It genuinely shocked me to see how many celebrities interpreted ?The Garden of Time? to mean ?metallics, icy, sand/beige, silver and white.? I think most people were expecting florals, colorful looks and interesting vintage. That?s not what we got. Jennifer Lopez, one of the Met Gala co-chairs, kind of got it wrong. That being said, this is one of her best red carpet looks in a while. J.Lo went with a custom Schiaparelli Couture and this is very sexy, flattering, all of it. I wish her makeup had been different, but overall, I really liked this.
Chris Hemsworth was another co-chair who did not really go for the theme. Chris and Elsa Pataky both wore Tom Ford, and Elsa wore a crown. Just? boring, really. The more I look at Chris?s look, the more Miami Vice it seems.
Phoebe Dynevor went for a woodland fairy vibe in this Victoria Beckham. I thought she looked cute, honestly. She wasn?t shooting for the moon, she just wanted to look pretty and she wanted something sort of comfortable.

Oh, J.Lo. All she wanted was to spread joy to the world with her love of LOVE in her triple project extravaganza: This Is Me? Now the album, the musical film, and the making of documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told. Well, spread joy and make back the $20 million she personally funded. And what have we given her in return? A fairly ?meh? reaction, along with the lowest Billboard 200 debut of her career (38). But hey, we?re talking about scrappy Jennifer Lopez here. So she moved full steam ahead into announcing her tour? only to cancel several city stops (which haven?t been rescheduled) after a month of lackluster ticket sales. Now ?sources? have spoken to Us Weekly to say that yeah, of course Jen is disappointed, but really she doesn?t care what other people think.
?Jennifer?s very focused on her latest project and doesn?t want bad press to get in her head,? the insider says, referring to Lopez?s recent rough patch involving her This Is Me? Now Tour and record of the same name.
The source explains that Lopez, 54, has been through ?plenty of problems like this before and has gotten over them,? adding, ?She moves on when things like this happen.?
Last month, Lopez raised eyebrows when she canceled several shows for her upcoming This Is Me? Now Tour after weak ticket sales. The stops included Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa and New Orleans and were supposed to take place between August 22-30.
The musician didn?t give any explanation at the time, and according to Ticketmaster dates in the southern part of the U.S. were not rescheduled.
Days later, Lopez posted an updated tour schedule with a revised lineup of dates. The shows will begin in June in Orlando and conclude in August with two New York City performances. None of the canceled shows are listed on the schedule.
Lopez?s This Is Me? Now album dropped in February and didn?t live up to the singer?s standards when it came to the charts. The record debuted at No. 38 on the Billboard 200, which is the lowest any of Lopez?s albums have ranked. (This Is Me? Now is the follow-up to Lopez?s 2002 LP, This Is Me? Then. The new record is her ninth studio album.)
While a second source tells Us that Lopez is ?disappointed? over the underwhelming response to her tour and album, a third insider says she?s not letting it derail her next ventures.
?Jennifer is extremely proud of all the hard work she puts into her projects, and Ben [Affleck] has been a huge support through it all,? the third source shares.
Lopez and Affleck, 51, are currently house hunting for a fresh New York City pad, sources tell Us. Plus, Lopez has decided to focus on her next movie, Kiss of the Spider Women, which she?s already filming in New Jersey.
?She really doesn?t care what others think,? the third insider says of Lopez?s reaction to her recent criticism, adding that Affleck, whom she wed in 2022, has been keeping ?Jen grounded? through all the highs and lows.
Lopez, meanwhile, is already on to the next big thing. ?She?s looking for a fresh start,? the first source tells Us.

In J.Lo?s defense regarding poor ticket sales: what Machiavellian tour planner scheduled five concerts over eight days across the American South in AUGUST?? I love New Orleans, but I still wouldn?t be caught dead there in the summer. Or actually I would ? because the humidity had killed me! But humidity + dancing in the audience? I?d rather watch Gigli. As for these sources, I don?t know. Is professing that ?she really doesn?t care what others think? the most effective strategy? Personally I would?ve advised staying quiet and out of sight (see what I did there!) in New Jersey working on Kiss of the Spider Woman (she?s playing the role originated by the late great Chita Rivera, those are some big jazz shoes to fill). And then BAM! Emerge on May 6 to make a stunning entrance as Met Gala co-chair. But yet again, no one consulted me. At least one concern seems to have been lifted for Lopez: she just sold her Manhattan penthouse, last listed at $25 million. This Is Me? Recouped!

I enjoy Jennifer Lopez?s dogged, determined spirit. Plus I?m a gal who loves excess, so I admire the over-the-topness she was going for with releasing This Is Me? Now the album, This Is Me? Now: A Love Story the musical film, and The Greatest Love Story Never Told documentary. Only the album hasn?t done that well in the charts or sales, and as we all now know, Jennifer personally funded the $20 million it cost to make these projects. But J.Lo also has a This Is Me? Now Tour later this year, where she can deliver a great live show. Except now, one month on from announcing the tour, several dates have been canceled without much of an explanation
Some Jennifer Lopez fans will have to wait a little longer to be introduced to the woman J.Lo is now.
According to a message on Ticketmaster?s website, the pop star and actress has canceled concert dates on her upcoming This Is Me? Now tour dates, including planned stops in Nashville, Tenn., Raleigh, N.C., Atlanta, Ga., Tampa, Fla., and New Orleans, La.
The canceled dates were all planned to take place across a consecutive eight-day stretch from Aug. 22-30. EW has learned that a logistical issue through the promoter forced the last several dates to be canceled, but that there?s potential to work something out for the affected cities in the future.
EW has reached out to representatives for Lopez and tour company Live Nation for comment on the cancellation, as Ticketmaster?s note indicates only that, ?Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.?
The cancellations follow the high-profile release of Lopez?s accompanying cameo-filled, self-funded streaming movie project and its parent album This Is Me? Now, a sequel to her 2002 album This Is Me? Then that, like its predecessor, chronicles Lopez?s love life ? particularly her marriage to actor Ben Affleck.
While the streaming film (and a subsequent documentary about its creation) made headlines and courted viewer eyeballs according to Amazon streaming lists, This Is Me? Now the album marked one of Lopez?s least successful outings to date. It debuted and peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and fell off the ranking entirely the following week, though it did reach No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart.

On the one hand I?m really impressed with Jennifer sticking to her guns for the trifecta projects. It takes equal parts confidence, delusion, and chutzpah to say YES! when absolutely everyone else in your life advises NO! The thing is, though, you kind of have to be right in order to pull off this maneuver and, well? yeah. By the time Jane Fonda weighed in with her doubts, that?s at least where I would?ve taken a pause. As for these cancellations, it could be something or it could be nothing. I think it?s too early to tell. But it certainly gives the vibes of an inauspicious start. I had a dorky idea, though: if AARP can sponsor the latest Rolling Stones tour, do you think Ben Affleck is on the phone with Dunkin? to broker a deal? This Is Me? Caffeinated!

In 2022, Jennifer Lopez: Halftime came out. It?s worth a watch J.Lo is very raw in the documentary, and there are some genuinely intimate moments caught on camera as she?s promoting Hustlers and preparing to perform at the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime show. She?s upset that Hustlers didn?t get any awards-season love, but she tried to just eat the pain and keep moving, and there?s a really sweet moment where she?s rehearsing for the Halftime show and Emme comes in and convinces Jennifer to check out the kids? dance class next door (and that moment inspired an incredible visual in the halftime show).
I bring up Halftime because it?s one of my favorite celeb-documentaries in recent years, and I?m genuinely looking forward to watching her new doc, The Greatest Love Story Never Told. It?s supposed to be a companion piece to her new album (This Is Me? Now) and her musical film (This Is Me? Now: A Love Story). The musical was hilariously bad to me but others feel differently and so be it. But I will devour this doc, which comes out today. Jennifer let cameras into the home she shares with Ben Affleck and their kids, and cameras follow her around as she?s making the album and the musical film. It should be chaotic and TMI. Speaking of, here?s a little preview of coming attractions:
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck?s past relationship strife is water under the bridge. In her new Amazon Prime documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, the Waiting for Tonight singer, 54, opens up about the ways in which she and the Air star, 51, have found harmony together after pressing pause on their relationship for nearly 20 years.
At one point, Affleck asks Lopez if she?s forgiven him, or is angry at him.
?I think I was angry at you for a long time,? she tells him in the doc. ?But that heartbreak set both of us on a course to figuring ourselves out to being better people. I think I?ve forgiven you all the way. I think I need to forgive myself [for] some things.?
After meeting on the set of their movie Gigli in 2002, the pair were engaged later that year, and were set to be married in September 2003. But days before, they postponed the wedding, citing ?excessive media attention.? After briefly splitting in the wake of the canceled nuptials, they officially called it quits in January 2004.
In the documentary, director Dave Meyers ? who helmed This Is Me?Now: A Love Story ? says that when Lopez and Affleck broke up, it was ?catastrophic? ? and the On the Floor artist explains that losing him was hard because he wasn?t just the love of her life, but her best friend.

In that sliding-doors situation of Ben not sabotaging the engagement and going through with the 2003 wedding? it would have been a completely different kind of heartbreak for both of them. They wouldn?t have survived as a couple for very long, and Ben would have had to scratch the sabotage itch in many other ways. As Jennifer Garner knows. There was always something to be said for coming back together in their late 40s/early 50s, at a point in their lives where the biggest self-sabotages are behind them. Hopefully. I guess I?m saying that I understand why J.Lo was mad at him for a while and why she?s not mad at him now. They both had to figure out a lot of their sh-t separately. And I?m still not convinced that they?ve figured everything out, but whatever. God bless. I?ll watch it.

Over the weekend, I watched Jennifer Lopez?s musical ?film,? This Is Me? Now: A Love Story. She self-financed the hour-long movie for $20 million and she really did not need to do any of that. Like, it should have been just a series of music videos released on her YouTube page. She could have even turned it into a few ?short films? like Taylor Swift did with ?All Too Well.? The problem is that? the music wasn?t actually very good. You could argue that the ?story? of the film was kind of camp and hilariously stupid, but the whole point of the film was that it was supposed to be a companion piece to this new album and the album is?not good. The music was so bad, you guys. Even then, I would consider J.Lo to be a great dancer who can ?perform? her music well, but none of the choreography was working either. All of this is being reflected in the numbers:
Jennifer Lopez has made a big deal about investing her own money in her new project. JLo says she put $20 million into ?This is Me?Now,? the title of her new album, and the video that goes with it on Amazon Prime.
The project unfurled on Thursday night. There are no numbers yet, but there?s some indication of a soft launch. The album went to number 1 upon release, but now it?s number 4 on iTunes. What goes down on pop charts doesn?t usually come back up.
The album has also not birthed any hot tracks. The lead single, ?Can?t Get Enough,? is at number 76. There are no other tracks from the album on the top 100. A good indicator of an album?s strength is it immediately dispersing tracks throughout the top 100. It seems like the fans could indeed get enough.
As for the video, ?The Greatest Love Story Never Told? doesn?t hit Amazon Prime until February 27th ? next Sunday. By that time, the album and the single may not be in a position to help it.

I?m actually going to watch the documentary because I want to see how cringe it is and how much Ben Affleck appears in it. I?m also interested in seeing how thoroughly J.Lo documented the fact that everyone in her life told her to just skip the musical film. I kind of think she should have skipped the album too, but whatever. Again, I love Jennifer Lopez and I?m still really sad and outraged that she didn?t win an Oscar for Hustlers. She has every right to do whatever she wants, but oh my god, was this whole three-part album/film/documentary thing a huge miscalculation. Still, I think it was like an itch she had to scratch she wasn?t going to let it go until she figured out a way to do it.

As many know, I have been a longtime supporter, promoter and enjoyer of all things Bennifer Redux. I rooted for them to get back together and I was beyond pleased when it all came together in 2021. In J.Lo?s mind, Ben Affleck was the one who got away. In Ben?s mind, he had a lot of regrets about how he cracked under the bright hot spotlight. They came back together when they were older and wiser. They seemed committed to not making the same mistakes as the first time around. They gave less of a fk about what people said about them. The culture changed too what was widely mocked in 2003 is celebrated in 2024. So, that?s where I was a longtime Bennifer Defender. I believed in them and I hoped that Ben wouldn?t fk it up. Guess what? Jennifer is the one fking it up.
These are photos from last night?s premiere of This Is Me? Now: A Love Story. That is the ?musical film? Jennifer produced alongside her new album of the same name. In her Variety cover story this week, Jennifer makes it clear that no one believed in this musical film, to the point where she had to self-finance to the tune of $20 million. Not only that, many of J.Lo?s longtime friends and allies were like ?girl, please don?t do this, this is absolutely bonkers and way too much.? Even Khloe Kardashian refused to take part in the musical. Ben appears in the musical, and the whole thing is about how it took her nearly 20 years to get back to him. Not only that, she did a documentary about their love!!
All of which to say, at the premiere, Ben seemed to be recreating some of the 2002-03 photos where he appeared trapped and looking for the exit ramp. Jennifer wore Zuhair Murad I don?t like this, but whatever, it?s not offensive. I really have a pit in my stomach about everything else though. I mean, maybe the reaction will be ?this is so camp, we love it.? But good lord, I wish J.Lo could just BE happily married and not have to make a musical film and a documentary about her fourth marriage.

The Friday before Ayo Edebiri hosted Saturday Night Live, with Jennifer Lopez as musical guest, TMZ unearthed a 2020 podcast interview from Ayo. Ayo appeared on the Scam Goddess pod and named Jennifer?s singing career as one of her favorite ?scams.? When I covered the issue, I thought that Ayo likely spoke to J.Lo directly at SNL. Jennifer confirms that?s exactly what happened in a bonkers new Variety cover story. Jen spoke to Variety about her three new projects: the album This Is Me? Now; the musical film This Is Me? Now: A Love Story; and a documentary called The Greatest Love Story Never Told. In case you didn?t realize it, J.Lo has well and truly lost the plot. We were so worried that Ben Affleck was going to fk up this marriage, but it?s Jennifer. She?s the one going way overboard in an attempt to celebrate her love for her fourth husband. Even Jane Fonda tried to talk her out of it, as did J.Lo?s longtime producing partner. Jennifer even put $20 million of her own money into financing these disasters. Some highlights from Variety:
Bennifer 1.0: ?Our relationship crumbled under the weight of the pressure. We lost a sense of ourselves, and we needed to separate because we didn?t know how to survive it. I had to figure myself out, and he had to figure himself out.? The first time Lopez was in love with Affleck, the crush of cameras took him away from her, leading her into multiple baffling relationships. This time, Lopez is turning the tables and seems intent on sharing every shred of their love while Affleck grudgingly follows along. In the documentary, Affleck says, ?Things that are private I always felt are sacred and special because, in part, they?re private.? He then delivers an understatement: ?So this was something of an adjustment for me.?
The musical film features a Zodiac Love Council: ?Everybody thought I was crazy,? she says with a loud laugh. ?And by the way, I thought I was crazy.? Joining Jane Fonda and Trevor Noah in a partly animated musical journey through many of the songs on ?This Is Me ? Now? are Post Malone, Sofia Vergara, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Keke Palmer and a few other famous randos. They?re all on that Zodiac love council examining Lopez?s romantic foibles. There is a special appearance by guru to the stars Sadhguru, which, according to the documentary, added $200,000 to the film?s budget. Affleck plays a wizened TV commentator.
Even Khloe Kardashian wanted no part of this disaster: Khlo Kardashian was among many Hollywood types who declined to appear in the film despite Lopez?s requests. The irony that an icon from the most photographed family didn?t want to appear in her film was not lost on Lopez, who looks downcast in the documentary. ?People are scared to put themselves out there,? she says on camera. ?I get it. It took me a long time. I?m scared. But I don?t act like I?m scared ? that?s the secret to my whole fking career.?
She needs to do all of this to start the next chapter?? ?I?ve been on this journey, and I?ve been trying to figure it out,? she says about her chronic quest for enduring love. ?Now I feel like because Ben and I have rediscovered each other ? and now that we?re married ? I have something to offer. This is the defining piece of work that?s going to close that chapter so I can move on to the next part of my life.?

And we never thought that people would take offense or be angry at us for kind of living out loud and making a cool video. We were so naive?.I don?t regret it. Even though it wound up turning out ugly for us in the media, it was very defining for me in my musical trajectory. Some very beautiful, iconic images came out of that video. On Ayo Edebiri?s scam comments: ?She was mortified and very sweet,? says Lopez about talking to Edebiri backstage afterward. ?She came to my dressing room and apologized with tears in her eyes, saying how terrible it was that she had said those things. She felt really badly and loved my performance because we had just done my soundcheck and she actually got to hear me perform. She was just like, ?I?m so fking sorry, it was so awful of me.?? The Ayo story I mean, Jennifer was really making sure that everyone knows that Ayo was tearful and apologetic, which is a big choice. But I was on the side of ?Ayo should privately apologize? anyway regardless of your thoughts about J.Lo?s music career, it was a regrettable move for Ayo to trash someone famous, someone she might meet and work with some day. As Tina Fey said to Bowen Yang, ?Learn from my mistakes, learn from Ayo. Podcasts are forever. Authenticity is dangerous and expensive.? Talk about celebrities like they?re your future coworkers. Ayo learned that lesson.
As for Jennifer?s whole three-project mess these days? as Variety makes abundantly clear, absolutely no one in Jennifer?s life wanted any part of this. I think she could have gotten away with an album, for sure, and maybe spent some money making some fun music videos. But the musical film PLUS a documentary in which she?s dragging Ben around on camera? Come on. Jane Fonda was right this is way too much.

For more than a year, Jennifer Lopez has been teasing her next big project, something called This Is Me? Now. This whole time, I thought it would be a studio album, with maybe a cute personal documentary attached, something which would showcase her life with Ben Affleck. Boy, was I wrong. Now, there is a studio album. And attached to that album is a FILM. Like, with some kind of plot, and acting, and characters and dialogue. At first, I was like ?is this J.Lo?s version of Lemonade?? But here?s the thing Lemonade was not a ?movie,? it was mostly a collection of music videos and cool imagery adjacent to Beyonce?s album. This Is Me?Now is something else entirely. The trailer came out yesterday and people are gagged.
?She thinks I?m her employee!? ?Being with you feels like home? but I left home for a reason.? WHAT? The cast list is bonkers too? Derek Hough AND Fat Joe? Ben Affleck AND Keke Palmer? Neil DeGrasse Tyson AND Kim Petras? The one nice thing I?ll say is that I?m looking forward to the dancing. Jennifer is a great dancer, and I?m absolutely positive that many of these ?scenes? were setups for dance breaks. Anyway, it comes out on Prime on February 16th. Mark your calendars.

Bennifer has been relatively quiet for months. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have been seen a few times walking arm in arm down a street, or going to dinner, or having an argument in a car but it was an incredibly quiet summer for them, and I imagine it will be a quiet fall. I?m fine with that I wish them well and I believe in them. I believe that it?s different now, that Ben has had enough of scratching his self-destructive itch, that he?s really making an effort to ensure that this marriage works. This is one of those rare situations where it feels like ?no news is good news.? Now, Page Six and other outlets are desperately trying to convince people that there?s drama behind the scenes, especially with their blended family. ?Sources? shut it down:
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are crushing co-parenting ? and they have Jennifer Lopez to thank for it. The singer has helped her husband and his ex-wife get to a ?better place,? a source told the Daily Mail Thursday.
?Ben is healthy,? the source continued. ?The drama of the past and the emotions of divorce are long gone and they are all making it work.?
In fact, Lopez herself is ?friendly? with Garner and all of their children ?love each other.?
?It is really a very happy co-parenting situation,? the source furthered.
The Grammy winner is the mother of twins Emme and Maximilian, 15, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Meanwhile, Affleck and Garner share Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 11.
?Everything is really good right now and should be the same in the near and distant future,? the source gushed, going on to note that the actor, 51, and Lopez, 54, have also had ?many talks? about her co-parenting relationship with Marc Anthony.
?They all have been able to figure it out,? the outlet reported. ?It is actually inspiring and nice to see.?

I actually believe this? I don?t think Garner wants him back and I think she?s happy to see him with J.Lo. Or rather, Garner got there eventually, and I would also assume that J.Lo made an effort as well. I find the blended family aspect fascinating it?s clear that Emme and Seraphina were instantly tight, just as it was clear that Ben felt comfortable with J.Lo?s twins right away. As for Marc Anthony? from what?s I?ve heard, he?s barely involved with those kids, but whatever. Anyway, this is just my update I think Ben & J.Lo are fine, despite the efforts to make them sound like their marriage is already full of drama.

Here are some photos of Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez and Violet Affleck on the Fourth of July. There?s always at least one major ?industry party? on Independence Day, and this year Michael Rubin hosted it. The dress code was ?all white,? which? eh. It feels very early-aughts, doing an all-white dress code for a summer party. I remember those Hamptons parties with all-white dress codes. Still, Bennifer was game and so was Violet.
Violet is fully her mother?s daughter I always do a double-take whenever I see photos of her, because it inevitably looks like Jennifer Garner and J.Lo are hanging out. I wonder if J.Lo does the same double-take. Violet not only paired her white dress with pigtails, she also wore a mask at the party. She?s 17 years old and she?s still like ?actually, I don?t want to catch anything.? The only other Hollywood type I?ve seen wearing masks still, to this day, is Leo DiCaprio (and I mostly think that?s about the paparazzi).
Speaking of Leo, Ben and J.Lo are both Leos, with Jennifer?s birthday coming up on July 24th and Ben?s birthday coming up on August 15. Will they do another birthday trip in Europe? Will they get a yacht? I hope so. There are also persistent rumors that Ben and Jen will do a vow renewal this summer for their one-year anniversary. I hope not I hope they just go on a big birthday/anniversary trip.
