| Blake Lively previews her Cannes fashion in Burberry: stunning or boring? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The Cannes Film Festival officially starts tomorrow. I?m really looking forward to this year?s Cannes, mostly because? there will be a lot of American actors, celebrities and models on the carpet. I know that sounds Americentric, but I love writing about Cannes fashion, and it helps when the fashion moments come from recognizable people. We?ll have lots of fashion coverage for the new week and a half! YAY!
Anyway, these are some photos of Blake Lively arriving in Nice, France yesterday. She?s there for work. She?s got a smallish part in Woody Allen?s Caf Society, plus she?ll be walking red carpets on behalf of her L?Oreal makeup and hair contract. I have to say, I?m even enjoying Blake?s casual airport style here. She?s wearing matchy Burberry ? a white Burberry trench with black piping, with matching slacks. I think her bag is Chanel. She?s already announced her second pregnancy, and she just looks lovely. She looked really beautiful and glowy during her first pregnancy too. So, yeah, I?m really looking forward to seeing what she gets up to, fashion-wise.
Thankfully, Blake also gave us a fashion preview, via her Instagram. Serious fashionistas have already ID?d several of these frocks ? you?re looking at gowns by Armani, Versace, Vivienne Westwood, Elie Saab, Dior and Giambattista Valli. Apparently, Blake will be exclusively bejeweled by Lorraine Schwartz as well.
?Everybody Cannes Cannes ? 4 more days… #CafeSociety and @lorealmakeup here we come…

| Blake Lively in Burberry at the Met Gala: stunning or poorly styled? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?m still sort of shocked that out of all of the potential (British) models and actresses Christopher Bailey could have chosen, he ended up going with an American celebrity: Blake Lively. Don?t get me wrong, I understand that Bailey probably wanted to make a big statement and this Burberry gown is a big statement, even more so because he put it on someone known for being a Fashion Girl, like Blake. While I love this dress ? truly and completely love it ? I don?t think it has anything to do with the theme. It?s just a beautiful statement gown and it looks great on Blake. My one qualm is that I think Blake?s jewelry choices are not the best for the gown. I feel like it should have been rubies or diamonds, not coral. Also, she barely looks pregnant here, right?
Naomie Harris also got to wear Burberry. I love Naomie, but this dress is a snooze.
I didn?t expect to love Karlie Kloss?s Met Gala look, but here we are. Karlie wore Brandon Maxwell and I thought she looked STUNNING. My only disappointment was that she looked so much cooler with the coat/cape thing as she traveled to the Met Gala, and once she took it off to pose on the carpet, the look was not as special.

Now that I officially made Blake Lively part of the Hollywood Tuna MILF Club last time, I’m not sure if Blakeknows all the responsibilities and dues that comes with being part of such an exclusive club. See, here she is filming a few beach scenes for her new movie The Shallows, but for whatever reason, […]

| Blake Lively Wows at Michael Kors Collection Fall 2016 Show | Added 8 years ago | Source: Dickism |

Here is Blake Livelys brought along her lookalike mom Elaine as she hit up the Michael Kors Fall/Winter 2016 show in New York.
Blake looked femininely ethereal in a creamy lace fitted dress as she shared the spotlight with her talent manager mom, who opted for a black pantsuit and white blouse.
With its nipped waist and concealed bustier construction, the dress had a flattering hourglass effect on Lively?s trim body. And its overt va-va-voom factor was offset by the romantic floral embellishment and soft peach-color lace finish.

| Blake Lively in Michael Kors at the NYFW show: amazing & contractual? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

These photos of Blake Lively look like they?re from a professional photoshoot, right? Like, Vogue or Harper?s Bazaar did an editorial of a blonde glamazon catwalking her way down a New York street. When really, these are just run of the mill NYFW street photos. Blake was heading in to the Michael Kors show on Wednesday, and she was very, very attentive to the waiting paparazzi. She picked the right ensemble for it too, because these are the best photos of Blake in a really long time. She looks leggy and gorgeous and her outfit is perfect.
Blake gave the paps so many glamour shots that it?s actually sort of suspicious. Blake has represented Gucci and Chanel in the past, so now people are wondering if a Michael Kors campaign is coming her way. Here?s my evidence: 1) so far, the Kors show is the only one Blake has done this entire fashion week; 2) I think she?s currently contract-less, her contracts for Chanel and Gucci have run out; 3) she was even shilling for Kors on social media; 4) she?s actually never done a full-blown clothing contract before, and if the price was right, I could see her saying yes to Michael Kors. Her Gucci contract was for perfume, and her Chanel contract was for purses. So? would Blake + Michael Kors be a good fit? I actually think it would be sort of perfect. Oh, and #5: Blake chatted with the New York Times at the Kors show. Oh, she is SO getting a contract. Some highlights:
She brought her mom to the show: ?Yes, she is a fan of Michael. But I am a massive fan of hers more than anything else. It?s wonderful to do fun things with your mom whatever age you are. She used to make all of our clothes as we were growing up, and was very good at it, too. So I jumped at the chance to bring her along.?
Her agenda for the next year: ?A lot of press junkets. I have three movies coming out. ?The Shallows? is a shark attack movie, which was a hoot to shoot, although I had some seriously challenging stunts. Then one called ?All I See Is You,? which is about a woman losing her eyesight at a young age, so quite a challenging experience for a whole different set of reasons. And then lastly a Woody Allen movie.
She?s been wearing Michal Kors for years: ?I don?t have a stylist, so that forces me to pick up the phone and call designers individually and often build a relationship with them, given there is no middle man. What I think of them personally tends to shape who I choose to wear. And there is no one in the business more fun and generous and thoughtful than Michael.?
Whether she?ll see Michael Kors after the show: ?Hopefully. Then its back to the hotel to order a lot of room service. Because it?s Michael who will be paying!?
[From The NY Times]
?Because it?s Michael who will be paying!? Yep. I mean, obviously, she and Michael Kors are going to announce something in the next few days/weeks, but beyond that? it?s like Blake is flat-out admitting that she only came to the Kors show because she?s getting paid. That happens a lot, by the way. If you?re a Professional Fashion Girl, you can get paid to attend fashion shows. Some designers will even fly you in to Paris for fashion week. And I think some Fashion Girls get extra money if they?re exclusive, like Blake just going to ONE show.

| Blake Lively in Chanel at the NYFW amfAR gala: beautiful or boring? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are more photos from last night?s NYFW amfAR gala. They got a good turnout, better than last year?s gala, from what I remember. It probably helps that there just happened to be a lot of celebrities in NYC this week. Like Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively ? he?s promoting the hell out of Deadpool, and Blake is along for the ride, trying to help him shill. So they came out to this event. Blake wore Chanel and? I guess the best thing I can say about this is that it?s better than the Chanel she wore earlier this week. How stiff is that skirt?!
Karlie Kloss wore Chanel too, if you couldn?t tell by the Lagerfeld-esque gloves. I like this as a simple LBD, and the way it?s styled is very ?from runway to red carpet.? Like, literally, this is exactly what it looked like on the runway.
Emily Ratajkowski in Michael Kors. I don?t think she should wear beige. She has lovely Mediterranean coloring, why not go for something brighter?
Jourdan Dunn in Dolce & Gabbana. I absolutely love this gown on her. It would have looked cheap on someone else, but she elevates a mundane floral and makes it look fabulous.
Andreja Pejic? beautiful color on that gown, but is she wearing it back-to-front?
Padma Lakshmi in hot pink? this looks like Calvin Klein to me, but who knows? I like this on her. Sure, it?s a little bit boring, but she looks pretty and simple.

Here is Blake Lively looking toned and tanned in a yellow-orange triangle top and printed bottoms as she filmed scenes on the set of her new movie, The Shallows, in Lord Howe Island in New South Wales, Australia.
It’s unlikely that any locals got to see Blake in action, as there are only 800 permanent residents and there is no motorized transportation on the island. Tourists are limited to no more than 400 at any time. According to an eyewitness, the actress seemed confident during her first few takes. Blake stayed on set for about 90 minutes before the crew broke down the set and left the beach.

| Blake Lively is shutting down Preserve, her sad, pro-Antebellum lifestyle site | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Sad news, you guys. No more pro-Antebellum editorials from Blake Lively! Blake is shutting down her lifestyle/shopping site Preserve on October 9th. Blake teased the site for more than a year, then complained that Anna Wintour ?made? her launch the site before it was ready (to coincide with a Vogue cover). Still, Blake shilled hard for Preserve. She even claimed she was a lot better at lifestyle-siting than she was at acting (that might even be true, in which case? sad). Blake announced the death of Preserve to Vogue:
?We have an incredible team of people who do beautiful work, but we launched the site before it was ready, and it never caught up to its original mission: It?s not making a difference in people?s lives, whether superficially or in a meaningful way,? Blake Lively says, on the phone from New York. ?And that?s the whole reason I started this company, not just to fluff myself, like, ?I?m a celebrity! People will care what I have to say!? It was so never meant to be that, and that kind of became the crutch because it was already up and already running, and it?s hard to build a brand when you?re running full steam ahead?how do you catch up?? Which is why, in an attempt to do just that, all of Preserve (from objets to home decor, accessories and clothing) is currently on a very deep and very inviting sale, to prepare for its October 9th closure, so that Lively may rebuild, rebrand, and eventually reveal?on her own timeline?what her project was always meant to be. (See? Savvy.)
?It?s very exciting and it?s also incredibly scary,? says Lively of shuttering Preserve. ?I never thought I would have the bravery to actually do that, to take the site dark and to say, ?You know what? I haven?t created something that is as true and impactful as I know it can and will be. And I?m not going to continue to chase my tail and continue to put a product out there that we, as a team, are not proud of.?? While she anticipates a certain amount of backlash??Failure! Folly! We knew she couldn?t do this, too!??Lively feels ready this time around. ?I know what it?ll look like, what I?m facing publicly, that people are just going to have a heyday with this. But it?s so much worse to continue to put something out there?to ask my team to put something out there?that isn?t the best we can do. I?m going to take this hit, and the only way I can prove all the negative reactions wrong is to come back with a plan that will rock people. And I have that plan. And I?m so excited about it, and that?s what gave me the courage to do this, to say, ?You know what, I?m going to give myself one more shot at this, and I really have to do it as well as I can do it this time.? And that is the only thing that will impact people. And that?s what I?m doing. And I?m totally terrified out of my mind!? She laughs, ?I?ve asked my assistant to just play ?Shake It Off? on a loop?it feels really good to listen to it on a loop!?
[From Vogue]
There?s much more at Vogue ? Blake is already shilling her mysterious comeback project which I?m sure will just be another hipster lifestyle site, only this time with slightly fewer pro-Antebellum editorials. While I think there is something to the idea of being brave enough to publicly fail, to publicly admit that you made a bad call (or a series of bad calls), I do wonder if Blake really learned much from this experiment, considering she?s probably going to do the same thing all over again, just six months from now (or whenever).

| Woe is Blake Lively, Anna Wintour made her launch Preserve before it was ready | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
If you remember correctly, Blake Lively launched her lifestyle site, Preserve, last summer. The collective reaction went from ambivalence to? laughter, I think. There were some defenders, but I think most of us recognized it for what it was: a hipster, artisanal-lite take on Gwyneth Paltrow?s Goop. The writing on the site was widely mocked, deservedly, because in additional to shilling hipster nonsense, Blake was also writing pro-Antebellum-South essays. Anyway, Blake?s Preserve launch coincided with her August 2014 Vogue cover story, in which she talked almost exclusively about Preserve and how unique it was and how no one ever thought of shilling hipster junk on the internet. Now, in a new Time Magazine interview, Blake is coming clean about how the launch was rushed on Anna Wintour?s orders. You can read the full Time piece here. Some highlights:
Whether she?s an actress or a businesswoman: ?I don?t see an ?or? there. I see myself as a storyteller?or at least that?s what I try to do. As an actress, I try to tell stories in the most honest way possible, and hope people will connect to that emotionally. With Preserve, I?m doing the same thing: meeting chefs, meeting artisans, designers, craftsmen. I?m moved by their stories and I?m sharing them with my friends.?
Whether Preserve has a business plan: ?I hope there?s a business plan! It?s a proper company? It?s hard to make something different. I?m lucky to have friends who are successful entrepreneurs, and their companies? valuations are very impressive and they?re up against time and money. I?ve seen such generosity that I haven?t seen in the profession of acting?it?s not that actors aren?t generous, but no one has connected me with Meryl Streep to muse about what has worked onscreen and why. In the world of entrepreneurs, I?ve been amazed to be connected with other companies? CTOs and CFOs and talk about what has worked and what didn?t.?
Anticipating the negative reaction to Preserve: ?I see what happens in the world of female entrepreneurs and I see what the media does. And that they pit women against each other and there?s an ?or??should women stick to this or this? I knew we?d probably get grilled, or celebrated for being someone they?re not already picking on. It felt like a new kid coming to school: I?ll get picked on, or liked, for being from a different place. And I?ve been to 16 schools in my life, so I?ve experienced that bullying. There is constructive criticism we?ve taken to heart. And then there?s people being mean for the sake of being mean, or when you?re trying to be light and people take you literally. It?s a nasty world. You don?t see male entrepreneurs pitted against each other, destroyed, picked apart, and every word they say served up to judge.?
Anna Wintour?s demands: ?The things that keep me up are things I look at on the site and I know could be better. I knew this was supposed to be better. Time and money, time and money. What I wanted Preserve to be at launch was not what it is at all. It?s just impossible! We found ourselves at launch and we had a Vogue cover set up, so I couldn?t call Anna Wintour and say ?I need six more months??people hacked into our site a week and a half before it was meant to launch, so the site leaked. The site?s not close to what I want it to be. I hope by the time it?s what I want it to be, my standards will be raised infinitely more.?
She never wanted to be an actress: ?I never knew I wanted to be an actor. I fell into it and was lucky to have incredible opportunities that shaped my life. There were things I planned for my life that I missed out on. Going to an Ivy League school was my dream. I wanted to be an entrepreneur and carve my own path.?
[From Time Magazine]
Poor baby, Anna Wintour forced her to launch her silly lifestyle site to coincide with a Vogue cover!! #RichWhiteWomanProblems. I feel like the whole ?bullying? section of the interview was specifically about the ?Allure of Antebellum? issue, in which she attempted to force Gawker to remove their critical coverage and they in turn published her legal threats. If she says that Preserve is not where it needs to be and that they?ve experienced 9 months of growing pains? sure, I agree. But I don?t think that gives her a free pass. She made such a big deal about how this site was going to be SO different and special and we had never seen anything like it, and now that everyone has seen that it?s a pretty mundane, poorly organized, hard-to-navigate site shilling hipster nonsense, now she wants a do-over.
PS… This interview was part of Time Magazine’s larger profile on celebrity women and their lifestyle sites. Go here to see Gwyneth’s piece.
