These are some photos of Mary-Kate Olsen attending the Louis Vuitton show as part of Paris fashion week. I talked about the 27-year-old’s surprise engagement to 44-year-old Olivier Sarkozy over the weekend. Most of you agreed that this couple isn’t that strange at all because both parties are monied, and neither seemed to be using the other. Some of you mentioned that MK looks younger than her age while Olivier does (regretfully) look older than 44. I can see that, but I still think this is a good match.
Mary-Kate’s been flashing her new ring for the paps. We don’t have the photos, but you can see the ring here. MK must like the design, but it is a bit gaudy, no? Some people like gaudy. This week’s issue of Us Weekly says Olivier has been begging Mary-Kate to marry him for a year, and she finally said yes. Now she wants to get pregnant really fast. Hmm:
She took her time! Mark-Kate Olsen made sure fiance Olivier Sarkozy was the one before saying “yes” to an engagement. An insider reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly that Sarkozy first proposed months ago, but the fashion designer turned him down at the time.
“He tried about a year ago, and she wasn’t ready,” an insider tells Us in the March 17 issue’s Hot Stuff. “She didn’t need to be wined and dined. She wanted to make sure he would be good to her.”
Olsen, 27, and the French banker, 44, first went public with their relationship in 2012, and are also “talking about trying to get pregnant,” the source says.
Us exclusively broke news on Feb. 28 that Olsen and her older beau are engaged. “Mary-Kate’s family thinks Olivier is the best thing to happen to her,” an insider told Us of the former Full House star. “They love him.”
Olsen won’t have a hard time adjusting to motherhood, either. She’s already close to Sarkozy’s two children Julien, 12, and Margo, 10, from his previous marriage to Charlotte Bernard.
“Mary-Kate has made him a better father. She remembers all the kids’ special events,” a source added to Us. “She thinks he’s a great dad.”
Olsen has yet to confirm the engagement news herself, but has already shown off her new rock. The actress stepped out wearing her huge gold engagement ring in NYC on March 3.

This sounds like a done deal if Mary-Kate’s family adores him too. She dated some real doozies in the past, and I’m glad she’s no longer taking Paris Hilton’s castoffs. Plus — if these two are going to have children, they might as well start soon. Olivier’s not getting any younger. Just the other day, I finally broke it to my daughter that (since momma is now 39) she wouldn’t ever be getting the little sister she’s always wanted. She nodded and then said, “Yeah, because it wouldn’t go to college until you were 60.” Thanks, kid.

She?s been thoroughly enjoying her time at Paris Fashion Week, and Mary-Kate Olsen wasn?t shy about showing off her engagement ring on Wednesday (March 5).
The ?Full House? starlet showed up at the Louis Vuitton runway presentation and attracted all kinds of attention thanks to the left-hand sparkler given to her by French banker Olivier Sarkozy, who is 17 years her senior.
Mary-Kate and Olivier are rumored to have gotten engaged while vacationing in the Caribbean last month, though neither of them have confirmed the betrothal.
Olsen lives with Sarkozy in a $6.25 million townhouse in Manhattan?s Lower East Side. They?ve been dating since May 2012.

Mary-Kate Olsen is only 27 year old but has led a very strange life so far. We all know how she and Ashley spent their childhood and teen years. Mary-Kate went off the rails a bit in young adulthood. She dropped out of NYU, started taking up with Greek shipping heirs (who also dated Paris Hilton), and went to rehab for an eating disorder. After all of that drama, Mary-Kate and Ashley built a respectable career in fashion. Even though The Row is crazy expensive, it’s also crazy successful. I’ve already praised them for creating all of their clothes domestically. The twins do not use sweatshop labor, and that’s a big step for fashion.
Anyway, Mary-Kate hooked up with Olivier Sarkozy (the half-brother of Nicolas) in early 2012. She was 26, and he was 43 at the time. His ex-wife immediately labeled the romance “grotesque,” which is understandable. Not only is MK 17 years younger than her boyfriend, but she still looks like a 17-year-old girl. She probably always will look much younger than her true age. MK and Olivier moved in together in late 2012, and she was seen shopping solo for engagement rings late last year. Now the weird couple has announced their engagement:
Think Ashley will be maid-of-honor? Mary-Kate Olsen is engaged to marry her boyfriend of nearly two years, French banker Olivier Sarkozy, sources confirm exclusively to Us Weekly.
Olsen, 27, and Sarkozy, 44 — half-brother of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy — first stepped out together in 2012. Since then, they’ve been a frequent presence at basketball games in New York City, where they live together in a $6.25 million townhouse.
This will be the former Full House star’s first marriage, and Sarkozy’s second. He was previously wed to Charlotte Bernard, with whom he has two kids, Julien, 12, and Margo, 10.
“Mary-Kate has made him a better father. She remembers all the kids’ special events,” a source previously told Us of the husband and wife-to-be. “She thinks he’s a great dad.”
Her loved ones have a pretty high opinion of him, too. “Mary-Kate’s family thinks Olivier is the best thing to happen to her,” an insider tells Us. “They love him.”
Incidentally, the fashion designer’s twin sister, Ashley, is also dating an older man. Following her split from David Schulte, she has been spending time with Moneyball director Bennett Miller, who is 20 years her senior.

I thought I’d have a problem with this, but surprisingly, I’m okay with it. This isn’t a situation of a wide-eyed starlet hooking up with some older dude for his money. It’s also not a situation of some guy getting with Mary-Kate because she’s so rich herself. Both MK and Olivier have their own money (he’s a successful banker), and he is the one who paid for their $6.25 million love nest. They are a low-key couple, and we haven’t heard any drama at all from them.

Kicking off her busy day, Mary-Kate Olsen exited her New York City apartment on Friday morning (December 13).
The ?Full House? starlet wore a ring on her left-hand ring finger as she headed off to an office building, fueling the rumors that she?s engaged to boyfriend Olivier Sarkozy.
Olsen (27) and Sarkozy (44) began dating back in May of 2012 and an inside source told press that Mary-Kate is eyeing motherhood as she approaches 30.
The snitch said, ?She'd like to get pregnant but isn't so sure about marriage,? adding that Olivier?s two kids like having Olsen around. ?Mary-Kate has made him a better father. She remembers all the kids' special events. She thinks he's a great dad.?

Do you realize that Mary-Kate Olsen is only 27 years old? For some reason, I thought the twins had already passed 30. God, they?ve lived a lot of life in 27 years. Maybe that?s why they seem so much older. That and they dress like old ladies. Anyway, MK is 27, as I said. Her lover, Olivier Sarkozy, is 44. A 17 year age difference? It?s notable and interesting and yes, I doubt it will last. But she?s an old soul and she?s old enough to know what she?s doing so I don?t have as much shade for it as I do with some couples. Plus, as I said, I still don?t think it?s going to last long-term. But according to Page Six, MK and Olivier might be engaged to be engaged. Or maybe MK just likes to shop for jewelry.
Mary-Kate Olsen could have marriage on her mind. Spies tell us Olsen, 27, who?s been dating 44-year-old Olivier Sarkozy for more than a year, was spotted shopping for an engagement ring in Los Angeles recently.
The actress-turned-fashion designer was at the Neil Lane boutique in mid-November, and sources tell us she has since made several trips to the store to check out the pricey wares.
A source tells us: ?Mary-Kate has been seen several times in the last three weeks checking out huge engagement rings at the Neil Lane store. She really likes cushion-cut diamonds, and all of the rings she has looked at are over 5 carats,? says our source. ?She has narrowed it down, but still hasn?t made a final decision.?
Another source told us Olsen looked at platinum-setting rings and paid no mind to a budget for the bauble, and looked at rings that were priced over $100,000. ?I don?t think price was an issue,? the spy said.
We?re told Olsen has been shopping on her own, and Sarkozy was not with her at any of her visits to the jeweler.
Page Six broke the news in May 2012 that Olsen was dating Sarkozy, the half-brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and a managing director at Carlyle Group in New York.
Sources told us at the time that the two were ?head over heels? in love.
Since then, they?ve been photographed hand-in-hand in the Hamptons and nuzzling in the stands at Knicks games. Olivier was married to Charlotte Bernard until the couple divorced in 2011. They have two children together. He then dated Stella Schnabel, daughter of artist Julian Schnabel, for more than a year, before splitting with her and moving on to Olsen.
Mary-Kate dated artist Nate Lowman before getting together with Sarkozy. A rep for Olsen had no comment. A rep for Neil Lane didn?t get back to us.

I love cushion-cut gemstones, especially with diamond surrounds. When CB came down to see 12 Years a Slave with me, we went browsing in a jewelry store and I kept pointing out all of the cushion-cut rings I liked. CB was like, ?I get it.? While I do think this story is suspicious, I guess there could be a completely innocent explanation. Not every diamond ring has to be an engagement ring. Maybe she?s just buying something pretty for herself. Or maybe Olivier was like, ?Darling, you have impeccable taste, go look through Neil Lane and tell me what to buy.? Some women have strong feelings for or against that kind of thing though ? some feel that the engagement should be a surprise, a test to see if your man really knows your style. Some feel that if you?re going to be wearing the ring for the rest of your life, you better have a say in what in looks like. And if money is no object, why not? If I had Olsen money, I would have 100 diamond rings.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen both compete for our attention with separate Allure covers for the December issue. I’ve always had a soft spot for these girls. Ashley has always seemed like the more grounded twin, and MK was the wild one but has settled down from her partying days. Maybe there’s something good about the “grotesque” romance between 27-year-old MK and 42-year-old Olivier Sarkozy. Mary-Kate went through a few years where she dropped out of college and dated the same Greek shipping heirs as Paris Hilton. In comparison, a Sarkozy seems like a good idea.
These Allure covers aren’t the most flattering photos of the girls at all. Mary Kate seems like she’s about to drop off for a long winter’s nap. Ashley fares better. The twins are talking about their fashion lines of course. They are sometimes accused of ripping off other lines, and they sell ridiculous $55k purses. I do like the look of The Row even if I’d never pay that much money for clothes. Sorry Olsens. Here are some excerpts:
Ashley on their twin bond: “[Our connection is] beyond words. We both carry the weight of each other.”
MK on not having it all: “I think people looked at us with the perception of, ‘Oh, you just have everything. You can do whatever.’ Strangers assumed we had enough money to just do nothing, or why would we go to college? And it’s such an uneducated perspective! You still have to grow within business. You have to take a chance.”
Ashley chimes in: “It’s not like you wake up one day and have a huge company with four or five different companies within the companies, not to mention our past and future.”
Ashley on acting: “I was reading scripts, and ultimately I just said to the people who were representing me, ‘I need to do things 100 percent. I don’t feel like I can give you 100 percent of my time …’ There’s a lot of compromise in the entertainment industry. I can’t sit in this room and audition for this part.”

Do you buy what the twins are selling here? I’m not sure why they care what people say about how they succeeded in fashion. I think even if one discounts their massive startup capital, it’s impossible to deny how name recognition got their designs noticed in the first place. I do respect that they work like crazy when they don’t have to. The twins were obscenely rich when they turned 18, and I remember reading an article that illustrated the fact by stating they could each afford to buy a Range Rover every day of their lives. At least they work hard, and they make all their stuff in the United States. No sweatshops for the Olsens. Good on them.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen cover the November issue of Net-A-Porter’s The Edit magazine. To be perfectly honest, I almost didn’t recognize them at first glance on this cover. They look different than usual here, right? It could be Photoshop. The twins don’t get papped a lot these days, so it could also be that we just don’t see them very often. MK and Ashley have become virtual recluses in comparison to about five years ago. We occasionally see Mary-Kate with her much older boyfriend, Oliver Sarkozy, but otherwise, these girls are like vapor trails.
These twins are heavily focused on work. They are very serious and hands-on with their fashion lines. I very much appreciate their dedication to making their line domestically instead of offloading their workforce to foreign sweatshops. Mary-Kate and Ashley give some details about their work process:
The clothing obsession started early: “[On Full House] we would be in six-hour fittings three times a week, because we had to wear 12 different outfits,” Ashley said. “We were designing clothes for ourselves as we were so petite. So I think that is when we became obsessed with it, and now the obsession has become a profession,” Mary-Kate added.
Ashley on fame: “We were nine months old when we started, so fame has always been part of our lives. There wasn’t any weirdness where we decided that we wanted to be famous. Then as we got older, we were very fortunate that we could hire and work with amazing people who want to protect us.”
Mary-Kate on the paparazzi: “There is a threshold in New York, and once you pass that and are considered a New Yorker, they leave you alone. But we’re at the office every day, then home or out for dinner, so there aren’t the opportunities for them to take pictures. For the most part you try and avoid it… [I do], at least.”
Ashley on The Row: “We saw a space in the market. We knew there wasn’t another brand offering basics in a luxurious and contemporary way. If I wear certain designer brands, or too much of something, I look crazy, and I need something to break it up. If you are wearing a Chanel jacket and you need an anonymous piece that will show just how special that jacket is, I hope that is what The Row gives you.”
Mary Kate on the future: “We’re really focused on The Row at the moment.”

They sound so intelligent and sure of themselves in this interview. I’m so glad the twins found their way in life instead of falling into the classic child star trap of too much money, too much free time, and too much trouble. They don’t have to work at all, but they love making clothing. They might look a little spooky in this photoshoot, but their passion for fashion is always obvious.
