I consistently don?t ?get? the Rosie Huntington-Whiteley thing. I understand why certain models are famous among women – they have that Linda Evangelista chameleon quality, and they?re stunning models overall, like CoCo Rocha or Stella Tennant. And I understand why certain models are famous with men – those are the girls who are really sexy or they have amazing figures, like Doutzen Kroes or Brooklyn Decker. But Rosie? She?s not an androgynous chameleon, nor is she really a ?bombshell? in my opinion. She?s tall and slender and she has big lips and a rather strange ?look? overall. I don?t get it. Neither does Rosie, apparently. She?s interviewed in the new issue of Harper?s Bazaar, and she talks about how she?s always been rather funny-looking:
Rosie wasn?t always model material: “I was a bit of an Ugly Betty when I was 15,” she says. There she was, a teenager on a farm in Devon, England, dreaming of the glamorous life in London, when she took an internship at a modeling agency, “getting coffee, lighting people’s cigarettes.” It wasn’t until she visited the agency months later and met a new agent that she booked her first job. Not So Ugly Rosie would turn up at castings “in trainers, with braids, a ton of makeup, plucked eyebrows.” Sigh. “I had braces.” The braces, and her baby fat, didn’t stick around. Huntington-Whiteley’s “transition” period happened at 18, when she moved to New York and quickly scored a Victoria’s Secret deal.
The Victoria?s Secret wings: About those mythical wings, she says, “I’d love to wear them for a fancy-dress party sometime. People assume I have wings hanging all over my house, but that,” she says reassuringly, “is not the case.” While the wings don’t exactly scream Steinem, “It’s still such a huge thing for a model.” She adds, “People kind of laugh about it and think it’s irrelevant, but I don’t know a girl in the world who would put those wings on and not feel, just for a split second, very special.”
She?s the new face of Burberry: “To be 21, working with Mario Testino and Christopher Bailey, it was a milestone moment,” she says. This past fall, her bodacious Burberry Body billboard was splashed all over venues as diverse as Herald Square in New York and the Muse d’Orsay in Paris (giving new meaning to impressionism). How many trenches does a Burberry campaign earn a girl, anyway? “I counted the other day; I have 12.” Based in L.A., where she lives with her boyfriend, action star Jason Statham, Huntington-Whiteley is navigating her next transition carefully. “It’s interesting coming from modeling, where women rule the industry, into one where there are so few great female parts and the competition is so much higher.”
Ironic runway walks: Now, though, Huntington-Whiteley has ascended to a level of celebrity where she can model ironically. At parties, she’s been known to rock a runway walk or two. “There’s always a moment when some great song comes on and everyone’s like, ‘Do the runway walk, Rosie!’ And you’re like, ‘No, no, no,’ and then you begrudgingly get up and do your thing.” But maybe she secretly loves it. “Yeah, it might be my little party trick. It always gets applause.”

I get the feeling that Rosie really doesn?t have that much to say about life in general. She?s trying to make herself into a victim of something, which is why she continues to ring the ?I had a difficult childhood? bell – in addition to her repeated claims that she was ?bullied? in her early days as a model. Maybe those things are true – but chica is only 24 years old, you know? Whatever happened to her in her ?childhood? or her ?early years? happened very quickly and then stopped.

I was in a bookstore yesterday, shopping for someone else, and I happened to see the hardback of Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations, and I made a mental note that I needed to add it to my Christmas list that I give my mom. Also on my list? Adele?s new live CD and LL Bean wool clogs (which I love, and I now want in every color). I give my mother a list still, to this day, even though I am well into adulthood because she?s already going to buy me stuff, so it might as well be the *right* stuff, and she prefers that I give her a list anyway, so she doesn?t just buy me endless pairs of socks.
What?s my point? Even when I?m thinking about what gifts I really, really want, I?m a pretty reasonable person - a nice book, a CD, a pair of shoes. That?s all I really want. If I do want something really expensive, I rationalize my way out of the purchase or I just buy it myself, with my own money. I?ve never owned a pair of $700 shoes. I enjoy looking at pairs of expensive shoes, but I can easily rationalize my way out of purchasing a pair. I always enjoy hearing what celebrities consider ?must haves? though - it usually shows how out-of-touch they are, even when I know they really just mean their recommendations from the heart. Let?s take Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who recommends that women save one dollar every week for seven years just so they can buy a pair of Louboutins one day. But you know that seven years from now, a pair of Louboutins will cost 1,200 Apocalypse Romney Bucks!
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley managed to win the hearts of many, many men when she took the reins from Megan Fox to star in the latest ?Transformers? installment, but she has one little secret that helps her put some extra sexiness in her step. Seven hundred dollar Christian Louboutin heels.
?They make me feel like a woman. I feel they make you look very sexy, the cuts are beautiful, the lines, the colors the embellishments,? Huntington-Whiteley gushed to FOX411?s Pop Tarts column at the shoe designer?s book launch at Barney?s in Beverly Hills last week. ?I think he managed to capture something so special for women, every girl should be lucky enough to have them.?
Yet amid this cash-strapped economy, the British supermodel has some words of wisdom for women pining for a pair ? which retail at around $700.
?If you can save up for a pair put away a dollar a week,? she advised. ?It?s worth it girls. It is really worth it!?
(At a dollar a week, that would take approximately 14 years, for those of you keeping score.)
Since getting a taste for rolling cameras, lights and action in Michael Bay?s hit blockbuster, Huntington-Whiteley has caught the acting bug big time, and has high hopes for more movies in the future.
?(’Transformers’) was a huge challenge for me and I think it was the right time in my life to be challenged, I had a lot of fun and learned a lot making it,? she said. ?I would love to work with another great filmmaker again, and I think my dreams are the same as any new actress ? to work with a great cast, and I would love to do something that?s a little different from my role in ?Transformers? ? and something hopefully that will challenge me in a different way.?
Yet when it comes to her personal life, the rising star (and Jason Statham?s squeeze) refuses to complain about the increasing paparazzi and tabloid attention.
?I am very lucky in my life so I don?t wish for anything I don?t have, and I actually manage to get around just fine. I?m just fine,? she added. ?It?s not too much, I manage to avoid it when it?s necessary, but I?m very thankful for everything.?

She means well. She?s trying to convince all of us unwashed masses that this is what we really need - $700 Louboutins, which, granted, lots of ladies do seem to like. I see those nude stilettos on nearly every celebrity lady, so they must be one of the more comfortable and versatile pairs of heels in the high heel universe. I?ll also give Rosie a little bit of credit for not going all Goop on us, patronizing us by saying that not only MUST we buy the shoes, but we just desperately need to (lose some weight and) update our wardrobes with some $1000 blouses. Rosie?s shill was quick and dirty: buy these expensive shoes. The end. Like, ?I am the 1%. You can be like me too if you buy these shoes. Goodbye.? The kicker, of course is that Rosie doesn’t have to pay for Louboutins even though she can afford thousands of pairs - she probably gets all of this stuff for free.
Also, if Rosie actually turns into an in-demand actress, I?ll eat my proverbial hat (I don?t wear a hat, my head?s too big).

Rosie-Huntington Whiteley covers the November issue of German Vogue, and for those who’ve lamented that models (i.e., Gisele “Broccoli” Bundchen) shouldn’t sit for interviews with magazines, you’ll be happy to learn that Rosie does not breathe a word to accompany this photo spread. While I have still rustled up a few stories about her to discuss below, let’s first take a look at the three (?) different covers for this shoot. One features Rosie nude except for a diamond necklace; the next shows only her face; and the third shows her wearing a pretty awesome red leather trenchcoat and nothing else:
Of course, Rosie isn’t just a model but an actress too, and she and her mood lips starred as “the chick” in this summer’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie. During the film’s promotion, Rosie hinted that she wanted a sniff of Angelina Jolie’s career. Well, that hasn’t happened yet because a quick peek at her IMDb page reveals that she has absolutely nothing going on in the acting department in either the current or future tense. However, a sketchy source has revealed to the Mirror that “She’s had offers on the table for roles in Hollywood blockbusters - two serious ones. But she doesn’t want to do that. She’s taking her time for the right script to come along and then she’ll take another role on.” So apparently, Rosie is very selective and doesn’t want to taint the illustrious image that she’s so carefully coveted thus far; that is, writhing in front of a wind machine for a Victoria’s Secret lingerie commercial or running with slo-mo boobs in a Michael Bay movie.
Actually, I’m betting that since Rosie arched her back just right for Michael Bay, her next role will probably be in another Transformers movie. Rosie herself has already predicted that Shia will probably relent and sign on for the next one too, but she adds, “He’ll kill me for saying that.” Probably so, and then he just might claim to have hooked up with her on set the next time he’s promoting a movie because, you know, that’s how Shia rolls. Like a douchebag.
Meanwhile, Rosie is still going strong with the ruggedly hunky Jason Statham, whose fans will be crushed to read of rumors that Jason is planning to propose to his lady love: “Jason is besotted with Rosie and wants to settle down. They could be married as soon as next summer - as long as Rosie says yes!” Ugh. While I don’t deny that Rosie has a bod to die for, she seems so … vacant. Could it possibly be true that Jason feels absolutely fulfilled with a pair of legs that are attached to a silly model? Speaking of legs, here are more of Rosie’s stems in various states of undress:

Making her way back to Mother England, Rosie Huntington Whiteley was spotted arriving at London?s Heathrow International Airport this morning (October 28).
The Victoria?s Secret stunner looked a bit cranky as she strolled out of the terminal sporting a baggy black top with slim fit black trousers and sunglasses.
During an interview at the Hollywood Awards, Rosie hinted that she?d definitely be up for another ?Transformers? movie if the opportunity presented itself.
She explained, "['Transformers'] has opened so many doors for me, and I feel so excited for my future and future ventures and career."

Kaiser has already covered some of the fashion at last night’s Hollywood Film Awards, including Michelle Williams, Carey Mulligan and George Clooney and Stacy Keibler. She’ll be mentioning Anne Hathaway and Emma Stone in a moment. Here we have a few of the other celebrities that lit up the red carpet. No one really impressed me except for Julianne Hough and Viola Davis.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley tried to work a intricately beaded Pucci gown and kind of failed, in my opinion. She’s so hot and she’s gotten it absolutely right so many times in the past. It’s kind of refreshing to see her with messy pulled back hair, minimal makeup and a dress that makes her look more like a rare exotic bird than one of the hottest models around. Even the chick who gets to sleep with Jason Statham looks like crap once in a while.
Elle Fanning, still just 13 years old(!), wore a very conservative off white Valentino dress that could pass as a tablecloth. She accented the look with a Heidi braid. It’s kind of sweet for a kid and while I’m not a fan of the dress, I like that she’s covered up.
Julianne Hough really shone in a tight beige dress with a sequin swirl pattern and a deep v-neck that went nearly to her belly button. In theory I don’t like this dress and find her matchy shoes too much. On her though it worked and she looked amazing. Love her hair and makeup.
Amber Heard vamped it up in a blue silk dress with a dramatic bodice slit. I thought we were about to see sideboob, but it didn’t materialize. As we’ve seen in the past from her, the color seems a little off, but I think it’s more her hair color this time than the colors in her dress. Her hair and makeup are phenomenal though.
Busy Phillips was goofy in an updo and a tight black dress with a sequin boob window. I still love her though. She always looks like she’s having so much fun and would be a blast to be around.
Bryce Dallas Howard does not get a pregnancy pass for this mess. She has no boob support, the dress looks like a nightie, and she may have gone for the soft wave look with her hair but the result is no better than an air dry. Her jewelry and shoes look cheap too. Get it together, Bryce!
Sara Rue showed off her body by Jenny Craig in a purple formfitting gown that was the same shade as Stacy Keibler’s dress. She lost a lot of weight and looks different due to that of course, but what did she do to her face? I get the impression that she had some work done.
Viola Davis was one of the best dressed of the night in this off-the shoulder jade flowing gown that she accessorized perfectly. She’s so well put together without going overboard.

Bringing her beauty to the red carpet, Rosie Huntington Whiteley made a stunning arrival at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Monday night (October 24).
The English model and actress strutted her stuff as she was on-hand for the 15th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Gala presented by Starz.
As for the reason behind her appearance, Miss Huntington-Whiteley happened to be supporting an honoree from the crew of her debut movie "Transformers: Dark Of the Moon".
Rosie cheered her heart away as Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Scott Farrarwas brought onstage to receive the "Hollywood Visual Effects Award" at the festival's annual ceremony.
As for her own career plans, an insider said of the 24-year-old, ?She?s had offers on the table for roles in Hollywood blockbusters ? two serious ones. But she doesn?t want to do that. She?s taking her time for the right script to come along and then she?ll take another role on.?

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley dressed as a topless native American for the November edition of the South African FHM. Quotes next to her spread include, “I love to eat.It’s a really important part of my life,” and “My baby fat melted away as I got older.” Women will love reading this. The fact is, ladies love hearing how supermodels eat all the time and easily keep the weight off and that their fat melts away with age. It certainly does not fill them with self-loathing and doubt.
