I was looking through these new photos of Duchess Kate today with Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall in London, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Kate was avoiding touching her hair compulsively. And then I got to the photos where she starts fondling her curls, of course. Her hair is her happy place. So far, she?s only been able to do one event without touching her hair. That was the event with the Queen, when Kate couldn?t even be bothered to look at Her Majesty when the Queen spoke to her. Anyway, these are photos from Kate and Camilla?s trip to the the Dulwich Picture Gallery. Because Kate is a patroness of the arts! She and Camilla also met with kids involved with The Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts (Prince Charles? thing).
Her dress is by Orla Kiely, and at first, I thought it was the same coatdress that she wore to the National Gallery a few weeks ago. But it?s not. It?s just similar in its cut and color. I don?t like the black appliqu stuff on the top – it?s too fussy for someone so young, but I think Kate loves the really ?fussy? stuff. Kate also wore Orla Kiely in February – that brown and cream ?dove? dress that kind of sucked. This dress was actually her second costume of the day – earlier today, she wore Pink jeans at an event for? something. Field hockey. You can see some photos here – Kate looks cute, but I wish she would wear a different cut of jeans other than ?skinny?. Does this count as two events in one day? That?s what she?s averaging since William?s been gone – one day a week of public work.
Is it even worth discussing how Kate still flashes her engagement ring with purpose at every public event? Yes, Kate. You got the ring. We understand. Is it even worth discussing the fullness of her hair? It looks really healthy, I?ll give her that. I?m not touching the makeup issue right now. She?s not going to change it, y?all. We can complain all we want, but she?s going to keep slathering it on. It’s her thing. In some natural light, her makeup application looks really drag-queeny, though.

She?s settled into Royal life quite nicely, and Kate Middleton has scheduled her very first public speech for later this month.
The Duchess of Cambridge will visit The Treehouse, a hospice center run by East Anglia?s Children?s Hospices on March 19th where she?ll give the address.
While there, Ms. Middleton will take a tour of the grounds and check out the sensory and music rooms, the result of a $5 million donation.
EACH CEO Graham Butland shared, "The visit will showcase the magnificent facilities we can now offer to local life-threatened children and their families, and celebrate the supporters of The Treehouse Appeal. Having our work recognized in this way by Her Royal Highness is not only a tribute to our staff and supporters, but a huge boost for the children, young people and families receiving our care and support."

This In Touch Weekly story gave me an enormous amount of pleasure. Not that I?m cosigning it, and not that I think it?s 100% genuine, but I just enjoy that the tabloids are playing catch-up on the fact that Duchess Kate is much less than the sum of her propaganda. In Touch?s ?royal sources? claim that Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, thinks Kate is rather dull. And lazy. And dumb. And vain. This actually isn?t the first time we?ve heard about the Queen?s questioning of Kate?s work ethic – it was widely reported (by legit and tabloid sources) that several years before William proposed to Kate, the Queen wanted to know if Kate was ever going to get a real job. The Queen thought it was unbecoming for a young, unmarried woman to simply spent her 20s waiting around for a prince. And now that Kate has married into ?The Firm,? the Queen is still wondering, ?Seriously, is this woman ever going to do anything??
As if it wasn?t bad enough to be called Waity Katie for eight years, poor Kate Middleton is now known in the royal inner circle as Duchess of Dolittle! Though Kate has appeared at dozens of charity events since marrying Prince William last April, that?s not good enough for Queen Elizabeth II, who?s been complaining of her ?laziness,? a royal source reveals.
Stuck at home while William is in the Falklands, Kate is under pressure to be more like Princess Diana.
A source says, ?The Queen maintains a full schedule of events,? and huffs that Kate isn?t doing the same.
Some of the other complaints?
?She doesn?t get out enough!? – In less than a year, Kate has made 35 appearances at charity events, but that?s nothing to the Queen, who recalls Princess Diana?s superhuman efforts as a new royal – 170 engagements in a year!
?She?s much too vain!? – With all eyes on Kate – and women all over Britain copying her famous hairstyle – she is under tremendous pressure to look her best. Indeed, a royal source shares that she spends four to five hours getting her hair cut and styled.
?She spends too much money!? – Kate caused a stir when she shoed up at a charity event carrying a $1,300 Mulberry bag, and often wears expensive clothes during her few charitable outings.
?She isn?t very bright.? During a viewing of her wedding dress at Buckingham Palace with the Queen, Kate raised royal eyebrows when she asked if priceless antique Faberge eggs were still being made. An uninformed statement for an art history major. Still, Kate will be the first queen to have graduated college!

Basically, the Queen and I are the same person. We have the same complaints, only mine are centered mostly on how Kate prioritizes shopping and salon appointments much more than any royal duty. And of course, I?ve been calling Kate ?hilariously lazy? for years. It?s true – she is. Sigh? I wish I could hang out with Liz and the corgis. We could Mean-Girl the Duchess of Dolittle. ?OMG, her eyeliner,? I would say to the Queen. ?Quite right. She needs to get off ?er arse!? the Queen replies.
And before The Duchess Patrol comes and cries about how Kate is STILL LEARNING, etc, let me just say – sure. I do believe she?s still learning. As I?ve said, there?s a learning curve for new royalty, and I do applaud her for not making any major (or even minor) fumbles when she does do an event. But there are two big issues: one, she isn?t doing enough events. At all. Because she?s lazy. And two, Kate is kind of vapid. I mean? William married her, and she does seem like a ?nice? girl, but she?s not some bright, shining, independent role model. She just… waited. She’s patient. And dull. As we were discussing in the earlier post, when Kate speaks, it?s not like she?s ever blowing people away with her insightful comments or sparkling wit. She says things like, ?I love chocolate. I think all girls like chocolate? and admitting that she doesn?t know how to make a cup of tea. And of course, there?s this video which highlights her lack of? something. Lack of preparation. Lack of concern. Lack of interest. Lack of ability to do anything but stutter talking points.

Fulfilling her Royal duties, Kate Middleton was spotted at the recently renamed Diamond Jubilee Tea Station in Piccadilly, London today (March 1).
The Duchess of Cambridge was joined by Queen Elizabeth II and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall at the former Fortnum & Mason store which was given the new moniker as part of this year?s celebrations marking the Queen?s Diamond Jubilee.
And all three ladies opted for different shades of blue for their attire as they posed for pictures outside the 305-year-old store.
The Mayor of London Boris Johnson and a group of animal rights protesters also showed up for the occasion. The animal rights folks were campaigning against foie gras sales.
Meanwhile, the Queen and 150 guests had tea to commemorate the Piccadilly district?s inclusion in the Diamond Jubilee.

With all eyes on her so frequently, Kate Middleton typically plays it safe in the fashion department, but a few students from England?d De Montfort University are competing for a chance to design some shoes for the Duchess.
Coming up on March 8th, six pupils will present their fancy creations to Middleton when she visits the school?s town of Leicester with Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Phillip.
The competing individuals range in age from 20 to 27 and, according to UsWeekly, are looking to dress Kate in various styles from plaid booties to English rose-adorned peep-toe heels.
One of the lucky participants, Tabatha Duffield, told the Daily Mail, "I wanted something feminine and elegant to reflect her personality," when discussing the inspiration for her design of elegant heels adorned with laser-cut flowers.

Duchess Kate and Prince William got a puppy a few months ago. I don?t think I ever discussed it, because we didn?t have the photo set – you can see a months-old photo of William, Kate and the puppy here, talking a walk together in Wales. It took a while to even find out how this puppy came around – he?s a cocker spaniel, and sources claim that ?He belongs to a litter of cocker spaniels from one of Carole Middleton’s friends near home. William and Catherine fell in love with the pup instantly and it wasn’t long before they decided to keep him.? They ?fostered? the puppy for a short time to see if he fit in with their lives, and considering how little Kate does in general, I guess she had the time to spend with a gregarious little dog who happens to be adorably ALL PAWS.
Anyway, it wasn?t until yesterday that we actually found out with Will and Kate named the dog. Yes, for real, this is a gossip story. In lieu of royal babies, people will accept royal animal stories. While Kate was doing her appearance at The Art Room, she told students that she and Will named the puppy? LUPO!!! Probably after Jeremy Sisto?s character in the last seasons of Law & Order, correct? He played Det. Lupo, yes? Just name the puppy ?Sisto? and get it over with! Once again, a ?source? told the media, “There is no significance in it apart from they liked the name.” Here?s more:
Duchess Kate loves being Lupo’s mommy! During Kate Middleton’s Tuesday visit to two schools in Oxford — in her official role as patron to the Art Room charity — the royal couldn’t helping but gush about her newly adopted puppy, Lupo.
Visiting first with kids at Rose Hill Primary (located in one of the most deprived areas of England, with 48 percent of students speaking English as a second language, and with 50 percent special needs), Kate, 30, received doggy treats and a stuffed dog from students.
“I will call it after my dog,” Kate (wearing a brown Orla Kiely coat dress and brown ankle boots) said of the toy. “Lupo!”
Explains a source of Kate and Prince William’s chosen name (Italian for “wolf”) for their pet: “They picked it because they liked it. No other reason.”
Wearing “Duchess Catherine” apron in an art room class, Kate spoke about her husband’s current military stint in the Falkland Islands. “She was explaining how they have been speaking,” an observer says. “And William said he has seen penguins!”
Interacting with the kids in the art class, the royal was a natural, Art Room manager Lisa Hancock told Us. “She had all the right language and was very calm and gentle with the children? She is a young, independent, intelligent woman who really wants to make a difference. I have nothing but respect and admiration for her.”
After Rose Hill, Kate moved on to Oxford Spires Academy School, where was greeted by 1,000 students and lunched with Art Room staffers inside. “The children have been hugely excited and they all feel so proud she has visited this school,” headteacher Sue Croft said.
Added student Saif Omer, 11: “She asked me how old I was and which house I was in. She is a very nice woman. Seeing her here is like a dream come true.”

Is this a good PR strategy? I know, I know. I?m giving Kate a lot of credit for being a media specialist, but really, I think she?s very, very conscious of her image, and she and her team (and yes, she has a TEAM) are working very, very hard to project a certain image for her, and to convince people that Kate is: hard-working, diligent, intelligent, independent, and of course, a sad-sack victim (her husband missed Valentine?s Day!!), all with a common touch. Considering I feel she?s rather a lazy, clingy, staff-dependent piece of dry toast, all covered in gigantic buttons and slathered in eye makeup, it?s debatable whether Kate?s team is any good. So how does a dog help? In lieu of a royal baby? It helps – it humanizes her. She looks caring and mothering. People love their animals, maybe even more so in the UK. She?s placating a certain demographic who are hungry for royal babies, because they?re going to have another year to wait. Lupo fulfills many PR needs, doesn?t he? Plus, he?s just cute.

There?s nothing as cute as a little puppy, and Kate Middleton has announced the name of her and Prince William?s furry friend- Lupo.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been thoroughly enjoying pet ownership, and chose the moniker (Italian for ?wolf?) for their black cocker spaniel despite the apparent irony.
Kate slipped and shared the name while she was spending time with disadvantaged kids at Oxford?s Art Room charity locale.
A student approached Ms. Middleton with a stuffed animal dog, and she declared, ?Why don?t we call it after my dog? He?s called Lupo.?

Oh, Duchess Kate is going to work her fingers to the bone! Kate has done yet another royal gig – since Prince William left for the Falklands, she?s averaging one a week, isn?t she? It?s not a breakneck pace, but it?s still better then she?s ever done before. These are photos of Kate visiting The Art Room today in Oxford, England. Kate wore shades of cream and chocolate – her dress is by Irish designer Orla Kiely, and the print is allegedly ?doves?. Kate paired the dress with brown tights and brown ankle booties, with her hair down of course. Her raccoon eye makeup seems more subdued, as does her usually overdone sausage curls. As a history of art graduate she has always had a passion for the subject. Today the Duchess of Cambridge put her love into practice on her first public engagement as royal patron of The Art Room, which encourages confidence in disadvantaged children.
Wearing the now sold-out Birdie jacquard shirt dress by designer Orla Kiely with brown opaque tights and brown suede ankle boots, Kate, 30, was greeted on her arrival in Oxford by dozens of children waving flags and holding flowers during a short walkabout.
The Duchess’s first visit of the day was to Rose Hill Primary School, where she donned a special pinny with the name ‘Miss Catherine’ embroidered on the front. The area is one of the most deprived in the country and of the 340 pupils at the school 48 per cent speak English as a second language and 50 per cent have a special need. Many are challenged by both.
The Art Room works with children to increase their self-esteem, self-confidence and independence through art. Many of the children are disengaged from mainstream education, disruptive or withdrawn and all have been identified as needing time away from their school. The charity?s emphasis is on teaching life skills while encouraging children and young people to both relate and engage with each other.
The Art Room employs senior practitioners who are trained in psychotherapy, art, teaching and social work. The charity currently works in Oxford and in north London.
At Rose Hill Primary School, The Duchess of Cambridge will join eight children who will be working on the poem The Owl and The Pussycat by Edward Lear. This is a poem that The Art Room uses regularly to incorporate literacy and to discuss travel, relationships, fantasy and ultimately a good way of getting the children to talk. The children will be painting part of the story that they wish to represent onto a canvas.
The Duchess will have the opportunity to talk to all the children as well as observe how The Art Room uses ‘art as therapy’ to help the children manage their difficulties and challenges and help them to communicate and ultimately to re-engage into mainstream education. The Duchess of Cambridge became Patron of The Art Room in January 2012.
Later she will visit another Art Room project at the Oxford Spires Academy School. The round-table session will begin with a presentation by two teenage graduates of The Art Room. The Duchess will then be invited to take part in a training session and round-table discussion about what art as therapy is.
Juli Beatie, who founded the charity ten years ago, said she was thrilled by the Duchess’ s patronage: ‘It is overwhelming. We are one of the smallest charities in the country and the difference she has made already is incalculable. She is a young, independent, intelligent woman who really wants to make a difference.’

Kate made a good appearance, she seemed engaged and interested (as opposed to just staring blankly at people, playing with her hair and blinking furiously, otherwise known as ?The Middleton Method?), and I?ll give her solid marks for showing such an interest in such a wonderful charity. Stepping out for another public appearance, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, paid a visit to the Rose Hill School in Oxford, England on Tuesday (February 21).
With hundreds of locals gathering around the educational center's grounds, the wife of Prince William greeted onlookers before heading inside as she continues to help endorse the Oxford-based charity The Art Room.
With Kate being a patron of the organization, The Art Room is driven by "using art to help children with issues such as low self-esteem and Asperger's syndrome."
One of The Art Room's trustees, Pat Norman, said of getting the royal backing of Duchess Catherine, "It's very special that we have her patronage. The duchess brings us into the limelight in a way we probably could never have hoped for."
After finishing up at Rose Hill, the 30-year-old is set to make a second stop at Oxford Spires Academy School.

Here are some photos of Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, doing her second solo event. And by ?solo? I mean ?without William but with extensive staff surrounding her.? William is still in the Falklands, so poor, depressed Kate has no choice but to do some charity work. Last week, Kate went to a preview event of a Lucian Freud exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery, where she is a patroness. Today she made an appearance in Liverpool at The Brink Bar, ?Liverpool’s first non-alcoholic bar.? The bar is run by Action on Addiction, another one of Kate?s new charities.
As for the fashion, it seems like Kate is wearing all-black underneath a rich, chocolate coat. Black turtleneck, black skirt, black tights and black shoes, all underneath a discounted wool crepe brown belted coat from Hobbs. The coat originally retailed for something like $550, but it?s believed that Kate bought it half-off. Because she?s always shopping, and she likes a good deal. Here?s more about the Liverpool events:
With William thousands of miles away in the Falkland Islands, Kate would have been forgiven for spending this Valentine’s Day cuddled up at home with her new cocker spaniel for company. Instead, the glamorous Duchess of Cambridge donned a 369 belted coat from high street store Hobbs and proved her mettle as a working royal with a solo tour of a host of Liverpool’s charities.
Crowds lining the streets cheered and waved flags, while eight-year-old Jaqson Johnston-Lynch practised the speech he plans to give to Kate when he hands her a Valentine’s Day cupcake and flowers later today.
Her first stop was The Brink, an alcohol-free bar set up for recovering addicts that is run by Action on Addiction charity, for which Kate is a patron. The organisation helps addicts recover from drink and drug dependency. Looking relaxed, Kate shook hands with staff and met community leaders as the bar’s resident choir – made up of recovering addicts called the Raucous Caucus Recovery Chorus – serenaded her with a traditional native American Indian song titled Wings Of A Dove.
Michael Edwards, 32, from Kensington, Liverpool, and a member of the choir, said: ‘It’s a song about hope and happiness.
‘I got involved in the choir because I’m in recovery from drugs and alcohol. Doing this, it’s built my confidence, it’s risen up. I didn’t have any before. It’s a bit scary with a royal audience but this is what the choir has done for me, to give me the confidence to sing in front of people. Everybody has been excited here for weeks because of the royal visit, that something this good is happening here.’
During the visit, Kate was given a Valentine’s Day gift by eight-year-old Jaqson Johnston-Lynch, who presented the Duchess with a bouquet of red roses, a cupcake and a Valentine’s Day card. Speaking shortly before Kate’s arrival, he said: ‘I have wrote in the card ‘Dear Kate, Happy Valentine’s Day, I love you, from Jaqson’. I’m also giving her some flowers, red roses, and little cupcake.?
Jaqson, who attends St Vincent de Paul School in Liverpool, said he had a little speech prepared.
‘I’m going to say ‘Happy Valentine’s Day, your Royal Highness. I’m sorry Prince William can’t be here’.’
Later today, her Valentine’s Day visit will take her to the Alder Hey Children’s hospital where she is set to meet the six-year-old victim of a rare heart condition. The hospital is the busiest children’s hospital in the UK, providing care for more than 200,000 children each year.

That Mail article has a lot more information about various people that Kate will be meeting on her Liverpool trip. I don?t know if this is a multi-day trip, or if Kate is simply packing a ton of activities into one day, and then going home to London tonight.
Kate also told little Jaqson that William sent her a card and flowers for Valentine?s Day. What, no jewelry?!?! Isn?t that the whole reason to marry a prince – to get the jewelry?
PS? the eyeliner is still a big problem, right? If anything, I think she?s wearing MORE makeup than usual.
