![Duchess Kate wore green Self Portrait in Nassau, then played around on a boat Duchess Kate wore green Self Portrait in Nassau, then played around on a boat](https://eu4.besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20220328/20220328_SRCZPBGUS_2342983_003.jpg) Here are some photos from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge?s day-activities in Nassau, The Bahamas on Friday. Their first event of the day was the Junkanoo street festival, then a visit to a local school, and some kind of open-air reception for health care workers. After all of that, Kate and William did a regatta, because they both love boats and clearly they have not gotten the message that perhaps they need to dial down the elitist imagery. The Junkanoo festival was pretty much rained out there was a torrential downpour on Friday morning and Will and Kate still could not manage to recreate Harry and Meghan?s umbrella photo.
For much of the day, Kate wore a pastel-green 350 Self Portrait dress, with 525 Jimmy Choo heels and a pair of earrings from Nadia Irena, a local designer. The dress is? very Kate. During the Disaster Tour, she didn?t do much of anything to reflect local designers or even British-based Caribbean-diaspora fashion designers. The only things she changed up were some jewelry pieces and purses from local designers and that?s it. William didn?t do anything either, although (to be fair) we never hear any details about what he?s wearing, probably because he wears clothes so badly and everything is so wrinkled and moose-knuckley.
Kate also made a speech at the event at Sybil Strachan Primary School. People were taking bets on how the Cambridge children would be referenced and what William and Kate would say that their kids ?liked? about Belize, Jamaica or The Bahamas. Well, who had ?the kids love being by the sea? on their bingo card?
Kate Middleton had her three children on her mind as she delivered a speech to young students in The Bahamas on Friday. During Kate and Prince Williams visit to Sybil Strachan Primary School in Nassau, the royal mom spoke at an outdoor assembly that was attended by students at the school and virtually by students across The Bahamas. During her address, she thanked everyone for the couples warm welcome and jokingly apologized for the rainy weather, telling them, I hope you didnt get too wet coming here and apologies for bringing the British weather with us.
We are so thrilled to be here in The Bahamas, a country that made us feel so at home as soon as we set foot on its soil, she continued. I only wish we were able to visit all of your 700 islands during our stay!
She then told the students that her own three children ? Prince George, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3 ? would love to visit the Caribbean country.
Our three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, all love being by the sea, so I hope they will be able to experience your clear waters and beautiful beaches before too long, the Duchess of Cambridge, 40, said.
[From People]
Other asides from Friday?s activities: William said the rain is better in The Bahamas because at least it stays warm (my dude, you?re in the tropics). He also said George has been following their progress on his own map/globe and telling his siblings where his parents are. Kate tried to take on a mulligan on her awful photo-ops in Jamaica in which she greeted Black children behind a chain-link fence and visibly recoiled when Black people got too close to her by touching at least one child at the Junkanoo Festival. All in all? a mess.
Taking to the sea yesterday for a very special regatta here in The Bahamas. Thank you to the crew for braving the rain! It was a close race? pic.twitter.com/bsgcvKd5xX

It?s not really a tour as much as it is a lil? trip to Copenhagen. Kensington Palace tried to embiggen the solo tour as a ?fact-finding mission? to help Kate?s Keen Institute For Buttons and Early Years. So we?ll see. Hand-flapping, flag-cosplay and wiglets are incoming. In the meantime, KP has announced two future events for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. First up: on Saturday, they?ll attend a big rugby match.
Theres a big sporting match-up at Twickenham on Saturday. Not England v Wales, but Kate Middleton v Prince William. The famously competitive couple will be in the stands to cheer on their respective teams in their Six Nations tie.
William, 39, has been patron of the Welsh Rugby Union since 2016, while sporty Kate, 40, was announced as patron of the Rugby Football League and the Rugby Football Union this month. She took over the roles from her brother-in-law Prince Harry who used to enjoy cheering on England before he was forced to give up the patronage as part of the Megxit agreement.
Kate, who grew up watching rugby with her family, is known as one of the sportiest members of the Royal Family and has gamely taken on her husband in everything from dragon boating to wind buggy racing at royal engagements.
[The Duke and Duchess] are famously competitive with each other and this will be no different ? probably even more so now that they have an invested interest in the outcome of the game, a source said when Kates patronage was announced.
[From The Daily Mail]
It always amazes me that ?going to football/rugby/tennis matches/games? counts as work for the royals. Maybe it only counts when the royals are total lightweights and Regent Charles doesn?t want their idiotic keenery all over his work. Anyway, something to keep our eye on: we?ll see the Keens this weekend. Maybe George will come. We?ll also see them together next week, on March 1st.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced their next trip together and it will take place next week. The royal couple is set to visit Wales next Tuesday (March 1) to mark St Davids Day and will be travelling to both Abergavenny and Blaenavon.
The announcement of the trip comes just a day after it was revealed the Queen has tested positive for Covid-19 but is only experiencing mild symptoms. Experts have said other royals such as William and Kate are all willing to step in to carry out duties for Her Majesty while she recovers from the virus.
During the trip to Wales, Kensington Palace says William and Kate will learn about the importance of the agricultural industry for rural communities and how they celebrate the history of local regions. In Abergavenny, they will visit Pant Farm, a goat farm, which has been producing milk to a local cheese producer for nearly 20 years. Later they will visit Abergavenny Market to visit local producers while in Blaenavon they will stop off at Blaenavon Hwb a community focused youth centre.
[From The Daily Mirror]
I?m not going to complain about this? It?s whatever, this is what they should be doing. It?s what they should do at least once a month. Prince Charles does these kinds of trips all the time, usually one a week or once a fortnight. It is interesting that? it felt like suddenly Kate was doing a flurry of events two/three weeks ago, then she went dark for ten days or so, and now there?s a new flurry of ?work.?

![The Grenadier Guards want Duchess Kate to take over as their royal patron The Grenadier Guards want Duchess Kate to take over as their royal patron](https://eu4.besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20220125/20220125_aZiPYavalon-0513308603.jpg) For someone who has been a part of The Firm for nearly eleven full years, it?s pretty strange that the Duchess of Cambridge has so few honorary military appointments. Her sole honorary appointment was foisted upon her one Christmas several years ago: she?s the Honorary Air Commandant of the Royal Air Force Cadets. During a trip to Canada, she was also made an honorary Canadian Ranger. End of list! I also remember that when it was clear that Prince Harry would be stripped of his honorary military appointments, there was a lot of talk about how William was especially keen to take those over, except oh right, he didn?t actually want to work, and so now most of those appointments are just still sitting there. Not even Kate took them up. Now it looks like one of Prince Andrew?s biggest military appointments might go to Kate:
The Grenadier Guards want Kate Middleton to replace Prince Andrew as their colonel, it has been reported. Senior officials have said they want the Duchess of Cambridge to take on the role after the Duke of York was axed from the position this month.
Kate would be the first appointed female colonel in the regiments 366-year history if she were to take on the role. And she would replace disgraced Prince Andrew who was stripped of his military patronages over allegations he sexually assaulted Virginia Giuffre something he has always strongly denied.
A senior source in the Grenadier Guards told The Times: From straw polling through the ranks, they would all love it to be Kate. We all admire the way she has fitted in and behaved, she never seems to put a foot wrong. Everything she has taken on she really commits to and we want someone who will really engage with us.
The appointment is decided by the regiment and the Queen, 95, who has so far taken on Andrews role by default. But it is understood the announcement about the new colonel role has been delayed. A military source told The Times the name of the new colonel was due to have been announced on Monday but it wasnt the Duchess of Cambridge.
That it wasnt announced means they have been thinking about it again, the source added.
Andrew, 61, became colonel-in-chief of the Grenadier Guards in 2017 after inheriting the position from the Duke of Edinburgh.
[From The Sun]
I also think it would be nice if Kate took this over they clearly want her, and it would be cool to see the first woman take that honorary position. But the Grenadier Guards are smoking crack if they think Kate will work hard for them or do a lot of events with them. If it happens, they?ll be lucky to get to see her flapping jazz hands once every two years. I also think that?s why it probably won?t happen! Maybe that?s what the delay is about? no one at Buckingham Palace wants to give this prized military honorary appointment to someone who won?t show up.

![Duchess Kate is a 'reassuringly conventional royal performer' for these troubled times Duchess Kate is a 'reassuringly conventional royal performer' for these troubled times](https://eu4.besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20220118/20220118_HFqAZ46ffb3637cb.jpg) The British monarchy is feeling pretty bruised and battered at the moment, given the Prince Andrew situation and the rather meaningless move to ?strip? Andrew of his HRH and patronages. The Windsors will react by changing the subject in two ways: one, they?ll obviously find some way to bash the Duke and Duchess of Sussex; and two, they?ve got to force Prince William and Kate to ?step up? and really become the face of the modern monarchy. Royal reporters would love nothing more than to focus more attention on William and Kate. The problem? For all of that embiggening and PR, the Cambridges still don?t want to actually DO anything. All they do is sit around and talk about how they?re ?carrying the burden of the crown? and ?trying to make the crown relevant.? What?s even worse is when they leave William out of the equation entirely and just make everything about Kate. LOL. So, here we go:
Kate, the savior of the monarchy: Royal insiders say the monarchy is counting on one person to save the family?s reputation amidst an ongoing sea of scandal: future queen Kate Middleton. ?As the Prince Andrew scandal shows, the monarchy is in desperate need of reassuringly conventional royal performers,? Patrick Jephson, the former chief of staff for Kate?s mother-in-law Princess Diana, told The Post exclusively. ?Catherine is just what these troubled royal times need ? it?s no exaggeration that the Windsors? future lies in her hands.?
On Kate?s birthday portraits, where she wore Diana?s earrings: ?It?s a very calculated decision by Kate and William to keep including Diana in anything that is about setting out a new royal chapter,? Bethan Holt, fashion director of the UK Daily Telegraph, told The Post. ?It?s very clever of Kate to keep her memory alive.?
Kate, master of the long game: ?Monarchy is the ultimate long game ? because unlike business, politics or media stardom, royalty is for life and its time horizons are infinite,? said Jephson. ?Catherine has mastered that long game and that?s a very significant achievement.?
The Cambridges are more popular than Charles & Camilla: ?Charles and Camilla don?t seem to have the global pull and there seems to be this absolute campaign to make William and Kate the family?s global stars,? said Holt, the author of ?The Duchess of Cambridge: A Decade of Modern Royal Style.? ?There seems to be a whole royal family operation to elevate the Cambridges.?
The monarchy?s last cards: One highly placed palace source added: ?If Charles and Diana had made a go of it we wouldn?t be talking like this. Because Charles and Camilla put their own needs and happiness first [having an affair that helped lead to the end of Charles and Diana?s marriage], we are in a continuing constitutional bind that means that William and Kate are the Windsors? last cards.?
There?s an explicit goal of highlighting the differences between Kate & Meghan: ?When Kate came in, she said, ?I?m going to learn the ropes.? Meghan said, ?I?m going to hit the ground running,? said the palace source. ?Learning the ropes is a lifetime job; hitting the ground running is not the royal style, and for good reason. You have to know who you?re running to ? and who?s alongside you.?
Kate has a small team: One source who knows the Middleton family revealed: ?Kate has a tiny team surrounding her day to day. She?s not part of the royal circus ? for her, less is more.?
Who else helps Kate: ?The Queen would be very ready to give specific advice possibly because the organization has worked out that you can?t just leave people to work it out for themselves,? said the palace source. ?In many ways, I?m sure William is [involved,? added Jephson. ?It helps that Catherine, like Diana, has that indefinable but essential royal quality: presence. She has the bearing, the gravitas, the regal factor that already sets her apart from other royal women as a future queen.?
The end of Country Kate? ?There?s no getting away from it, the Cambridges have had their [country estate] child-rearing years ? now the real royal business begins. She has absolutely created a moment for herself and it?s been done very deliberately.?
On the royal birthday portraits: ?Royalty is symbolism and theater ? constitutionally, that?s its function,? Jephson said. ?And [an official portrait] has to work at first glance ? and at the millionth glance.? One thing to note, said Holt, is that Kate is not wearing a tiara nor a royal sash in the photos: ?She?s still saving something for later.?
[From Page Six]
Again, it?s worth pointing out that nothing is happening in lockstep, that there are a lot of competing factors when it comes to Kate specifically. One, while Kate enjoys being embiggened, she is not interested in putting in the work. Two, the royal press and probably old-school monarchists are the main people desperate for Kate to take the spotlight and assume a bigger role (but again, she?s too lazy). Three, Kate is getting pushback constantly from within the institution: her husband, father-in-law and grandmother-in-law do not want Kate to be the center of the attention. So all of this is just another promise to be keen, a promise to eventually be future-queen-y at some point. And again, at the tailend of her birthday extravaganza, Kensington Palace briefed reporters that Kate isn?t actually going to do anything different for the next fifteen years.

![Duchess Kate's photos of her kids ensure that there's no market for pap pics?! Duchess Kate's photos of her kids ensure that there's no market for pap pics?!](https://eu4.besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20210723/20210723_DbbGRkate-hold-still.jpg) I forget that this happens every dang time, but here we go again: every time Kensington Palace releases a new photo (taken by the Duchess of Cambridge) of one of the Cambridge children, we have to hear stories about how Kate is the most amazing Future Future Queen ever. Because she?s a keen amateur photographer. But it?s not just ?Kate takes cute pics of her kids.? It?s ?Kate is a brilliant PR mastermind for dedicating herself to taking photos of her children!? This is what happens when a duchess is lazy as hell and a huge media operation has little material with which to embiggen her.
The Duchess of Cambridge has taken ownership of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis public image, a royal expert has claimed. Kate Middleton, 39, is a keen amateur photographer and has become known for releasing candid snaps of her children for special events, including their birthdays each year. Royal expert Camilla Tominey said the model is unique for the Duke, 39, and Duchess of Cambridge and helps the family maintain a level of privacy for Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three.
Speaking to The Telegraph, she said: The paparazzi theres no market anymore because the Duchess comes out with her own family photos and theyre far more valuable to the press than images taken at a long lens. Thats how The Cambridges are going to strike the balance, theyre going to give in order to receive a degree of privacy back.
Speaking as the Duchess released a beaming snap of her eldest son George on his eighth birthday, Camilla said: Georges childhood will be very different from the royals who have gone before him. His generation is the digital generation and the challenges for the Cambridges as time goes on is how to manage public interest in their son with their own privacy.
She said she thought Prince Georges recent appearance at Wembley was because the little royal is genuinely a football fan, but added: Equally the Cambridges do want the public to see their children and have some degree of access to them. Youve got [to] balance the private and the public of their lives and theres an expectation of seeing George grow up because he will one day be King.
She added that parenting through the royal generations has become more hands on, revealing: Were told the Cambridges very much plan their diary around the fact someone needs to be there in the morning and for bedtime. We know the Duchess does the school run herself and drives the children in that theyre there for the key events in the school term. They want to be parents first and foremost. Theres a sense for both of them that they know what their destiny isbut before then, they want to try to preserve as much family life as they can. Prince George is a child of the new digital generation unlike when Prince William and Harry got into trouble. I think Prince George will have to be quite careful to preserve his own privacy as he becomes a teenager and his parents will be acutely aware hes vulnerable.
However she added that Kate had taken ownership of her childrens image in the press by releasing photographs of them each year, adding: The interesting thing about the Cambridges model, and its kind of unique for the royals, is that the Duchess in particular has almost taken ownership of the childrens image. We had a situation when the children were first born when the couple were worried about pap shotsKate now saturates the market with her own imagery of the children. And I think well see that continue.
[From The Daily Mail]
Kate does not ?saturate the market.? She used to only release one or two images of her children a year, although in recent years, she has been posting more photos. It?s still not ?saturating the market? though. Besides, some of the most popular photos are the ones shot when the kids attend an event, or when the kids are in public in some way. When George was a baby, the photos of him on the Australia tour went all over the world in a way that Kate?s sanctioned portraits just don?t. When the kids go to polo games, those photos are much more popular than Kate?s photos of her kids. People were more interested in seeing George at the Euro football matches than seeing his birthday portrait. So I have no idea what Tominey is talking about. I do think it?s notable that Tominey basically makes it sound like the photos are all Kate. William doesn?t have a say, I guess. I actually think William wanted to skip releasing a portrait of George this year and Kate was like ?I do what I want.?

![Pippa Middleton went to the Euro match too, but she didn't sit with Prince William Pippa Middleton went to the Euro match too, but she didn't sit with Prince William](https://eu4.besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20210709/20210709_BeakaBGUS_2047428_001.jpg) When did Prince William really begin to put some daylight between himself and the Middletons? I still think it goes back to Tatler?s ?Catherine the Great? cover story last year, when Kate wanted her PR to be that she?s ?the kingmaker? and William would be nothing without her buttons and keenness. Tatler made sure to include Rose Hanbury?s name and a lot of shadiness towards Kate?s family too and the whole thing turned into a massive PR debacle. In the year that followed, Kate continued to lean into this ?Kate the Keen Kingmaker, Top CEO, Lynchpin Guevara, Peacemaker Extraordinaire? storyline. And William doesn?t want it. That storyline doesn?t benefit him or his Future King plans. So he?s been disentangling himself and the Middletons are getting increasingly hysterical as they try to bring him back into the fold.
Why am I bringing this up? Apparently, Pippa Middleton and her husband, Terribly Moderately Wealthy James Matthews, were at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night for the England v. Denmark Euro semifinal. The Daily Mail thoughtfully noted that Pippa and James were not invited to the VIP Box to watch the match with Pippa?s brother-in-law.
Pippa Middleton cut an elegant figure as she joined her husband James Matthews to cheer on England at Wembley last night. The mother-of-two, 37, opted not to wear a football shirt and instead chose a cream blouse and baby Pink culottes, which she paired with tan wedges, to watch the Three Lions triumph in the Euro 2020.
The Duchess of Cambridges sister arrived alongside her billionaire husband, 45, leaving children Arthur, two, and newborn Grace at home, and could be seen queuing alongside punters to enter the event.
Pippas brother-in-law the Duke also attended the match last night, although the couple did not join him in his box. Meanwhile Kate Middleton was unable to attend, having been forced to self-isolate after she came into contact with someone who tested positive despite being double-jabbed and testing negative for the virus herself.
[From The Daily Mail]
Terribly Moderately Wealthy James is not a billionaire! Fake news! The whole reason I call him TMW James is because the Middleton Propaganda endlessly repeated that James was and is ?terribly rich.? When people finally began to assess James? actual worth, yes, he?s wealthy and he comes from a wealthy family but he?s not a billionaire!
As for Pippa and James not getting into the VIP Box. I understand the explanation/excuse, which is that the section is for VIPs, royals and politicians. That?s all true. But it still feels notable that Prince William and his sister-in-law were at the same event and they apparently didn?t sit together, see each other or speak to each other? Are the Middletons out in the cold?
Pippa Middleton and husband James kept a low-profile as they queued with punters to cheer on the Three Lions at Wembley https://t.co/vFcN5GLbZs

Well, she doesn?t have many patronages at all, but there aren?t many she visits consistently. She?s a fan of the National Portrait Gallery, of course, and she?s probably done the most work with them in recent years. One of Kate?s first patronages was EACH, East Anglia?s Children?s Hospices. She averages maybe two visits or events with EACH every year. Incidentially, the photos we always use of Kate and William with Rose Hanbury? Those are from an EACH benefit hosted by Rose and her husband at Houghton Hall. Yes, Rose is very involved with EACH too. Just FYI.
Anyway, I looked it up and the last time Kate did anything with or for EACH was literally one year ago exactly. Yes, it?s time for the annual Children?s Hospice Week. Last year, Kate went tan and maskless to a hospice, planted a tree and breathed on sick kids. What?s in store for us this year? Well, it looks like EACH is going to have to make due with Kateum, writing a letter of support.
Kate Middleton and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are raising awareness for Childrens Hospice Week following an especially tough and frightening year for families with vulnerable kids.
Kate, the royal patron of East Anglias Childrens Hospices (EACH), asked everyone to join her in thanking the U.K.s 54 childrens hospices and their incredible staff for the life-changing care they provide in a letter to mark the week.
The last year has been a difficult one for everyone, and especially tough and frightening for families with seriously ill children, she said. Many started shielding long before others, worrying about the pandemic and what it might mean for their child.
The theme for this years Childrens Hospice Week is Pushed to the Limits, recognizing how hard the past year has been for these families.
Childrens hospices are a lifeline, and I have been privileged to see first-hand the remarkable work they do, Kate, 39, continued. They give families the care and time they need to make treasured lifelong memories the chance to be parents, not carers. Vitally, they are also there when it is time to say goodbye, making sure a family has privacy and dignity so they can grieve together, and are able to receive support for as long as they need it.
[From People]
You can read Kate?s letter here at EACH. They just posted a copy of the letter with the Kensington Palace letterhead, and Kate?s signature. I?d be willing to bet that staffers wrote the letter and Kate signed it. That counts as an event, right?
Anyway, just pointing out that Kate really does so little for or with her existing patronages, yet she has all the time in the world to create the Keen Buttons and Early Years Research Institute, where she will be keen, drown herself in buttons and ?research? child development. Until she gets bored, I guess. I also wonder what happened to Heads Together and how the Cambridges schemed to put all of their existing patronages in one place so they could presumably do less work? Whatever happened to that?
Our Patron, HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, has marked the start of #ChildrensHospiceWeek by sending a personal message of support to celebrate the vital work we do for children and families. Read the full message here: https://t.co/JwGbMb68kI@KensingtonRoyal pic.twitter.com/ALaIOARIHm

![Duchess Kate's unrivaled 'social media game' will 'change the crown forever' Duchess Kate's unrivaled 'social media game' will 'change the crown forever'](https://eu4.besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20210428/20210428_tKKfZcambridge21.jpg) As we discussed, I found Kensington Palace?s video of Prince William signing letters for ANZAC Day to be somewhat creepy. To be clear, the simple fact that William marked the day was not creepy in and of itself. What was creepy was the weird POV perspective video. It?s all part of a larger social media strategy from the Cambridges. Theyre trying to be more engaged and to produce exclusive content for social media. They only started doing that when Meghan came around and they began to copy her. They even bought bot followers to compete with the popularity of the SussexRoyal Instagram, and they hired the Sussexes? old social media guy, David Watkins. So? guess who?s getting credit for revolutionizing the monarchy with her social media game?
Kate Middleton has upstaged sister-in-law Meghan Markle in a royal power play set to change the crown forever, claims an expert. Commentator Daniela Elser said the Duchess of Cambridge has been nailing the social media game while the world is distracted by the Harry and Meghan Show. She pointed to a video shared on Prince William and Kates Kensington Palace social media accounts over the weekend marking Anzac Day as a key example. The footage included the Duke writing letters to the Australian and New Zealand high commissioners on the national day of remembrance for both nations.
Ms Elser said the clip, which also featured an unseen flunkie zipped across London to deliver the missives along with homemade Anzac biscuits, showcased how quietly radical the Duchess can be. Writing for news.com.au, she said: It was indisputable proof of something that has become increasingly apparent of late: Kate is simply nailing the social media game right now. See, while royal news over the last year has nearly been wholly consumed by the ongoing Sussex melodrama, all TV tears, pouting, posturing and eye-popping business deals, something very interesting has been going on back in the UK. That is, while the eyes of the world were, by and large, glued to the Harry and Meghan Show, Kate has been revolutionising the royal social media game.
Ms Elser also highlighted a post shared by Kensington Royal at Easter as another case in point. Rather than the obvious imagery associated with the time of year, the Cambridges instead went with a cheeky video of a chocolate egg being smashed in reverse, she said.
The commentator added that Kates skills as an amateur photographer have also helped in the couples social media transformation. And are key going forward as they oversee a significant intellectual shift in the Firms image as they prepare to take charge in the years to come. Ms Elser added it is openness and realness and at times tongue-in-cheek humour that are the perfect way to ensure the monarchy continues to engage with the people.
[From The Daily Mirror]
The fact that the source for this mess is Australian somewhat surprised me. But sure, it?s easy to revolutionize the monarchy with social media when you?re A) copying from your sister-in-law and B) when you?re so thin-skinned and unhinged that you and your incandescent husband force the Sussexes to abandon their Instagram. What?s kind of crazy is that Kate and William really do have this enormous platform and they could use their social media very easily to highlight great causes and raise money for charity. Instead, we get bizarre egg-smashing videos and keen pie charts for Kate?s busy work.
Wishing you all a safe and happy Easter ? pic.twitter.com/kYwv79hrvV

![Duchess Kate 'really polished up her appearance over the last three years' Duchess Kate 'really polished up her appearance over the last three years'](https://eu4.besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20210401/20210401_QbZmfDUCHESSCAM_ZB68_345570_0031.jpg) For years now, whenever the Duchess of Sussex is in the news and the British media is being insanely nasty to her, there?s usually some weird counterprogramming coming out of Kensington Palace about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Like, 9 out of 10 headlines are ?Meghan eats kittens for breakfast, Piers Morgan reacts? and then the tenth headline will be ?Duchess Kate loves the color pink!? So it is at the moment. With everything going down with the Sussexes right now, *someone* wants to remind us that we?ll soon be celebrating a decade of Duchess Kate. The Cambridges? ten-year wedding anniversary is coming up in April and so gird yourself for these sugary, vague fking articles about how Kate has only recently grown in confidence, or started picking out her own clothes, or wiping her own ass, or finally achieved the much-promised keenness. Here?s the current story: Kate has grown in confidence as a fashionista in the past three years. Weird timeline, tell me more.
As Kate Middleton gets ready to celebrate 10 years as a member of the royal family, one author explains why the Duchess of Cambridge is making style headlines now more than ever before.
I think she has become a lot more confident, Bethan Holt, author of The Duchess of Cambridge: A Decade of Modern Royal Style, says in the first issue of PEOPLE Royals. She started off quite tentatively finding her way and very conscious of her place in the family and I think as she has taken on more responsibility, you really see that in her clothing.
According to Holt, who also writes for the U.Ks Daily Telegraph, Kates clothing budget may have increased over the years but her overall style has simply gone up a notch. Shes always been very ladylike, elegant and put-together, but she has really polished up her appearance over the last three years.
It was after having Prince Louis in 2018 that Holt says Kate really started to take small but noticeable style risks. Arriving at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London to open a new photography center in October 2018, Kate wore a striking look by the British-based designer Erdem. Her checked midi-length boucle tweed dress had a slight off-the-shoulder neckline and featured crystal and pearl buttons. With her signature bouncy blowout, she accessorized the chic look with a cluster of sparkly brooches and sky-high red velvet heels.
Earlier that year, there had been subtle signs that Kate was on a style mission. At Louis christening in July, she wore an oversized embellished hatband by the British milliner Jane Taylor that sparked the beginnings of a millinery trend. It was on the Prada catwalk a few months later, says Holt, adding that while the padded hatband was divisive at first, it became her signature and much-copied look. Shes worn velvet ones, Zara ones ? shes really made it her own.
In the coming months, Kate continued to debut a new, more fashion-forward, polished look, wearing trousers (a first!) on numerous occasions, favoring up-and-coming designers and choosing bold pieces from luxe labels. Visiting a childrens center in Lambeth, London, in March 2019, she wore a vibrant lilac pussy-bow Gucci blouse, teamed with black wide-legged trousers and a matching lilac top handle bag from Aspinal London, a professional but glamorous look not seen before.
Over the years, Kate has often adopting a high-low approach to royal dressing. On an official visit to Ireland with Prince William last year, she wowed in a luxe sequin cocktail dress from The Vampires Wife and the following day wore a white Reiss coat, that she had kept in her closet for over 13 years.
That was a real stroke of genius, says Holt, who says the secret to Kates sartorial success is to look appropriately regal but never above her position. The Reiss coat was a reminder of the girl that she once was, before she had all these responsibilities and it was a really good example that clothes arent just clothes, they are telling a story.

Again, ?she has really polished up her appearance over the last three years.? Nary a mention of the fashionable American who married Kate?s brother-in-law, the same person whose style Kate visibly began to copy and Single White Female. Meghan carried a cute handle-top bag and suddenly Kate had one too. Meghan wore trousers for her first outings and suddenly Kate wore them too. Meghan wears separates and suddenly Kate ditches the dowdy Victorian coatdresses and discovers separates as well. And on and on. It?s not really the case that Kate suddenly grew in confidence overnight either it?s that Meghan?s entrance on the scene changed the media landscape overnight. Suddenly every British paper was praising Kate to high heaven as the good duchess, the white duchess, the duchess who gets coddled and infantilized and never puts a foot wrong.

![Duchess Meghan to Kate & the rest of them: 'Rude and racist are not the same' Duchess Meghan to Kate & the rest of them: 'Rude and racist are not the same'](https://eu4.besteyecandy.com/rss_photos/20210309/20210309_iodJCZB68_330533_038.jpg) Yesterday, I was still trying to summarize and cover all of the big moments from the Sunday night telecast of Oprah?s interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when CBS This Morning began dropping all of these new exclusive clips. Oprah spent a good deal of time with the Sussexes in Montecito and I?ve heard that Oprah got something like three-and-a-half hours worth of footage. Which would be enough for TWO two-hour specials. Plus, I kind of want Meghan and Harry to do another interview about all of the lazy character assassinations of the past month. Anyway, my point is that I didn?t even get a chance to watch all of the new exclusive clips before now. One of the biggest headlines from the new clips is this one, where Meghan and Harry spoke at length about how the other royals simply didn?t *get* why M&H felt so attacked and vilified.
Meghan Markle thinks the scrutiny she and Kate Middleton received from the British press has one major difference. On Mondays CBS This Morning, more clips from Meghan and Prince Harry bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview aired, including one where the Duchess of Sussex discussed her sister-in-law. Meghan compared the U.K. press coverage of her to the wild, wild West, saying that the negativity spread like wildfire. All of that was compounded, Meghan said, by social media, her race and her nationality, putting things at a noise level that was very different than that of other royal family members.
Unfortunately, if members of his family say, Well, this is whats happened to all of us, or if they can compare what the experience that I went through was similar to Kate [being] called Waity Katie [for] waiting to marry William While I imagine that was really hard and I do, I cant picture what that felt like this is not the same. If a member of his family will comfortably say, Weve all had to deal with things that are rude, rude and racist are not the same.
Additionally, Meghan noted, her husbands family had a press team that goes on the record to defend you, especially when they know somethings not true, and that didnt happen for us.
[From ET]
Meghan?s subtweets of Kate were pretty great. The most immediate callback is when Buckingham Palace truly issued a statement denying Kate?s use of extensions. In recent years, ?never complain, never explain? always takes a backseat whenever Kate wants to deny going to a certain dermatologist for Botox, or when she throws an absolute hissy fit about a Tatler cover story which she authorized and then didn?t like the results. I also feel like there?s the other unspoken drama of the lengths with which Prince William went to shut down the Rose Hanbury stories. The point Meghan and Harry are making is pretty simple: if we were ever defended with the same enthusiasm which you defend Willy?s wandering sceptre or Kate?s hair of lies, then maybe things would be different. And yes, rude and racist are not the same thing.
