Starting her week with a snazzy shindig, Marion Cotillard showed up at TAO Downtown in New York City. The ?Dark Knight Rises? dame was in the house for the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, where she picked up the Best Actress trophy for her work in ?The Immigrant? and ?Two Days, One Night.?
Earlier in the day, Marion told HuffPost Live that she?s always felt bad about the lack of audience enthusiasm regarding her 2009 film adaptation of the Broadway production ?Nine.?
She explained, "I was kind of sad that people didn't connect with ["Nine"] because I love this movie so much. That was an amazing experience with, of course, Daniel Day-Lewis. Maybe people expected something more commercial. I love this movie, and this movie is here forever now, and I know that Rob Marshall loves this movie too and is very proud of it. I don't know if you really need to explain why it didn't work."

These are photos of Marion Cotillard at the London premiere of Two Days, One Night. The movie has been described by The Guardian as a “Belgian western” where Marion plays the “cowgirl.” It sounds inventive and interesting.
Marion is wearing Dior as always. This dress is very elegant and flattering to Marion. The runway version of the dress is a bit more funky and fun with some ruched stitching on one side of the skirt. Dior has lacked a certain spark since the departure of John Paul Gaultier although Marion doesn’t feel that way. She told Stylist magazine (via Contact Music) that creative director Raf Simons “reinvents his world all the time.” Marion always says, “The way he mixes his very modern vision of clothes and the Dior house is really, really impressive.”
Marion also told Stylist that she doesn’t focus on her looks at all. She doesn’t think being attractive is very interesting: “I’m never really aware because I’m not very interested in it. I don’t need it. Sometimes people I work with read blogs, so I see the occasional thing about myself.” She then added, “It makes me laugh because either way you can’t change anything. It’s not the end of the world if you look like sh-t!”
Her attitude on looks is so laid back. Maybe she’s also talking about fashion and not just about beauty. Like, it’s not the end of the world to wear one bad dress on the red carpet. Just own it and move on to the next ensemble. Marion has a very natural beauty, and I appreciate that she hasn’t Botoxed herself like crazy. At the same time, Marion has to know that her stunning looks are a big reason why she’s a successful actress and fashion girl. Of course she probably Googles herself too. You assume that all celebrities have done it at least once.

This isn’t exactly a controversial post, so I don’t expect a huge reaction. I simply wanted to write about Marion Cotillard’s new Lady Dior ads because she looks so freaking lovely. This is the Fall-Winter 2014 campaign for the iconic handbags, and I think it’s brilliant. Marion is gliding effortlessly though the air with the aid of a trampoline. She looks like an ethereal ballerina with her hair floating everywhere. Could you pose like that while bouncing up and down? My tongue would be sticking out in an unintentional Miley Cyrus impression.
This is a great campaign and a big win for Dior. The bags look great and the pleated gowns add to the effect of Marion seemingly moving in slow motion. What I really want to know is why Dior can pull off such an effective vibe with Marion, but they fall down (har har) when it comes to the Jennifer Lawrence ads. Poor JLaw’s ads look robotic and awkward even though she is improving as a model.
I know JLaw isn’t the greatest fit for this fashion house, but they clearly want her on board. They recently renewed her contract for three years (for $15-20 million). So I’d love to see JLaw in a campaign similar to this. She’d be flashing a million-watt smile at the thought of bouncing on a trampoline. I need to stop turning this into a JLaw post. I just miss her.
Marion gets all of the best dresses and bags when it comes to Dior. They save all the really good looks for her. Here’s a behind-the-scenes video of this campaign:

These are all photos of Marion Cotillard at the 13th Marrakech International Film Festival in Morocco over the weekend. There?s no need to do an exhaustive fashion post, mostly because Marion is a Dior Girl and she wore three major Dior ensembles to various events in Marrakech. I don?t really have a favorite ? the dotted full-length gown is okay and I do like the horizontal-striped dress, but the third look is hideous. That netting or whatever on the skirt is just awful. As I said, all of the looks are Dior and they make me sort of miss John Galliano.
Marion has a new interview with Elle France and the quotes sound? more cognizant than I?m used to from Marion. It?s not that I think Marion is a dumb bunny (she?s not), it?s just in interviews, she comes across as a total space cadet, which could totally be a language problem (in all fairness). In this piece, Marion is discussing the fragility of actors and how she fell in love with America:
Marion Cotillard believes many actors suffer from substance abuse issues because they are ”fragile creatures”.
The ‘Dark Knight Rises’ actress thinks that some of her contemporaries give in to the allure of booze and illegal highs because they are looking for an escape from their stressful careers.
When asked why she thinks so many actors succumb to alcohol and drugs, Marion said: ”Actors are fragile creatures. The wider the gap, the more vulnerable we are. Any form of escape can seem good. You have to navigate through the different emotions because you’re placed in tough positions as an actor. Everything we give in a performance can come back to torture.”
The 38-year-old French star has also revealed her profession has led her to become enthralled with the ideals of the ‘American Dream’ – which is the ideal that everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve prosperity and success.
Marion lived in New York for a brief period to learn English and while she was in ‘The Big Apple’ she fell in love with the way of life in the USA and the ideas Americans hold dear.
Speaking the latest French issue of ELLE magazine, she said: ”In a certain respect, yes (I love the American dream). And I love their language. Three years before ‘La Mme’, I came to New York to take an English language course with Berlitz. I didn’t become an actress with the aim of having a career in the US, my dream didn’t have any geographical boundaries, but just after filming Tim Burton’s ‘Big Fish’, I was looking forward to speaking the language fluently because my poor English from my school days was a problem on set. This love of English comes from my childhood, I grew up on American culture. Their music, cinema and literature were part of me.”

The ?fragility of actors? thing? I mean, obviously, it?s real. Many actors are very fragile and emotional and full of all the feelings, and maybe that is why so many of them have drug and alcohol problems. But my knee-jerk reaction to this whole ?acting is so hard and emotionally draining? argument is still a major eye-roll. An actor?s life is not life or death! I would like to know Emma Thompson?s thoughts on this subject.
As for Marion?s love for America? I actually love stories like this. I can?t help it, I?m the daughter of an immigrant! I love naturalization stories and stories about foreign travelers who come to America and fall in love with The Dream and the music and the people. I?m a sap for that stuff.

She?s no stranger to high-profile parties, and last night (December 1) Marion Cotillard was the belle of the ball at Christian Dior?s bash in Marrakech.
The ?Inception? starlet stunned the folks at the 13th Marrakech International Film Festival in her gunmetal-colored dress featuring floral accents and a black skirt.
Marion has been laying low as of late, ever since joining a Greenpeace protest outside the Palais Royal in Paris, France last month.
Cotillard voluntarily caged herself with a sign that read ?I Am A Climate Defender? as a sign of solidarity with the 28 activists and two reporters that were arrested on September 19th after a Russian oil rig protest in the Barents Sea.

A few weeks ago, Marion Cotillard, Reese Witherspoon and Chelsea Handler were all attending the ELLE Women In Hollywood event. Reese and Marion received awards for their work ? Chelsea was just there as a presenter, specifically for Reese?s award, because Reese and Chelsea are so tight nowadays. When Chelsea presented the award to Reese, Chelsea went off like she normally would, ?joking? about Reese?s liquor-soaked arrest and how Reese bitched out a Georgia cop. As was reported at the time, Chelsea made lots of alcohol jokes and jokes about Reese?s Brazilian-waxed vadge, because of course. Well, Marion Cotillard had never heard anything like that before, and Marion hopes to never hear anything like that again.
Some jokes don?t translate! Beloved French actress Marion Cotillard was ?totally horrified? when Chelsea Handler roasted pal Reese Witherspoon at Elle Magazine?s Women In Hollywood event on October 21.
?Mario barely contained her revulsion at Chelsea?s jokes about Reese?s drunken arrest,? an insider tells Star. ?She was aghast that someone of Reese?s status would be ridiculed in such a public way and she thinks American women are vulgar and coarse.?

First of all, I think most Americans are proud of our mock-everyone-equally kind of stance towards the world. It doesn?t matter what kind of ?status? a person has, if we can joke about them or tease them, we will. And we consider it a sign of good character when someone can laugh at themselves too. Marion considers this ?vulgar and coarse? ? I consider it ?direct and no bulls?t.? Now, all that being said? as an American woman, please don?t judge me on the basis of Chelsea Handler. I KNOW vulgar and course and Chelsea Handler is beyond. She?s terrible. Please don?t paint all American women with the Handler brush, Marion.

Taking her obsession with Marion Cotillard too far, a Queens woman was sentenced to probation on Tuesday (May 21).
Back in 2011, Teresa Yuan sent 504 emails with 120 disturbing webcam videos of herself within four days to the French actress's fan website.
As her attorney argued that she be kept out of jail to treat her bipolar disorder, Federal Judge William Kuntz warned Yuan to stay on her medication and only use one internet accessing device so her usage could be monitored by law enforcement.
Speaking about the incident, the cyber-stalker insisted, "It was never my intention to threaten or scare anybody. I am bitterly ashamed of myself."
Though she could have served a year in prison, Judge Kuntz noted, "The victim in this case has been generous and forgiving."

Well, this is a surprise! I?m including two women that most critics and awards-watchers considered to be the biggest contenders for all of the Best Actress awards this year, and both of these women left the BAFTAs empty-handed last night. Marion Cotillard was up for Rust & Bone, and Jessica Chastain was up for Zero Dark Thirty, and both lost to French actress Emmanuelle Riva for Amour. Riva even upset fan-favorite Jennifer Lawrence! SHOCK!
Well, at least Jessica and Marion wore ?interesting? gowns. I guess. I actually flat-out hate Jessica Chastain?s structured, asymmetrical Roland Mouret gown. It?s just so disappointing! This is her second awards season as a nominee (in a row!), and she just cannot get it right. It?s not that this Mouret gown is ?terrible? or anything. It?s just the wrong shade of blue and it?s too tight on her, and her hair is wrong and her makeup is just kind of meh. Jessica could be making such a big impact on the red carpet, and she just? I don?t know. She gets bad advice, maybe? Or she has bad taste?
As for Marion, she wore Dior, obviously. It?s from the same collection as Jennifer Lawrence?s SAG gown two weekends ago. And it has the same weird feature ? the dress ?comes apart? and there?s sheer netting holding all of the pieces together so that if one part of the dress ?rides up? you get a glimpse of legs and/or biscuit. It seems like a really weird design movement, right? As for this particular dress? eh. It?s okay. I don?t like it, but I hate lemon yellow or chrome yellow or whatever you want to call it. I guess the ?muffin hip? design is supposed to be super-avant-garde and structural too, but blah. Whatever.
