| Kristen Stewart never has to 'beg?: 'I can get any role with a snap of my fingers' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

As I discussed briefly yesterday, Juliette Binoche and Kristen Stewart cover the German edition of Interview magazine (the September issue). They?re promoting Clouds of Sils Maria and the ?interview? is pretty much a discussion between the two women, with no formal interviewer or anything. The Kristen fanatics finally managed to do a decent translation of the piece and I couldn?t even get through it because there was so much awkwardness and ass-kissing. You can read the full piece here. We got a tip about one part of their exchange where it seems like Kristen is bragging about where she is in her career and how she could get any part she wanted:
Juliette: I find it funny that people think strong feelings can be overcome while you?re doing only art-house movies. Of course, give me the freedom, and I?d do art-house only. But the success of these movies is an incredible luck. So you have to learn how to juggle, to experience the whole range of feelings in every movie.
Kristen: I also hate when people say, one role for yourself, one ? for audience. Bulls–t.
J: I agree.
K: Everything I do, I do for myself. Blockbuster, art-house or Chanel commercial ? it doesn?t matter. It could seem that after a successful movie I can allow myself anything. And you know what? I can! It?s incredible: I can do anything I f–king want. Yes, I?m in this unconscionably privileged position. And I?m not ashamed.
J: Good.
K: I never have to beg for a role, I can get any role with a snap of my fingers, and I don?t have to fight and struggle on my way up, like some other actors. I imagine a huge map with lots of streets and roads, and the only thing I have to do ? is choose, where do I want to stay. Every door is open for me. I had a conscienceless amount of luck in my life. And it?s enough to understand: I love to play in blockbusters because I know, everyone?d watch them, they attract people, they?re easy to take and they?re enjoyable.
[From Interview Germany, via Kstewfans]
Granted, this is a translation so maybe there?s a tonal issue that we?re missing, but I believe this translation is probably pretty accurate. I think Kristen said this or something close to it. I think she was attempting to acknowledge that she doesn?t have to struggle and bust her ass like so many of the actresses in her age bracket. I think she was trying to own her elevated place in the Hollywood food chain. But I also think she?s wrong ? her career took a major hit after her affair with Rupert Sanders and she?s only crawling out of that scandal now, two years later. I also think that while she?ll always be rich and famous, she?ll never be a top-tier Oscar-winner and respected and beloved actress like, say, Jennifer Lawrence. There are lots of scripts that J-Law gets that Kristen will never see, you know?

| Kristen Stewart seems surprisingly good (??) in the first trailer for 'Camp X-Ray' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I have to admit something strange? for me. It seems like Kristen Stewart has two films coming out that look like her best work in years and years. In May, Kristen went to Cannes to support Clouds of Sils Maria, where she plays Juliette Binoche?s personal assistant/daughter figure. That film got great reviews and I totally want to see it (mostly for Binoche, but Kristen looks solid too). And now the trailer has come out for Camp X-Ray, which debuted at Sundance earlier this year. And damn, this looks good too. I?ll fully admit that I thought it was a bad idea to send Lip-Bite McGee into Gitmo for some kind of character study about the War on Terror. But this trailer makes it look really good:
The image of Kristen?s guard and Payman Maadi?s detainee touching through the hole in the door is so moving. And Kristen ? with little to no makeup ? looks completely appropriate as a young, somewhat nave soldier. I tend to think that Gitmo guards are probably mostly men, and bigger men at that, but there are lots of women who work at Gitmo. I recently listened to an NPR segment about the camp and the small community of soldiers, intelligence officers, JAG lawyers and their families living at the base. This seems reasonably realistic to me, and it looks like a career-best performance from Kristen. Damn. Am I going to need to change my mind about her?

Kristen Stewart?s dead eyes and blank expression took the September cover of Elle Mag. All of the clothes are Chanel (she?s the face of the Paris-Dallas collection) and the photoshoot took place at some sort of elite grocery store. It?s probably going with Karl Lagerfeld?s recent ?People of Walmart? themed runway show, I guess. As for the Elle interview? ugh. You can read the excerpts here, and here are some highlights:
Stewart on letting her career evolve naturally: ?Never at any point have I sat down and plotted how I should proceed from here on. As soon as you start thinking about your career as a trajectory?like, as if you?re going to miss out on some wave or momentum?then you?re never doing anything for yourself anyway. Then you?re truly, actually, specifically working for the public. You?re turning yourself into a bag of chips.?
Stewart on not being able to please all the people, all the time: ?Now I feel like if I smiled for a paparazzi photo?not that I ever would?that?s exactly what people would be desecrating me for. They?d be like, ?now you?re going to give it up, now you?re a sellout.? like, okay. What do you want? What would you like??
Stewart on when she realized how big Twilight would be: ?The day the movie came out there was a picture of me?in the New York Post, I think. I was sitting on my front porch, smoking a pipe with my ex-boyfriend and dog. And I was like, Oh ****, well, I have to be aware of that.?
[From ELLE]
So hardcore, Lip-Biter. Never sellout! NEVER. Except when it?s for Balenciaga. And Chanel. And all of the ass-kissing she did post-Mini-Cooper to ensure that she would still have a career. While I don?t understand the ?You?re turning yourself into a bag of chips? conclusion of that one answer (??), I really, really do not understand this: ?that?s exactly what people would be desecrating me for.? I don?t think that word means what you think it means, Kristen. You are not a church, or a grave site or some holy place deserving of special treatment. I think she meant ?disrespect? or ?tear me down? when she said ?desecrating.? Plus, she?s talking about smiling in candid photos!! For the love of God, Kristen. Don?t desecrate my mind with your nonsense.

| Kristen Stewart shows off her newish haircut at LAX: still cute or not so much? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some new photos of Kristen Stewart at LAX yesterday. These are the first photos we?ve had of her since she debuted her new haircut at the Paris Fashion Week Chanel show several weeks ago. As I said back then, I like the haircut. But her hair was definitely styled better in Paris. These LAX pics? well, I?ll give her a break. She was probably coming off of a long flight and that?s why she looks so unwashed and why her hair looks sort of gross. She?s trying to turn away from the paparazzo too, which just gives us a better look at the haircut ? it?s sort of like Mick Jagger?s hair circa 1973. Shaggy, rock n? roll, but with a Totally ?90s dye job. I get that Kristen is simplifying her look, but that American Ultra movie is done so why not get rid of the Manic Panic dye job?
Anyway, I don?t have much to say about Kristen these days. It seems like she?s trying to go back to her indie roots, do smaller films and ensemble pieces. She?s going to be at TIFF in September (probably!) to promote Still Alice, that film she did with Julianne Moore and Alec Baldwin (they play her parents). I think she may have successfully rebooted her career after Mini Cooper-gate. Oh, and I still would like to know if she?s dating Alicia Cargile.
PS? Just think, Kristen totally could have starred in Fifty Shades of Grey. She was one of the inspirations, after all.

Here is Kristen Stewart looking worlds away from her Twilight persona, Isabella Swan, as she attended the Chanel fashion show in the French Capital.
She made waves with her daring, all-white ensemble: a pair of mostly see-through, high-waisted pants and a crop top, plus a few necklaces.

| Kristen Stewart shows off a new haircut, harem pants in Paris: cute or fug? | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Yay, Kristen Stewart is in Paris today for Fashion Week. Specifically, she?s in town as part of her Chanel contract, in which she?s the face of Karl Lagerfeld?s Paris-Dallas Chanel Collection. Kristen has been promoting the brand for months now, getting pap?d wearing Chanel sweatshirts and carrying Chanel bags and basically looking like a walking Chanel advertisement. But I like that she?s hustling for her contract. And I like that she?s growing up enough to play the game.
As for these photos? I?m assuming Karl Lagerfeld chose Kristen?s outfit. Let?s not pretend she had a say in what she?s wearing. Sheer white harem pants with built-in granny panties and a crop top? Very odd. But I have to say, it?s nice to see something different and softer on Kristen and she comes close to pulling it off. I like the way she?s styled too, minus the sunglasses. Her hair looks cute ? she had to dye it that terrible color for American Ultra, and she?s making the best out of a bad situation. It looks like she?s chopped off much of her hair too? Some of her old hair was probably just extensions, but she must have wanted something different after she finished filming. It?s a cute cut. It suits her too.
I like the long necklaces and the bracelets as well. The whole look is sort of 1970s Moroccan to me. Also: I cracked up when I saw that she was biting her lip in some of these photos. Classic Kristen!

| Kristen Stewart Not On Board for 'snow White and the Huntsman' Sequel?! | Added 10 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

She famously split up the marriage of her ?Snow White and the Huntsman? director Rupert Sanders and it doesn?t look like Kristen Stewart will be returning for round two.
According to The Wrap, the ?Twilight Saga: New Moon? babe isn?t expected to reprise her role and even if she does, it will only be a small cameo.
Meanwhile, Sanders is also steering clear of the project, as ?Walking Dead? creator Frank Darabont has been tapped to man the helm.
On the positive side, both Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron have signed on for the sequel, slated to hit theaters in May 2016.

| Kristen Stewart Launches Lawsuit Against Joan Rivers | Added 10 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

It?s always fun when stars go after each other, and Kristen Stewart is now suing Joan Rivers for making fun of her affair with Rupert Sanders in ?Diary of a Mad Diva,? her new book.
The 81-year-old entertainment industry veteran told the paparazzi, "I am now being sued by Kristen Stewart. She?s mentioned in the book and she doesn't like where she is mentioned. She obviously didn't read our disclaimer, which is that it's a comedy book.?
In her book, Rivers writes, ?Many stars only do one thing well, of course, the best one-trick pony is Kristen Stewart, who got a whole career by being able to juggle directors? balls.?
And now Joan ?can't wait to get (Stewart) into court because I want to get a puppet and I want her to show me on the puppet where she thinks I claimed she touched her director, so I am looking forward to it.?

| Kristen Stewart: 'I don't know how people tactfully traverse their careers' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
I tried to give Kristen Stewart the benefit of the doubt the other day when she talked about ?product-oriented? actors who? I guess, in Kristen?s mind, only do films that they believe will be huge hits. It was awkwardly worded, which is synonymous with ?a Kristen Stewart interview,? but I tried not to overthink it. My interpretation was that Kristen wants to do small, important work that is artsy and she doesn?t want to choose overwhelmingly ?commercial? projects. To which I say? Snow White and the Huntsman. Not to mention Twilight.
Anyway, Kristen has a new interview with Reuters where she returns to this sort of? lacking in self-awareness, I guess. Is it that she?s lacking self-awareness, or is it that she?s SO self-aware that it borders on the comical? Some highlighted quotes:
Why she did “Clouds of Sils Maria”: ?It happened to be the perfect project, timing-wise. Just my experience with my career, how it’s gone – you know, “Twilight” blew up – I’m extremely famous. It’s interesting for me to play an actress’ assistant who then comments on that world and how it works and how superficial it can be.?
Whether there?s more ?freedom? in European films: ?It’s not absent in the States, but it’s not prevalent to feel free within the film industry, to feel like you can say what you want to say, not with any concern about how people are going to react to it, whether you’re going to piss them off. So here, it seems like people are less afraid because again they’re doing it for themselves. It’s for the art of it. It’s not to market things. It’s just, it’s a good feeling. You know, to make a movie is so ridiculous. We’re going to go film each other pretending to be other people so other people can watch us pretending to be other people? It’s insane. But if it’s worth it and it’s saying something … it can be transcendentally important.?
Self-awareness: ?I don’t do what I do to … control perception or make people think a certain way about me. That would be traipsing all over the experience of making any film. It’s just so ass-backwards to me. I don’t know how people do that. I don’t know how people tactfully traverse their careers. I don’t know how they choose, ‘Well, this is a different side of me people have not seen and so I will present that to them now.’ It’s like, ‘Why are you doing this for other people? You should be doing it for yourself.’ And so I’ve functioned from that position since I started, and therefore I really don’t care about all that.?
[From Reuters]
She Who Lip-Bites just gave me a headache. It?s like she?s a walking computer thesaurus, unable to comprehend that even though some words are synonymous, they are not interchangeable. In other words, she acts like a kid who uses Word of the Day toilet paper. ?It’s not prevalent to feel free within the film industry???? ?It can be transcendentally important??? Anyway, same BS, different day. Kristen looks down her nose at actors who try to plan out their careers and consciously split their time between smaller passion projects and big-budget popcorn films. She thinks they are ass-backwards. She doesn?t care about them at all!!
My thing about Kristen is? I don?t mind when she plays the game. I don?t mind when she goes to fashion shows and takes modeling contracts and signs on to bigger-budget films. I don?t mind when she conveniently gets pap?d wearing Chanel clothing just days after her new Chanel modeling contract becomes public. But I do mind if she does all that and then acts like she?s ABOVE the game, that she would never play the game and that people who play the game are all unartistic a?holes. Own your sh-t, Kristen.

Here are some new photos of Kristen Stewart arriving at LAX (the pics where she?s carrying the Chanel bag, naturally because that?s why she gets paid by Karl Lagerfeld) and then out and about in Santa Monica with a friend. The friend is Alicia Cargile, who has been close to Kristen for years. A month ago, Star Mag even ran a story about how Kristen and Alicia are quietly dating nowadays, that their friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship following Kristen?s split with Sparkles. I don?t know the real story ? if they?re just friends, good for them. If they?re romantically involved, good for them.
Meanwhile, Kristen got some of the best reviews of her life with Clouds of Sils Maria, the film which debuted at Cannes and stars Kristen, Juliette Binoche and Chloe Moretz. Kristen didn?t have time to do wall-to-wall press, but she did sit down for a handful of interviews, including this decent piece with the Wall Street Journal. You can read the full piece here, and here are some highlights:
Why she signed on to Clouds of Sils Maria (where she plays an actress?s PA): ?The reason this movie was made was not to make a statement about how superficial media can be, but it was a lot of fun for me to be the one to say it. Obviously, I?ve had more experience with the media, so it makes it funnier.?
Playing a PA: ?I don?t a have a personal assistant right now, but I have had one in the past and I definitely understand the dynamic. The difference is that I never had such a co-dependent relationship.?
Kristen ?coached? Juliette Binoche: ?When we were getting out the car to walk up the red carpet, Juliette just like opened the door and started to get out. I said, ?what are you doing? A star would never do that!??
How she views her career: ?When I take on a role, I really like to think, and I do not care what people think about them afterwards. I really want the experience. I think a lot of actors?not good ones?are just product oriented, as is the business. American movies are so packaged and delivered. They think for you. Like the stories in the tabloids?they?re so easily consumable. But that said, I love big American movies?they?re my foundation, what I grew up on?and I still want to do them.?
Getting to work after Mini-Cooper-Gate: ?I didn?t make a movie for a really long time because I didn?t get offered anything that I liked. I didn?t work for two years.?
[From the Wall Street Journal]
I half-believe her. I believe that she wasn?t offered many good scripts and that?s partly why she wasn?t working following her affair with Rupert Sanders. But I also believe that Hollywood wasn?t sure what to do with her following the affair, and some people (like, say, Ben Affleck) didn?t want to work with an actress who was considered ?radioactive? in the tabloids. As for Kristen ?coaching? Binoche? I?m sure that was super-special. Binoche could eat K-Stew for breakfast.
Kristen also talks about how she wants ?to start directing? in the WSJ piece, which is good timing because she directed the music video for Sage + the Saints? ?Take Me to the South?. The lead singer looks so much like Kristen. This video has too many jumpy edits.
