As we discussed on Friday, Duchess Kate and Prince William made a big appearance in London on behalf of the British Olympic team. Kate and William are ambassadors for the London Olympics, so I?m hoping that means we?ll be seeing more of them throughout the summer at official functions rather than on extended holidays. Many of you tweeted me about Kate?s up-do on Friday, and many of the tweets followed the same pattern, which was: ?OMG, Kate listened to us! She wore her hair up! You need to convince her to cut down on vacations, wear less eye makeup and bring her button problem under control.? Baby steps, y?all. Her hair is her security blanket, and I think it was very brave of her (?brave? being a relative term, and ?brave? in her own mind) to step out of her sausage curl comfort zone. But yes. Please, Kate. Ease up on the eye makeup. And the buttons. And stop taking so many vacations.
Anyhoodle. This story is a week old, but I thought I would dust it off because it is interesting (to me). The UK?s Now Magazine (like, a really budget tabloid) has a story in which Carole Middleton is allegedly telling people that Kate and William may try for a baby very, very soon. As opposed to next year, when Kate currently has ?baby-making? scheduled in-between several holidays.
Speculation over when the Duchess of Cambridge will get pregnant has been rife ever since her wedding day last year. But Now can reveal that Kate Middleton, 30, and Prince William, 29, are about to start trying for a baby after her mum Carole Middleton let the news slip to a pal last week.
‘Carole said Kate isn’t pregnant yet but wants to start trying soon,’ reveals our insider. ‘Carole smiles when she’s asked about a Royal baby and is clearly looking forward to being a grandmother.’
Royal commentators have previously insisted the couple wouldn’t try for a baby until 2013 because of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the London Olympics and a host of other engagements this year. But now it sounds like it could be sooner.
Our source says: ‘Carole said Kate can’t believe how perfect her first year of marriage has been. A pregnancy would be the icing on the cake for them.’
[From Now Magazine]
A few weeks ago we debated Carole Middleton?s role in her daughter?s ascension to royalty, and whether Carole is some kind of royal-whispering Svengali. I know what I?m about to say sounds anti-feminist and very, very dated, but I wouldn?t be surprised at all to learn that Carole Middleton was encouraging her daughter to get pregnant sooner than later to solidify her (Kate’s) position within the royal family. Do you know what I?m trying to say? It seems like motherly advice, especially when that mother is Carole Middleton and she bankrolled and manipulated her daughter?s way into the highest echelon of UK society. Carole wants Kate to have a baby because Carole has her eye on Kate?s position within the royal family, and she wants Kate to lock this thing down with a (baby) bow on top.

OMG, two public events within 24 hours?! There won?t be a vacation long enough for Duchess Kate and Prince William after this grueling week is over! As I covered earlier today, Kate and William were at a charitable screening for the film African Cats last night. I wasn?t crazy about Kate?s familiar-seeming Matthew Williamson dress. And she decided to go with another familiar-feeling look today. Her suit/dress is by Rebecca Taylor – the textured blue reminds me of the Missoni coat she wore for a photo-op with the Queen last month. It?s not a repeat, and it?s not the same look, but Kate does love her blues, and she loves some nubby, textured fabric. Look, she?s got matching blue pumps too! I don?t think she?s a shoe person – I?m not either, so I give her a pass.
I was looking around for a good shot of Kate?s ?blinged out? poppy pin, but her hair was covering the poppy in most of the photos. When you see British people wearing any kind of lapel poppy, it?s in honor of the Royal British Legion, or veterans in general. You can read more about Kate?s sparkly poppy pin here. The London event today was for a group of servicemen who ?recreated the Scott-Amundsen race to the South Pole.? Later today, Will and Kate will attend an event for the Imperial War Museum Foundation.
Will and Kate?s first wedding anniversary is Sunday. They don?t have any public appearances for the day, and UK gossip says that they?ll be spending some of their anniversary at a party with friends. My guess? They?ll totally manage to find the time to take an anniversary vacation.

Fresh off of attending the UK premiere of "African Cats" the previous evening, Prince William and Kate Middleton were back in the public eye as they arrived at Goldsmith Hall in London, England earlier today (April 26).
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were in the house for the Scott-Amundsen Centenary Race to the South Pole, which raises cash for the British Legion.
With Kate looking fabulous in a blue tweed jacket paired with a matching knee-length skirt while toting an Anya Hindmarch clutch, she and Will are later scheduled to make their way to a ritzy reception at the Imperial War Museum for the debut of the Centenary Commemorations.
Meanwhile, with their anniversary quickly approaching, a source close to Will and Kate leaked that their evening will likely be low-key and romantic.
"William is cooking for them. It's a joke between them that his culinary skills were what originally wooed Kate all those years ago. They'll probably watch a DVD and reflect on the past year. They really are old before their time, and it's not very glamorous, but they're very happy."

Spending the afternoon on the red carpet, Prince William and Kate Middleton stepped out for the UK premiere of "African Cats" held at the BFI Southbank in London, England on Wednesday (April 25).
With her royal husband holding an umbrella to keep his lady dry, the Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning in a neutral colored dress with turquoise stones decorating the quarter sleeves while her husband donned a dark suit, white shirt and red tie.
The couple are guests of honor for the screening of the Disney documentary, which follows a pack of lions and family of cheetahs while all proceeds from the event are going to the UK-based conservation charity, Tusk Trust.
The charity supports endangered animals across Africa by educating local communities about how to live alongside the wildlife and, as a patron of the charity, Prince William is expected to give a brief speech towards the end of the event.

| Will Duchess Kate receive all of Princess Diana's sapphires for her anniversary' | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I just spent way too much time looking through Duchess Kate photos. I?ve tried to select some of the best shots of her jewelry. From my extensive research from the photo archives (about 15 minutes worth of research), I?ve come to the conclusion that Kate has two favorite pairs of earrings which she wears for nearly every public outing, at least over the course of the past three months. One pair – the pair she?s worn for nearly every public outing lately – is the pair she got for Christmas from Prince William. Those are the lovely drop earrings which are allegedly some light-colored green amethysts. But for one appearance, she wore sapphire drop earrings, and this report from In Touch claims that William gave her those as well. While the amethysts were bought new by William, apparently the sapphires are part of a whole set that was once owned by Princess Diana, and William is slowly giving Kate all of the sapphire pieces to go with his late mother?s sapphire engagement ring. Creepy? Or sweet?
He?s already given her something no other man could ever match – the adoration of an entire nation. But Prince William isn?t the sort to slack off when it comes to treating his sweetheart.
Last summer, he gave Kate Middleton a pair of his mother?s favorite diamond-and-sapphire earrings – and a royal insider tells In Touch that on their first anniversary on April 29, the Duchess of Cambridge will likely find herself in possession of a priceless heirloom.
?I expect William will definitely give Kate more jewelry,? the insider says. ?Very likely a piece from Princess Diana?s extensive private collection.?
William?s already given Kate a pair of diamond-and-sapphire earrings which were Diana?s, and which match Kate?s sapphire engagement ring. It seems likely that Diana?s sapphire necklace is next.
And if the idea of being slowly covered in her later mother-in-law?s ?80s-ear gemstones seems less than thoughtful, consider that William is always careful to tell kate she?s free to alter them at will, to make sure they suit her. In fact, she turn the earrings, originally studs, into drop earrings. No wonder she?s a fashion icon!
[From In Touch Weekly, print edition]
In Touch also says that Will and Kate plan to spend their anniversary alone. Alone except for all of the jewels! I seriously don?t admire much of Kate?s life, but I am extremely jealous of her current crop of jewelry, and all of the jewelry she?s going to receive over the course of her marriage. Not to mention all of the jewelry she simply gets to borrow and play with from all of the royal archives! GAH!!!!!!!! That is why you spend nine years Waity-ing. So that one day you can cover your bed with diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, amethysts and more, and you can roll around on all of them naked. Or something. Well played, Waity.

| Duchess Kate is 'uncomfortable' with all of the speculation about her womb | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
First thing – I kind of love that American media outlets still consistently refer to the Duchess of Cambridge as ?Kate Middleton?. She was ?Kate Middleton? for nine years as Prince William?s girlfriend, and so many of the American photo agencies and American media outlets simply don?t want to use her fancy title. To be fair, I don?t like using her title either. It takes up too much space in headlines, and it?s a bitch to type out ?HRH Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge? when everyone knows you?re just taking about ?Waity? or ?Kate?.
As for the real story – Kate?s neverending pregnancy speculation. People Magazine put Kate?s womb front and center on their cover this week, claiming that Kate might be preggo right now, or that she will be soon. Meanwhile Us Weekly ran a counter-claim from royal ?sources? about Kate NOT being pregnant and not looking to be pregnant for a while. There was even more speculation this week too – Star Magazine has a story about Kate eating a ?carb-heavy? diet in an attempt to gain weight (to get preggo) and Star also speculated that Kate will undergo IVF to get knocked up with an heir. All of this speculation has upset poor Kate, according to even more speculation from Us Weekly?s royal sources.
Kate Middleton became the subject of pregnancy rumors shortly after tying the knot on April 29, 2011 — and it’s starting to take its toll on the 30-year-old Duchess of Cambridge.
“The constant rumors about Kate being pregnant, or not being pregnant, make her feel uncomfortable,” a source close to Middleton tells Us Weekly. “Seeing stories that talk about her health is really hurtful. It’s difficult to just ignore them.”
Though Middleton “understands that there is interest,” given her new life in the public eye, “certain [outlets] push things too far,” the source explains.
“This week there have been stories about IVF, baby buzz speculation and what not. Usually they don’t mind anything that is written, but this is a little different because it’s so personal.”
Middleton’s husband, Prince William, 29, is doing his best to console her. “William doesn’t like to see her get bogged down about these things,” the source tells Us.
It seems that, for now, a royal baby announcement is a long way off. “They have only been married for one year and they are not rushing to have a baby,” the source says. “Both William and Kate want their first child to happen naturally and at the right time.”
[From Us Weekly]
I have mixed feelings about this. On one side, it?s her body and yes, all of this speculation is rude and kind of creepy. Plus, we don?t even know if this is how Kate really feels, although? I think it?s keeping with a certain storyline that the Palace keeps pushing: Kate and William are so industrious, hard-working, quiet people and they love children and poor Kate is just a poor little victim (just a GIRL at a mere 30 years old!) and everyone wants to make sure that she doesn?t suffer (which is why they go on vacation all the time). On the other side? Kate married into one of the most public families in the world, and her biggest ?royal duty? is providing an heir. Of course there is going to be pregnancy speculation. The British people feel like they ?own? the royal family (which they do, considering the royal family is subsidized by British taxpayers), and as such, they feel like they?re entitled to know about the comings and goings of Kate?s womb. Still? it wouldn?t hurt to take the speculation down a notch, especially since most people think it will be another year before there are any big announcements.

| Duchess Kate makes her first public speech at a hospice opening: how did she do? | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?ve been waiting for a few hours to see if we would get the new photos of Duchess Kate, but we haven?t. So these are just some more photos of Kate from last week?s outing for that Children & the Arts charity thing, the one she did with Camilla and Charles. You can see the new photos of Kate here, at The Mail. Kate borrowed a dress from her mother! It?s a royal blue Reiss dress, and yes, it?s very, very buttony. Kate got her Button Problem from her mother. She comes by it genetically.
Really, though, I just wanted to talk about Kate?s first public speech! She made her first speech (as a duchess) at the opening of the East Anglia Children?s Hospice, outside London today. We already heard her speak during her engagement interview back in 2010. At the time, some of Kate?s old classmates commented on her ?new voice? – it seems like part of Kate?s ?princess lessons? were some diction and elocution lessons which gave her a more ?clipped? accent. I think Kate has probably done hours of work just to make this short speech:
According to People Mag?s sources, she wrote it herself. Which? I don?t really believe. I think she had a hand in it, sure. But I just don?t believe that some staffers didn?t help her, or that even this short speech wasn?t vetted by the Palace. She says, in part, ?I am only sorry that William can’t be here today. He would love it here? A view of his ? that I share ? is that through teamwork, so much can be achieved. What you have all achieved is extraordinary? I had a pre-conceived idea as to what to expect. Far from being a clinical depressing place for sick children, it was a home. Most importantly, it was a family home, a happy place of stability, support and care. It was a place of fun? [The work you do is] inspirational, it’s a shining example of the support and care that is delivered,” and added, “The feelings you inspire ? feelings of love and of hope ? offer a chance to families to live a life they never thought could be possible.”
As for her manner? well, she did fine for her first speech. She seemed nervous, and she kept checking her notes – but that?s why you have notes. Because when you?re speaking in front of an audience, sometimes your mind goes blank. I think her manner inspired sympathy, but I?d personally like to see her elocution lessons toned down a bit. She seemed like she was trying too hard to remember all of her coaching. She would be better if she was encouraged to be more natural, even if that means speaking with her normal voice, in her normal accent.

| Duchess Kate goes green & shamrocky for St. Patrick's Day: gorgeous or meh' | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

God, I love when Duchess Kate wears jewel tones. They suit her coloring so, so much. I would love to see her in rich reds, blues and greens all of the time. These are photos of Kate at an event yesterday for the Irish Guards (the dudes in red, with the bearskin hats). It?s an annual thing – every St. Patrick?s Day, a royal ?presents? shamrocks to members of the Irish Guards. Or something? they get medals, and they get a pint of beer. Kate wore this gorgeous Emilia Wickstead dress? beautiful color. Great length on Kate. There seems to be a bit too much fabric gathered at the waist, which makes me wonder if Kate should have gone down a size (maybe to 00?). I also love her hat (by Lock & Co.). Kate?s so lucky to have a face for hats – so many Englishwomen can do hats properly, and so few American women can. Also, Kate just needs to wear hats more often because it keeps her from fooling with her hair during public events.
Oh, and her gold shamrock pin? It once belonged to the Queen Mum. I?m guessing that after the Queen Mother?s death, it went into the royal jewelry archives, where the Queen lends it out to royal ladies for special occasions. Either that or someone actually gave Kate that pin to keep. The Queen? Prince Charles? William?
You can read more about the event here, at The Mail. It seems like 40 officers were pre-selected to receive shamrock boutineers/corsage things. The Irish Wolfhound mascot got a shamrock corsage too! Is that a dog or a small pony? Also – after the formal ceremony, Kate joined some of the men for a private luncheon, where she was photographed sipping sherry.
Last year, Prince William was made a Colonel of the Irish Guard, and he wore the red uniform for his wedding to Kate. I?ve heard that the Queen insisted on that – that William wear the red jacket of an Irish Guard. I heard that William wanted to wear the formal dress uniform of one of his other military ranks, like as lieutenant with the RAF.
