the front. It?s weird. Anyway, I feel sort of bad for J-Law, having to promote Don?t Look Up during her last trimester, and this is her first big promotion in several years. On the red carpet for the premiere on Sunday, Jennifer basically said that she was having an out-of-body experience: ?Im, like, not here ? if that makes sense. Im not processing [it].
What else? J-Law broke off one of her veneers during filming and she couldn?t get it replaced until the film wrapped. She said, during a panel: ?I lost a tooth pretty early in the filming. And I couldn?t go to the dentist until the end of the movie, so I had to film most of the movie toothless.? She was, as always, quite accident-prone on this film. Production had to be shut down one day after she hurt her eye during filming. There were other injuries too.
Here are some clips from her Colbert interview:

Last night was the New York premiere for Don?t Look Up, the star-studded ensemble film directed by Adam McKay. It premieres on Netflix this coming weekend and I?m looking forward to seeing it. It looks like an enjoyable comedy and you can?t argue with the cast. Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio are the ?leads,? they play scientists who discover the comet which is about to hit earth and kill everybody, leading to huge shenanigans. Leo honestly looked a bit nervous to be photographed with a heavily pregnant woman. There was panic in his eyes. Leo, it?s not yours!!
J-Law wore Dior, a customized gown to accommodate her pregnancy. It?s been a while since we?ve seen her in a Dior gown and this is one of the better ones. That sheer fabric isn?t a cape, those are just fabric panels which are supposed to look sort of like ?sleeves.? The dress is very glittery and well-made and Jennifer looked elegant. I?m sure her feet hurt! This was her first premiere in two years. Her jewelry is Tiffany & Co.
There weren?t many solo pics of Meryl Streep, but her dress is Marc Jacobs. Jonah Hill is blonde and shirtless (but not jacket-less) and he attended the premiere with his girlfriend Sarah Brady. Florence Pugh isn?t in the film, but I guess she wanted to see it because she turned up at the premiere too. She wore an insane Dolce & Gabbana ensemble which was totally wrong for New York in December. Bonus: Kid Cudi wearing teddy bears on his feet.

There?s been a lot of baby talk this week, what with Cardi B revealing she gave birth to a boy, Alicia Vikander revealing that she gave birth to a Fassbaby at some point in the past year, Kylie Jenner confirming her pregnancy too, plus the mess with John Mulaney and his girlfriend. At some point, I did think to myself ?I wonder if that?s why we haven?t heard from Jennifer Lawrence in a while, maybe she?s secretly pregnant too.? Yep.
Jennifer Lawrence is pregnant! The 31-year-old Oscar winner is expecting her first child with her husband, art gallery director Cooke Maroney, PEOPLE can exclusively confirm.
The actress rep confirmed the happy baby news to PEOPLE on Wednesday.
Lawrence and Maroney were first linked in June 2018 and the star and the art dealer, 37, were engaged the following February. The couple tied the knot on Oct. 19, 2019, in Rhode Island.
[From People]
A Maroney Baby is coming! I feel like she only would have confirmed this if she was pretty far along and/or she was trying to get ahead of an inevitable ?bump reveal? via paparazzi photos. She?s got some promotion to do in a few months for Don?t Look Up, which comes out in December. She already wrapped on another film, although she?s got two big projects yet to film, Mob Girl and the Elizabeth Holmes/Bad Blood movie. I guess those films will be delayed. Which is fine, sometimes stuff gets delayed. Anyway, congrats to J-Law and Cooke.
Oh, Netflix released their new trailer for Don?t Look Up! Don?t even say a word about J-Law?s wig in this movie. Just? don?t. I cannot.
