Taking time off to focus on her own music and family, Shakira will not return to her coaching position on season 5 of "The Voice."
In an interview with Us Weekly, the pint-sized songstress explained, "I'm not going to be able to do next season because I have to get back to my motherhood and also get back to the studio, the recording studio, to finish my album, the one that I started working on before I had to deliver a baby and before I took this gig with 'The Voice.' So yeah, I have to take a little break. But you never know, I might come back!"
In an interview with TODAY.com, the 36-year-old singer said of her son, Milan, "He deserves a break, and that's why I'm going to take a break for next season.?
Though Carson Daly did confirm that Christina Aguilera will return for the upcoming season, the reports that Cee Lo Green is also coming back were not confirmed.

Taking care of her reality show duties, Shakira showed up at a special live performance event celebrating the Top 12 artists on ?The Voice? last night (May 8).
The ?Hips Don?t Lie? lady joined Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Usher on stage for an amazing set, looking cool and confident as she sang her heart out.
Meanwhile, Shakira has been dealing with the struggle of getting back into her pre-baby shape, all the while trying to take care of her myriad career obligations.
She explained, ?It?s part of motherhood, you know. You got to figure it out as you go,? adding "I still have a long way to go. I still have a few pounds over to lose. I look decent."
As for her son Milan, Shakira noted, ?He?s great. He?s so mellow, but he?s very alert, too. It?s like he knows what?s going on around him. He knows when someone comes in the room or comes out. He?s something.?

Here are some photos of Shakira at her perfume launch last month in Paris. Notice that she is wearing leather pants after having given birth in late January to her first child, a baby boy named Milan. I’m always struck by Shakira’s offbeat beauty, but I just have to say that I miss her as a brunette. She looks so much better with her natural hair color than that straw-colored mess that she’s been sporting for the past handful of years. Go back to brown, Shakira!
As part of a recent NBC promotion where Shakira was in attendance as part of “The Voice” judging panel, Shakira talked a lot to Us Weekly about how how reality as a mother compares to her expectations. Naturally, the subject of post-baby bodies came up too, and here are some excerpts:
On the reality of a baby: “I didn’t expect babies to need so many diapers! Nobody told me they needed to be changed so often! I mean he’s a great, great baby. He’s an easy one, I think. But nobody told me it would be this hard. It takes a lot of energy from you. But I love it, I’m really enjoying every bit of it. It’s just that it’s not as idyllic as everybody tells you, but also not as horrible as everyone tells you.”
On getting her pre-baby body back: “I mean, I guess our mothers and grandmothers weren’t under the pressure that women of today are after delivering a baby. My dad says that there’s nothing better than a little meat on the bone! He likes my mom a little chubby. So she was never under the pressure to get back to her old weight, and she never did, actually! But it’s different, I have a career, and that’s the only part that’s been a bit stressful because I knew that I’d have to come back here to do ‘The Voice’ two months after I delivered a baby. I didn’t have my four months maternity like every woman on earth has. So I’m not trying to complain, but it’s been a process full of challenges in my life. I’m still a few pounds over! Zumba has been pretty great for me even during pregnancy. I did it almost until the end.”
Balancing motherhood & work: “Thank God the father is very involved. He has been amazing. The baby spends as much time with me as he does with his dad. He’s the kind of dad who’s full hands on. He changes diapers, he bathes him, he enjoys playing with the baby, he enjoys feeding him, all of that stuff. So that’s great help for me, you know. I can’t imagine doing all of this and not having the father do his part of the job. So that’s a huge help to me.”

First off, I think that “four months of maternity” is a myth … at least in the United States. Twelve years ago, I got six weeks paid leave in my then-salaried job, but I could have chosen to take up to three full months at incrementally lower percentages of pay as the time passed. Is that how it still works? I don’t plan on having any more kids, so it shall remain a mystery to me. One kiddo is enough for my attention span, thank you very much.
As for Shakira “complaining but not complaining” about how soon she returned to work after giving birth, well, that was totally her choice. Nobody made her sign onto replace Christina Aguilera last September when she was already four or five months pregnant. Shakira is a multi-millionare already, so she could quit working right now and have enough money to live on forever. Obviously, she wants to work, but I’m not going to feel sorry for her at all for voluntarily starting a new gig immediately after becoming a first-time mother.

Toting around her bundle of joy, Shakira headed over to a Los Angeles salon on Tuesday (April 9).
The ?Hips Don?t Lie? singer donned a leather jacket with a matching hat as she kept her son Milan close to her chest with her little face covered.
In career news, Shakira?s presence on ?The Voice? reportedly provided the singing competition with an extra boost in ratings.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the show?s ratings are up at least four percent equating to 13.7 million viewers and a 4.9 rating among adults 18-49.

Making the most of her time in the City of Lights, Shakira showed up at Sephora on the Champs Elysees this afternoon (March 27).
The ?Hips Don?t Lie? hottie greeted a ton of fans that showed up for her massive launch of the new fragrance ?S,? looking stellar in an all-black ensemble.
Earlier in the day, Shakira caused quite a stir as she arrived at Le Bourget Airport following a long transatlantic flight.
As for her new gig on ?The Voice,? the Columbian singer made quite an impression during Monday night?s premiere and expectations are high for the season ahead.

Showing some love to her French fans, Shakira made her arrival at Le Bourget Airport outside of Paris earlier today (March 27).
The ?Laundry Service? songstress seemed to be in good spirits as she waved to the shutterbugs, sporting a black captain?s hat along with a black jacket and white blouse.
On Monday night (March 25) Shakira made her big debut as a new coach on ?The Voice,? filling the vacancy left by Christina Aguilera.
When it came time to snag the sweet-singing Kris Thomas, she played it cool so as not to draw too much attention to her choice- "I know you guys. I gotta keep it under control otherwise you all turn and then make my life miserable," she declared to her co-coaches.

One of the negatives about pregnancies is how big you get on account of another human growing inside you and stealing all your nutrients. One of the positives is if you’re 5’2” like Shakira, no one can really tell you’re pregnant. Unless they look at your chest. And keep looking. And keep looking. And keep looking some more until it gets a little creepy and you have to take a restraining order out on them.

Maybe it’s just been a while since I’ve done a post on Shakira, but I’m pretty sure the singer’s boobs have grown since the last time I saw her. And I’m seriously impressed. There can only be two reasons for a jump like this: she’s either pregnant or had work done. And fingers crossed on

Shakira finally gave birth to her first child, a baby boy, named Milan Pique Mebarak with father Gerard Pique yesterday. Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard this announcement since Pique tweeted a fake birth announcement as a joke about a month ago — a move that seemed like bad juju at best. Luckily, everything turned out for the best though since the real deal happened yesterday. Shakira alluded to the happy news on Twitter before reportedly having an induced delivery. It really felt like she was pregnant forever, right?
Shakira is a new mom!
The singer and her man, footballer Gerard Pique, welcomed their first child, a son, today, according to People en Espaol. The wee lad’s name? Milan!
“I’d like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life. Shak,” she tweeted this morning, in both English and Spanish, about the impending birth.
More news as we get it, but we’re wishing the best to the happy family!

Milan is a pretty cute name. I’m not entirely familiar with Spanish culture, but they may have named the baby after the Duchy of Milan, which was once under Spanish rule centuries ago. Oh wait — I just checked Shakira’s website, which states that Milan “means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.” Whatever the reason for the name, congrats to Shakira and Gerard!

Looking adorable with her growing baby bump, Shakira and boyfriend Gerard Piqu attended the presentation of her father's book, "The Wind and Random" in Barcelona, Spain on Monday (January 14).
The pint-sized Colombian pop star wore a black short-sleeved top, black jeans, and black heels as she spoke to support her dad, William Mebarak and his new release.
A memoir of his early life in New York, Shakira lended some star-power by writing the foreword for her Lebanese papa.
In it, the 35-year-old singer says, "In this book, 'Al viento y al azar' I conquered all, from the rebellion of its text, to the brutal honesty of its pages."
