Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde: in it for the long haul? I doubt it. Theyve reportedly been dating now for about a month and a half. I doubt they even make it through postproduction on Don?t Worry Darling, the film which Olivia is directing and in which Harry stars. They?re still filming in LA, and someone really wants us to know that they?re keeping things very professional on set. Sure. That kind of goes against the cutesy PR we heard a few weeks ago, about how Olivia was so clearly smitten and everyone on set knew.
Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde are keeping things professional amid their new romance. The 36-year-old actress is currently directing the Golden singer for her upcoming psychological thriller, Dont Worry Darling. A source tells ET that the two are doing just fine balancing their relationship and their professional responsibilities. According to the source, it is important to Wilde that the vibe on her set is professional, collaborative and fun.
She really creates a little community. She wasn?t joking when she said she has zero tolerance for a**holes, the source says. And because of COVID-19 restrictions, the source says the cast and crew are especially close since they?re really only seeing each other. It?s a super tight-knit group,? the source adds.
As for Wildes relationship with Styles, 26, the source says it was not a secret on set. And it also isn?t going to get in the way of doing their job.
Wilde and Styles sparked romance rumors earlier this month, after they were spotted holding hands at a wedding in Montecito, California. The source tells ET the photos of them together at the wedding were absolutely not leaked or staged for some sort of promotional reason. They were shot by a paparazzi without them knowing.
Meanwhile, news of Wilde and Jason Sudeikis split broke in November, seven years after they got engaged. Another source previously told ET that Wilde and Sudeikis, who share two children together, actually split almost a year ago. However, a source told ET a couple of weeks ago that while the pair wanted to remain close after their split, the Ted Lasso star was really hurt by Wildes new romance, with another source telling ET, Jason is beyond distraught. Of course, Jason still has feelings for [Olivia]. This is a fresh split. He?s in absolute shock. He would like to repair things with Olivia and have his family back together.

I don?t know, you guys. I think it?s pretty funny that Olivia and her publicist are working this hard. They have to pepper every story with their sugary version. Harry and Olivia are so smitten, he?s so into her, she?s so professional, she?s so good at her job, Jason is just jealous, Jason is lying because he?s feelings got hurt, Olivia and Harry are perfect! Meanwhile, I still believe that Harry is kind of trying to find the exit route, especially because of the Sudeikis stuff. Come on, this is way too much drama for Harry.

Personally, I don?t like Olivia Wilde that much, but she?s not on my permanent hate list or anything. I just find her annoying and pretentious, but sometimes she?ll do, say or wear something that I find interesting. And I?m pretty interested in her new romance with Harry Styles. I find them an odd couple, not because of their ages (she?s a decade older than him) but more because of the fact that they?re in such different places in their lives. She?s a mother of two getting out of her second long-term relationship (which was a lot like a marriage) and she?s made major moves to be taken seriously as a director, writer and producer in addition to her acting career. And Harry has been around the music industry for years, but he?s really just ?starting out? in a lot of ways. I don?t know. Maybe it will be fine.
Olivia and Harry met on the set of Don?t Worry Darling, which will be Olivia?s second feature length directorial effort. She also co-stars in it, along with Chris Pine, Florence Pugh, Gemma Chan and others. Shia Labeouf was cast in the film initially, then Olivia fired him and recast the role with Harry. Apparently, sparks flew between Olivia and Harry immediately:

What started out as a close friendship, quickly turned romantic, the source says. Everyone saw it coming. During breaks, hes hasnt been able to stay away and visited her trailer.
As they spent time together on-and off-set, their friendship quickly turned romantic, says an insider. Their chemistry was very obvious.
Wilde ? who split from fianc Jason Sudeikis, 45, in early 2020 ? brought on the former One Direction singer as the films male lead in September. He plays the husband of Florence Pughs character, a 1950s housewife who discovers a disturbing truth while living in an isolated community in California. I did a little victory dance when we heard that we officially had Harry in the film, Wilde told Vogue for its December issue.
After conservative commentator Candace Owens slammed Styles in November for wearing a dress on the magazines cover, Wilde was among many who jumped to his defense, calling Owens pathetic on Twitter.
Olivia was going on and on about how wearing a dress still makes Harry masculine, says the insider. It was again just so obvious she had fallen for him.
Despite their budding romance, the two continue to keep things very professional at work.
Olivia and Harry created this loving and warm environment, says the insider. Everyone loved working with them. She takes her work very seriously, but everyone saw it coming.

Yeah, I get that we?re supposed to think this is cute and cool, but the age gap alongside the professional power gap kind of bugs me, just as it?s bugged me when the genders are reversed and an older male director is smitten with a young actress he?s directing (see also: Darren Aronofsky and Jennifer Lawrence). Everybody has to be really fking careful. But again, they?re both adults and as long as everyone behaves professionally on the set, so be it and I?m happy for them. Olivia must be so pleased that her second film is getting so much attention already and they haven?t even wrapped.

Plus, the split had the feel of something that had been happening for months and they only bothered to confirm it after they had already split up residences and everything. What I?m saying is that Olivia has likely been single for months. And a few weeks ago, she began dating? HARRY STYLES. Yes, that Harry Styles. The angel who loves nail polish, pearls and pussybow blouses.
A hot new couple may be kicking off 2021 in style. Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles were seen holding hands at a friends wedding over the weekend, sparking dating rumors for the pair who recently worked together on the film Dont Worry Darling, which Styles starred in and Wilde directed.
They were in Montecito, California this weekend for a wedding, a source tells PEOPLE. They were affectionate around their friends, held hands and looked very happy. They have dated for a few weeks.
In photos obtained by Page Six, Wilde is seen wearing a floor-length floral gown for the wedding as she holds hands with Styles, whos in an all-black fitted suit paired with a white button-up shirt. Both actors are also seen wearing masks. Wilde, 36, and Styles, 26, were later seen photographed at his L.A. home with luggage in tow.
A rep for Wilde could not be immediately reached for comment, and a rep for Styles has not commented.
Wilde and Styles spent time together over the fall as they filmed Dont Worry Darling around Los Angeles. Wilde pulls double duty on the film, which she also co-stars in. The 1950s-set film stars Florence Pugh as a housewife who discovers a disturbing truth while living in an isolated community in California. Styles plays her characters husband.

Yeah, there?s a ten year age difference but I don?t think that matters to either of them. Harry has always had a thing for ladies who are older than him, and it?s not like he?s currently some dumb kid who doesn?t know what he?s doing. I do feel sorry for the Styles fans who wanted to see him with other people, like Louis Tomlinson or Lizzo. (Lizzo and Harry are good friends and affectionate friends, but I don?t think anything happened there.) As for Jason Sudeikis? he?ll be fine.
As for the wedding, Olivia attended as Harry?s plus-one, the wedding was for his friend Jeff Azoff. Harry wore a robe, Hugh Hefner-style, at one point.

It was interesting because, from where I sit, no one had really been checking on them this year? And it does sound like they were separated for much of the year. I?m not saying that they were trying to generate interest in their breakup, but I do think that they probably announced it when they did for a reason, and we?ll figure that out soon enough. For now, we?ll just have to settle for this somewhat interesting Us Weekly story on ?what went wrong,? which sounds like it just came from Olivia?s camp.

?They?ve been separated for months now and there really is no drama. They?re handling this like adults,? the source reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly. ?It?s all about coparenting their kids, Daisy and Otis. That?s the priority for them.?
Us confirmed on Friday, November 13, that Wilde, 36, and Sudeikis, 45, called off their engagement after nine years together. The pair, who share son Otis, 6, and daughter Daisy, 4, got engaged in 2012 after two years of dating.
?They?re both successful in their own right and have multiple projects in the works. No one expects any big money grab or custody battle,? the source continues. ?Olivia has a very promising directing and producing career and Jason has films lined up.?
According to the source, the pair?s bicoastal lifestyle also played a factor in their split.
?Of course, there were arguments and fights over career decisions and where to live. Like most couples, they had disagreements, they were bicoastal but Jason loved living in New York and Olivia, who was born in NYC, was leaning more toward Los Angeles,? the insider explains to Us. ?She was also busier than him at times, which was difficult at times. This reminds me that I used to believe that Olivia wanted to get married more than him, and he was more like ?why don?t we just live together and raise the kids together?? I still sort of believe that was their dynamic he was gun-shy about marriage, she wanted to lock it down. But I can also see how, in the past few years, they just grew apart and had normal couple issues and stuff. That being said, I still say they were a weird couple and they never really ?fit? together in the first place. This photo ^ says a lot in retrospect, right? The last time Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis appeared together at an event was the Critics Choice Awards in January. Olivia was there representing Booksmart, the film she directed. As she moved more into producing and directing, it did feel like? I don?t know, there was more space between them. That being said, I never paid too much attention to their relationship either way, because they just seemed like an odd couple from the start. And now it looks like they?re over, per a People Magazine exclusive:

The split happened at the beginning of the year, a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE. Its been amicable and they?ve transitioned into a great co-parenting routine. The children are the priority and the heart of the family?s relationship.
Wilde and Sudeikis share son Otis Alexander, 6, and daughter Daisy Josephine, 4.
The pair first started dating in November 2011 and Sudeikis proposed shortly after the holidays in 2012.

Olivia Wilde has been tapped by Sony Pictures to direct a female centric Marvel project. Most of us know Olivia as an actress who also did some Broadway work but moved into the directors chair for last years coming of age movie Booksmart. Since then she signed on to direct the psychological thriller Dont Worry Darling which started a bidding war and was eventually sold to New Line Cinema.
Wilde almost passed on this Marvel project because she became quite busy signing on to direct other films but she couldnt miss this opportunity to develop her own female superhero. It is rumored that the secret project will be based on the Spider-woman character. Below are some highlights on the report from Deadline.
The Spider-Woman character has actually been the alter ego of several characters in the Spider-Man timeline over the years including Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson and Jessica Drew, who was the first to sport the costume in the late 1970s. Since the concept is being completely revamped by Wilde, it?s unknown the direction the studio will go with her.
The project has been a high priority since the top of the year and Wilde came close to passing on it as her dance card has begun to fill up quite quickly. At the end of the day, the idea of having a chance to launch her own female superhero was too hard to pass up, and she eventually came around to fully committing to the project.
This marks the second film based around a female character in Sony?s universe of Marvel characters to land a director after S.J. Clarkson was tapped to direct a Madame Webb movie. Sony is also developing Black Cat and Silver Sable movies and is clearly making the effort to diversify the universe.
Around the industry, more and more female filmmakers are getting their shot at directing big-budget comic book movies. Nia DaCosta most recently landed the Captain Marvel 2 job at Marvel and along with Wilde and Clarkson will follow in the footsteps of Patty Jenkins, Cathy Yan and Chloe Zhao, the latter who has the upcoming The Eternals.

Like Ive been saying, 2020 is the year of the woman. With Nia DaCosta signing on to direct the Captain Marvel sequel and now Olivia, the superhero and action genres are going to be lit the next few years. I havent seen Booksmart yet but I will watch it over the weekend. In fact, I didnt even know Olivia had started directing but I am looking forward to this secret project. As a superhero and action film geek I am super stoked that these big studios are starting to sign on women to direct and produce these big budget films. It is about damn time. I feel they were missing out on half the voices in the world by not entrusting women with these opportunities.
Not only are women directing these big action films but they are now starting to be centered in them and that too is exciting. Of course I will be stalking the MCU and Sony twitter accounts for the announcement on what the project is. Olivia posted a hilarious tweet letting us know that she wont be spilling the tea. I guess we will have to wait to find out like we have to wait until next year to see Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman 84, but I am cool with that. If nothing else, Rona has taught me patience. I swear.
Also, I dont know much about Spider-Woman, but if the rumors are true it will be pretty cool to see a woman don the costume. It should be interesting to see what they do with the character and how she fits into the MCU, but for the love of puppies dont make her into a sidekick, that would be very annoying.

Booksmart ended up winning Best First Film at the Independent Spirit Awards. Olivia Wilde was a first-time feature director, and having recently seen Booksmart, I do agree that Olivia deserved some recognition for the work. She was super-pleased about it too! Fashion-wise, Olivia was like Jennifer Lopez in that she overdressed a bit in this big Fendi gown. I guess it was supposed to look boho, but was it really? Mostly, I just think it was the wrong color.

As we discussed earlier this week, the Atlanta Journal Constitution wants Clint Eastwood to apologize for using his film, Richard Jewell, to smear one of their (now deceased) reporters. Kathy Scruggs was an AJC crime reporter and she was the first journalist to report that the FBI considered Richard Jewell a suspect in the Atlanta Olympic Park bombing in 1996. Jewell was a security guard and he was the first person to see the pipe bomb, and his actions in clearing the park likely saved hundreds of lives. But the FBI suspected him of making the pipe bomb, and that?s what Clint Eastwood?s film is about. Olivia Wilde plays Kathy Scruggs, and apparently (I haven?t seen the film and I don?t plan to) the film shows her banging an FBI agent to get the info about the investigation into Jewell. There is literally no evidence that happened. There is ample evidence that Kathy Scruggs was a good reporter on the crime beat, and that she would have been exactly the kind of dogged reporter whom cops or FBI agents would leak to.
I would have been fine dumping this sexist trope entirely on Clint Eastwood (the director) and Billy Ray (the screenwriter). But Olivia Wilde repeatedly claimed that she did extensive research on Kathy Scruggs too, only Kathy?s friends and family say that Olivia never contacted them, and they?re pissed at her for playing this role. So, Olivia stepped up and she?s offered an explanation for what happened. From her Twitter:
One of the things I love about directing is the ability to control the voice and message of the film. As an actor, it?s more complicated, and I want to share my perspective on my role in the film ?Richard Jewell?. I was asked to play the supporting role of Kathy Scruggs, who was, by all accounts, bold, smart, and fearlessly undeterred by the challenge of being a female reporter in the south in the 1990s. I cannot even contemplate the amount of sexism she may have faced in the way of duty.
As a child of journalists myself, I have deep respect for the essential work of all in their field, particularly today when the media is routinely attacked and discredited, and regional papers like the AJC are disappearing on a daily basis.
Contrary to a swath of recent headlines, I do not believe that Kathy ?traded sex for tips?. Nothing in my research suggested she did so, and it was never my intention to suggest she had. That would be an appalling and misogynistic dismissal of the difficult work she did.
The perspective of the fictional dramatization of the story, as I understood it, was that Kathy, and the FBI agent who leaked false information to her, were in a pre-existing romantic relationship, not a transactional exchange of sex for information. I cannot speak for the creative decisions made by the filmmakers, as I did not have a say in how the film was ultimately crafted, but it?s important to me that I share my personal take on the matter.
My previous comments about female sexuality were lost in translation, so let me be clear: I do not believe sex-positivity and professionalism are mutually exclusive. Kathy Scruggs was a modern, independent woman whose personal life should not detract from her accomplishments. She unfortunately became a piece of the massive puzzle that was responsible for the brutal and unjust vilification of an innocent man, Richard Jewell, and that tragedy is what this film attempts to shed light on. I realize my opinions about Kathy, based on my own independent research, may differ from others involved with the film, but it was important to me to [make] my own position clear.

Basically, Olivia is fine with throwing Clint and Billy Ray under the bus that?s what ?I cannot speak for the creative decisions made by the filmmakers, as I did not have a say in how the film was ultimately crafted? means. It means that she thought she was playing a woman who was romantically involved with an FBI agent and that?s how Scruggs got the information, but that the men in charge changed it so that everything looked transactional. Or something. Congrats, Olivia, you?re still going to get blamed for smearing a dead woman.

A few weeks ago. I wrote about a Teen Vogue interview with Beanie Feldstein, star of Booksmart. This was Olivia Wildes directorial debut, which tells the story of two best friends who are about to graduate from high school and realize that they should have enjoyed themselves more and attempt to make up for lost time in a single night. If you want to see it, make sure to see it in a theater and not an airplane, as the latter could mean that youll end up seeing an edited, censored version. Olivia was alerted to this by someone who saw it on an airplane and noticed the change. Heres her Twitter exchange about that.

Here?s one to file away in your ?Do I Want Kids?? folder. Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis have two children, Daisy, who is three, and Otis, who is five. Both kids are adorable (as are all kids, IMO) and Olivia posts them on her social media but not constantly. It?s also not always the Sunshine and Roses approach some parents take publicly, like her admission the other day that her daughter had paid her an early morning call:
Between 3 and 5 AM my daughter poured ice water on my pillow and then screamed at me for not knowing the plot of the movie Abominable. Not sure when she joined a frat.
