Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have the never-ending bromance. Don?t even try to say that those boys are gay either, because that is so 1998. More than a decade after their Oscar win for best screenplay, Ben and Matt?s friendship is still really solid. They?ve weathered high-profile relationships, The Jason Bourne trilogy, rehab, J-Lo. And now both men are happily married with two daughters each (and Matt is stepfather to a third girl).
Ben is starting to gear up for the promotional tour of State of Play. The film looks really, really good, but Affleck is barely in the trailer, so I?ve got to wonder how much the studio is going to put him front and center to sell this movie. Perhaps it?s part of Ben?s multi-year public relations strategy to ?rebrand? himself from stripper-loving, J-Lo engagin? film poison to happy, well-adjusted, loving family man, actor-director and humanitarian. It seems to be working, so kudos to his publicist.
Affleck sat down with People to talk friendship, marriage and whether he and Matt will actually work together again:
They were close childhood friends, collaborated on the script for 1997’s Good Will Hunting and then won Oscars for it. And even after Hollywood success and “ballooning” families, Ben Affleck says his friendship with Matt Damon has not only gotten stronger, with shared vacations, but they’re planning another movie together.
“It’s cool,” Affleck, 36, told PEOPLE of his and Damon’s enduring bond, which includes mixing and mingling with their wives and kids. Affleck has two daughters with wife Jennifer Garner while Damon, also 36, has two daughters with wife Luciana Barroso.
“We went on vacation last summer,” says Affleck, who plays a congressman opposite Russell Crowe in the new thriller State of Play. “It’s nice. It always has been. He’s got his family ballooning, and we’re doing okay ? it’s nice.”
With the two having never veered from their shared Boston upbringing, Affleck observes, “I think it would be the same for anybody. You’re friends when you are young, you have a certain life. Then in your 20s you have a different life. In your 30s you get married and have families.”
Given such a perspective, Affleck adds, “It’s a different kind of satisfaction being around your friends, the friends you grew up with. They have kids, have barbecues and that kind of deal. That is really satisfying, too. It’s one of the nice things about having friends for a long time.”
Equally nice is that, with recent arrival Seraphina Rose joining daughter Violet, 3, at home, Affleck says, “I am very lucky. I feel blessed to look around and see that I’ve got a healthy family and a job. Especially nowadays, you really feel very good.”
When it comes to being a dad, he’s mastered many of the duties ? including how to mash bananas properly ? that his wife was once worried would require supervision.
“I’m in a pretty good zone right now,” says PEOPLE’s 2002 Sexiest Man Alive. “I say that, and I’ll go home to find everything exploded, [but] so far, so good.”
All in all, he says, “I really am happy with what I’m doing now. In fact, I’ve never been at a place where I’ve felt better about going to work every day. I’m more engaged and very, very happy ? I’ve really gotten comfortable with the things that are important to me.”
“Matt is always pretty busy but claiming that he’s going to try and slow it down a little bit,” says his buddy. “He doesn’t mind taking a year to wait. I would love to, it’s great, and we’re both busy. Matt lives in Miami, so it’s hard to get a chance to see him. If we work together it’s an excuse to hang out.”

It?s nice that Ben and Matt are still friends, and I like how the relationship has evolved over the years. Part of the reason I think the gay rumor got some traction was because they were always together back in the day. As they?ve grown up, they?re more like college buddies who plan family vacations together once a year.
I totally forgot that People named Ben Affleck as the Sexiest Man Alive in 2002. What were they thinking? Ah, back when Affleck when hot stuff. The halcyon days of 2002. Brings a tear to my eye.

Avid poker player Ben Affleck helped make a dying man’s wish come true according to Norm Clarke! A man who beat the odds and turned 21 even though he was told he would not make it to 18 had one wish and Ben made it happen.
Affleck and the young man, who turned 21 Friday, were among a group of 15 who dined at N9NE Steakhouse at the Palms before moving to the Playboy Club, where they gambled and sat at a VIP table on the edge of the dance floor.
That was really nice of Ben to do that and not do it for publicity!

Ben Affleck wants us to keep a “glimmer of hope” for the Congo.The actor, 36, continues his ardent activism with an essay for the current issue of Time about his personal experiences and the ongoing war and displacement in eastern Congo.Affleck has been traveling to the African country since 2007 to learn firsthand about the devastation and has also made a documentary about the war-torn country’s urgent crisis.In the essay, “A Glimmer of Hope in Africa,” Affleck, citing the decades of instability and violence caused by rebel fighters, extremists, and outlaw militia, writes: “In the past 10 years alone, millions have died here, and more die each day as a result of the conflict.”Most die not from war wounds but from starvation or disease … one in five children in Congo will die before reaching the age of 5.”What he hopes to prevent, Affleck writes, is a feeling of hopelessness or being overwhelmed by the country’s problems.“The nation most in need of investment gets the least by the cruel logic that it is the most broken,” he writes. “It is a self-fulfilling prophecy that ultimately fosters indifference in the guise of wisdom.”

After welcoming their second baby girl, Seraphina Rose, in January, Ben Affleck is trying to convince his wife Jennifer Garner to get pregnant again - this time with a boy. The couple welcomed their first child, Violet, in 2005. Although he’s thrilled with his two lovely girls, Affleck is said to be desperate for a son. This is all according to a ?source? close to Affleck, willing to talk to OK! Magazine. Apparently, it all involves some elaborate scheme involving baby-sized Red Sox gear.
Jen Garner has told Ben and her friends that she?s ?done?. I guess she feels that she provided him with the royal heir and a spare, both girls, and her work is over. But Jen is a big softie when it comes to her husband?s wishes - so perhaps Victor Garbor will be announcing another pregnancy sometime soon.
Daddy Ben Affleck is thrilled that his new baby girl, Seraphina Rose, born Jan. 6, has joined daughter Violet, 3, in his growing brood. But a friend of the He’s Just Not That Into You star says he’s already lobbying wife Jennifer Garner to get pregnant again–and this time, with a boy!
“Ben’s happy to keep going until he gets his boy,” says a friend, who notes the star’s fanatical love for the Boston Red Sox. “He has visions of dressing a little guy in Red Sox gear, tossing a baseball around and cheering in the stands together.”
Jen, however, has other plans! “She’s told friends that she’s done,” a friend of the couple, both 36, tells OK!. “She jokes with Ben, ‘If you want more babies, you’ll have to find a way to produce them yourself!’”
But Ben is convinced he’ll change Jen’s mind–eventually. And he may be right!
“Jen is a big softie when it comes to giving Ben what he wants,” says the friend. And if Ben remains the lone male in the Affleck household? “He’ll have those little girls dressed head-to-toe in Red Sox gear!”

Yeah, a plea for somebody to gear up in Red Sox stuff is not exactly a declaration of ?please have another one of my babies?. And what?s so wrong about putting Violet and Seraphina in Red Sox gear? True, it?s a bit gaudy, but they won?t grow rebellious for years. So will Jen Garner give in and have another baby? And what if it?s another girl? Will Ben be ?disappointed?? He?s a douche if he doesn?t appreciate what he has - two healthy girls and a loving wife.

It has been quite an adjustment adding another baby to the family, and last night Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, and Violet took a baby break, leaving newborn Seraphina Rose at home when they went out to dinner.
The “Changing Lanes” stud and his “Catch and Release” gal enjoyed making their three-year-old the center of attention while they dined at Blue Plate in Santa Monica, California.

I?ve always thought it was a little weird that Alias co-stars Jennifer Garner and Victor Garber are so close. He seems to be something of a mentor/surrogate father/best friend to Garner, he one of the few friends that The Garner-Affleck?s invited to their wedding, and he often gives quotes to the press on their behalf. So, of course, Garber chimed in about the newest addition to the family Affleck, little Seraphina Rose Elizabeth. Garber also announced to OK! that he?s going to meet the baby very soon - he?s now like a surrogate grandfather!
Jennifer Garner?s former Alias co-star and close friend Victor Garber will finally be seeing the actress’ new baby today!
The Juno star and husband Ben Affleck, who just had baby daughter Seraphina Rose on Jan. 6, have invited Victor to see the newborn, he said at the NBC party on Thursday night.
?I?m going to see the baby tomorrow,? Victor, who officiated the couple’s 2005 wedding in the Caribbean, revealed to OK! ?I?m very excited. I can?t wait to hold that baby.?
Victor cherishes his friendship with Jen and Ben: ?I talk to them all the time. It?s a wonderful time for them and I am so delighted to be with the children of people I love.?

It?s a pleasant surprise that Garber and Garner are truly this close, but it seems like an unconventional way to handle the media. Maybe Garner and Affleck feel more comfortable announcing things through Garber, maybe they think it seems friendlier or more like a family. Anyhoo, I really hope the little girl gets the nickname ?Sera? rather than ?Phina?. That sounds better, doesn?t it? Victor Garber will meet little Sera soon.

I know you all have been holding your collective breath waiting to hear Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s baby’s name. People had the exclusive news:
A week after their second daughter’s birth, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have announced her name, Garner’s reps tell PEOPLE exclusively.
It is Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck.
The baby was born Jan. 6 in Los Angeles. Garner and Affleck, both 36, are also parents to daughter Violet, 3.
While no explanation was offered for the name, or if she was named for anyone, one Web site specializing in the origin of names refers to Seraphina as “derived from the Biblical word ’seraphim,’ which was Hebrew in origin and meant ‘fiery ones.’ “
Well, they could have done a lot worse. If they call her Sera that won’t be weird at all. They could’ve named her the feminine form ‘Kin-tan-tee’, whatever that would be.
