Here’s a cute photo of Nicole Richie on 5/12 at the Fifi Awards in New York City, and as usual, she attended the event all by her lonesome. Of course, this time there’s a valid excuse for husband Joel Madden’s absence, for he’s been busy shooting the Australian version of “The Voice.” Yet his presence down under has allegedly been a source of potential marital conflict as well, and there’s a story in this week’s issue of Star that alludes to trouble forecasted in another Star story from early January, which stated that Nicole was quite frustrated because Joel never takes care of their kids, and she was starting to feel like a single parent. Now that Joel is working on a separate continent, Star maintains that the marital tension has only grown worse, and now Nicole has apparently flown to Australia as well to help curb Joel’s “errative behavior” on the set. This combination of factors sounds like a total mess:
Nicole Richie to the rescue! The busy mom of two and “Fashion Star” mentor rushed to husband Joel Madden’s side, according to an insider, after learning of his erratic behavior while judging the Australian version of “The Voice.”
Signs of trouble were esspecially clear on May 14, when his bizarre antics forced the show’s reps to deny that he was intoxicated. In addition to making inappropriate comments to performers, “Joel was waving his hands around and looking wild-eyed,” says the insider. “The network claimed he was just nervous, but this is a rock star who’s used to playing in front of thousands of fans.”
Now Nicole is working hard to keep her mate in line by scheduling plenty of outings with daughter Harlow, 4, and son Sparrow, 2. “Joel swings between acting like a single man and partying without Nicole to wanting her beside him all the time,” another source tells Star. It’s like she has three kids.”

On one hand, it makes sense that Joel could be nervous with impromptu dialogue for the program if he’s only used to playing a well-rehearsed set, but it still sounds like the network’s publicists are just making excuses for him. Whatever the case, being drunk at work and wanting to party without his wife are neither signs of a decent employee nor a happily married man, respectively speaking. If this story is true, then Nicole would have good reason to be irritated with Joel, and it’s not fair if she really does feel like she has three children instead of two kids and a husband.

Spending an afternoon together, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden took their adorable children Harlow and Sparrow Madden to the zoo in Sydney, Australia today (May 15).
The cute family strolled along looking at the various animals and even got up close and personal with a big giraffe.
In personal news, the 30-year-old fashionista and her rocker hubby are looking at homes in the gorgeous Aussie city and Madden said, ?We are looking at schools and we are talking about maybe leasing a place for the next year.?
"I love the light. I love the space. I love that, unlike LA, if you want to find good food and space, you don't have to drive to it. Life is easy living here,? he added.

Gearing up for an exciting evening ahead, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden were spotted at the live show launch party for ?The Voice? in Sydney, Australia today (May 10).
The ?Simple Life? hottie looked darling in a fuzzy black dress while her Good Charlotte rocker hubby opted for a black fedora to go with his all-black ensemble.
Also in the house for the shindig, held at Bondi Icebergs, were native Aussies Keith Urban and Delta Goodrem.
Meanwhile, newly-divorced singer Seal made it out for the occasion as well, snapping photos of the shutterbugs.

Stepping out for a night full of fashion, Nicole Richie attended the NBC "Fashion Star" event at the H&M Flagship Store in New York City on Tuesday night (April 24).
The gorgeous fashionista posed solo and with her co-mentor, John Varvatos, for the awaiting photographers looking stunning in a navy and yellow dress adorned with gorgeous red pumps to add a pop of color.
Before tonight's episode, Richie took to her Twitter page to remind her followers to tune into one of the show's final epsiodes, tweeting, "New @NBCFashionStar tonight! Only a few more episodes to go before the finale! #FashionStar."
The 30 year-old designer and mom of two, also mentors with designer/singer, Jessica Simpson while supermodel, Elle Macpherson serves as host and executive producer.
The show, which gives aspiring designers a chance to be the next big fashion brand, premieres new episodes every Tuesday at 10/9c on NBC.

Celebrating the beautiful Easter day, Nicole Richie and her daughter Harlow were spotted out a a park yesterday afternoon (April 8).
The ?Simple Life? mommy and her adorable little girl enjoyed the sunshine and checked out some crazy fun sculptures as they immersed themselves in the springtime fun.
Nicole recently told press that she loves being able to juggle her motherly duties along with her career pursuits, clothing design, and hit show ?Fashion Star.?
?I am all about female empowerment and I just love that women are in a place now where we're working, creating and doing everything we love.?
Speaking of ?Fashion Star,? there?s an all new episode coming up tomorrow night (April 10) at 10ET/9CT on NBC titled ?Living Department Store Window.?

Hollywood loves big shindigs, and last night (April 2) Nicole Richie led a celebration to honor her father Lionel Richie's long and distinguished career in Las Vegas.
The ?Fashion Star? starlet donned a gorgeous floor-length yellow dress with a floral pattern as she took the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Meanwhile, Lionel was a busy man himself, singing a series of his hit songs with the help of stars like The Band Perry, Kenny Chesney, and Lady Antebellum.
Also in the house were celebrities like Marc Anthony and girlfriend Shannon de Lima, Faith Hill, and Tim McGraw.

Taking care of her to-do list, Nicole Richie was spotted hitting up VH1 Studios in New York City this afternoon (March 12).
The ?Simple Life? starlet was in the house to promote her brand new television show ?Fashion Star,? and she looked stylish in a turquoise animal print top with oversized sunglasses.
Earlier in the day, Nicole headed over to ABC Studios at Lincoln Center for an appearance on ?Live With Kelly,? donning a salmon dress with a white jacket and white heels.
And though she loves being a mom to her two kids Harlow and Sparrow, Nicole says she and her beau Joel Madden are taking a breather from having any more babies. ''I'm not ready for baby number three - it's not something I'm discussing with Joel at the moment, but maybe we'll have another child sometime in the future.?
''It's a full time job taking care of two children but they mean everything to me. It's hard to balance being a full-time mum and having a career, but somehow you manage.''
