Joking with the pesky shutterbugs, Ben Affleck stopped by a coffee shop in Santa Monica, California on Tuesday (April 30).
The "Argo" star looked rugged in a red vest, plaid shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers, as he gestured at the paparazzi on his way inside.
Recently, the Academy Award-winning director was asked to close out the 38th season of "Saturday Night Live."
Airing on May 18th, the 40-year-old actor will team up with musical guest Kanye West for his fifth appearance, earning him a coveted spot in the "Five-Timer's Club."

Basking in the glory of his Oscar victory, Ben Affleck spent Friday (March 1) afternoon with her adorable daughter Seraphina.
The daddy-daughter duo made their way over to Brentwood Country Market where the ?Argo? star picked up a fresh cup of Joe before heading back home.
After taking home the Academy Award for Best Picture on Sunday (February 24), Ben quickly got rid of his well-groomed beard.
According to reports, Affleck?s wide Jennifer Garner shaved the scruff at an award show after party.
"He did it to mark the end of a chapter. It had that ceremonial quality to it,? a source told E! News.

| Ben Affleck steps out without his beard: hot or kind of meh? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Ben Affleck yesterday, showing off his newly shorn face with a little stubble. Ben off course shaved off his beard at a post-Oscar party, where he was likely doing tequila shots with George Clooney to numb the pain. US Weekly reported that his co-worker/wife brought some clippers with her in her purse and Ben did the deed in a hallway. You just know that he left hair laying around everywhere afterwards and that some poor worker had to sweep it up. Cleaning up hair is the worst.
Ben usually does it for me despite his extreme well-documented douchiness and constant disrespect of his wife. I thought he was really hot in Argo, in The Town, and in the crappy movies he starred in earlier in this career. (Although Forces of Nature wasn’t bad. I love Sandra Bullock.) Ben was looking especially manly to me with that beard, and I can imagine being Garner and dealing with his issues in exchange for the sexy times, if only in theory. In practice it’s probably just as much work as he’s making it out to be.
Without the beard he’s not as hot to me, and that’s weird because I usually like clean cut guys. (And bald guys! And Ben is usually neither.) Maybe it’s this doofy outfit he’s wearing, a too-big jacket over a checked shirt with jeans. (US Weekly has a better photo here.) This is some late 80s throwback outfit, when preppy was in. All he needs are some boat shoes to complete the look. He probably had a business meeting or something, but he could have kept it business casual and not as dorky.
In comparison, here he is just before the Oscars looking rugged as hell. Mmmm.
Then this. Ok, I take it back he’s still hot. Just not AS hot. My opinion of him has changed though too, I have to say.

| Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner are still campaigning for that Oscar, with dimples! | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I was going to make a big deal about these photos of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner and the Dimple Parade. I thought today was the last day of Oscar voting, like the ballots were due today, and this was Ben and Jen?s last big push, last big photo op just to remind Oscar voters that OMG HAPPY FAMILY DIMPLES. But I was wrong ? ?final balloting? begins today and extends to February 19th (for online voters). We still have 11 days of dimples!!!!!! And after that, Ben turns into a surly pumpkin. After that, no more well-dressed Ben holding hands with his daughters on the daily coffee run. No more Ben smiling sheepishly and winningly for the paparazzi. No more public displays of affection for his wife. After those Oscar ballots are in, Ben will go back to being grumpy and surly and he?ll go back to flipping off the paps.
I wonder if Ben is exhausted with all of this happy, dimply family time? I?m not asking that to be rude, I?m still getting used to Ben?s about-face. A year ago, it seemed like he could care less about looking like a devoted family man. He had other things to do, he wasn?t interested in being a stay-at-home dad.
So, will Ben end up winning at the Oscars? I think it?s looking pretty good that Argo will take Best Picture, although there is still a week and a half of hustling left, so you can be sure that Ben and Jen will be out in full force. Incidentally, CB recently saw Argo and she really enjoyed it, although she had the same criticism that I saw from a lot of critics ? when Ben is directing himself, he definitely puts himself on camera too often, often to the detriment of the story. So while Argo is a really good movie, Ben still has some issues?

Ben Affleck continued his winning streak last night with a victory at the Directors Guild of America Awards. The DGA nominees included a list of people who should have been recognized with Oscar nominations ? not only Affleck, but Kathryn Bigelow and Tom Hooper. Anyway, Affleck won Best Director which means that Argo will probably win Best Picture at the Oscars in all likelihood, and that still means Ben gets a trophy I think. Not just Ben, but George Clooney too? So, that?s nice. Meanwhile, I have no clue who will win Best Director at the Oscars. At all. I guess Steven Spielberg for Lincoln? Maybe Ang Lee? When Ben won, he said “I don’t this makes me a real director, but I think it means I’m on my way.” Blah, fake humble, etc. You can read some of the DGA coverage here ? I?m kind of ?over? feeling sorry for him for being snubbed.
More photos from the event ? Jennifer Garner came out to support Ben. Her dress is Antonio Berardi. Pretty. The shift-dress cut suits her ? she needs strong, simple lines.
ANNIE in Valentino. Pretty, but I guess she doesn?t look pregnant here at all.
Mmm? Hugh Jackman. God, Hugh and Ben are really giving us some ?bromance? vibes. And they look alike. Who would you rather?
Lena Dunham in Thakoon. Meh. It looks like a wrinkled prom dress.
Quvenzhane Wallis is adorable. I love her.

Enjoying some quality time with his girls, Ben Affleck took Violet and Seraphina to a Pacific Palisades flea market on Sunday (January 27).
With his little beauties glammed up in Pink coats and pulling a wagon, the proud papa kept a close eye on is brood as they searched for treasures.
Meanwhile, the father-of-three is fresh off a big win at the Producers Guild Awards for his production work on the drama ?Argo.?
He also picked up a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Drama and Best Director earlier this month.

| Ben Affleck on his Oscar snub: 'It was disappointing at first, but I?m over it' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Ah, The Long Dimpled Campaign! Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were out and about on Friday in LA with their kids Samuel and Seraphina. It was raining, that?s why Ben is wincing in most of these photos. Not that I?m paying too much attention, but does Ben get pap?d with his son all that much? I feel like this is a special occasion ? over the past few months of Happy Family Oscar Campaigning, Ben has usually been out with his daughters. But there?s Samuel ? and he looks just like his sisters!! Those Garner genes are incredibly strong, aren?t they? It?s like the Jolie-Pitt genes ? all of the biological kids look really similar, like there?s only one way for those genes to combine. Anyway, Ben and Jen and Samuel were out and about for Seraphina?s karate class. I kind of like that Seraphina is enrolled in a karate class ? she must be more of a tomboy, because it seems like Violet is more a girly-girl who takes ballet.
As for the neverending Oscar Campaign (less than one month to go!), Ben was honored at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival over the weekend ? he received the ?Modern Master? award (Matt Damon appeared to present him with the award), and Ben got to sit with Leonard Maltin for two hours (in front of an audience) and discuss his work as an actor and director. Hilariously, Gigli was noticeably absent from Ben?s oeuvre, and at least Ben had the balls to note it publicly, telling the LAT ?I?m just relieved they didn?t sneak in ?Gigli.?? Ben is now putting himself forth as the underdog for the campaign, which is a smart move (it worked for Meryl Streep!). Ben told the crowd, ?We’re still a long shot?” for Best Picture. As for his snub for a Best Director nomination, Ben is playing an angle of ?slightly hurt but still very proud of the film?. Here?s what he had to say:
“The analytical part of me really enjoys burrowing into the odds,” Affleck told me. “That said, one of the least appealing things in this process is its competitive aspect. That’s why I’ve gone out of my way to do things … like I emailed ['Silver Linings Playbook' distributor] Harvey [Weinstein] today and I’ve talked to ['Silver Linings' writer-director] David O. Russell and I made sure to run into Steven Spielberg at AFI … just to appreciate them and support their work too. That’s important.”
Without prompting, Affleck said not receiving an Oscar nomination for director has been “freeing,” giving him the chance to focus fully on the prospects for the movie itself and its many nominees, which include actor Alan Arkin and writer Chris Terrio.
“Of course, it was disappointing at first,” Affleck said. “But I’m over it. And I’m happy to still be out here talking about the movie. I’m having fun.” He finished the rest of his glass of Jack Daniels. “Except for watching those ‘Pearl Harbor’ clips again. I wasn’t expecting quite so much of that, especially at an awards show.”
[From the LAT]
Well played. I think if everyone is telling you ?You?re going to get nominated, you?re going to win!? and you don?t even get a nomination, it?s perfectly acceptable to show your disappointment, just as long as you don?t come across as entitled or whiny. Ben just seems diplomatic and? somewhat decent (except for the drinking Jack Daniels ? WTF?!). Who knows, maybe this nomination snub will HELP Argo?s Best Picture chances?
Last thing ? Ben took part in W Magazine?s annual Oscar profile series, and in his video he?s asked who is his ?cinematic crush?. His answer: “I think Brad Pitt is my cinematic crush. Brad Pitt to me is like the perfect man and actor. … Brad, I hope this doesn’t disturb you to hear.” Cute.

Though he may have been snubbed for an Academy Award this year, Ben Affleck was honored for his work with a cause close to his heart at the Cinema For Peace 2013 Gala For Humanity at the Beverly Hills hotel on Friday (January 11).
Joined by Cindy McCain, wife of Senator John McCain, the "Argo" star looked handsome in a gray suit and black tie.
According to the organization, the central mission of the Cinema for Peace Foundation is to provide support through the funding, production and worldwide distribution, and promotion of film projects that focus on humanitarian and justice issues such as the prevention of disease (e.g. AIDS), terrorism, ecocide, war, poverty, and violation of human rights.
Founded by the 40-year-old actor himself, the Eastern Congo Initiative uses local, community-based approaches to help economic and social development in the impoverished land.
