I didn?t realize it yesterday when we were talking about Beyonce?s GQ cover that the pictorial is by Terry Richardson. So? of course. Of course it looks so trashy and p0rny. Because that?s Uncle Terry?s speciality. You know what I spend too much time thinking about? I think about whether these white-backgrounded, antiseptic, sleazy-p0rny Terry Richardson photo shoots really affect the way men think about sex and women on an aesthetic level. It just feels like the fast-food version of ?sexiness? ? no art, no mystery, no shadows, no nuance, just clinical, too-bright photos of scantily-clad girls looking sort of bored and vapid. Speaking of, you can read Beyonce?s GQ piece here. Some highlights:
Beyonc on her work ethic: ?I worked so hard during my childhood to meet this goal: By the time I was 30 years old, I could do what I want. I?ve reached that. I feel very fortunate to be in that position. But I?ve sacrificed a lot of things, and I?ve worked harder than probably anyone I know, at least in the music industry. So I just have to remind myself that I deserve it.?
?on her upcoming Super Bowl performance: ?One of the reasons I connect to the Super Bowl is that I approach my shows like an athlete,? she says now. ?You know how they sit down and watch whoever they?re going to play and study themselves? That?s how I treat this. I watch my performances, and I wish I could just enjoy them, but I see the light that was late. I see, ?Oh God, that hair did not work.? Or ?I should never do that again.? I try to perfect myself. I want to grow, and I?m always eager for new information.?
?on her power: ?I now know that, yes, I am powerful. I?m more powerful than my mind can even digest and understand.?
?on her work: ?I love my job, but it?s more than that: I need it. Because before I gave birth, it was the only time in my life, all throughout my life, that I was lost.”
Solange Knowles on her sister’s pursuit of perfection: ?I have very, very early?on memories of her rehearsing on her own in her room. I specifically remember her taking a line out of a song or a routine and just doing it over and over and over again until it was perfect and it was strong. At age 10, when everybody else was ready to say, ?Okay, I?m tired, let?s take a break,? she wanted to continue?to ace it and overcome it.?
[From GQ]
The GQ piece is pretty short ? it?s only 2 pages, less than they would give to a male cover profile ? and I would recommend that you read the whole thing. There are even more gems in there, including Beyonce?s thoughts on encouraging women to be financially independent from men, and there?s a lot about ?The Beyonce Archive?. She has a working archive of everything she has ever done, said, written, sung, etc, and it?s all contained in a ?temperature-controlled digital-storage facility that contains virtually every existing photograph of her, starting with the very first frames taken of Destiny’s Child, the ’90s girl group she once fronted; every interview she’s ever done; every video of every show she’s ever performed; every diary entry she’s ever recorded while looking into the unblinking eye of her laptop.? It also includes, oddly enough, THOUSANDS of hours of footage from her full-time ?visual director? who has literally been following her around with a camera SINCE 2005. I seriously can?t even imagine living like that.

Wow, after checking out these pictures of Beyonce in GQ, I’m pretty sure we missed a serious contender for MILF of the Year. Where was this all of 2012? Anyway, I don’t really get the point of the football helmet or poses, but I’d sure love to play a little two-hand touch with Beyonce. And

Beyonce is the cover girl for GQ?s February issue, also known as the nonsensical ?Hottest Women of the 21st Century? Issue. For real? We?re only at 2013 and we?re already ranking the hot girls of the century? Who made the hottest girls of the 20th century? I hope Eleanor Roosevelt made that list! She was HOT. Anyway, Beyonce?s cover is quite a lot of HIPS and under-boob (what is that called?) and belly jewelry. She looks good, don?t get me wrong. She looks very sexy. Are we still going to be talking about how sexy she is in 2099 though?
Meanwhile, did you hear that Beyonce is once again taking center stage at Pres. Obama?s inaugural? In January 2009, for Obama?s first inaugural, Beyonce was given the task of singing ?At Last? for Pres. Obama and Michelle?s first dance of the evening. This time, Beyonce actually gets to be on stage for the actual inauguration, I think:
After supporting him throughout his campaign, Beyonce will perform the National Anthem at President Barack Obama’s second inauguration. The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced Wednesday, Jan. 9 the three special musical guests who will take the stage at the 57th Presidential Inauguration.
Beyonce is set to sing the National Anthem, Kelly Clarkson will perform “My Country Tis of Thee” and James Taylor will sing “American the Beautiful.”
Obama’s inauguration will be held on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
“Vice President Biden and I are honored to have these wonderfully talented musical artists perform at the Inaugural ceremony,” Obama, 51, said in a statement. “Their music is often at the heart of the American story and speaks to folks across the country.”
Beyonce, 31, and Taylor, 64, both had the honor of performing at Obama’s first inauguration in 2009. Jay-Z’s wife also performed a cover of Etta James’ “At Last” for Obama’s first dance with First Lady Michelle Obama during the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball.
[From Us Weekly]
I?m kind of fine with that list. James Taylor is a national treasure, and Beyonce will do the National Anthem justice. Kelly Clarkson was a bit of a ?WTF?? moment, but then I realized that the president?s daughters are probably fans, and Kelly is probably seen as a ?good pop star? in the Obama household. Huh? I wonder if Jay-Z gets invited to sit with the inaugural party because his wife is performing?
Last thing ? Jay-Z posted this photo of Blue Ivy while the family was on vacation. He posted it with the message: “Last day of vacation, playing UNO.”

Finishing up their last minute holiday shopping, Beyonce and Jay Z made a trip to Bergdorf Goodman and Mary Arnold Toys in New York City on Monday (December 24).
The Grammy Award-winning songstress looked effortlessly chic in black tights, a multi-pattern outfit and grey jacket while her rapper hubby followed close behind in a fashion statement of his own.
In other news, although Christmas is on the minds of this power couple, Beyonce has recently stepped forward to voice her opinion on something else that has been on the forefront.
As previously reported by GossipCenter, the 31 year-old songstress joined other fellow celebrities to take part in a PSA for gun violence prevention.

| Beyonce scores a $50 million Pepsi endorsement deal: ridiculous or smart? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

In the history of endorsement deals, this is one of the biggest. Beyonce and Pepsi have just inked a deal that will see Pepsi paying Beyonce $50 million for the honor of being associated with her. The New York Times has an epic story about the endorsement deal, but don?t come out of it thinking that this is just a straight-up endorsement thing ? Pepsi and Beyonce are going to be synonymous by the end of 2013, I think.
FOR its campaign with Beyonc next year, Pepsi doesn?t just want to sign up the telegenic pop star for another TV commercial. It also wants to get into the Beyonc business. In an expansion of the recent marketing experiments that have brought PepsiCo ever closer to the music industry, the company has embarked on a hybrid project with Beyonc that will include standard advertising like commercials as well as a multimillion-dollar fund to support the singer?s chosen creative projects.
?Pepsi embraces creativity and understands that artists evolve,? Beyonc said in a statement. ?As a businesswoman, this allows me to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing my creativity.?
The campaign will coincide with a blitz of promotion for her next album, which has no title or release date so far but is expected in 2013. Sometime after she performs at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 3 (also sponsored by Pepsi), Beyonc will appear in a new TV ad ? her fifth for the soft drink since 2002 ? and her face will be on a limited-edition line of soda cans.
The less conventional aspects of the deal are meant as collaborative projects that indulge Beyonc?s creative whims, and might well have no explicit connection to Pepsi products. They are still at the brainstorm stage, but could include live events, videos, ?a cool photo shoot? or almost anything else, said Lee Anne Callahan-Longo, the general manager of Parkwood Entertainment, Beyonc?s company.
[From The New York Times]
The NYT piece goes on to talk about synergy and vertical integration, only those words have been replaced by other terms like a ?transactional deal to a mutually beneficial collaboration? and ?massive disruptions in music industry? as an opportunity for Pepsi.? I mean? sure. I?m no longer concerned about what artists are ?selling out? and what artists are ?keeping it real.? The only time I think about that is when artists try to push an image of themselves as super-authentic and non-corporate when in reality they are the biggest shill and sell-out ever. Beyonce is walking a fine line, but this doesn?t annoy me as much as I?m sure it will annoy others. Bey has always done endorsements, and it?s fine. It doesn?t affect her ?creativity?. It only affects her fat bank accounts.

Treating themselves to a swanky evening out, Beyonc Knowles and Jay-Z showed up at the SoHo Beach Club in Miami, Florida last night (December 9).
The ?Empire State of Mind? rapper and his lovely lady were joined by Knowles? former Destiny?s Child partner Kelly Rowland as well as The Dream and Paris Hilton for their delicious dinner.
As previously reported by the GossipCenter, Beyonce recently signed a $50 million endorsement deal with Pepsi.
Knowles explained, "Pepsi embraces creativity and understands that artists evolve. As a businesswoman, this allows me to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing my creativity."
"[The deal is] a hybrid project with Beyonc that will include standard advertising like commercials as well as a multimillion-dollar fund to support the singer's chosen creative projects," shared an insider.

| Beyonce & Jay-Z 'date night' outfits involve sweats & leather: surprisingly normal' | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

These are some new photos of Beyonce and Jay-Z having a ?date night? on Saturday in New York. According to Fame/Flynet, they had a ?romantic, sunset dinner in Battery Park.? As you can see, it doesn?t seem like Bey and Jay really dressed up for their dinner date whatsoever. I?m sorry, but Jay?s ?date night? turquoise hoodie looks really, really cheap. And Beyonce just looks dated in those high-tops and unflattering leather pants. You know my first thought when I saw Beyonce?s leather pants? ?Huh, I wonder if she borrowed them from Kim Kardashian.? Still, maybe THIS is when you know that you?ve married your true love ? when a romantic date night involves your husband wearing a turquoise sweat-hoodie and you don?t care about how out of date you look. And seriously, I wish Bey would stop trying to make those glasses happen. They do not suit her at all, and she?s been wearing them for most of the year. Somebody needs to take them away from her and break them.
In other Bey and Jay news, during a recent radio interview with Cleveland’s z107.9, Pres. Obama was asked about his friendship with the Bey and Jay. By the way ? because I know some of you will be like ?I hate Obama because he gave a radio interview about Beyonce, NOBAMA,? let me just point out that the interview was wide-ranging, it was about politics and the economy and all of the presidential stuff, and Obama took a few pop culture questions as well. Anyway, Obama said he gave Jay parenting advice like, “I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out [with the baby]. And not leaving it all with mom and the mother-in-law.” Obama also said that he has ?gotten to know these guys over the first several years. They?re good people. They’re down to earth. Beyonce could not be sweeter to Michelle and the girls. So they?re good friends. They really are down-to-earth folks. We talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends.” Huh. Pres. Obama thinks Beyonce and Jay are ?down to earth?? That makes me question EVERYTHING.

Here are some more photos of Beyonce and Jay-Z?s magical yacht vacation. There were in the South of France and then they were in St. Bart?s and now?? I don?t even know. I kind of like that Bey and Jay are yacht people. I know it?s all about luxury and general Goopiness with them, but I still think it?s kind of cool that we have some American celebrities who are committed to the yachting lifestyle. Don?t ask me to explain it ? I don?t really know. Blue Ivy is with them, of course, and paparazzi continue to get grainy photos of Blue chilling out with her parents on the yacht. I can?t even imagine that lifestyle, and how living like that would affect someone if that?s what you?re given from birth.
Meanwhile, there were even more rumors last week that Beyonce and Kim Kardashian were Mean Girl-ing each other while their respective mates were performing together last weekend, and that Bey was mad at Kim for trying to steal Jay-Z?s spotlight. But for whatever reason, Us Weekly got a tip that the opposite is true: that Beyonce and Kim really like each other:
No need to ring the alarm: Beyonce and Kim Kardashian are getting along just fine, thanks.
A new report on Radar Online claims that the singer and reality star, both 31, clashed at the Budweiser Made in America festival in Philadelphia last weekend — with Jay-Z’s wife angrily confronting Kanye West’s girlfriend for hogging the cameras of a documentary film crew.
(Director Ron Howard is making a film about rapper and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, 42.)
“That report is absurd,” a source close to Beyonce tells Us Weekly. Indeed, the “I Was Here” singer “loves Kim,” and “there’s absolutely no beef.”
What really went down at the concert? “When Beyonce saw Kim at the concert, she ran over and gave her the biggest hug,” the source explains, adding that Blue Ivy’s mom eventually joined Kardashian in the dressing room after watching her husband of four years perform.
The twosome have been photographed together at numerous “Watch the Throne” concerts featuring Jay-Z and West, 35.
Following the Philadelphia concert, Beyonce, Jay-Z and daughter Blue, 9 months, jetted to the South of France — where they celebrated the Grammy-winner’s 31st birthday (Sept. 4) on a yacht.
[From Us Weekly]
Very interesting. I still choose to believe that this situation isn?t what people are claiming, good or bad. I don?t think Beyonce feels that strongly about Kim either way ? they aren?t BFFs who are super-close, but Beyonce isn?t pulling rank and acting bitchy towards Kim either. I think their respective fanbases and haters have much stronger feelings about this situation than either woman has for each other. Truly.

| Beyonce's fall ad campaign for the House of Dereon: busted or beautiful' | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I really feel like The House of Dereon is the bte noire of the Beyonce-Jay-Z Empire. Everything that Jay and Bey touch must turn to gold, and to their credit, almost everything they produce feels labored over and special. The one exception to their whole vibe of ?luxury, elitism, special-ness? is The House of Dereon. Because it looks like what it is ? WalMart crap. Cheap designs, made inexpensively and sold to the Bey-stans at a huge mark-up. The House of Dereon was started as a pet project between Beyonce and her mother Tina. Personally, I think Tina should get most of the blame ? I feel like we?re seeing her tacky fingerprints all over this mess, more so than Beyonce. Bey can be kind of tacky too (at least, her style can be kind of tacky).
Anyway, these are some shots from the latest House of Dereon fall ad campaign, starring Beyonce of course. The styling, the way these ads are shot? it?s not completely awful. At least they look professional and somewhat luxurious, which is definitely an improvement from past Dereon ad campaigns. As for the clothes? well, this is how Beyonce has been dressing ever since she gave birth (cough). Like, she just jacked Zoe Kravtiz?s 2011 style and slapped a ?Dereon? label on it. I?m so sick of those hats and those sunglasses!!
I would love to know how much money this Dereon crap brings into the Beyonce Empire. I can?t imagine that it?s seen as a respectable, quality label.

She's always been one to help those in need as best as she's able, and Beyonce Knowles has once again made a hefty donation to a cause in which she believes.
The 30-year-old new mom and songwriter Diane Warren teamed up in deciding to donate the song "I Was Here" to World Humanitarian Day.
Having launched a campaign website on Thursday (August 2), Beyonce also revealed plans to shoot a video for the track on August 19th in front of a live crowd at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York City.
In a video tied to her World Humanitarian Day efforts, Miss Knowles is heard saying, "We all see the headlines and we think what can I really do to help?"
"World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity for all of us to work together to make a difference," she added. "This is our time to leave our mark on the world and show that we were here and we care."
