Because being bisexual is this year’s owning a third-world oprhan, True Blood actress Evan Rachel Wood has come out as a part-time lady-lover in the May issue of Esquire magazine. Radar Online says:
In a new interview with the magazine, Wood [says], “I was always into very androgynous things. Guys, girls? I?m into androgyny in general. I?m up for anything. Meet a nice guy, meet a nice girl??
So is she switching teams?
When asked by Esquire if she dates women, she proudly stated: ?Yes!?
?I?m more kind of like the guy when it comes to girls. I?m the dominant one. I?m opening the doors, I?m buying dinner. Yeah, I?m romantic.?
How is this news, exactly? We already knew she was bisexual. For chrissakes, she dated Marilyn Manson for the last three years. The only was that dude has balls is if they’re bouncing against his backside while a big black dude in a gimp mask drills him from behind.

Evan Rachel Wood reveals to Esquire Magazine that she’s dated both guys and girls and doesn’t mind if her next relationship is a man or woman. “I’m up for anything. Meet a nice guy, meet a nice girl,” said Wood. She goes on to claim that when she dates a woman, she’s the man in the relationship. Does this mean she’s on top? Boner alert.
- “I was always into very androgynous things. Guys, girls … I’m into androgyny in general.”
- “I?m more of like the guy when it comes to girls. I’m the dominant one. I’m opening the doors, I’m buying dinner. Yeah I’m romantic.”
I echo the sentiment of everyone in the entire universe when I say, video or it didn’t happen. Honestly, releasing a sex tape would be for her own good. You don’t want people thinking you’re just saying this for publicity, right? (This mind game is sooo going to work!)

Evan Rachel Wood is profiled in the new issue of Esquire - these are some of the photos from the shoot. You can read the whole piece, and see the full shoot here. I tend to think that they?re trying too hard to tart her up, but eh, what are going to do? It?s a men?s magazine, and ERW is a sexy girl. In true Esquire fashion, you have to wade through some artsy crap to get any morsels of interest. Here are some of the highlights:
ERW on death: She’s already written a will, she says. And she’s made plans to have her ashes dispersed across the world, including in her native Raleigh ? in a field next to the theater run by her father ? and Paris’s Luxembourg Gardens, which she used to visit with her onetime boyfriend, the actor Jamie Bell. The song playing at her funeral will be Pink Floyd’s “Shine On You Crazy Diamond.”
On tattoos: She’s consecrated both the Floyd song and the ex-boyfriend in ink, as tattoos: a diamond on her right ankle and a “J” on her left ankle. She has nine tattoos in total. [She also has] a Shel Silverstein drawing of a candle on her back? and the word ?unless,? from Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax, on her ribs. (The Edgar Allan Poe verse on her back just below her neck was chronologically plausible but covered up anyway.)
ERW on her reputation as a wild child: “I don’t know!” she says, laughing. “I’m constantly changing, I’m constantly growing. I think I’m a little controversial? … I just try and keep some mystery, so hopefully people can’t really put their finger on it.”
The art of crying on film: She dismisses this skill as “part of the job description,” like a basketball player’s ability to sink free throws. When shooting The Life Before Her Eyes, her director once dared her to shed a single tear out of a single eye as soon as he called “Action.” She obliged, on cue. A half-court buzzer-beater. “I was a teenager in Hollywood with a divorced family ? there’s gonna be pain there,” she says. “I’ve got plenty to draw from.”
On androgyny: “I grew up in love with David Bowie.” (She has a tattoo on her upper thigh to prove it, a heart with an Aladdin Sane lightning bolt.) “So I was always into very androgynous things. Guys, girls … I’m into androgyny in general.” She says this helps explain the appeal of her ex Marilyn Manson. “I think one of the things that freaked people out so much is that we looked so different.”
On Marilyn Manson: If Evan Rachel Wood represents America’s rebellious teenage daughter, Manson represents the forty-year-old goth in a band down the road she would date just to spite us. They broke off their engagement in August. The inevitable residual tattoos: Behind her right ear, the number “15,” a significant one for the two of them. Behind her left, something that looks like a heart combined with an infinity symbol. “You know, ‘Forever Love,’ ” she explains. “Whatever.”
Moving to New York, looking for a new relationship: The end of Wood’s cinematic adolescence will be marked by her first adult role, in George Clooney’s upcoming political film, The Ides of March, due out in the fall. It will also be marked by a move to New York City. She says she’s feeling free and genuinely happy these days. “I’m up for anything. Meet a nice guy, meet a nice girl…” This is the third such hint in the conversation, after that androgyny comment and saying she’d “marry” her Mildred Pierce costar Kate Winslet if she could.
On dating women: “Yes,” she says proudly, as if she was waiting to be asked. Do you look for different things in men than in women? “Yeah, I’m more kind of like the guy when it comes to girls. I’m the dominant one.” It’s with women, she says, that her inner North Carolina gentleman comes out: “I’m opening the doors, I’m buying dinner. Yeah, I’m romantic.”

So she dates ladies. If this was one year ago, I might just dismiss ERW as some Megan Fox-esque tartlet, desperate for attention and willing to play the bisexual card. But? but? but? I don?t know. Evan seems to be highly respected by many big Hollywood people, and her career continues to flourish and grow. I think she?s actually got chops and a really huge, interesting career ahead of her. And I know I shouldn?t say this but? I think out of all of the young girls trying to be the next Angelina Jolie, ERW might actually get there. The Jolie is strong in this one.
In other ERW news, over the weekend I saw The Conspirator, and ERW was one of the best parts of a halfway decent movie. James McAvoy was a ginger-bearded dream, of course, and Robin Wright was solid. Evan really impressed me, though - she really can cry really, really well on film. She?s a shockingly good actress. There were two miscasts though: Alexis Bledel and Justin Long. It was so bizarre to see both of them in period costume. Ugh.

Stepping out for some media duties, Evan Rachel Wood was spotted leaving MTV Studios in New York City yesterday (April 13).
The ?Wrestler? actress looked to be in good spirits as she made her exit to find a few shutterbugs waiting for her.
And though she was once engaged to Marilyn Manson, Ms. Wood now says she has a case of Bieber fever.
"I'm not ashamed to say it, I saw 'Never Say Never,' and I totally have Bieber Fever. It doesn't make any sense to me. I was the last person on earth who would ever be a Bieber fan. But I'm telling you, he got me."

Evan Rachel Wood says she dated Marilyn Manson for four years as a way of having a childhood. She told NYMag,
?We [Wood's mother] had a bad breakup,? she says. ?We hadn?t been apart for more than a week my whole life. We shared a room, we shared a bed. She was constantly by my side, all the time, until the minute I turned 18. I hopped on [Marilyn Manson?s] tour bus, and was like, I?m going to have an adolescence.? As mother-estrangement maneuvers go, appearing in a rock video in which you are doused in gore while making out with your goth boyfriend is hard to beat.
?I didn?t really get a normal childhood,? says Wood. ?Manson gave me what I felt I?d missed out on, where you get to experiment and cut loose and change and grow. I lived 50 lifetimes in those four years.? All of which now lands Wood in an unusual position: While other actresses attempt to exorcise their time in the Mickey Mouse Club by chasing down their dark sides in gritty indie dramas, Wood, whose outr credentials are unimpeachable?even she admits she?s played one too many teenagers and trash princesses?finds herself tacking toward the light. ?I really want to do an adult love story,? she says.
Speaking of an adult love story, in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce, Evan Rachel Wood goes full frontal. Growing up is fun! Granted, this clip from Egotastic would be much hotter if the music didn’t make me think I was watching a play. I started falling asleep before she even got out of bed. NSFW video under the cut.

For quite some time, I was concerned (as were we all) about Evan Rachel Wood, mostly due to her on-off-relationship with Marilyn Manson that lasted four years and eventually ended in a broken engagement. These days, I don’t worry so much about her, for the 23-year old actress seems remarkably resilient after spending a significant (4-year) chunk of her life with, well, the likes of Marilyn Manson. How she made it through the ordeal without some serious PTSD is beyond me, but even during the height of that horrific-looking relationship, Wood was always known for her professionalism and lack of starlet behavior. Refreshing, isn’t it?
Soon, Wood shall be co-starring in The Ides of March with George Clooney, and the girl can even pull off the most fug outfits on the red carpet (as she did at The Conspirator premiere). Meanwhile, she’s winning rave reviews for her performance in Mildred Pierce. Since I don’t have HBO, I’ve not yet watched Pierce, but CB thinks that Wood is great at playing a character that is “truly evil and conniving” in the miniseries. Oh, and remember all of that talk of the merkin affair? Well, you can see that (obviously NSFW) hot merkin action right here if you’re curious.
Wood recently sat down with NyMag to discuss all of her current projects, and the interview took a very enlightening turn towards the topic of exactly why she dated Manson in the first place:
On Impressing Redford: At Evan Rachel Wood’s first meeting with Robert Redford, who was looking to cast her as a Confederate daughter in his Lincoln-assassination drama, The Conspirator (out April 15), the actress fixed her gaze on him intently enough that Redford later told her, “?’You were so intimidating, I had no idea what you were thinking.’ ” Wood exults at the memory. “I was, like, Yeeessss!” she says, performing a reverse elbow-jack to the torso. “I got Redford.”
On Her Role As Veda Pierce: “It’s the hardest role I’ve ever had to do, ever, absolutely,” says Wood, who–even though she wasn’t doing her own singing–trained for months with an opera coach, just to get the breathing and gestures right. Guy Pearce, who shared a trailer with Wood, could hear her practicing her vocals daily. “All I wanted to do was stick my head in and say, Do you mind if I watch?” he says. When they reviewed footage, he says, “Kate and I were looking at each other, and Todd and Kate were looking at one another, going, ‘Oh, wow.’ ”
On Why She Dated Manson: Wood’s own mother was an actress who, upon divorcing her husband when Evan was 9, moved to L.A. and quit acting to become a drama coach and concentrate on her daughter?s career. During the filming of Thirteen, Wood had to banish her from the set in order to shoot some of the R-rated scenes, and when she was 18, she moved to New York to put some physical distance between them. “We had a bad breakup,” she says. “We hadn’t been apart for more than a week my whole life. We shared a room, we shared a bed. She was constantly by my side, all the time, until the minute I turned 18. I hopped on [Marilyn Manson's] tour bus, and was like, I’m going to have an adolescence.” As mother-estrangement maneuvers go, appearing in a rock video in which you are doused in gore while making out with your goth boyfriend is hard to beat. “I didn’t really get a normal childhood,” says Wood. “Manson gave me what I felt I’d missed out on, where you get to experiment and cut loose and change and grow. I lived 50 lifetimes in those four years.”
On Her Alleged Bieber Fever: “I’m really enjoying being single and concentrating on work right now. That and watching the Food Network and listening to Justin Bieber,” she says, showing off her purple Bieber hat, as sure a sign as any that her Manson years are over. “People honestly think I?m kidding about Bieber,” she says. “My mom is so confused. She’s like, ‘Evan, really?’ I’m like, ‘Go see Never Say Never. You’ll understand.’ “
[From NyMag]
Okay, now the Manson relationship makes a bit more sense considering the revelations of Wood’s fairly stifling family situation. Thank goodness she finally woke up and dumped that “shock rocker” loser. I’m still having a hard time believing that she’s truly knocking back with Bieber music in her spare time. How is that even possible? Maybe she’s just messing with all of us.

These are photos from the Washington, D.C. premiere of The Conspirator, the story of what happened immediately after Abraham Lincoln was shot at Ford?s Theatre. The film stars Robin Wright as Mary Surratt, one of the ?conspirators? to the assassination, who was (spoiler) tried and convicted, and then hanged. Robert Redford directed the film, which follows the trial of Mary Surratt. Evan Rachel Wood plays her daughter, and I believe James McAvoy plays Surratt?s lawyer. Anyway, Robin wasn?t at the premiere, but McAvoy, Redford and Wood made it. Guess where the premiere was held? Ford?s Theatre! Where Lincoln was shot, for those who don?t know. According to Page Six, the premiere almost had to be called off because Ford?s Theatre is a federally protected historical site, and the potential government shutdown might have closed it down.
Anyway, Evan Rachel Wood in Jill Stuart. I thought this was vintage at first, but it?s not. It still feels very dated, and I think the fabric is fug as hell? and yet ERW kind of pulls it off.
James was adorable, as always. He?s wearing his favorite pair of jeans - the same ones he?s been wearing for the past six months or so. The boy CANNOT dress. I love it.
Mm? Redford.
Here?s the trailer for The Conspirator. I always thought that Clive Owen should play John Wilkes Booth if they ever made a movie just about Booth. If you look at the old photos, there?s definitely a resemblance.
UPDATE: Robin Wright was at the premiere, I just missed the photos! Whoops, my bad. Here she is in a horribly cut grey suit:

Gaining strength from her on-screen mom, Kate Kate Winslet , Evan Rachel Wood was able to strip down for a full-frontal scene in HBO's "Mildred Pierce."
The 23-year-old "True Blood" star, who plays the daughter of Kate's title character in the HBO miniseries, was so "nervous" about her nude scene she almost didn't do it until she got some help from Winslet, as she told, "I looked at Kate and she was like, 'You?ve got to do it. Trust me, it's so brave. She kind of dared me."
Evan said she felt the need to prove she could pull off a nude scene while she's still young, saying, "I had to do it at least once -- get it all on film now so when I?m 80 I can look back at it and say, Yeah! I did that!"
"Mildred Pierce" is based on James M. Cain's 1941 novel of the same name and revolves around a housewife who attempts to maintain her family's dignity during the Great Depression.

Evan Rachel Wood showed up at the premiere of Mildred Pierce in New York City with “honey-blond” hair. Complimenting her new do, she wore a “plum, long-sleeved jersey Elie Saab gown and vintage-style earrings.” And from that point on I stopped reading Popeater’s description of her new look because I swear I started growing a vagina.
Skipping down a couple lines, I did catch this. Talking about Kate Winslet, her co-star in Mildred Pierce: “She coached me through my first nude scene,” Wood told E! News at Monday evening’s premiere. “I mean, she’s done it all. She was literally next to the camera going [thumbs-up].”
Sweet. Nude scene. Me man! Boobs! Grrr!
