Kristen Stewart is the cover girl for the September ?Fashion Issue? of W Magazine. People are already complaining about the amount of Photoshop that went into K-Stew?s pictorial, but I think it?s only aggressively ?Shopped in one photo. Kristen, for all of her real or perceived faults, it generally a great model in fashion photo shoots. I love the vibe of this one - 1960s sex kitten meets Valley of the Dolls druggie. Kristen should consider big hair and dark eye makeup for her red carpet looks, because it really works on her. The full W Mag interview (conducted by Lynn Hirschberg) is here, and here are some highlights:
Kristen on her start as a child actor: ?It?s weird, because I would be the last person in my school to be in plays, but I was forced to sing a song in a school thing. I sang a dreidl song, which is funny for me. I?ve never celebrated Hanukkah?it wasn?t in my upbringing, but it was one of those deals where everybody has to pick a song or participate somehow in the chorus. It wasn?t the normal dreidl song; I can?t really remember the words, but it was a more serious dreidl song. The dreidl was huge, it was really honored. And that?s how I met my agent, who was in the audience. I was eight. I was nine when I did my first movie, The Safety of Objects.?
She was never cutesy: ?I did two commercials, one for Porsche, but I was definitely not the type of child one would cast in a commercial or any TV that you?d typically go out for as a young kid. I wasn?t the type of kid who would be in stuff that kids watch. I wasn?t cutesy.?
Working with David Fincher in Panic Room: ?I didn?t realize that 80 takes wasn?t normal. But it?s funny: Some of my proudest moments from film sets are in Panic Room. My character had seizures. Just being able to say, I was 10 years old and I broke all the blood vessels in my eye on that take, is cool. It was fun.?
On her ?unusual tomboy quality?: ?I have brothers, and that so-called boyish quality was something that I was deathly self-conscious about when I was younger. I was, like, No, I?m a girl. Actually, I?m still embarrassed to say that.?
On auditioning for Twilight: ?I don?t really know what to say. I just knew I wanted to work. And I did. I was working when I read the script for Twilight. I read the script before I read the book. I actually did the audition before reading the book, which was kind of crazy. Obviously, I tore all four books apart over the course of three years, but initially I had no idea that Twilight was such a big deal.
She likes vampires: ?I f-cking love me a vampire [Laughs]. I was 17 when I read Twilight, and at the time it was so perfect for me. The script was about young kids who think they can handle stuff that they just can?t. And they?re going to do it anyway. Because, why not? Just torture yourself. I relate to that. Vampires are a little dangerous?and we girls like to test ourselves.?
On the Breaking Dawn wedding: ?Awesome. This was my first wedding. It was insane. And odd. The wedding dress experience was a huge deal. I tried on one version of the dress, and it was like tweak and tweak and alter and tweak and change, and then it?s done. BFD dress. Huge deal. [The wedding] was major. The last Twilight book is filled with BFDs, things that people have been waiting for, for so long. For me, it was ridiculously dramatic: I get married, give birth, the baby has an incredibly accelerated growth rate we?re all very concerned about, and I say goodbye to my dad for the last time ever. It was all big?I could never go, Whew, I?m losing this character.?
Saying goodbye to Bella: ?I?d been anticipating that end-of-Bella moment. I was going, Oh, my God?I wonder how I?m going to feel. And the last scene of the shoot was at the wedding. Every single character was there on set. At the end of that day, I was kind of whacked. And so I never really had that moment then. Instead, it happened later. We needed to film one more sort of honeymoon scene and we went to the Virgin Islands. After that scene, my true final scene, I felt like I could shoot up into the night sky and every pore of my body would shoot light. I felt lighter than I?ve ever felt in my life.?
On not being ?in control? of her life: Yeah?and that time [between 17 and 21] has been sort of nuts for me. In film, I have chronicled every stage of my life since I was nine. And it?s more intense now, obviously, because I?m not in control of it anymore?.no. Not really. Not if I want to think solely about what I really like to do. It?s a funny thing: You want so badly for people to see what you do?you?re proud of it?and I like the effect that movies have on people. But the attention can also make me uncomfortable. In certain situations, people say to me, ?C?mon, what?s wrong with you?? I apologize. I love what I?m doing, but I?m a little uncomfortable.?
On watching her own movies: ?It?s not like I sit around watching my movies again and again, but I?ve never quite believed actors when they say they don?t watch themselves. I hear them going around the block to make excuses for why they don?t watch their work. It?s bullsh-t. Sorry, guys?I know you watch your stuff. [When I watch my stuff] I get embarrassed. It?s weird, too: I?m 10 years old in Panic Room, and that?s a version of myself that?s pretty far away, but it doesn?t feel that far away to me. Occasionally my dad will flip the TV on, and it?s cool to look at some movie that I?m in for one second. And then, ?Dude, off. Now. Like, cut it out.??

I think this is one of Kristen?s better interviews. I like that Lynn H. didn?t ask a million questions about what it?s like for Kristen to be so famous, and we didn?t have to hear Kristen whine about how she can?t go to the mall. What I find most interesting is that Kristen consistently talks about her career ambitions, and how she loves to work. More work for her means more promotional duties, meaning more interviews and appearances in which she?s going to have fall back into her affected emo shtick, and she’s going to be slumped over, biting her lip and glowering at people. Earlier today, I covered the new images from Snow White and the Huntsman, starring our very own lip-biter, Kristen Stewart. I had only seen photos from the Comic-Con photo call/press conference, not any video or interviews. But I just had to look up some more stuff about Kristen after reading this item from Vanity Fair - it?s courtesy of James Wolcott?s blog:
After the Snow White and the Huntsman rollout in hallowed Hall H, I was remarking to Justin how tired Kristen Stewart’s affected emo shtick had gotten, how she slumps in her chair on stage half-turned to the audience (while all of her fellow panelists faced front), hanging her head as if all of the fame were too much and too new for her, swallowing her answers and hiding behind her hair. Given the dozens of press and fan events she’s done, when is she going to stop acting like a teenager dragged out of her room to the dinner table?
To which a young fan of restricted height but loyal fierceness, overhearing us, wheeled her head around and said: “Kristen’s not pretending, she’s just REALLY SHY!”
I stand corrected.

?Kristen Stewart’s affected emo shtick? is the best description I?ve heard in a while, as is “acting like a teenager dragged out of her room to the dinner table.” I was looking up videos from the Snow White conference to see if I could find Kristen slumped over sideways in her chair, and wouldn?t you know?
CB found this one, where Kristen sounds like she?s about to cry as she?s answering a question:
See? two sides to her ?shyness? or ?nervousness?. When she seems like she?s about to cry just from the sheer terror or getting the first question, I do feel for her. THAT seems genuine, like she is truly about to have some kind of breakdown. But when she can?t even be bothered to sit in a chair like a normal adult woman?? It feels like emo shtick. Is it a combination of all of the above?
Here?s something I don?t understand: why doesn?t Kristen really invest in public speaking classes or a personal coach? There are LOTS of exercises, both mental and physical, that she could do to help her with her public persona as an unprofessional, lip-biting spaz. Is it because that at this point, she?s just married to this shtick? Or is her ?shyness? really just that overwhelming?
One last interview, which Kristen did with E! News?s Ben Lyons. I give her points for being engaged, one-on-one with Ben. I take away points because of the motherlode of nervous tics, lip-biting, hair-molesting, twitching, eye rolling, etc. She could also benefit from some diction classes.
Oh, and people are freaking out because she did press with a lighter hanging out of her pocket - ZOMG, pothead/smoker!

Feeding the "Twilight" frenzy, Kristen Stewart was spotted on stage at San Diego Convention Center as part of Comic-Con 2011 earlier today (July 21).
The 21-year-old award-winning actress partook in the "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" panel discussion alongside co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner as well as the film's director, Bill Condon.
As fans prepare for the epic big screen version of the franchise's most-talked about event, Kristen was bombarded with questions surrounding her walk down the aisle with new on-screen hubby, Robert.
"The wedding was [filmed] Secret Service style insane. The crew was completely inconvenienced. There was no cell phone or email. [But] I said thank you so much [to them] because if this [wedding] dress gets on the Internet, I'll die," she told the crowd.
Stewart also described the feelings she had while readying herself to film the epic scene, telling, "When I got to set I was as nervous and terrified as I expected myself to be," adding, "It was beautiful."

After dealing with a small fender bender on Thursday (July 14), Kristen Stewart was spotted leaving her mother?s house in Woodland Hills, CA earlier today (July 15).
Sporting the same jeans and gray t-shirt for the second day in a row, the ?Twilight? beauty quickly made her way past the paparazzi attempting to go unnoticed under her hoodie and sunglasses.
As for yesterday?s traffic hiccup, Ms Stewart?s fender was a bit banged up after a woman slammed into the back of her vehicle. Luckily, no one was hurt.
In other news, Kristen has been taking horse back riding lessons as of late in order to prepare for her upcoming role in ?Snow White and the Huntsman.?

Not having the best start to her day, Kristen Stewart hot into a fender bender in Hollywood on Thursday morning (July 14).
The "Twilight" star looked a bit upset as she assessed the damage before exchanging insurance information with the other party involved.
No word as to who was at fault in the accident, but fortunately there were no injuries as a result.
The car smashup comes as Miss Stewart has been keeping herself busy as of late, as she's been taking horse riding lessons for her upcoming role in "Snow White and the Huntsman" while also spending time with her mother working on the script for "K-11".

Tending to her daily errands, Kristen Stewart was busy getting her passport renewed in Van Nuys, CA on Monday afternoon (July 11).
The Bella Swan babe looked cute and casual in a blue Phillies t-shirt with 7 For All Mankind jeans and sneakers as she headed into the local office to make sure she's able to travel overseas.
The sighting comes shortly after Miss Stewart made a trip north of the border to visit boyfriend Robert Pattinson on the Toronto, Canada set of "Cosmopolis.
Escorted to the workplace by a chauffeured SUV, new footage of the "Twilight" hottie's arrival has just been released by ET - with the nighttime video showing her easing out of her ride while met by her man's bodyguard before being escorted into his trailer while bringing along Pattinson's pet pooch for the rendez vous.

A few weeks ago, there was a rumor going around that Hollywood would end up making a movie about Casey Anthony, and that the leading contender to play Casey would and should be Kristen Stewart. None of this was definite - it was all tabloids and entertainment shows playing a ?What if?? game and K-Stew?s people had nothing to do with it. Unfortunately for Kristen, the overwhelming majority of people were like ?Hey, that lip-biting eye-roller would make a great Casey Anthony!? And now, according to Us Weekly, Kristen?s people are trying to shut it down.
Casey Anthony: The Movie, starring…not Kristen Stewart. Kristen Stewart is none too pleased with chatter linking her and Casey Anthony, the 25-year-old Florida woman acquitted this week in the 2008 death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.
“Her people are really annoyed about the Casey Anthony comparisons,” a source tells Us Weekly of the Twilight actress, 21, who shares the same brunette locks and brooding eyes as Anthony, who is expected to go free within weeks.
“Kristen wants that talk to blow over soon, because it looks really bad.”
Don’t expect Stewart to portray Anthony in a flick anytime soon. “She would never for no amount of money portray that girl,” the source says. “It’s grossing her out. All those entertainment shows are doing polls and what not and her people just want it to stop!”

On one side, I completely understand why Kristen is upset and peeved by the comparison - true, Kristen is, in my mind, a lip-biting, unprofessional troll, but she hasn?t killed anyone, and she doesn?t deserve to be associated with or compared to Casey Anthony. Another part of me thinks this Us Weekly story is hilarious on so many levels. Isn?t part of being an actress ?playing characters that are not like you?? Look at someone like Charlize Theron, and her Oscar-winning role as Aileen Wuornos. If Kristen was smart - or if she had people working for her who were thinking about her career, long-term - she would embrace the rumors and acknowledge that, as an actress, it would be a remarkable career achievement to play a sociopath like Casey. It would also help Kristen break out of the ?Bella? type-casting, wouldn?t it? But if that happened, what would Kristen complain about then? I still think that Kristen should be actively seeking out roles like this - like, Casey Anthony - instead of some kind of lip-biting, eye-rolling, hunched-over, monotone Snow White.

Here are some new photos of Kristen Stewart leaving an LA gym at some point this week, after allegedly doing yoga. Kristen even smiled for the paparazzi! Shocking, I know. Usually she puts on her most hideous scowl. I still really love the brunette color she?s working. Did I tell you guys that I?ve started dyeing my hair to cover the premature grey? I?m doing a similar dark brunette, but with less of an auburn undertone than Kristen has. I really like it.
By the way, have you guys been watching the Casey Anthony trial? My mother and my aunt are OBSESSED with it. They?ve been watching Court TV (or whatever channel is covering it live) for weeks now. I keep reading that all of the channels that are covering the live trial are getting crazy-awesome ratings too, so obviously, there?s significant interest in the story. So? Hollywood is thinking about making it into a movie, obviously. And according to a Hollywood Reporter person, Kristen Stewart is the top choice to play Casey Anthony. THR?s Marisa Guthrie tells The Insider that Kristen ?has got the dark hair, sort of the vacant, deer-in-the-headlights look.? Usually, I?m on Team Don?t Hire K-Stew, but I think this casting choice might be dead on. If there ever is a movie, Kristen should TOTALLY play Casey.

Keeping up on her physical fitness, Kristen Stewart stepped out for an intense workout session in Los Angeles, CA on Thursday (June 30).
The Bella Swan babe looked refreshed as she exited the gym with her workout bag securely over her shoulder, offering a short and sweet smile to the anxiously awaiting photogs.
Aside from maintaining a healthy lifestyle, Miss Stewart recently showed her support for the non-profit program Shoe Revolt by donating a pair of signed Keds.
Shoe Revolt was designed to help educate teens about the problem of human trafficking, a problem that exploits young people and puts them into dangerous situations.
