She?s a master of quirky characters and Anna Kendrick has been tapped for a very special project as part of NBC?s upcoming Red Nose Day.
The ?Pitch Perfect 2? starlet will channel the spirit of Indiana Jones in her own version of the role, under the moniker ?Indie Anna Jones,? as she searches for the Holy Grail.
In a preview clip ahead of the May 21st event, Anna picks up a goblet as a knight exclaims, ?Such a plain cup for such a pretty lady.? Kendrick fires back, ?Man, I?m a respected professor of archaeology. Times have changed! I have degrees! Have you been to college?!? The knight replies, ?No, just knight school.? Red Nose Day will also include Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Will Ferrell, Gwyneth Paltrow and Christina Aguliera!

Here are some photos from Friday night?s LA premiere of Pitch Perfect 2. It comes out on Friday! I?m actually looking forward to it. I?m probably going to see it in the theater because I want to support Elizabeth Banks as a director/producer. Plus, the first one was a great story about girls. I?m actually a little bit weirded out by the fact that they did a HUGE premiere on a Friday night in LA. Usually, they?ll save the premiere for a weekday because they?ll get more coverage. So I don?t know what this means.
As for fashion? Anna Kendrick looked great in this Stella McCartney. I actually can?t believe it?s Stella! It works on her. Her hair game is on point too, very pretty.
Elizabeth Banks, the director, producer and costar. I love her. Her ensemble is Marchesa, strangely enough. I don?t hate it? How is that possible?
Rebel Wilson in Marina Rinaldi. The color is pretty but just say no to peplums!
Alexis Knapp, otherwise known as that woman who hooked up with Ryan Phillippe and had his baby. She?s also a returning cast member and I LOVED her in the first one (?He?s a hunter? is one of my favorite lines). This dress though? I don?t love it. It?s Lorena Sarbu.
Brittany Snow was there with her boyfriend Tyler Hoechilin. They are such a cute couple, it?s crazy. She wore a dress by Georges Chakra. Pretty.
Anna Camp wore Phillip Plien. I feel like the cut-outs aren?t really working here, right? I worry about Anna Camp ? she keeps getting written out of good TV shows and it feels like she hasn?t had that critical-mass moment of ?Oh, that?s Anna Camp, I love her!?
Hailee Steinfeld is the new Barton Bella for the sequel. I think she?s adorable, but this dress is not. She?s wearing Dolce & Gabbana. It?s too fussy for someone her age!

Anna Kendrick covers the new issue of Glamour UK. It?s a terrible photoshoot. I think they were trying to make her look a little tousled and glam and she just looks? inappropriate. Some girls just can?t pull off that kind of styling. Anna references as much in her interview, discussing how she still ?looks like a teenager.? Which is true, and not some kind of Ryan Phillippe-esque humble-brag about aging. I would imagine that Anna ? who is almost 30 ? wants to transition into more adult roles, but she?s stuck playing so many college-aged characters because she seriously looks 19. Smiling on command for photographers: “Every year that goes by, I think that my on-camera smile is going to get easier. It’s got worse and worse, to the point where I’m giving that Britney Spears terrified smile, where the lips are upturned, but there’s nothing but fear in the eyes…I’m also the queen of ruining group photos. All my friends will be smiling and looking really pretty, and I’ll be there pretending to pick my nose?or actually picking my nose. It’s a fine line.”
She?s not into the getting pap’d: “Part of it is because I’m dressed really boring in sweatpants and sneakers, so those pictures just don’t sell. You need to be really styled?in the perfect leather jacket and little booties, and have your red lipstick and your coffee?and I haven’t managed that yet. If I’ve got jeans on, it’s a good day.”
She?s going to turn 30 this summer: “I feel like 29 is just total garbage. I’d rather just be 30 for two years. When I say I’m 29, I think I sound like I’m trying to make sure everybody knows I’m not 30. I look like a teenager. I really like ’50s-style dresses, but they make you look childish, and I don’t want to look like one of those people trying to look like a little schoolgirl. I’m trying to give a message to the world that I am a grown up.”
Advice from George Clooney: “I remember Clooney talking about Rosemary Clooney and saying that she was really popular and then suddenly she just wasn’t that hot any more?Nothing changed, she didn’t forget how to sing, but suddenly people just cooled off on her. I’m always sort of prepared for that, so I’m not patting myself on the back for any of the social media stuff. I know that at some point people might just turn around and be like, ‘I hate you.’”

The thing about social media is that different kinds of people are ?good? at it. Like, Anna Kendrick is never going to be the lady to rule the red carpet with her amazing style (she just said as much). She?s never going to be the Kardashian-esque famewhore who will do anything for attention. But Anna can develop and stoke her fanbase through social media, and they feel personally invested in her career and life in a different way. She?s sort of a musical-theater nerd and delightfully dorky, which works for her. And hey, her career is going like gangbusters too. I feel like she?s probably The Next Amy Adams, you know?

Anna Kendrick has a decent interview and editorial in the new edition of pret-a-porter.com?s online magazine, The Edit. You can see the full editorial and interview here. She?s promoting her musical role in The Last Five Years, based on the stage musical. I think that?s the film where there are no speaking parts? Every line of dialogue is sung? I think so. As I?ve been saying, I really like Kendrick these days and I think she?s about to take it to the next level. It won?t necessarily be with this film, but I?m expecting Pitch Perfect 2 to make crazy money and be a gigantic success. It would make me happy if Kendrick was the big movie star of the year, you know? Here are some highlights from The Edit:
Her heroines: ?Women who are willing to show themselves and be honest, and be a little ugly?, namely comediennes such as Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Amy Schumer, Chelsea Peretti and friend Aubrey Plaza. ?I love it when people don?t want things to be polite and comfortable. Sometimes I catch myself self-censoring in that way, where it feels like I?m being kind of edgy and subversive, but I know that I?m not; I know that I?m playing it safe.?
Why she?s so active on Twitter: ?I love seeing what people respond to and think is funny; it?s kind of a puzzle. Trying to express yourself in 140 characters can be this little word game,? she explains. Kendrick regularly puts her tweets through multiple drafts before sending them out into the ether. ?Some people play Candy Crush; I try to perfect my tweets.?
Is she pretending to be ?normal?? ?I guess, maybe? It feels dishonest to me to let anybody in the world think that my farts smell like lavender, or something.?
She cater-waiter?d to make ends meet in the early days: ?I kept wishing, when I got these jobs that were barely enough to keep me afloat, could they just keep me a little more afloat? Maybe a little more than the bare minimum I need to keep the lights on??
She only got rid of her waitress uniform two years ago: ?It was this underlying sense of, ?Well, I definitely have to keep those, in case I need the extra cash.?
Aging in the industry: ?I know that things will be more complicated as an older actress, in ways that I can?t anticipate, but I would really enjoy getting to the point where the reason I?m getting roles or not isn?t based on if somebody thinks I?m hot enough. I feel like I?ve always been a character actress, and this is a blip in my career where I?m playing the ingnue. I?ll be a lot more comfortable and get excited when I?m playing women who aren?t supposed to be pretty.?

That?s very smart for Anna to approach her career like, ?I?m a character actress at heart.? Too many young actresses don?t realize that about themselves. I think Anna will end up having a lengthy career because of it, although she?s probably got another six to seven years of playing the ingnue or the ?girlfriend? or the hot girl. As for her lavender farts?obviously, her farts smell of sunshine and musical theater summer camp.

Stepping out for some promotional duties, Anna Kendrick showed up at the ArcLight Hollywood Cinemas on Wednesday night (February 11).
The ?Pitch Perfect? starlet was joined by costar Jeremy Jordan as she posed for photos ahead of the big premiere of their new movie ?The Last Five Years.?
Meanwhile, Anna told Elle DeGeneres that she was a little concerned about flashing the cameras at the Grammys last weekend given her low-cut pantsuit. ?I thought I had it all figured out with the pantsuit there. I was never going to wear a dress again, I was loving it. And then I had to sit very, very straight. I had a little tape, but I was still nervous about it. By the time I got home my back was killing me. It's just tape. You didn't staple it.?
