I know the rest of the blogging world’s been in love with Anna Kendrick for years now, but I’ve gotta admit I was a little late to the party. I mean, unless you schedule regular weekly beach dates with the paparazzi, it’s easy for some hotties to fall through the cracks. But here’s Anna reminding […]

Stepping out for some promotional duties, Anna Kendrick showed up at the ArcLight Hollywood Cinemas on Wednesday night (February 11).
The ?Pitch Perfect? starlet was joined by costar Jeremy Jordan as she posed for photos ahead of the big premiere of their new movie ?The Last Five Years.?
Meanwhile, Anna told Elle DeGeneres that she was a little concerned about flashing the cameras at the Grammys last weekend given her low-cut pantsuit. ?I thought I had it all figured out with the pantsuit there. I was never going to wear a dress again, I was loving it. And then I had to sit very, very straight. I had a little tape, but I was still nervous about it. By the time I got home my back was killing me. It's just tape. You didn't staple it.?

She?s one of the most lovable actresses in Tinseltown and Anna Kendrick is gearing up for a special performance at the 87th Academy Awards on February 22nd.
Executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron released a statement this week, noting, ?Out of the woods and on to the Oscar stage, Anna will be performing something special that is sure to be an ?Only on the Oscars? moment.?
Kendrick is no stranger to live stage performances, as she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for ?High Society? when she was twelve years old. Since then she scored an Oscar nod in 2009 for ?up in the Air,? and her film credits include ?Pitch Perfect,? ?Into the Woods,? and the ?Twilight Saga? franchise.

Anna Kendrick covers the February issue of Nylon. It?s a bad shoot, right? Well, not bad so much as dated. Some of the photos are straight out of the ?90s, some are early ?00s. I don?t get why this stuff is making a comeback. Don?t get me wrong, the ?90s were awesome, but style-wise, I?m glad we?ve grown as a society. As for Anna?s interview? as I?ve been saying, she?s grown on me a lot over the past year. I actually buy her ?I was a nerdy theater geek kid? routine. She genuinely seems like the grown-up version of the nerdy musical-theater girl. Lea Michele has a similar vibe, but Lea doesn?t seem to have matured past that high school mentality whatsoever. Anyway, here are some highlights from Nylon:
She ?doesn?t give a f?k? about her tweets: “Twitter is only 140 characters. There’s really not that much I could reveal, then regret later. Of course, me being me, the tweets I want to take back are the ones that I think could’ve been punchier or more concise.?
Tweeting about her Ryan Gosling crush: “Thank God I’ve never been in a room with him! I don’t feel embarrassed, though. I’m sure he has a sense of humor. But I’d probably feel like I’d have to address [the tweet], and I’d end up saying something to make it much, much worse.”
She never got attention from the boys: “The great torture from my teen years into my mid-20s was trying to get attention from guys who were not interested in me?like, at all. So I’m happy that now my type is a nice guy who likes me back.”
A late bloomer: “I was a very late bloomer. I was the smallest in my class, always telling myself, ‘I’m never getting boobs!’ I remember being comforted by hearing that guys like small boobs and big boobs. They like any boobs!’ At the time I was like, ‘That is excellent news!’”
She prefers people with a little self-doubt: ?I hope I don?t ever get the feeling that I?m the cool girl. I think self-doubt is healthy. It pushes you, and humbles you, and I would really hate to be one of the three people in the f–king universe who are actually well-rounded, because then you can?t relate to anybody else?s inner s–t. Sometimes I meet people who are too confident. I?m like, ?I don?t even like being around you. You?re boring. Get a neurosis, and then we?ll talk.??
[From E! News]
That self-doubt part seemed very Woody Allen to me. I mean, it sounded like dialogue from a Woody Allen movie. I?m pretty sure Woody has written a line similar to that before: never trust a person without neuroses. That kind of mindset isn?t really my cup of tea though ? I don?t trust people who wear their neuroses on their sleeve. Keep it bottled up, like the rest of us emotionally stunted robots.
Also ? there was a rumor that Anna was secretly dating her Into the Woods costar Chris Pine. That rumor was denied though. I don?t think she?s his type, and he seems like too much of a bad-boy for her.

Treating herself to a smashing good time, Anna Kendrick
headed over to the Beverly Hilton Hotel to catch all the action at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards tonight (January 11).
Always a fan favorite, the ?Into the Woods? star looked lovely in her designer ensemble while mingling with fellow famous folks in the arrivals area.
Once again, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are tag-teaming the hosting duties, following outstanding reviews over the past two years. And this time around the Cecil B. DeMille award will go to George Clooney. HFPA President Theo Kingma explained, ?It didn?t take us long to pick him. He is someone who?s made big contributions to both film and TV, and who is beloved by the industry. There is also the other George Clooney, a man who has used his platform to make us aware of places like Sudan. It?s an incredible combination.?

I used to be pretty ambivalent about Anna Kendrick ? in my mind, she wasn?t the worst and she wasn?t the best. She was talented, not a famewhore, but not really that interesting. But over the past year or so, she?s really grown on me. She?s smarter than the average starlet, she?s sassy and witty, and she?s right up there with Emma Stone as one of the ?great hopes? for this 20-something generation of actresses. Kendrick covers the February issue of Fashion Magazine (Canada) to promote Into the Woods, where she plays Cinderella to Chris Pine?s Prince Charming. In the interview, she talks about real-life Charmings, being the child of divorce, and how she views the red carpet hustle:
Anna on dating someone like Chris Pine?s Prince Charming: ?Oh no. Never. I?ve never really gone for the razzle-dazzle types, no quarterbacks, no flashy guys and no Prince Charmings. Chris Pine?s version of Prince Charming is so funny, and so on-point, and very much all style and no substance. A [date] once picked me up in a Mustang and he was leaning on the hood of it. He waiting for me and I was inside my apartment, looking out the window, thinking ?Oh, this is going to go terribly.? The wrong kind of guy to fall in love with is the guy who will let go of the steering wheel as a joke. A guy who finds it amusing to make you uncomfortable, which is more common that you?d think, is someone you want to avoid.?
Her parents? divorce: ?They taught me that staying together for the kids is the wrong approach. It perpetuates this warped idea of what a healthy relationship looks like.?
The best Valentine?s Day of her life: ?When I was in my early twenties, I was in L.A. and I had one of those big kind of ?Anti Valentine?s Day? dinners with all my single friends which is just a classic move. That went terribly wrong. We tried but none of us could cook?to make pasta with sauce?but it got all sticky and we just had to use like a fork to cut it up and like the chicken was so dry that people couldn?t eat. Cookies got burned too. We ended up ordering pizza and laughing about it.?
Her most awkward fan encounter: ?I had a guy come up to me in a bar and I was trying to play darts with my friends but he was trying to talk to me during the game. I was really nervous that I was going to like hit [him] in the face with a dart. I didn?t. It would be one hell of a headline.?
Her secret matchmaking skills: ?If it wasn?t for the weirdos, I?ve have no career. There were these two fans of mine that sent me this thing for my birthday?through my publicist. It was a letter about how they met on a fan forum and they like lived in different states but they met up and ? sort of weirdly got together. Two weirdos found each other because they liked what ever weirdo vibes I was giving off! That was so sweet, it almost made me cry. That said, I?m really grateful to all the weirdos out there but I think it?s better for my personal sanity not to read my own fan fiction.?
Her red carpet strategy: ?Recently I?ve decided that there?s no point in getting dressed up if I?m not having fun. I?ve looked at enough red carpets right now and realized that everyone might think that Taylor Schilling looked better than Lena Dunham at the Emmys? but I thought Lena rocked that red carpet more than anybody else. What the point in fashion if you?re not having a good time??
[From Fashion Magazine]
A few points ? Anna might be having a good time with her style, but no one is really paying attention to it. She barely makes an impact on red carpets. Maybe that?s a good thing ? she?s not a Fashion Girl. She?s actually a real, working actress. And I?m totally with her about avoiding guys who think it?s funny to make a girl feel uncomfortable. I wasted too much time on those d-bags when I was younger. The jerks, the mean guys, the emotionally cruel guys. Ugh. I?m also with her on what she learned from her parents? divorce ? right on, girl.

They?ve been busy with promotional duties as of late, and this morning (December 12) Anna Kendrick and James Corden showed up at the Corinthia Hotel in London, England.
The ?Pitch Perfect? starlet and the ?Begin Again? stud posed up a storm for the ?Into the Woods? photocall along with producer John DeLuca and director Rob Marshall.
Anna Kendrick Performs Cinderella?s Song from ?Into the Woods? in Sneak Peek Clip!
Kendrick previously told ?Good Morning America? that she had a blast starring in the forthcoming flick with Meryl Streep. ?It feels silly to say she?s great to work with because, of course. After the table read, everybody was just blown away, but no one wanted to be the first person to go, ?Meryl is so good.? It?s like, ?Oxygen is so great??

| Anna Kendrick on feminism: 'You just have to fight back and own that word' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Anna Kendrick has a big part in this year?s Into the Woods, the Rob Marshall-directed Broadway-to-film musical which seems like a big mess. Anna plays Cinderella. And she sings and dances and I think she gets romanced by a douchebag Prince Charming played by Chris Pine? Something like that. Anyway, to promote the film, Anna did a long Q&A session with The Daily Beast ? you can read the full piece here. Some of interview is just blah, Disney shilling and that kind of thing. But there are some interesting parts:
Whether her Cinderella has agency: ?To me, what?s interesting about this particular Cinderella story is that not only does she say, ?Getting a man isn?t everything and I choose something else,? but she?s also saying, ?Just because my lot in life improved a bit doesn?t mean I don?t deserve better.? She goes from being the lowest of the low in society to being a princess, and even though she knows people envy her situation, she chooses ?the unknown? over the ?security? of that situation. And that?s very brave?. there?s something to be said about women standing up for themselves. I know there are women who stay in relationships because they?re afraid of the devil they don?t know, and for somebody who comes from a home of abuse and neglect to marry a prince and then say, ?This is not good enough? I want something authentic? is very brave.
Hand-wringing over feminism: ?It?s hard because words confuse me sometimes. There isn?t a word for a member of an ethnic minority who is pro equal rights for all races, but there is a word for gender equality?and that?s feminism. It?s a very female-centric word. I understand that the implication is that ?I?m a woman who supports women? and not ?I?m a person who supports gender equality.? I feel like the word can be appropriated by the wrong people for that reason and misinterpreted by those people, but you just have to fight back and own that word. It?s practically become a curse word. Somebody says, ?Oh, you?re being such a feminist,? and you?re supposed to be like, ?No I?m not.? Why are we afraid of that word? It exists and we can?t get rid of it, so let?s fight for it and embrace it. That is truly a bummer.
Online misogyny: ?I do get crazy s–t. But I look at some of those girls who are involved in Gamergate and I think, ?I don?t know how they do it. I don?t know how they handle it.? When I?m feeling bad, I look up some of the girls involved in Gamergate and I think, ?You know, I feel very, very lucky and supported.?
Whether she would date a prince in real life: ?Absolutely. That?s my dream. Absolutely. A prince, or a professional athlete. I just worked with the Green Bay Packers, actually, so I?m gettin? into that world. I?m puttin? out feelers. Somebody just take care of me! I hate my job? somebody please just take care of me??
[From The Daily Beast]
Anna also talks about being hacked by The Fappening, but it?s clear she didn?t want to talk about it on the record, and she basically says, hey, a lot of people take those photos and victim-blaming doesn?t help anything. As for her comments on feminism? I think she explained it well. Just because you don?t agree with some people about what ?feminism? means to them, that?s no reason to toss out the word or the concept of gender equality or women?s rights or what have you.

I?m saying this with zero shade-attempt, but I?ve been looking at the December magazine covers, and I?m sort of surprised by how bland they are and how really weird cover subjects were chosen for what should be one of the bigger issues of the year. Like, Allison Williams is on the cover of Allure, and it?s utterly boring. And now Anna Kendrick covers the December issue of Marie Claire and I?m just not feeling it. Now, don?t get me wrong ? I like Anna. A lot. She?s super-talented and she?s got a big part in the anticipated musical Into the Woods. But there were ways to make a December cover with Anna Kendrick more appealing, and I?m not sure if Marie Claire followed through. This cover is extraordinarily underwhelming. Here are some highlights from her cover story:
On her role as Cinderella in Into the Woods: “The character is thoughtful and complicated. You see what happens after she marries the prince, when you start to face problems in seemingly perfect situations. The interesting thing about her is she overthinks things, she’s uncertain ? we don’t see that in most versions. In a lot of ways, I think it’s this incredibly brave story. She’s neglected and abused her entire life she finally gets love and it’s not the kind of love she was looking for, and she stands up for herself.”
On taking a short break: “The whole going-movie-to-movie-to-movie thing, I’ve been living that way for three years. Like I need to be a person and, you know, maintain relationships.”
On insta-fame following her 2010 Oscar nomination: “It was insane. Like really groovy and exciting. [But] there was a lot of ‘Why me?’?that sort of thing.”
On the celebrity hacking scandal this fall: “I’m so infuriated on behalf of those girls. And bummed out that people feel like that’s something they can do.”
On having her looks scrutinized: “The most common thing that I get is, ‘Am I the only one who doesn’t think that Anna Kendrick is pretty?’ And you’re like, ‘No, you’re not the only one. Arguably, all of the boys in my high school agree with you.’”
On ambition: “Mostly it’s the fear that the wolves are always at your heels and you’re going to be tossed out into the street. If you grow up middle class, you just always feel like you’ve got to be working, because otherwise you won’t be able to pay the rent.”
[From Marie Claire]
Did anyone else chuckle a little bit when she said ?If you grow up middle class, you just always feel like you’ve got to be working?? I guarantee that working class and working poor people feel the same way, it?s not just a middle class thing, Anna! But she wasn?t throwing shade, she was just talking about her work ethic, which in my opinion is different than talking about ambition. Or is it? Is her ambition simply to work, to work in diverse and challenging projects? I think it probably is ? she doesn?t want to be a Movie Star, she wants to do interesting stuff and be a hirable actress. Not the worst play.
Oh, and here’s the trailer for Into the Woods. I don’t know, you guys. This looks like a hot mess.
