Last night was the big gala premiere for Black Swan in New York. I know it seems like there has already been a ton of ?premieres? for this particular film, but I think a lot of them were screenings and film festival premieres and such. But last night was a big deal - all of the cast were assembled, and Natalie Portman had her pose-hard bitchface at the ready. Here?s a question, for all of us out here in the cheap seats: Why is Natalie looking so crabby and bitchy during this film?s promotion? She?s considered one of the leading candidates for the Best Actress Oscar, and she will likely be the centerpiece of a larger Black Swan Oscar push. Why look so ?over it? and nasty? Anyway, Natalie and her bitchface were in Dior, a cosponsor for the premiere. One thing I?ll give her - the bitch can wear the hell out of some red lipstick. Right?
Meanwhile, I guess Mila Kunis got a memo that only the ?star? of the film could wear Dior, because she donned a lovely cream Elie Saab. I really like this dress - in fact, I?m pretty much in love with Mila?s whole wardrobe throughout the Black Swan promotional tour. Where Natalie looks surly, uncomfortable and at times occasion-inappropriate, Mila has been nailing every look and every occasion.
And of course, my Vincent Cassel. His face is just so beautiful (to me).
Winona Ryder in all-black. I?m surprised she didn?t go with another strapless, tutu-esque gown. I give her points for wearing a suit. But she?s giving me a really hardcore goth flashback from my youth.

Spending the evening on the red carpet, Natalie Portman was front and center at the New York premiere of "Black Swan" on Tuesday (November 30).
Held at Ziegfeld Theatre, the lovely actress was clad in a stylish black gown while joined by co-stars Mila Kunis and Winona Ryder.
For the movie, Natalie recently spoke about undergoing extreme ballet, cross-training and swimming a year before shooting began, as she told Us magazine, "I think it was just the physicality of it all that was the most extreme. I mean, I had never gotten that much training - to be doing five-to-eight hours a day of [it] was really a challenge."
"I think the most important thing is coming to work as prepared as you can be every day and working as hard as you can every day," she added. "If you do that, you can always ensure that you have an amazing experience."
"Black Swan" makes its way into theaters this Friday, December 3rd.

Any good actor will do what it takes for the role they?ve landed, and Natalie Portman recently opened up about her weight loss for her new film ?Black Swan.?
According to Us Magazine, the petite actress underwent extreme ballet, cross-training and swimming a year before shooting began.
Of losing 20 lbs, the ?Garden State? gal told the mag, "I think it was just the physicality of it all that was the most extreme. I mean, I had never gotten that much training - to be doing five-to-eight hours a day of [it] was really a challenge."
"I think the most important thing is coming to work as prepared as you can be every day and working as hard as you can every day," she added. "If you do that, you can always ensure that you have an amazing experience."

Enjoying the brisk weather, Natalie Portman was spotted paying a visit to ?Good Morning America? in New York City today (November 29).
The ?Garden State? gal looked warm in a black coat with black trousers and black flats as she made her exit from the Times Square studio.
Natalie is out to promote her new movie ?Black Swan? directed by Darren Aronofsky and also starring Mila Kunis.
During her interview with David Letterman last week, Natalie explained that the project was so low-budget that they couldn?t afford an on-set medic.
?I don?t even think that?s legal!? she exclaimed. ?Before you take awa a medic, take away my trailer!?

Natalie Portman is a toe-shoe-in for an Oscar nomination for her performance as a ballerina in Black Swan, and she worked her ass off for it. Or rather she worked her ass bigger.
Working out eight hours at a time. Swimming a mile a day. Dancing despite bruised feet, aching muscles, and a displaced rib. Natalie Portman didn’t take the easy road in preparing to play ambitious ballerina Nina Sayers in Black Swan. But the 29-year-old actress says there was no other option. “So many of the emotional scenes happen while she’s dancing that there was no real way of getting around it,” explains Portman, whose character suffers a mind-bending nervous breakdown while rehearsing to dance the lead in a glitzy production of Swan Lake.

Although Portman did use a double for some of the more complicated choreography, she still had to look the part of a ballerina.
Portman says that not eating — or, rather, eating very little — is an essential part of a dancer’s lifestyle. “I’m a very short person, and you’re supposed to look very long,” she explains. “And you don’t have the bulk on you — which is, like, sick. The whole thing, I’m aware that it’s sick.”
…For the record, not all of Portman got smaller while training. “Dancers, even when they’re really frailly skinny, have a very strong butt. So Mary Helen [former New York City Ballet company member Mary Helen Bowers] did a lot of work on my butt,” she giggles. The result? “Definitely a huge, huge, um…change.”

Playing the part also dispelled any illusions Natalie had about the glamour of being a ballerina.
“[Being a dancer] was a childhood dream. Then when I got to try it, it kind of erased the illusion that ballet is this easy, beautiful, light thing. It’s quite the opposite. It takes discipline and hard work and pain….It’s more competitive [than Hollywood]. It’s smaller, so there are even fewer spots to fill. And it takes physical perfection.”

Off screen, Portman is quietly dating choreographer Benjamin Millepied, 33, who can currently be seen in print ads for Gap.
Director Darren Aronofsky, who may also get an Oscar nod, recently lost his partner Rachel Weisz to James Bond actor Daniel Craig.
I doubt I’ll see this film; it’s not my cup of tea, but (Star Wars notwithstanding) I think Natalie is a good actress and seems relatively grounded for a child-actor-turned-movie-star. Plus she’s vegetarian and launched a line of vegan shoes, which is cool.
Black Swan opens December 3.

Continuing along with promotional duties, Natalie Portman was spotted outside the Ed Sullivan Theater ahead of her appearance on ?The Late Show with David Letterman? on Monday (November 22).
The ?Garden State? gal looked lovely per the usual as she posed for pictures for her many fans that had gathered outside in order to catch a glimpse of the beautiful actress.
Ms Portman is currently promoting her latest flick ?Black Swan,? which has been released at select film festivals in the US, but officially hits theaters on December 3rd.
The film is a thriller that zeroes in on the relationship between a veteran ballet dancer and a rival and aside from Natalie, features the beautiful Mila Kunis and Winona Ryder.

Is anyone else starting to feel like the plague of wedding dress styles is upon us? Perfectly normal celebrities, who are completely unengaged, are going out of their way to wear some very wedding-y styles. Anne Hathaway has been doing a ton of white lately, like her Valentino a few days ago. And now Natalie Portman, for her appearance with Jake Gyllenhaal at a charity event. Maybe it?s Jake? Maybe whenever women are around him, they wear white in the hopes that he?ll marry them? Or it could just be an odd seasonal trend. Maybe I?m old-fashioned (surprisingly true story), but I don?t care for white dresses in the Fall. I think it?s fine for Spring and Summer, and maybe for formal evening events in the winter, like a white ball gown (even though those usually look too bride-y for my taste too).
So, yeah? I don?t care for Natalie?s Dior dress. I just praised her for wearing jewel tones, and now she?s pulling a Hathaway. Damn it, Natalie! The event was for FINCA, of which Natalie is a goodwill ambassador (here for FINCA?s website). They provide micro-loans all around the world, and they do a lot of work specifically with female entrepreneurs in developing countries. Jake was there, as was my new favorite girl, Florence Welch, from Florence and the Machine (GINGER!). Don?t bother with trying to make Natalie and Jake a couple either. Their body language says ?off limits? to me - like both of them with they were boning ballet dancers.

Tending to her FINCA Ambasador of Hope duties, Natalie Portman was front and center at the FINCA 25th Anniversary gala event in New York City on Thursday night (November 18).
Held at Capitale Bowery, the lovely actress donned a cute white frock while posing alongside fellow guests Jake Gyllenhaal and Florence Welch, as well as designer Jason Wu.
As for the night's cause, FINCA's mission statement tells that the organization "works to provide financial services to low income entrepreneurs worldwide so that they can create jobs for others and improve their living."
The public outing comes as Natalie gears up for the December 3rd release of her new movie "Black Swan" while Gyllenhaal is readying for the November 24th release of his romantic comedy "Love and Other Drugs".

And somewhere along the way, Natalie ends up stripping down to a thong, giving men all over the world enough reason to buy a ticket when ?Your Highness? hits theaters on April 8th, 2011.
