Cameron Diaz is reportedly taking a break from acting, according to sources who spoke to Us Weekly. Officially, she’s working on a sequel to The Body Book which is a good plan. She makes plenty of money from acting, but it can’t be too satisfying to keep churning out romcoms. Cami’s also settling into married life with Benji Madden. We’ve heard about how they’re pro-active in marriage counseling to make it for the long haul. The tabs tried to plant pregnancy stories from the moment Cameron got married. Now Us says Cameron really does want a baby. She’s taking a “sabbatical” to try for pregnancy. Hmm:
Cameron Diaz?s new role isn?t in front of a camera! A source tells Us Weekly the actress is taking a year off from making movies to “be a wife and try to have a baby” with husband of five months, Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden.
“All she wants is to stay home and enjoy this special time in her life. She has told her team she won?t answer the phone for any amount of money — even though she has received offers for various things. She is adamant that she is not available for anything.”
The pair?s $10 million Beverly Hills mansion, where they held their 100-guest traditional Jewish wedding ceremony in January, provides the perfect retreat. Diaz, who?s “all about healthy living,” meditates every day and is one of those “really spiritual” people who values her quiet time alongside 36-year-old Madden, a second insider says.
“She loves watching TV and movies at home with Benji, and she?s working on new recipes for a follow-up to The Body Book,” the insider continues. “Her priorities have 100 percent shifted. She wanted to settle down and she has.”
And when Madden’s away, his wife is always on his mind. “He’s incredibly faithful,” the source adds. “He messages her all the time and tells her how much he loves her. She does not doubt him for one moment.”
[From Us Weekly
This story makes me side-eye a bit. Not because Cameron may have reversed her previous stance on having kids. That's fine and up to her, but no one has to "drop everything" to try and get pregnant. The media slant on women giving up their entire lives to hope for a baby is tiresome. I'd prefer to hear that Cameron simply wanted to take a break. She's been working nonstop for decades and could use some legit time off. Us hints at these things, but they still led their story with the "giving it all up for baby" angle. So predictable.

A new story in this week’s issue of Star seems largely based upon these paparazzi photos from 4/22. Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden visited United Talent Agency in LA. They didn’t hold hands (like they used to do) but walked apart from each other. Star says jaws were clenched and tension was rife. They exited the building separately. Cameron flipped off the paps (although I didn’t include those pics), and she and Benji departed in separate cars. Trouble?
When Cam and Benji married in January after an 8-month courtship, I was charmed. Cameron gave a sweet speech about how she waited to marry because she “didn’t want to settle.“ ‘Tis true that girlfriend dated an army of douches. The pregnancy rumors began immediately, but we haven’t seen a bump yet. In March, we heard that the couple was already in marriage counseling as a preventative measure.
Now Star has a 4-page roundup of what’s (supposedly) going wrong in this marriage. The gist is that Benji has turned into a nitpicky, jealous killjoy over Cam’s career. He thinks Cameron is capable of doing more serious acting instead of a bunch of forgettable romcoms. He wants her to do indie movies and also not to make out with other dudes for work. Cameron doesn’t want to stop making romcom money. She wants a baby, he doesn’t, and so on. Some highlights:
* When Cam & Benji left UTA, “They were not happy. An upset-looking Cameron walked out of the building before Benji and gave photographers the finger. Benji also looked angry when he exited after her. But he didn’t try and follow her; he got into his car and left.
* Trouble is brewing. “All of a sudden, they can’t seem to agree on anything. And they’re both wondering why they were in such a hurry to get married.”
* “Benji has been nagging Cam to get her career back on track and focus on more serious roles, instead of her typical romantic comedies, so he pushed her to set up a meeting at a new agency that day. But at the meeting, Benji was basically trying to run the show. He kept talking to the agents about were he saw Cam’s career going, instead of letting her do the talking on her own.”
* Cameron was upset. She told Benji that he knows nothing about the movie biz and should focus on his music. They didn’t speak again that day. “She used to think it was cute that he was taking an interest in her work, but now she’s finding it increasingly annoying.
* Benji always compares himself to Cameron’s past lovers, and he worries that “she’s out of his league.”
* Cameron desperately wants a baby (of course). Benji doesn’t want one yet, and Cameron feels like he pulled a bait and switch with her. Because before they married, Benji said that being a dad is “what every man wants.” But “with all the concerns she’s had about being a parent, she finally feels like she’s in the right place. But now Benji’s done a 180, and it’s killing her. She thinks he lied about wanting a baby.”
* Both parties believed they met The One, but now they feel dumb for rushing into marriage.”They were so smitten, and now their relationship is unraveling just as fast as it started.”
[From Star, print edition, May 11, 2015]
One unusual thing about this story — it features a man doing the “nagging” a woman instead of the usual equation. If this story is true, Benji needs to back off on Cameron’s career. She’s been doing her own thing for two decades of adult life. She doesn’t need a man stepping in to micromanage her career. As far as a baby goes, Cameron always said she wasn’t drawn to motherhood, but she also used to say that about marriage. So who knows if she really wants a kiddo. Did these two rush into marriage? Perhaps, but that doesn’t necessarily forecast disaster. This story may not be true at all. They could have exited the building separately and angry for a variety of reasons. Or maybe they’re on different pages for more reasons than one.
I do hope that Cameron and Benji make it work … because that dreadful tattoo would be the ultimate regret.

| Cameron Diaz: People use social media 'to get validation from strangers' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Cameron Diaz covers the April issue of Cosmo UK to promote nothing. Really! Her IMDB profile shows no upcoming releases, and she doesn’t have a book coming out anytime soon. I sometimes joke about Cameron having a standing date with Cosmo covers, but maybe it’s true.
The interview is typical Cosmo stuff. Cameron pays lip service to love making (she’s married now, so let’s not be gross). She covers her love of exercise and cake (both good things). I tried to grab onto her discussion about how people make excuses not to exercise, but that’s not much fun. So I’m defaulting to her judgy take on social media. To be fair, I’m judgy about it too. I love seeing links to fascinating stories on Facebook or Twitter but cringe at oversharing. Let’s do this:
On getting busy: “It?s something healthy that we need to be doing for many different reasons.”
On regular exercise: “You have to just do it. Once you commit and really put in the effort, your body goes, ‘Oh, it’s not OK to be without this.’ People say, ‘My body rejects exercise.’ No, it doesn’t. Your mind rejects exercise.”
She loves cake: “Wellbeing is an equation. Remember, you don?t have to have the whole cake, you can have a piece. Don’t deprive yourself. Have fun. Just be self-aware. If your equation is 80% good, 20% bad most of the time, then a little movement toward the centre isn?t going to affect you much.”
On Facebook & Instagram: “I think social media is a crazy-ass experiment on society. The way people use it to get validation from a bunch of strangers is dangerous. What?s the point?”
[From Cosmopolitan]
I agree with Cameron (to an extent). Social media is an enjoyable way to share useful links and shoot the sh*t online. But some people do use Facebook and Instagram for validation. They try to convince everyone else that their life is omg, so amazing. Have you watched this short film about Fakebook? I find it hilarious, but my wall is mostly limited to dog photos, so what do I know? Cameron used to Instagram, mostly to promote The Body Book. Her Facebook profile still promotes the book, but she’s bored with social media for social purposes. Whereas her husband, Benji Madden, Instagrammed a massive “Cameron” tattoo last week. Poor guy.

| Cameron Diaz on marriage: 'I waited because I didn't want to settle' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I don’t know how much interest remains in the Cameron Diaz/Benji Madden nuptials (which took place on Monday night), but some sweet updates filtered out from inside sources. Yes, I flinch a little bit too when I hear the word “sweet,” but these are pretty cool details. Most of them, anyway.
In Touch published a full account of how many glitches happened at the wedding. Joel Madden (as the best man) dropped Cameron’s wedding ring during the ring exchange. Cameron tried to change into a reception dress, but she couldn’t remove her wedding gown and panicked. There was also a power malfunction immediately before Cam walked down the tented aisle. But all of the guests — including Gwyneth Paltrow, Samantha Ronson, Reese Witherspoon, and Drew Barrymore — had a great time. Lionel Richie sang at the reception, and Nicole Richie stood as the matron of honor.
The Mail got wind of the toasts exchanged at the reception. Cameron explained to the entire party why she “waited” to get married:
Cameron Diaz and husband Benji Madden tied the knot at her Beverly Hills mansion Monday evening following a nine-month romance.
MailOnline can exclusively reveal the 42-year-old actress delivered a touching toast to her 35-year-old groom, telling their 127 guests she’s happy she held out for Mr. Right.
“I waited because I didn’t want to settle,” [Diaz] said, flashing her famous mega-watt smile. “Now I got the best man ever. My special man. He’s mine.”
The tattooed musician inspired laughter when he remarked: “I only asked to be in control of two things: The music and the cake.”
Cameron was no Bridezilla, but she did lose her cool at two separate points during her special day.
When the lights flickered and went out for 10 seconds before her big bridal entrance, Diaz could be heard cursing: “S***, f***, this is f***ed up. You’ve got to be f***ing kidding me!”
[From Daily Mail]
Oh, to be a gossamer-winged butterfly on the wall when Goop encountered Sam Ronson at the reception. Can you imagine? Goop is probably the only person to address Sam as “Samantha” in person.
Anyway. Cameron’s speech inadvertently addresses my curiosity over the quick change of heart from the hardened Cameron we all witnessed a year ago. She hinted at previous proposals, right? I’m glad she waited to marry Benji instead of, say, Jared Leto. Being married to Jared would be an absolute nightmare. Not only would he be chasing randoms, but there’d be so much hair in the shower drain. Gross.
Quick quiz: Can you tell the Madden brothers apart?

These are photos of Cameron Diaz at the NYC premiere of Annie. Cameron’s wearing a Dior dress and boots. The whole outfit is so matchy matchy. Dior’s trying to go structural lately, but this is better than many of Cameron’s other red carpet choices. I think I owned those boots in high school and paired them with slouchy socks (such a baller).
Annie comes out on the 19th in the US, and it will make way too much money because of the holiday crowd. Then Hollywood will feel overly optimistic about remakes, and then we’ll receive some weird sequel. Cameron plays the 2014 version of Miss Hannigan, so she sings in this film. DListed posted a video that I couldn’t watch past the 30 second mark. Feel free to torture yourself because its NSFL (not safe for life). Cameron has a new interview with the Express. Once again, a journo asked her if she wants kids. Her answer is still “no.” One day, Cameron’s gonna haul off and whip out her bitch with a lecture. I can’t wait for that day, but she’s playing nice for now:
She’s grateful: “Every single day. I remind myself that this is a great job and I?m very lucky.”
Her singing in the movie: “Even though I was terrified of singing, I just had to do it. On Annie, I cried uncontrollably. Everybody was so supportive because I was so pathetic. But we laughed a lot too, because the only way to get through scary things is to have a sense of humour about them. I did a lot of training to help me find a voice that was presentable.”
On passing age 40: “This is the best time of my life. I love being this age. Are you kidding? So much just falls away. Fear, mostly. It’s the best age. You just stop being afraid and you don?t worry about what men think.”
On dudes: “I think guys are amazing. I love the differences between men and women. I think they’re wonderful and keep things interesting. We can?t walk in each other?s shoes. We don?t know what it?s really like, but we certainly can make an effort to know each other a little bit better.”
Her turn-ons: “Rudeness. I don?t have any patience with that. Oh, and too much cologne. But, basically, I love a sense of humour because that?s what tells you how smart a man is.”
She doesn’t want kids: “If that happens, then it happens. But I have a lot of girlfriends who don?t have children, so it?s not like I?m the spinster of the group. I like protecting people but I was never drawn to being a mom.”
Her parents: “I miss my pop but he is with me all the time. Everything I know comes from him and my mom. My dad encouraged us to do anything we wanted. I had amazing parents. We weren?t privileged — very much the opposite — but I grew up in the generation that still played outside, not like kids today. We were always riding our bikes, roller-skating or playing football in the street.”
On cosmetic procedures: “I?m not going to say that I haven?t tried those things because everybody has. My girlfriends have. Things like Botox and fillers, they’re part of figuring things out, knowing yourself and going, ‘Oh right, this doesn?t work for me.’ But I love my laugh lines — I guess they mean I?ve been smiling my whole life.”
[The Express]
It’s strange how Cameron lost the “fear” after turning 40, and then her nice guy showed up. Funny how that works. My guess is that Benji and Cam will be together for a few years. He’ll propose and want kids, and Cameron will dump him. Then she’ll go back to dating douches. Cameron’s a little boring right now, but that’s okay. I appreciate her words on aging and the admission of Botox. She’s definitely lightened up on the ‘Tox. She was looking pretty waxy back in 2012, around the same time she probably got bolt-ons.
Here are some more premire pics. Rose Byrne is wearing Mary Katrantzou. Quvenzhane Wallis look so cute. I don’t have an ID on her cress, but those shoes are Chucks. Jamie Foxx looked fiiiine, but I still won’t watch this movie.

Cameron Diaz covers the January issue of Cosmo to promote her role as Miss Hannigan in the Annie remake. I find that a little bit funny (demographic wise), but Cameron has been on Cosmo’s cover more times than I can count. This is a regular pit stop for her. The shoot is typical Cameron. The interview is … different. Thanks to nice guy Benji Madden, we can witness a kinder, gentler Cam. That’s not very good for gossip, is it? Her answers come from a place that says, “Finally, I can relax in a relationship without worrying about the guy screwing me over.” On the other hand, she’s totally a relationship expert now:
On making a romance work: “You have to find someone in the same place as you are. Timing is everything. If you get into a relationship where you want something the guy doesn?t want, it?s never gonna work. You?re never going to get him to be in that place. No matter how old you are, finding the guy who?s in the same place as you are and wants to show up is the only way a relationship works, period.?
Lessons from past relationships: “Here’s the thing. You make the same mistake over and over again until you learn your lesson. We girls sometimes do the thing where we pick the same person over and over again — they look and seem different, but deep down, they?re the same. And that?s on us.”
Her singing in Annie: “It was the most terrifying thing I?ve ever done in a movie. I cried a lot. [Miss Hannigan is] bitter because her chance at fame was stolen, and all she can taste is that taste, which is very much in line with this day and age. People determine your value by how many friends you have on Facebook or if you?re Instagram famous.”
[From Cosmopolitan]
Yeah, Cameron is completely happy with Benji. It shows. She’s looking back at her romantic past with a new perspective. Girlfriend realizes that she wasted too many years on a bunch of tools (Timberlake, Leto, A-Rod, and P. Diddy). Earlier this year, Cam ranted about how everyone cheats in relationships, and women should examine why they are being cheated on. Now she’s more at peace, as if she realizes Benji wouldn’t do that to her. It’s kind of awesome. I mean, Cameron is still a rude pill in other ways, but I’m happy she and Benji found each other.

Cameron Diaz covers the November issue of Marie Claire. She sure doesn’t rest for long. We’ve only just recovered from her extra talky press tour for The Other Woman and mostly ignored the S*x Tape promotion. Now Cam’s promoting her role as Miss Hannigan in the Annie remake. Is anyone excited for this movie? I dig Jamie Foxx but still can’t get worked up for this flick.
Cam looks lovely in this shoot even though the styling is uninspired. Some interview excerpts have been released, and … I don’t know why journos continue to ask Cameron about marriage and babies. The tabloids really zero in on her too. She started dating Benji Madden in May, and Star knocked Cami up a month later. People (a publicist’s best friend) had Cam and Benji talking about a wedding in July. E! Online made a big deal about Cameron wearing a ring on “that” finger last week. It didn’t look like an engagement ring at all. Here’s more from Cameron on how she doesn’t care about marriage or kids:
On her role in Annie: “It’s not very often you get to do a musical. Even though I was terrified of doing it, I kind of had to. The two things I’m most terrified of are heights and singing in front of people. I’ve jumped out of airplanes and scaled sides of cliffs — not to get over my fears, but to address them. I just felt like this is something that needed to be addressed. I cried uncontrollably. Everybody was so supportive and having fun with it because I was so pathetic, but the only way to get through scary things is to have a sense of humor about it.”
On appearing fully nude for a film: “People have seen my butt. I’ve shown the top of my butt, the bottom of my butt. I?m not opposed to doing nudity, as long as it’s part of the story. I’ll do whatever has to get done if it’s the right thing.”
Will she marry Benji? “I’m not looking for a husband or marriage or not not looking for that stuff. I’m living, not thinking what I should or shouldn’t be doing with my life.”
On having children: “We live in a society where everyone has kids, so they want other people to have kids. There is this culture that says celebrities are supposed to be just like us, so people think, ‘I have children, why doesn’t she?? But I?m not going to do something because it?s expected. If a family happens, then it happens. If children come to me, then I would do that, but I?m not someone who feels like she has to do something because it’s expected.”
[From Marie Claire]
Maybe Cameron will eventually marry Benji. Then again, maybe not. They still seem like an odd couple, but he’s not a douchebag like most of her previous boyfriends. To paraphrase SATC, maybe his cab light is on, and he’ll get super serious and propose. I think Cameron will have the upper hand in deciding if they ever go forward to the next step. She’s in control of this relationship.
On the nudity topic, I hope Cameron picks a decent movie if she decides to take it all off. Her choice of projects these days hasn’t been impressive.
