| Blake Lively in Elie Saab at the People's Choice Awards: adorable or tacky' | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The People?s Choice Awards were held last night and this is basically all you need to know about this particular awards show: Blake Lively won Best Dramatic Actress. Ha!!! She beat Amy Adams and Meryl Streep!! Which is just amazing to me. That?s what happens when you let the people vote. Anyway, Blake decided to show off her legs last night, which is why she chose this Elie Saab number. In motion, this dress was a tad more scandalous than I was expecting. It really did look like she left her pants at home. Here?s Blake?s acceptance speech. She talked about Girl Power.
Gwen Stefani came out to support her man, Blake Shelton, who performed at the show and took home some awards for his latest album. He started singing and I? flipped back to the Australian Open. Gwen wore this Reem Acra ensemble which I don?t really understand, nor do I like it. Oh well. I will say this: she?s looks really happy. I hope she and Blake will make it, I really do.

Sofia Vergara wore Marchesa to pick up her People?s Choice Award for Favorite Comedic TV Actress. I sort of don?t hate this? It?s sort of va-va-voom in a slightly tacky way, which actually suits Sofia. I?m not saying that in a mean way! I just mean that I would never buy Sofia in a Dior gown.
Johnny Depp was high AF at the People?s Choice Awards, by the way. He is so messy. And that blonde mustache makes him look like a total skeeve.

| Blake Lively announced that she's part Cherokee in a new L?Oreal ad | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
I?ve been going back and forth on covering this, I guess because I?ve been brainwashed into believing that when all is said and done, Blake Lively is sort of daftly harmless. Yes, she celebrated the Allure of Antebellum (slavery was so quaint and magical!) and yes, she thinks she has an ?LA Face and an Oakland booty,? regardless of how awkward that sounds. So Blake has stepped in racialized awkwardness before. Is she doing it again? The thing is? I sort of get what?s happening here.
First off, Blake is one of the faces of L?Oreal. She?s currently promoting L?Oreal?s True Match foundation collection, which has 33 shades of foundation, hoping to be more representative of all women?s skin tones. The campaign features many women of color, mixed race women, black women and a handful of white women. The point is that every person is different, and every person has a different racial/ethnic background and every person should have a foundation that represents their skin color. In the midst of women saying ?I?m 100% Kenyan? and ?My background is Creole,? Blake pops up in the ad, announcing: ?I?m English, Irish, German and Cherokee.? To which many people went ?????
L?Oreal also released a separate ad just for Blake to discuss her Cherokee roots, apparently.
She says: “My family’s sort of from all over. To look back far into my heritage and see where everybody came from, you know, it’s neat! It’s neat to be in this country that has such diversity and such culture.” Previously, I?ve called Blake a Total Becky and a clueless white woman about race. So does this ?I?m part Cherokee!? announcement feel? awkward? As I said, I get the point of why she?s talking about it and I think L?Oreal is doing good work with this foundation line and with this campaign. But Blake Lively and her questionable Cherokee roots should probably not be the face of an ad campaign whose main mission is supposed to be inclusion and diversity? maybe?
The whitest thing about Blake Lively is that she says she's part Cherokee.

| Blake Lively in velvet Versace at the Golden Globes: stunning or overkill? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

We had our fingers crossed for Blake Lively to show up at the Golden Globes ? where she hasn?t been in years ? as Ryan Reynolds? date last night, and it happened! Blake is Ryan?s secret weapon when it comes to his Oscar campaign for Deadpool. Blake will show off their children, she?ll wear fabulous dresses, she?ll support him doing whatever. Blake is in it to win it! And Deadpool, sadly, did not win anything, but that doesn?t mean Ryan?s Oscar chances are in the toilet. It just means that Blake needs to hustle even more. Blake wore this black velvet Versace gown to the Golden Globes last night. I?m enjoying it? Like, I think Blake is making a conscious effort to look glam in a more mature way, because she?s a mother of two and her husband is campaigning for an Oscar. So this dress works. It?s a flattering cut, her figure looks crazy-good and she and Ryan seem to adore each other. One criticism: I think the emerald cuff bracelets are sort of overkill.
Reese Witherspoon also wore Versace. This look reminds me of several different looks all at once but the callbacks are not favorable to Reese. Do I think that this is awful? Not at all. It?s flattering and sunny (there was a lot of yellow on the carpet so Reese was #ontrend) and she?s styled well. But I?m just not feeling it, I guess. I know she could do better.
I love that Naomi Campbell came out for no real reason to present with Matt Bomer. I feel like she hand-picked Bomer too, because he was the only guy in the room who was as pretty as her. Naomi wore this Versace look which was? okay.

| Blake Lively: 'You don't need to be Victoria's Secret ready' after giving birth | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Blake Lively?s promotional tour for The Shallows isn?t really over. Various interviews are still coming out, and there?s one that?s getting a lot of attention this week. Blake sat down with an Aussie morning show called Sunrise, and the fawning journalist kept going on and on about Blake?s post-baby body in The Shallows. Instead of just shrugging off the compliments, Blake decided to make a point about how unfair it is that women are praised for losing the baby weight and not, you know, growing a human and giving birth.
Blake Lively does not care to know what you think of a woman?s body after giving birth. During an appearance on Australian morning show Sunrise, Lively, 28, tackled the issue after the interviewer complimented her bikini-ready body in her latest movie The Shallows ? filmed months after Lively welcomed her first child, daughter James, now 19 months old.
?It?s so unfair though, because it?s so celebrated,? the pregnant actress said. ?It?s like, this is what someone can look like after a baby. I think a woman?s body after having a baby is pretty amazing.?
Lively continued, explaining that new moms shouldn?t feel the pressure to immediately bounce back to their pre-baby body, because they?ve just created life.
?You don?t need to be Victoria?s Secret ready right away because you just did the most incredible miracle that life has to offer,? Lively added. ?I mean you gave birth to a human being! So I would really like to see that celebrated.?
[From People]
I don?t really have much to say here? I agree with Blake. It?s screwed up that ?losing the baby weight? is the story and the celebration and that we/society/the media can?t help but put those pressures on new mothers. That being said, a main selling point of The Shallows was ?see Blake Lively in a bikini!? And she sold the movie by talking about her crazy get-back-into-shape workouts following her first pregnancy. Blake is part of the problem! But so is everyone else.
Also, I swear to God, Blake is one of those women who look so much better/prettier while pregnant. She just glows.

| Blake Lively in Emanuel Ungaro in NY: the best look of her 'Cafe Society' tour' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Even though I think some of these straps are unnecessary, this dress might be my favorite from Blake Lively?s promotional fashion show. Blake saved the best for last! Maybe. Blake was spotted out in NYC on Friday wearing this Emanuel Ungaro dress. So much prettier than her premiere minidress, right? This should have been the premiere dress. And if Blake has been trying to start a trend during this pregnancy, it?s with under-boob cutouts on maternity clothes. I don?t really get why that?s a thing, but here we are.
Meanwhile, Blake appeared on the Tonight Show on Friday to promote Caf Society. In this clip, Blake tells Jimmy Fallon that baby James calls Jimmy ?dada,? and she has the video proof.
In this clip, Blake tells other stories about baby James. James points out when anyone ? man or woman ? has a belly and says ?baby!? James also has a little lisp so for ?stand? she says ?shtand? and for ?sit? she says ?sh-t.? Blake also made a joke: ?It should be illegal to be pregnant in New York in July. I swear, I?m going to make my water break just so I can cool down.?
And there you go. Incidentally, I read Vogue?s review of Caf Society, and I came away pretty disturbed about the film and Woody Allen in general. Vogue says that Blake and Kristen Stewart are set up as woman/girl archetypes, as in Blake is playing the womanly bombshell that Jesse Eisenberg has to ?settle? for despite the fact that he?s in love with the girlish, Lolita-esque character played by Kristen Stewart. Jesus, that?s so gross.

Blake Lively is currently the cover girl for the American edition of Marie Claire ? I covered that interview last week, that was where she was talking about her baby?s ?meaty eyelids.? Well, Blake covers the August issue of Marie Claire UK and it feels vaguely like this is just a reprint of the American editorial, but? maybe not? What can I tell you? The photos are different, the quotes are different and Marie Claire UK says they spoke to Blake. Maybe the problem is that Blake looks the same in every editorial and she sounds the same in every interview? You always get a sense of dj vu, only you?re too bored to even notice. Some highlights from this new interview:
Baby James won?t be trotted out for photo-ops: “My husband and I chose a profession and a side effect of that is your personal life is public. Our child hasn?t had the opportunity to choose whether or not she wants her personal life to be public or not. So in order to give her as much normality as possible, we want her to have a childhood like we had. So we can?t really throw her into the lion?s den that is LA, not that we really want to.?
She hasn?t been transformed by motherhood: ?When women become mothers, it?s all: ?How?s your style??, ?Do you dress differently??, ?Do you go to Mommy & Me classes?? I wanted to go to a Mommy & Me class before I was a mom. People really expect that you?re suddenly a different woman, and I think it strips a woman?s identity in a way that is kind of strange, because I?ve always been innately maternal my whole life.?
Her work-life balance: “I’m always ambitious about film-making. But I love my personal life so much?and my family so much?that it takes a lot to make me want to leave the house. Most of the things I do, I fight for. But to want to fight for something? I have to be really stimulated by it.”
[From E! News]
While I eye-rolled a lot at ?I wanted to go to a Mommy & Me class before I was a mom,? there are absolutely women like that in the world. And there?s nothing wrong with that ? some women know from a young age that they want to have children, that motherhood is their goal and they want to be young mothers and all of that. Some women ARE maternal without ever giving birth too. But the way Blake describes herself? she exhausts me. At the start of that quote, I thought she was standing up for women who still want to retain their identity separate from motherhood, but nope! Blake wants you to know that motherhood was always her identity, even before she was a mother. While she may be completely authentic about all of this, doesn?t she often come across as pandering to the mommy-mafia types?

| Blake Lively's 'sweet tooth' can be satiated with dark chocolate: ugh or fine' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

On Wednesday, Blake Lively was all ?Big Hair Don?t Care? in NYC, as she continued her promotional work for The Shallows. The curls remind me of vintage Sarah Jessica Parker, like SJP circa 1990. Blake?s black dress is Versace and I don?t care for that one. The blue dress with the big sleeves is Monse, and I don?t like that one either. In fact, I haven?t been really crazy for anything Blake has worn this week, although I do give her credit for really delivering an old-school fashion show for her promotional work.
Meanwhile, as you probably know by now, The Shallows features a performance by Blake Lively in a bikini. The film was done after she gave birth to baby James, so how did Blake get bikini-ready for the film? Thankfully, Blake is here to tell us!
Getting into shape eight months after giving birth: “I worked out with an amazing trainer Don Saladino. He kicked my butt. It was also eight months after having a baby so my body was already completely different than what it normally was. Not just aesthetically but also your muscles are different, your body, everything is just shifted and changed.”
She wouldn?t have worked out if not for the movie: “It was really crazy. But it was also nice to have that motivation because I wouldn’t have done that. I wouldn’t have gotten in that kind of shape. It was like training for a marathon, but a marathon is one day. This was six weeks straight, six-day weeks, no lunch breaks, thirteen-hour days, four-foot waves at all times. By the time I was done with the movie…I had muscles that I had never had before.”
She has a sweet tooth: “I do have a sweet tooth, but a good sweet tooth?not overly sweet, not saccharin. Like dark chocolate. I like salty and sweet.”
[From E! News]
People who are like, ?Oh, I have a sweet tooth and I indulge with a few bites of dark chocolate? just kill me. I?m not saying you?re a terrible person, but I?m saying that you shouldn?t say you have a sweet tooth if said ?sweet tooth? can be satiated with dark chocolate. Come back to me when you go hunting for the perfect chocolate chip cookie for miles! Come back to me when you would strangle someone for some peanut butter M&Ms. That being said, I have a ?savory tooth? too. Some days I need something salty (peanuts), some days I need something sweet (cookies). As for Blake?s workout? I think she has good, leggy genes and she?s young, so the baby weight came off quickly anyway. But sure, she worked hard for her bikini body too.

| Blake Lively in Carolina Herrera at 'The Shallows' premiere: cute or meh' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Blake Lively at last night?s New York premiere of The Shallows, the Blake-Meets-A-Shark movie. Or the Blake-On-A-Rock movie. Whichever! So many of Blake?s media tours play out the same way ? she sticks around Manhattan for a week and does wall-to-wall press, including trips to multiple morning shows and late-night shows, radio interviews and more, all with extravagant costume changes for the paparazzi. It?s a fashion show and a press tour all at once! And personally, I don?t think Blake?s premiere look was her best look of the week. This dress is Carolina Herrera.
Normally, I like Herrera?s designs a great deal. She?s known for very classy, sophisticated looks. And maybe I would feel differently about this if Blake was not pregnant? Because it always makes me uncomfortable to see a pregnant woman in a corset or any kind of waist-cinched dress or outfit. Mostly because it just LOOKS uncomfortable. You have a baby growing in that area. It?s fine if you don?t have a small waist.
Blake accessorized with a pair of earrings that Beyonce wore to the CFDAs several weeks back. Blake was so happy to wear something that had touched the Beysus too. Blake told E!:
“Well, she wore them to the CFDAs. Yes! We’re the same person tonight! I am Beyonc. I’m going to drop the most revolutionary album of all time. I feel like I am at least. Well c’mon if this movie could just be a drop in the bucket to what Lemonade does to my heart, than I am happy, happy, happy.?
[From E! News]
She also told E! News that she was just joking with her ?officially breeders? remark on the Today show on Monday, saying: “Anything you say people are going to sensationalize it but yeah I made a joke…I don’t know?I speak nonsense.” That?s the best thing she?s said all week!
Meanwhile, remember how Ryan Reynolds told a story earlier this year about how he fell for Blake? He said that they were friends and they went on a double date with other people, and there were sparks all of a sudden. Blake corrected Ryan?s story this week:
“[That date] went well for him. I don’t know about fireworks for me. No, yeah, we were such good friends for so long and we both got to know each other as friends so when we were both single, we were still trying to find each other’s [perfect date]. ‘Oh, who would be good for you?’ We’d sit around being like, ‘Oh jeez, do you know anyone?’ And it didn’t click for, I mean, a good year and a half. Like, ‘Oh hey, wait, hold on. We could date!”
[From Cosmo UK]
Bulls?t. When Ryan told the story, he made sure to provide a timeline, saying that this double date happened about a year after they met on Green Lantern, where it was widely believed that Blake was making a play for him, even though he was very much married to Scarlett Johansson at the time. I guess that?s what bugs me ? Blake acts like they were just two single friends the whole time. No. He was married when their ?friendship? first began. And not for nothing, but one second she was with Leonardo DiCaprio and the next minute she was with Ryan. Which is still funny to me that she did that.
