The other day, a video Paula Patton had posted over a month ago went viral. It was of Paula making her mother?s fried chicken recipe. It was not well received, to say the least. People had opinions on all of it ? ALL of it from how she washed the chicken, to how and when she seasoned it, to how she overcrowded her pan. And since fried chicken is such a sacred dish, people came out of the woodwork to weigh in on Paula?s techniques.
Paula is presently on vacation with her son in Mexico minding her own business. Her friends, however, felt she?d had enough peace and tracked her down to let her know that her and her mother?s names were being dragged through the mud. Paula responded in a short video and she was? perfectly delightful. She said she loves her mom?s recipe and that?s just how they do it. But she is open to suggestions for some other recipes as well, although she will also keep making her chicken the way she does because she likes it.
On Tuesday, Patton sweetly brushed off the critics and defended her family recipe in an Instagram video, saying shell still be using her moms technique.
I just wanted to respond and say listen, I get it, it might look crazy. It is the way we do it, Patton said. Its all good, because everybodys got their own way of making things and Ill take suggestions. Ill make a new kind of fried chicken, but Im going to lways make my moms chicken the way that she did it.
We put the seasonings in the oil and all that ? its just the way we do it.

I posted Paulas video below. Its a MasterClass in response to outrage. She?s so gracious about it, I kind of want to try her recipe as a result. I don?t make the fried chicken in our house. My husband does a buttermilk marinade, and his flour has about seven spices in it so his is more in line with everyone else. I heard a lot of you discussing rinsing the chicken with citrus and vinegar and I?ve passed that on to him. Paula did address washing her chicken in the video, by the way. She said she probably edited poorly but assured everyone she does wash her chicken well.
I?m no chef but I questioned the spices in the oil thing that everyone had an issue with. I make oils infused with flavors for cooking. I make them by boiling whatever flavor in the oil, let it cool, filter through a sieve and store it. Then I use that oil when cooking to add that flavor to my dish. I also add spices to broths and water when I boil things in it to enhance flavor. I?m not defending Paula?s spice to oil method, but I?d try it once to see how it worked. I do agree she overcrowded the pan, though. That?s just a headache for her. But she said she was making a big batch for her son?s school so maybe she was in a rush.
Sometimes when you grow up with something, that?s the taste you want. With all due respect and apologies to our Irish readers, I leave the sugar out of my soda bread. My mom omitted it for some reason and now it?s too sweet for me if it?s in there. People who have never had soda bread before love mine. Just depends on what you?re used to _(?)_/.

People were really trashing Paula Patton yesterday! Paula decided to make a little video where she showed off her ?family recipe? for fried chicken and it was a whole mess. First off, too many people were saying ?oh, Paula?s mother is white, that?s why her fried chicken recipe sucks.? No plenty of white folks know how to make good fried chicken. Especially Southern white folks! I feel like not enough people understand that this mess is likely a regional thing and not a racial thing! Trust me when I say that Paula?s fried chicken recipe has likely offended plenty of home-cooks and chefs of all races (Asians too, because OMG).

Making her Manhattan rounds, Paula Patton strolled past a swarm of shutterbugs in the New York City neighborhood of SoHo on Wednesday (October 15).
Always beautiful, the ?Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol? gal sported a black leather jacket and distressed jeans as she waved to the paparazzi and headed inside her home.
Paula finally officially filed for divorce earlier this month and her soon-to-be-ex-husband Robin Thicke reportedly held a wild and crazy divorce party with stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy and Emile Hirsch.
An insider told the New York Post, ?There were a lot of models there. Leo and Robin were being super flirtatious and talking to tons of girls. Robin, in particular, was dancing and talking to a pretty brunette throughout most of the night.?
?At one point, he grabbed a girl?s hand and was like, ?Let?s dance?... he was in great spirits, and put on a mix of music including pop, hip-hop, older stuff from the ?90s and soul. Everyone was dancing until past 3 am.?

It’s over, finally. Paula Patton has divorced her stalker husband, Robin Thicke. They were married for nine years when she filed separation papers in February. Robin and Paula dated for twelve years before getting married, so that’s two full decades of investment. Two decades of putting up with a cheating douchebag. We don’t know if Robin was cheating on Paula all along. Based on his gropey behavior, I’d guess he’s been stepping out for years.
Paula finallly pulled the trigger and has handled the situation remarkably well. She disappeared from the public eye for months and only resurfaced in August. There were moments when it looked like Robin might “Get Her Back.” Thankfully, Paula stayed strong. TMZ has the details:
Robin Thicke tried and tried hard to save his marriage, but it didn’t work. TMZ has learned Paula Patton has filed for divorce … and as for the most important asset in the marriage … she wants joint custody.
Paula cites the usual … irreconcilable differences.
She wants joint legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old son Julian.
The divorce was filed in L.A., so there will be no issues over whether Robin may have strayed. It’s irrelevant.
We’re also told the divorce is “harmonious,” and there are no real issues that will cause a conflict.
Paula says the date of separation was February 21.

It?s been a long time coming, and finally on Wednesday (October 8) Paula Patton filed divorce papers to rid her life of all things Robin Thicke.
The ?About Last Night? actress listed her separation from the ?Blurred Lines? hunk as February 21st, 2014 after being married since June 2005.
As many of her Tinseltown peers have done in the past, Paula cited ?irreconcilable differences? as the reason for the split, and she?s seeking joint custody of their four-year-old.
However, if Ms. Patton has heard Robin?s latest album Paula, it?s possible her ears started bleeding, hence her need to distance herself from Mr. Thicke.

These are photos of Paula Patton attending a post-Emmys gathering on Monday night. These photos are noteworthy because this is the first time our agencies have papped Paula since Oscar weekend in late February. So it’s been six months. Six months since Paula finally had enough of Robin embarrassing her by groping random blondes. In February, Paula formally separated from her douchey husband after nine years of marriage.
Nine years is a long time. Even longer? Paula and Robin dated for twelve years before tying the knot. That’s two full decades of douche. No wonder it took Paula so long to walk away from her womanizing ex. She was strong though. Paula went into hiding and let Robin make a total fool out of himself. I didn’t realize Paula had such restraint. After all, she faked those happy red-carpet smiles for several months after Robin’s alleged infidelities surfaced.
Paula is smiling in these photos. I hope she’s genuinely happy and not simply faking it for the paps. Robin finally gave up on stalking her a month ago. What I’d really like to talk about is this dress. This dress looks like errant venetian blinds. It barely covers Paula’s bits and pieces. I can’t tell if this is the dress of a newly single, victorious woman. It can’t be a “Look at what you’re missing, douchebag” dress. Right?

Robin Thicke has finally given up, y’all. He’s done stalking his estranged wife, Paula Patton, with creepy videos and his “artistic” endeavors. Robin really thought that the #GetHerBack campaign would make Paula forget about him groping randoms and hitting on “young” chicks. It didn’t work, thank goodness. And Robin’s album flopped so hard. His career is now a PR disaster because no one wants to buy an album full of “songs to stalk by.” He may be able to one day salvage his R&B/soul fanbase, but it will take a lot of redemption. As for Robin’s marriage to Paula? He’s finally given up on making it work:
Robin Thicke is waving the white flag … telling people in his camp his marriage to Paula Patton has collapsed.
Thicke certainly gave a strong sign the union is over by listing his L.A. home Monday. Paula has not lived in the house since their separation in February, after that grab-ass pic became public.
Sources connected with Robin tell TMZ … an attorney is already working on a financial settlement — separating assets.
Our sources say, however, neither side has hired a divorce lawyer.
Thicke is saying he will NOT be the one who files for divorce … she’ll have to do it. But he says he’s done begging and is moving on.

The family home really is up for sale. You can see photos of the house here (it looks less tacky than I expected). I am impressed at how Paula has gone off the radar during this whole mess. No one has seen her since Oscar weekend (shortly after they announced the separation). She pulled out of public life and let Robin make a fool of himself like a champ. He did it to himself, so I can’t feel bad for the guy. He probably still doesn’t “get it” either. The only reason he’s waving the flag is because his career is now in the hole. If Paula had been a commercial hit, he’d feel vindicated and wouldn’t have given up yet.
Oh, and I just checked 1-800-Flowers, and they finally pulled their Robin-themed bouquets. Good.

When we last checked in on Paula Patton and Robin Thicke (last week), Paula still hadn?t hired a divorce lawyer and she was ?open? to reconciling with Robin Thicke. Robin was apparently trying to persuade her to come back to him, telling her that he could change and he was already in the midst of changing for her. No more wild partying. No more groping young club girls. No more disrespecting Paula in front of national televised audiences. And Paula is still seeing if he?s for real. That was the holding pattern. Now TMZ reports that Paula and Robin are pretty much back together, sort of.
Robin Thicke has made significant headway in his campaign to win his wife back, because multiple sources directly connected to the couple tell TMZ … Paula Patton is open to giving him another chance.
We’re told Robin and Paula never stopped communicating. They talk constantly, but she was very clear the day she dumped him … she wanted a DIVORCE.
Our sources say the tone of the conversations have changed, and the 2 of them are now talking about what Robin needs to do to convince Paula that the marriage can work to her satisfaction.
She has not hired a divorce lawyer, we’re told, and has no plans to do so. We’re told their phone conversations have been productive. But here’s what hasn’t been productive … she’s not impressed with Robin’s on-stage pronouncements of love.
She is impressed that Robin has been a good dad since the split, seeing their kid when he can and keeping in touch when he’s on the road.
As for the tone of the conversations … we’re told “smooth and cordial.” We’re not exactly sure what smooth means, but you know, they’re both very … smooth.

Gurl, HIRE A LAWYER. Of course he?s sweet-talking you now. Of course he?s putting in the effort NOW. Now that you?ve publicly dumped him and put him on blast. Just remember his wandering hand (not to mention his wandering dong, gurl). Just remember all of his sleazy crap and just call it a day.
Here?s what worries me though: Robin is waging an effective campaign to ?woo? his wife back, which is something that very few celebrity men would do. Most men are too fragile and delicate to come right out and publicly proclaim that they don?t want a divorce and they want to work it out, and begin a public campaign to make that happen. I can see how Paula would be flattered by that and how this has given her what she really wanted: the chance to see how much she means to Robin. That being said, he?s still the same douchebag.

Here are some photos of Paula Patton at the Vanity Fair Oscar after-party on Sunday night. She didn?t go to the Oscars, but Paula was out and about consistently during Oscar weekend, attending (and presenting at) the Spirit Awards, and then making the Oscar party rounds. Her dress is Celia Kritharioti ? it?s pageant-y to me, but I?m also relieved to see that her boobs aren?t jacked up or squished in something much too tight. At the Spirit Awards, she did wear a canary yellow dress that was much too short, but it was fine. It was a good outing for her first post-split red carpet, and bonus: she got flirty with Jeremy Renner.
So, is there any chance that Paula and Robin Thicke are going to get back together? Or were these outings just evidence that Paula is acting like a single lady? I don?t know. I do know that Robin is still acting like he wants her back. While performing in Atlantic City on Sunday, Robin dedicated a cover of ?Let?s Stay Together? to Paula and he?s been telling his audiences: “I want everybody here to know that I’m trying to get my girl back.? TMZ says that Paula isn?t falling for his act, though. At least not completely.
Robin Thicke can cry all he wants on stage about his love for Paula Patton … but it’s not going to change her mind about leaving him … sources tell TMZ. For that … he has to do something else.
Sources connected with the couple tell us … Paula is unimpressed with Robin telling both TMZ and thousands of concertgoers he’s trying to win her back.
Here’s the good news for Robin. Although she TOLD him she wanted a divorce, she hasn’t hired a divorce lawyer yet and she’s open to reconciliation.
BUT … before she takes him back, Robin has to prove his loyalty to her … by his actions. She’s keeping tabs on him at his concerts, watching who he hangs with, which parties he attends — especially the after parties — and what photos surface.
We’re told Paula knows photogs have their cameras trained on Robin, and she views the paparazzi are her private detectives. You know the drill, Robin.

The Spirit Awards has carved out a nice little niche amidst the dozens of other such events this time of year by celebrating artist-driven filmmaking and recognizing the finest achievements of today?s independent filmmakers.
As for the coveted Best Feature trophy, the nominees include ?12 Years a Slave,? ?All is Lost,? ?Frances Ha,? ?Inside Llewyn Davis? and ?Nebraska.?
