Here are some photos from the NY Film Festival premiere of the Coen Brothers? Inside Lleywn Davis. This film already premiered at the Cannes Film Festival back in May, but now they?re gearing up for the wide release of the film, so plan on seeing more of Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac and Garrett Hedlund. Unfortunately for all, Oscar Isaac was not at the premiere this weekend ? he?s THE STAR too. Carey and Garrett are just supporting players.
Anyway, Carey wore this cute little black dress with some kind of built-in gilded choker. You know who could have pulled this off? Naomi Campbell. In fact, I?m pretty cute Naomi has at least five versions of this dress. On Carey, it does look a little bit like someone forced her to wear it ? she?s slouching and she just looks uncomfortable with exposing that sliver of skin at her waist. But I do love her newly brunette hair ? she?s gone back and forth between blonde and brunette throughout her career, and she?s one of those rare people who looks good as both, I think.
I?m also including photos of Carey?s husband Marcus Mumford (of Mumford and Sons) and Garrett Hedlund. Surprisingly, Garrett looked very pulled together, handsome and clean at this event (usually he looks like he just rolled out of bed at his commune). His hair flip made me chuckle. Also: I really do think he and Kiki Dunst are on the rocks. But we?ll see. Kirsten wasn?t there to support him, which is weird because she usually comes out to support him.

Arriving in style to promote her new movie, Carey Mulligan attended the New York Film Festival screening of "Inside Llewyn Davis" in New York City on Saturday (September 28).
The "Great Gatsby" star sported some new brunette locks as she worked the red carpet in a black halter dress with cutouts at the torso.
In the music-filled drama, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, a young singer navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene in 1961.
Also appearing in the movie are Oscar Isaac, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, and Adam Driver. "Inside Llewyn Davis" hits theaters on December 20th.

Eager to check out the biggest event in town, Carey Mulligan was in attendance at the Glastonbury Festival in Glastonbury, England on Sunday (June 30).
Dressed in black jeans, a black blazer, and with her hair pulled back, the ?Great Gatsby? actress walked around with pals as they checked out the live music and art displays.
With performances by Mumford & Sons, Rita Ora, and The Rolling Stones, among others, the festival is the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world.
Causes supported by ticket sales to the event include Greenpeace, Oxfam, and Water Aid. The Glastonbury Festival runs through Sunday, June 30.

Though he may have recently made his return to music, Justin Timberlake joined castmates to promote his latest film, "Inside Lleywn Davis" at a photocall at the Palais des Festivals at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday (May 19).
Clad in a checked shirt, double-breasted black sweater, and khakis, the "Sexyback" singer was joined by costar Carey Mulligan, in a sleeveless knee-length little black dress and platform heels.
Also on hand to plug the flick was Garrett Hedlund, who wore some scruffy facial hair, a powder blue dress shirt, and a black suit.
The drama follows a singer-songwriter in the 1960s New York folk music scene, Justin and Carey play husband-and-wife folk musicians who meet the title character along the way. "Inside Llewyn Davis" hits theaters in the U.S. on December 6th.

The Cannes Film Festival has officially begun! HUZZAH! It should be a fun two weeks full of interesting photos, although if past Cannes Film Festivals are any indication, I?m due to get a cold and I?ll end up editing photos while high on antihistamines for a week until I?m completely OVER Cannes. But right now I feel fine and I?m excited to see these pics from The Great Gatsby photocall. Gatsby will premiere tonight, it?s opening the festival. Are you excited?
While I?m sure Baz Luhrmann will bring some epic drama to the premiere, I?m not so sure about the actual stars of the film. Leonardo DiCaprio is between official girlfriends, so he?ll probably be going solo (and boring) to the premiere. Carey Mulligan has been a total snoozefest (style-wise) so far during Gatsby?s promotion, and Isla Fisher has barely been around. So? while I?m excited about the premiere photos, it?s not like we?re waiting for Brangelina, you know?
At the photocall, Carey wore a Balenciaga jumpsuit which is not all that great. It?s fine for a photocall,but it?s not the most flattering thing. It?s neither heinous (and thus noteworthy) nor awesome. It?s just boringly fug. Isla Fisher?s dress is more traditionally pretty and traditionally ?south of France?. She looks really good here. As for Leo and Tobey Maguire? sure. Leo looks particularly good. Well-rested! He?s going to have a great time in Cannes.

Ready to rub elbows with her fellow fashionistas, Carey Mulligan showed up at the 2013 Costume Institute Gala on Monday evening (May 6) in New York City.
The ?Great Gatsby? star rocked a black calf-length Balenciaga dress with a cut out back as she graciously stopped for photographers stationed outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
With co-chairs Rooney Mara, Lauren Santo Domingo, Riccardo Tisci, and Anna Wintour, the 2013 Met Costume Gala is poised to be the biggest and brightest so far.
Of the ?PUNK: Chaos to Couture? theme, Metropolitan Museum of Art Director and CEO Thomas P. Campbell told press, ?Punk?s signature mixing of references was fueled by artistic developments such as Dada and postmodernism, so it makes sense to present this exhibition in a museum that also shows the broader output of those movements. Indeed, that dialogue between art and fashion is what makes The Costume Institute so singular. Here are some photos from last night?s NYC premiere of The Great Gatsby. Considering the way this film is already being built up as THE EVENT of 2013 and considering that so many designers did Gatsby-themed lines associated with the film, I really was expecting a more eventful carpet. The fashion is a total snooze, which makes me think that everyone is saving their A-game for Cannes. Hopefully! Anyway, here?s the star of this mess, Carey Mulligan, in Lanvin, a surprising choice for her because she?s such a Prada girl. I initially mistook this for Prada, so I?m glad I looked it up. It?s? okay. Nothing special. Kind of basic. Just FYI: Carey IS a really small woman, but the dress does have a built-in corset, which is making her look even smaller.
Florence Welch in Miu Miu. I really dislike this dress. I ?understand? why she?s wearing it ? because she?s the next big thing in fashion/music/the world ? but it looks like a glittery sailor suit to me. Flo can do better. She was at the premiere because she did some music for the soundtrack, just FYI.
Isla Fisher in Dolce & Gabbana. God, this is boring.
Mamie Gummer in?? I don?t know. I love her, but I hate the shoes.
Nina Dobrev came to the premiere! She wore Versace. She?s one of those women who makes couture look like it came from the mall ? I think it?s because she looks perpetually 16 years old.
Jennifer Morrison in Dolce & Gabbana too. This looks like a too-fussy vintage dress. It also looks like her grandmother?s antique lace tablecloth.

Carey Mulligan covers the June issue of Harper?s Bazaar UK, and these are the newsstand cover and subscriber?s cover. I think I?m alone in hating both covers. And I?m saying that as someone who likes/admires Carey, and I have high hopes that she?s going to be a brilliant Daisy Buchanan. But instead of styling her like Gatsby?s Daisy (which is what Vogue did for the May issue), they did this cotton-candy hair, Grey Gardens look. She looks like a little old lady. Or a ghost!!
The Great Gatsby is almost upon us. The big American premiere will be this Wednesday, and then it?s on to Cannes, where I imagine it will be well-received. From what I remember, Cannes LOVED Moulin Rouge, and this seems to be in the same vein. And you know what I keep thinking about? How Blake Lively auditioned for the role of Daisy Buchanan. OMG. I cannot even believe that Blake got through the door on that one. But would you like to know how Carey got the part? She totally snogged Leonardo DiCaprio in the audition!! ?Atta girl.
Carey Mulligan bagged a role in Baz Luhrmann?s ?The Great Gatsby? by giving Leonardo DiCaprio a surprise kiss during her audition.
The Australian filmmaker recruited leading man DiCaprio to help pick an actress to play Jay Gatsby?s love interest Daisy Buchanan in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the classic novel, and it was Mulligan?s brave smooch that really impressed DiCaprio.
Luhrmann tells The Hollywood Reporter, ?Leonardo was at every audition. He worked with me ? it was work. He is not an acting snob but I guess if he was a chef, he can really tell what is fine cuisine. So Carey came in. I?d swapped scenes (to read during the audition) and forgot and (the script said) she kisses him. (Mulligan) grabbed me? and she said, ?Should I? Should I kiss him?? I went, ?Yeah, but don?t tell him!?
?So she does the scene, absolutely fantastic, and grabs him and kisses him. She went out the door and I was just thinking, ?My God, that is Daisy Buchanan.?
?I thought, ?I wonder what Di (DiCaprio) thinks?. He said, ?The way Carey manifests Daisy is like something Gatsby would never have met in his life, something so delicate that he would want to protect to her to an obsessive and almost impossible level.? And then it was done. It was done.?

Yeah. So that?s how she got the part. She inhabited Daisy. And I honestly think she?s probably a smarter choice for the role than, say, Mia Farrow. I know that?s slander around here, but Mia Farrow sucked as Daisy in the 1970s version. Robert Redford? SURE. He can inhabit Gatsby any day of the week. But Carey will be a fine Daisy.
