Blake Lively was really making us wait for red carpet photos of her baby bump, and here we go. Blake attended the Golden Heart Awards (for God’s Love We Deliver) in NYC last night. She posed her bump off! Ryan Reynolds was not there? or, should I say, there are no photos of him on the red carpet. Blake wore this full-length Michael Kors gown which? I sort of like, even though it looks like confetti-covered pantyhose. She looks feminine and pretty and happy. So, good for her.
At the event, Blake told Us Weekly that her pregnancy is a dream come true: “It?s something that I?ve always wanted ever since I was a little girl. I never knew what I wanted to do for a living but I knew I wanted to have a lot of kids because I had come from a big family, so it was always important to me. So it?s just the excitement of that finally being here.” She?s never known what she wanted to do for a living? Says the actress and Preserver. And baker. She also talked about Ryan a little, saying: “He?s always good to me. That?s like a jerky thing to say because you want to be able to complain about your husband and be that person, but he takes pretty good care of me.”
As for Preserve and Antebellum-gate, one good thing that?s happened is that more people are giving Preserve a more critical once-over. What had been seen as a silly but harmless side project is now being analyzed for content, plagiarism and just plain awful writing. Good. It?s about time. My suggestion to Blake: hire some real writers and some real website designers to make Preserve user-friendly. Plus, Blake’s purple prose needs to go.

They?re one of Hollywood?s most adorable married couples and now Blake Lively and Ryan Reynoldss are on the road to parenthood.
According to Lively?s website Preserve, she?s pregnant with her first child as she shared a photo of her own baby bump taken by her brother Eric Lively.
Blake?s Preserve Celebration of Family post highlighted ?that special moment at the creation of family,? and congratulated ?all the expecting mothers out there.?
Lively told the September 2014 issue of Marie Claire magazine, ?I gotta get started [having children]. If I could spit out a litter of kids, I would.?
Back in 2013, Reynolds explained, "We'd love to have a big family. We both come from big families -- my parents did four, Blake?s did five. A lot of people say it?s crazy, but we?ll only know when we?re there, you know? We?ll walk through that fire pretty happily, I think."

Blake Lively is knocked up! YAY. Blake announced the news on Preserve, her ?artisanal? and unique site, but she couldn?t just write ?I?m pregnant, y?all.? First she wrote a poem about family and then she posted a million photos of pregnant women and the last photo was this ^^ pic that I?m using as a header photo. Blake?s bump is sizeable ? easily second trimester, right? This is the crap about family on Preserve:
Preserve at its core is about family.
Family is the single word our founder, Blake built this home on.
We have something for men, for women, for the old, but we realized, we don?t have anything for the new.
With family on our mind, we looked to the origin of it all?to the women in our lives who are right there, at that special moment; at the creation of family.
Today we celebrate them. With food to fill their tummies (as if that needs more filling), presents to soothe their tired (and swollen) soles, toys to warm their baby?s souls, projects to provoke them, and decorations to inspire creativity and merriment in all.
We had too much fun with this. Because there?s so much to share, we break up our first ever Preserve Celebration into multiple parts. In the upcoming days we will bring even more treats and fun. The entire next month will be sprinkled with highlights for women in this exciting chapter of their lives.
Congratulations to all the expecting mothers out there.
And thank you for being a part of our Preserve family.
[From Preserve]
This isn?t really shocking to me, as Blake has been talking about kids and wanting to get pregnant for a while. I was actually surprised that she didn?t get knocked up sooner, but there were rumors that she might have had some fertility issues. So, this will be Blake and Ryan?s first kid. I?m happy for them ? I think they both really wanted to be parents. Congrats!

| Blake Lively on baking: 'I?m very precious about it, it has to be perfect' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Blake Lively covers the new issue of Fashion Magazine. Blandy McBlanderson. And I?m saying that as someone who sometimes defends Blake, but it?s like she?s trying to rebrand (“rebland”) herself as this completely bland, vanilla person. Blake should let her freak flag fly! But no. Instead we have to listen to poor Blake and how she was just so creatively SPENT after Gossip Girl. The language that she uses to describe herself, her career and her emotional tumult is just so over the top though. Some highlights:
On avoiding Hollywood at first: ?It was never that I didn?t want to be an actor because I thought it was a bad industry. It was just that my whole family did it and I wanted to do something different. I was the youngest of five kids and I wanted to create my own path and my own sort of legacy.?
On a career in acting: ?It?s hard to have that sense of ease when you have a job that is so much in the hands of luck and fate.?
On how her mom?s cakes made her see the power of baking: ?She just created a whole life, a personality out of this thing. It was very much art and a celebration, and it made every holiday so special. I would be so proud when she would bring them into my class, and all of the kids in school would just freak out. She would let other kids help decorate too. And I suffer from the opposite, I?m very precious about it, it has to be perfect.?
On Age of Adaline, her first movie post-Gossip Girl: ?I really wanted some time to myself and to focus on other things that I loved, so that when I did it again I would be really re-invigorated. And it took a movie that I really couldn?t say ?no? to, you know, because there?s plenty that I would have done, but it was really important to have that time. So when I read that one, I said, ?I can?t not be in this movie, I have to do this movie.??
On her approach to multitasking: ?I don?t think I will ever do one thing. I?ve never done one thing ? I have a tendency to go all or nothing. I take so many things on, so there will never be one [occasion] when I say, ?This is it, and this is all I?m doing forever.??
[From Fashion Magazine]
?I?m very precious about it, it has to be perfect.? That shows some self-awareness too. Maybe I?ll cut her some slack on that, mostly because I?m the same way. If I?m actually cooking or baking, I just want to do it myself with no help because I can?t stand the mess of other people and if I do it, I know it will be done to my specifications. So maybe I?m ?precious? about it too. Here?s where I will through some shade: ?There?s plenty that I would have done, but it was really important to have that time?? Granted, she probably was offered various projects and she said no because she wanted to have some time with Ryan Reynolds and all of that. But she?s making it sound like she?s Meryl Streep and she was just getting script after glorious script. Come on!

| Blake Lively found a way to be twee about getting stung by a swarm of bees | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Blake Lively just turned 27 years old this week. Her birthday is August 25th, just FYI. So how did she celebrate? By getting stung many, many times by bees or wasps while doing some kind of project for Preserve, her website. Have you been on Preserve since it launched? I have not, before today. I read on another site that Blake had been stung all over her body and I was curious, so I checked out Blake?s Preserve blog post about it. Guess what? Blake is EXHAUSTING. Instead of telling a bittersweet story about getting stung in the ass by a swarm of blonde-hating bitch bees on her birthday, Blake twirls and frets and sighs and bakes and eats ice cream and OMG you are not as cute as you think you are. Sorry. You can read the full post here.
I spent the week leading up to my big day shooting content for Preserve?s coming months?Just yesterday, the final day of the shoot, I felt an electric shock of energy– was it excitement that I was about to turn another year older? Was it nerves? Why did it feel like agony? I like getting older… I think.
But this felt terrible. Does your butt quite suddenly (and painfully) deflate when you turn 27? Because mine hurt like hell ?then my neck, back, legs and forehead. And oh my hands! They were shriveling. It felt like I was being shot by dozens of tiny invisible darts. I felt like the Wicked Witch, melting, melting, burning, melting.
As it happens, I wasn?t being greeted by the onset of spontaneous aging, but rather a full-fledged bee day. Attacked. All over. Everywhere.
I don?t know enough about insects to say if they were wasps, honeybees or Mother Nature?s miniature flying tasers. What I DO know, is that just moments before we were in the midst of a gorgeous fall fashion shoot. Now, I was a Monty Python sketch; running at top speed in no particular direction, whipping my arms and hands around like I?d just discovered they were growing out of my shoulders without my previous knowledge. There was a terrible sound piercing the air too? I was later informed this sound had emanated from my very own mouth. I?d prefer to never hear it again. Along with everybody else on the East Coast.
I was shaken. I was swollen. I had to stop what I was doing to recuperate and/or shrink.
What better way to recover than throw a fake 27th birthday party for myself? I looked for the nearest vanilla cake and decorated it. Step one of therapy complete. I then found the basin that I use to make giant hot fudge sundaes in, and instead, I made a flower interpretation of a sundae (complete with spoons, two gumdrops squished together to look like a cherry and baby?s breath acting as whipped cream.) I pulled out all my favorite Preserve treats?necklaces, that in my mind, represent candy drops, candles that smell like birthday cake (dear lord it?s the best thing you?ve ever encountered), messy hot fudge, sparkling tassels with complementary lanterns and little votives that remind me of the dolls who marked so many of my earlier years.
It wasn?t until I covered the counters in coordinating candy sprinkles that I stopped to acknowledge: my butt will deflate more and more, my hands will shrivel and permanently prune, but I will never, ever grow up.
It took a swarm of bees to remind me that a b-day is nothing but a number. Each day I choose my age. Today it?s 27, going on 2. How old will you bee today?
Xxo, B
[From Preserve]
I guess I?m missing the gene that finds this kind of nonsense attractive in women (or men for that matter). This? twee-ness. This twirly, sort-of forced naivet. I just don?t have the patience for it. You?re 27 and you got attacked by a swarm of bees. It sucks and I feel sorry for you but don?t tell me you recuperated from your ordeal by decorating a cake and making a floral arrangement and wishing upon a star that you were 27-going-on-2.
PS? When I was a kid I was stung over 40 times by a swarm of wasps. I still have nightmares about it! It really does suck. But I didn?t bake a cake about it.

I wasn?t surprised to see Blake Lively on the September cover of Marie Claire, even given the fact that she literally has NO film or TV project to promote. She managed to get a Vogue cover even though she was only promoting Preserve (her shopping site). So, obviously, she got another major fashion cover. And it?s terrible. The cover is bad ? her head is at such an awkward angle ? but the interior shots are really awful. Anyway, you can read Marie Claire?s excerpt here and here are some highlights:
She isn?t surprised by her life at all: “I always knew I would do something like this.?
Random details from the interview: The interview is conducted at NYC?s Bowery Hotel, with 10 flavors of Il Laboratorio del Gelato ice cream on the coffee table. She has a white MackBook and she got a Disney sticker of Snow White to ?go? with the Apple logo. And ?Her go-to curse word is ?gosh.??
Working with Chime for Change, courtesy of her Gucci contract: ?I was so excited, because I knew [Gucci] could help me realize some of the desires I had,” says Lively. With other charities, she explains, “you can send them your donation, but it’s hard to track the progress of what you’ve given, so it’s hard to stay emotionally invested.” Also, a lot of organizations have seemed mostly interested in getting a good photo op with Lively ? which is kind of a bummer. “It brought a moment of attention to them. But I don’t want my picture taken. I want to do something.”
On her relationship with Ryan Reynolds: “We’ve never gone a week without seeing each other. There’s no major decision that I make without him. The best part is when we turn off our phones and just talk and hang out. He’s my best, best friend. What do you do with your best friend? You do nothing.”
On her past claims of wanting 30 kids of her own: “I gotta get started. If I could spit out a litter of kids, I would.”
On her new venture, Preserve, an immerse lifestyle e-commerce website: “I went straight from high school to Gossip Girl, and both were very structured, scheduled environments, so I never had freedom to explore and carve my own path. When I finished my show, I wanted to take a break from acting and try what I would have tried if I hadn’t acted, and that was this.”
On Reynolds’ favorite meal: “Honestly, all he wants to eat is hot-fudge sundaes.”
[From Marie Claire]
Blake has been using similar lines about baby-making for the past few years. She either really wants babies or she really wants people to believe that she wants babies. Which is it? I think it?s probably both. She wants to be a mom and maybe it?s slower going than she expected, but I think she also wants to check off that box ? ?Blake can?t wait to be a mom!? headlines on People Magazine, etc. As for Ryan?s desire to eat hot fudge sundaes all the time? there?s some sort of sex joke in there but I can?t work it out.

Last week, Martha Stewart lightly shaded her friend Blake Lively. Blake had been making such a big deal about her friendship with Martha, and to give Blake some credit, her friendship with and adoration of Martha Stewart seemed somewhat genuine. Martha, in turn, doesn?t hate Blake. But Martha doesn?t get why a pretty blonde WASP would give up acting to become some lifestyle maven. Well, E! News asked Blake about Martha?s comments and everything having to do with Preserve:
Lively believes she can be both an actress and a lifestyle entrepreneur.
“I want to have my own path professionally and even as she said, I’m an actress,” Lively told me earlier today. “I’m doing something totally different so now I sort of have two careers going on and it’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out. But really what it is, is I have two passions. And I think ultimately, I will always be doing both, but one is going to be paying the bills better than the other.”
Preserve is part magazine with articles, recipes and fashion spreads and part e-commerce with a Lively-curated collection of products for sale, including bow ties, sterling silver jewelry, jars of vegan hot fudge, porcelain vases, California-shaped cutting boards and more.
“It was a very natural transition for me,” Lively said. “Everything that Preserve is is everything that I grew up around in a big way. My mom is somebody who made everything by hand and anything she didn’t make by hand was a discovery and the discovery was often something that was found in a thrift store that was half broken or falling apart. Or it was something an artisan only made a few of, but we couldn’t afford so we would just go and look at it every day and one day she would just buy it and hide it from my dad.”
Lively, who lives in Connecticut (not too far from Stewart) with her hubby of almost two years Ryan Reynolds, didn’t let many people around her know that she was launching Preserve. “It’s what I know better than acting so being in this space is something I’ve done my whole life, just not professionally,” Lively explained. “So now it’s something that I get to share with more people. I’ve been sharing it with friends forever. I didn’t even tell most friends that I was doing it because they still get their own curated products and gifts from me. I’m that girl.”
And also the girl who has idolized Martha.
“Who doesn’t want to be Martha Stewart?” Lively said. “Martha Stewart has been a huge inspiration to me my entire life. She’s a huge source of inspiration for my mom. She’s how I came to know and love Martha. I always say that Martha Stewart Living is the only magazine I ever had growing up. I never had Tiger Beat or any of that stuff.”
[From E! News]
Am I the only one who got really annoyed by Blake in this piece? She?s trying so hard to be this magical special unique person offering these special unique magical items and she just gets way too carried away. And it?s hilarious that she thinks there was no build-up or press surrounding this launch. Girl, stop. You got the cover of Vogue to promote your launch. You gave interviews about it for a year. Stop with the twee act.
But the twee act continued in another way ? Blake took over the Vogue account a few days ago and she answered questions about Ryan, NYC and Beyonce. You can read some of her answers here.

| Blake Lively does Vogue's '73 Questions?: surprisingly charming or just bland' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Vogue has been doing this newish feature lately, where they basically give a guy a camera and tell him to ask ?73 Questions? (easy-peasy questions) directly to a celebrity woman. It?s like an interesting take on the ?behind the scenes? magazine features and I guess Vogue is somewhat original for the way they?re carrying it out. Sarah Jessica Parker did a memorable 73 Questions (she was the first one) and I would give SJP bonus points because she let them film inside her NYC home. Anyway, Blake is the latest subject of Vogue?s 73 Questions, probably to go along with her Vogue cover. Here you go:
Call me crazy, but I sort of like the way she comes across here. Is this how she is normally? Because she?s sexier and more interesting in action, as herself. I don?t think much of her as an actress or a model, but she?s charming as ?herself?. I could totally see her hosting some kind of cooking or lifestyle show because she?s got that sort of watchable quality.
As for her answers and activities? I like that she takes off her shoes as soon as she gets in the apartment. Her dress is sexy and boob-tastic. She really cares about icing that cupcake too. She?s a dog person, she loves desserts, she cares about family and she refers to her ?husband? (never his name) a few times. But some of her answers were BS. When asked which Sex & the City character she identifies with, she says ?mostly? the men?? No, Blake. You are Charlotte and Carrie. You are Charlotte and Carrie SO HARD.

| Blake Lively Goes Live with Preserve: Check Out Her Opening Letter! | Added 10 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

|
|
She?s a few days earlier than expected, but that's totally okay with us! We're referring to Blake Lively launching her new lifestyle website, Preserve, on Monday (July 21).
In addition to the debut, the ?Gossip Girl? beauty explained to her audience what to expect from the site in a Letter from the Editor.
?Sitting down to write this editor?s letter has been the hardest thing I?ve done yet on my Preserve journey,? Blake began.
?I?m more intimidated than I should probably admit. I?m no editor, no artisan, no expert. And certainly no arbiter of what you should buy, wear, or eat. I am hungry, though? and not just for enchiladas. I?m hungry for experience.?
Blake?s site features artisan shop experts, blog posts, style features, home dcor tips and shopping options, just to name a few!
Check out the rest of Lively?s letter below!
I?m comfortable with the knowledge that I?m not a teacher, but rather, a student. I don?t do any one thing perfectly. I do a lot of things, though. Some well, some poorly.
I?ve been fortunate enough to travel. I?ve been all over the world and all over this country. I?ve walked, listened, and gathered my way through countless incarnations of ?Main Street, USA.? There?s so much life teeming in every pocket of this country. There are people creating magic with their bare hands. Creating things that land at the amazing intersection between art and function.
I?ve found that when approached with a curious spirit, people are kind. They?re generous, they answer ? if asked. They?ll often open their doors and hearts and let you in. Because people with wisdom have stories to tell, and want them heard.
Everyone has a story to tell.
This idea is the cornerstone of Preserve.
The function of Preserve is part magazine, part e-commerce hub, part philanthropic endeavor and -above all- a place to showcase the power of imagination, ingenuity, quality, and (simply put) people.
Preserve is a creative space. An indulgent space. A space for pleasure and fun. But also a space for knowledge. A space that honors both tradition and innovation?a space that honors the future, while having a love affair with the past?
In essence, what we?re really doing at Preserve isn?t making jam, but creating a space in which we attempt to preserve elements of what makes life beautiful to us.
Most of that, though, can?t be bought or sold. We can?t bring it to you or take it away from you. What we can do is talk about it, document it, and preserve it by sharing our connection with the people and moments that hold life?s real value.
As for how we operate, we haven?t looked at Preserve as a new website, but rather as a new avenue. A sort of greatest hits of ?Main Street, USA.? While the whole world races to keep up with technology, we may tighten our laces and join the race, but our end goal is to preserve what?s already there.
A pretty lofty goal, a pretty lofty statement?but one with a group of determined hearts behind it.
As I wrap up, I have to recognize who Preserve really is now, before we?ve met you. ?Preserve? isn?t me. It?s a handful of the most dedicated, soulful, wise, patient people I?ve ever had the honor of working alongside. People who?ve filled the pages of this site with a force of passion, talent and integrity. I?m grateful for our countless late nights building a home out of pixels, light, and imagination.
We have a true team at Preserve, one that I acknowledge and thank my lucky stars for far more often than I tell them (they?ve saved my tail!). I won?t push you into severe eye roll motion by calling our team a family. However, I will say that although we may be tightly knit, there will be no one more influential to the direction of Preserve than you.
We?ve created this space to multiply our experiences. So, Preserve.us isn?t just the U.S. It?s all of us.
We?re insignificant now. Our impact is just a small imprint. But our dreams are great.
Hoping you take this trip with us.
(Or at least lie and tell others it was awesome?)
With excitement and sincerity,
Blake

| Blake Lively finally launches her 'Preserve' site: not bad or budget Goop' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Blake Lively launched her Goop-esque blog/shopping/lifestyle site Preserve yesterday. I only got a chance to look at it later in the evening, which was actually a nice was to acquaint myself with it. At the end of the day, it?s just a fancy online shop. She actually did make an effort to put items in Preserve?s online shop that are not fancy, big-name designer. They are ?artisanal? and ?hipster?. These are items you would most likely see in one or two boutiques in Martha?s Vineyard or Charleston or Key West or whatever. You can see the shop here. I?ll admit it: I like a few pieces of jewelry (especially this $55 lapis necklace) I really want this $400 map-light-art piece.
So, on the level of Goop (the worst, most elitist) to a really nice online shop, where does Preserve fall? I?d say it?s closer to the ?really nice online shop.? Some of the stuff is overpriced, but not to Goop-levels. And Blake isn?t such a label-whore either, she really did select stuff that is ?artisanal? I guess. The write-ups of the designers/artisans/artists aren?t even that eye-rolly. Plus, as she notes in another section, she?s contributing some of the profits to charity ? go here to read about it. My biggest complaint? The shop could be better organized. She needs to add a way to sort the products by jewelry, clothing, food and home accessories.
Blake also wrote an ?editor?s letter? which is the worst part of my Preserve experience. A highlighted section:
Sitting down to write this editor?s letter has been the hardest thing I’ve done yet on my Preserve journey. I?m more intimidated than I should probably admit. I?m no editor, no artisan, no expert. And certainly no arbiter of what you should buy, wear, or eat.
I am hungry, though… not just for enchiladas.
I’m hungry for experience.
I’m comfortable with the knowledge that I’m not a teacher, but rather, a student. I don’t do any one thing perfectly. I do a lot of things though. Some well, some not-so-well.
? So here at Preserve there are people, stories, essays, videos and goods which hopefully inspire your home, your style and your tongue. There’s expensive stuff. Inexpensive stuff. And everything in between. But their value, is up to you. We may romanticize it, calling it treasure. What we’re really saying is, we see worth on every level.
The function of Preserve is part magazine, part e-commerce hub, part philanthropic endeavor and above all, a place to showcase the power of imagination, ingenuity, quality, and above all, people.
? As I wrap up, I have to recognize who Preserve really is now, before we’ve met you. “Preserve” isn’t me. It’s a handful of the most dedicated, soulful, wise, patient people I’ve ever had the honor of working alongside. People who’ve filled the pages of this site with a force of passion, talent and integrity. I’m grateful for our countless late nights building a home out of pixels, light and imagination.
We have a true team at Preserve, one that I acknowledge and thank my lucky stars for more often than I tell them. Although we may be tight knit, there will be no one more influential to the direction of Preserve, than you.
We’ve created this space to multiply our experiences. So Preserve.us isn’t just the U.S. It’s all of us.
With excitement and sincerity,
Blake

I guess we were supposed to think ?enchiladas? was the laugh line? Ugh, Blake. I can?t believe we went through all of this drama for what turned out to be a rather mundane online shop.
