These are some new photos of Christian Bale and Amy Adams on the set of David O. Russell?s latest film, which is still untitled, but it?s about the 1970s Abscam investigation. Just drink it in. THAT is Christian Bale. The same Christian Bale who almost always signs on to roles where he has to lose a crazy amount of weight so that everybody can talk about how hardcore and Method he is. I guess Christian Bale wanted to change it up a bit this time around. This time, he wanted a donut with sprinkles and some cheesy fries. My favorite parts of these photos: the pitch-perfect costume choices (my father dressed like that well into the 1980s), the NOT-ironic aviator shades and the absolutely amazing combover-wiglet work. BEST SUPPORTING WIGLET!!!!
Christian and the cast are filming this in Massachusetts, it seems. Amy and Christian already worked together on The Fighter, another David O. Russell film, also filmed in Massachusetts. The film is set in the 1970s, obviously, and it?s about the FBI investigation into the bribery of Congressmen and state officials. The investigations brought down sitting Congressmen and it will probably be a really good movie. Jennifer Lawrence will play Christian?s character?s wife. The film also stars Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, Louis CK and Alessandro Nivola.
PS? Is it just me or does Amy Adams? beauty manage to work in literally any time period?

Has anyone else noticed how chilled out Christian Bale has been lately? By ?chilled out? I mean ?he hasn?t raged at anyone (that we know of)? and by ?lately? I mean ?since he won his Oscar, I think.? Like, these are some photos of Bale, his wife Sibi and their daughter Emmaline a few days ago, out to lunch at Katsuya in Brentwood and? nothing. The paparazzi snapped some photos of Christian with his wife and daughter, and nothing happened. Christian didn?t punch anybody. He didn?t scream at the pap. He didn?t throw anything. Could it be that Christian Bale has matured? Could it be that he?s learned to play the game a little bit? Or maybe he was just tired and he had a full stomach. He seems really dressed down too. His Emmaline is a cutie, isn?t she? It?s not a full-on Dimple Parade, but it?s nice to see Christian out with his girls.
Christian?s post-Batman career is still moving along steadily, just as you would expect, quite honestly. Before, during and after Batman, Christian was and is considered one of the great working actors, so of course he still gets to work on interesting projects. Next up for Bale is a now-untitled film (formerly called American Bullsh-t) reuniting Bale with his Fighter director, David O. Russell. The project is getting buzz because Russell has also signed up his Silver Linings actors for the film too ? Jennifer Lawrence was just cast as Bale?s wife and Bradley Cooper got a part too, as did Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner. Sounds like a really good ensemble.
And this week, Deadline reported that Bale is ?in early talks? to star in a film called Everest, a ?mountain climbing disaster film? based on the 1996 disastrous expedition to scale Mount Everest. Three different expeditions were hit by a sudden blinding storm and by the time it was all over, eight climbers died.? Apparently there are like a dozen Everest-themed films in the pipeline at various studios, so don?t get your hopes up. You can read more about the project here.

In China to promote Flowers of War, Christian Bale took a detour to a village in eastern China to pay his respects to 40-year-old Chen Guangcheng, a self-taught blind lawyer who campaigned against victims of abusive practices of China’s family-planning officials (forced abortions) in the late 1990s. Chen has been confined to his home with his wife, mother and daughter and watched 24/7 byguardssince he was released from prison. He was sentenced to four years on what many believe were trumped up charges.
Bale learned about him through a CNN report and wanted to “meet the man, shake his hand and say what an inspiration he is.” He didn’t get the chance as when he arrived, plain clothes guards shouted at Bale, CNN correspondent Stan Grant and cameraman Brad Olson to “Go away!” Bale, forgetting he’s in China, asked, “Why can I not visit this free man?” Then he was punched by guards aiming for his camera as they tried to drag him away. Then they were chased through the country. Most likely while Benny Hill music was playing.
A precarious scene ensued Thursday as one of the gray minivans chased our car at high speed on bumpy country roads for some 40 minutes.
When the dust settled, we counted a broken car, a damaged camera — and a “Batman” star disappointed at — but not shocked by — his failure to see a personal hero. CNN
Bale should have just stood there, waved his hands and said, “Me no speako English,” and in that moment of confusion, ran towards the house to get Chen’s autograph all while shrieking with excitement.

Christian Bale may have turned into a bit of an asshole these last few years (which, along with his Grizzly Adams look has ruined my horny for him), but you have to give him some credit for confronting some pissed off Chinese guards. Too bad he didn’t bust out some mad Batman skillz. Says E! Online,
While in China promoting The Flowers of War, a war drama set in 1930s Nanjing, the Oscar winner attempted to pay a visit to activist and attorney Chen Ghuangcheng, a blind family man who’s been under house arrest since his release from prison last year on charges of damaging property and disrupting traffic during a protest.
And the flock of guards who are stationed outside Chen’s property didn’t take kindly to Bale’s arrival, as shown in the footage shot by the CNN crew who made the trip with the actor to the village of Dongshigu in eastern China.
“I am here to see Chen Guangcheng,” Bale told the guards in English, as one of his guides translated.
The guards, bundled up in winter coats and hats, replied sternly, “Go away!” A few of them also physically tried to turn the group around back down the driveway.
When they were denied entry, Bale took out a little camera and started filming the action and started asking, “Why can I not visit this free man?” In an effort to get him to stop, several guards shoved him and grabbed for his camera.
Once back in their car on the way to Beijing, Bale explained, “What I really wanted to do was to meet the man, shake his hand and say what an inspiration he is.”
Meanwhile, some of Chen’s guards had piled into their own van and gave chase to Bale and the crew.
I think this was a big misunderstanding. See, the problem is is that Christian passed by the “Prisoner Chen Guangcheng Souvenir Store” and didn’t even buy anything. You know how those Asians get all uptight about that. What the guards were really saying was, “You not buy anything, you go! You go now!”

Christian Bale is done with the Batman franchise. He and Nolan wrapped filming a few days ago which marked the end of Batman.
“I wrapped a few days ago so that will be the last time I’m taking that [Batman hood] off,” The Dark Knight Rises star tells the Philippine Daily Inquirer. “I believe that the whole production wrapped yesterday, so it’s all done. Everything’s finished. It’s me and [director Christopher Nolan] — that will be the end of that Batman era.” Us Magazine
This is bad news for everyone who loves continuity because you know they’re going to want to extend this series for another three movies when they see how much it makes on opening weekend. Batman 4 will probably be titled Batman vs the Pale, Brooding Vampires and Maybe Werewolves If They’re Still Popular.

Over the weekend, The Dark Knight Rises was filming exterior scenes in New York City. The only major actors who were spotted were Christian Bale and Joseph Gordon Levitt. We know who Bale is, obviously, and he?s in his Bruce Wayne gear in these photos - oddly enough, he?s looking rather douchey and Patrick Bateman-ish, which is uncomfortable because Bruce Wayne should never remind us of one of Bale?s old characters, especially one that was a chainsaw-wielding serial killer (spoiler?).
The fan-boys and girls are still trying to figure out JGL?s cop character, though. Is he a good cop or a dirty cop? Is he going to help Batman or not? The Hollywood Reporter identified JGL?s character as ?young special assignment cop John Blake?. JGL looks cute as a cop, right? But he still has such a baby face. Adorable.
Interestingly enough, there are rumors that director Christopher Nolan wants to use the Occupy Wall Street protests within the film - although in these photos, the scenes seemed to be filming around Trump Tower, which is apparently standing in for Wayne Enterprises. The film is now going to move to New Jersey.

Catching a flight out of the city, Christian Bale was spotted at LAX airport in Los Angeles, California earlier today (July 26).
The "American Psycho" star kept it casual for his high-flying adventure, sporting an Adidas jogging suit and a scruffy 'do as he boarded the plane.
The travels come as Bales continues work on "The Dark Knight Rises," a movie in which another name has been added to the already star-studded cast - "Stargate SG-1" actor, Christopher Judge.
You can catch all the action, as well as fellow cast members Anne Hathaway and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, when the final "Batman" installment hits theaters on July 20, 2012.

He?s one of the top actors in Hollywood, so it?s no wonder Christian Bale took home the Best Supporting Actor Oscar last night.
The ?Dark Knight? stud took the stage at the Kodak Theatre to accept his trophy and thank those who helped him achieve the magnificent feat.
A bit choked up, Bale started, "I didn't think I was like this. [Thanks to] my wonderful wife and our little girl, who's taught me so much more than I'll ever be able to teach her."
Looking around for Dicky Eklund, Christian continued, "Where's my quacker? Hey, mate, you're the best! He's had a wonderful story, and I can't wait to see the next chapter. If you want to be a champ, go train with him! Check him out, he deserves it!"

The Best Supporting Actor statue has gone to Christian Bale for his role as drug addicted former professional boxer Dicky Ecklund in The Fighter. Bale was widely considered the front-runner in this category, having swept the awards this season. There was some speculation that Geoffrey Rush might win, but it went to the ultimate method actor, who was somewhat defensive about his preparation for the role when Ryan Seacrest asked him about it on the red carpet. Bale told Seacrest: “When you get a right role… you want to be obsessive, you want to immerse yourself as much as you can… People deserve, people are paying money for it. You want to bust your ass.” And that ass busting was recognized by the Academy tonight.
In Bale’s acceptance speech he said “Bloody hell. What a room full of talented and inspirational people, and what the hell am I doing here, in the midst of you? Such an honor.” He thanked director David O. Russell for “making [our work] mean something.” He joked that he’s “not going to drop the F bomb” like Melissa Leo as he’s done in the past. Then he thanked his co-stars and gave a shout out to the guy he played, Dicky Ecklund, and even plugged Dicky’s website and personal training service. He thanked Mark Wahlberg, his team, and got choked up when he thanked his wife, calling her his “mast to the storms of life” and his daughter, saying “Our little girl, who’s taught me so much more than I’ll ever be able to teach her.”
It was really sweet, you could tell he was trying to be professional, and he was. Bale was thoughtful, funny, emotional and struck just the right notes in his speech. It’s his time and he wanted to show that he deserved this. He surely did.
