Katy Perry attempted to go for the Twenties flapper vibe at last night’s City of Hope event at MOCA last night. I’ll say something nice — at least she’s (temporarily?) dumped the faux-goth look here. However, Katy looks to be wearing a satin, rose-colored nightie even though this was a full-length gown that probably cost thousands of dollars (not that she had to pay for it). I’m also assuming that she’s wearing a wig as well, but perhaps she could have removed the purple from her hair and taken out her hair extensions. It’s probably just a wig. Up close, her makeup is quite dramatic but Katy usually overdoes it in that department anyway, so that’s nothing new. I think that overall, Katy was going for glamour and “old Hollywood,” but instead she achieves “ill-fitting dress with boob spillage.” Those spaghetti straps must be made of steel to hold that rack up without any sort of aid in the brassiere department.
Meanwhile, here’s a bit of Katy-associated news from Russell Brand, who has appeared on a UK talk show with some uncharacteristically insensitive words about his failed marriage:
Russell Brand may have lost a sexy-superstar wife when he divorced Katy Perry but according to the star that most difficult part of the break-up was “the admin.”
Speaking on Lorraine about the couple’s split after just 14 months last December the Rock Of Ages star said: “I suppose a divorce is difficult isn’t it, because of the admin! There’s a lot of admin.”
He went on to claim that he didn’t see his marriage as a failure because it was “really good” while they were together. “It did work out in a way because you are married for some time, and that’s really good, and then you’re not married, and that’s really good,” he explained. “You just have to have acceptance of things. She is a person that I love, but now this is a new time.”
When Lorraine added that she thought they were well suited, the 36 year-old admitted that while they did love each other he was looking forward to the future. “Well we were for that amount of time, and now this is a new time.” he added.
It wasn’t as easy for Katy though, who recently admitted that she had found the heartbreaking split “tough.”
Russell went on to reveal that yoga was helping him to move on with his life: “I don’t want to sound like a lunatic, but if you meditate and do yoga you become attuned to that there is different energy that’s constant and very, very beautiful. Some people would call it God, some people would call it karma or the cosmos, me – I call it sexual charisma.”

A lot of you might think Russell sounds rude during this interview while talking about the paperwork being the biggest hassle of the divorce, but at least he’s not the one who walked in and signed with a happy face. So bottom line is that they’ve both been douches to each other, but I still think Katy is slightly douchier for being so flippant about legal proceedings.
Anyway, back to this disaster of a dress, which does nothing for Katy’s (admittedly pretty great) figure. Although this “flapper in front of a trailer” shot is a nice touch, don’t you think?

Out spending a night on the town, Katy Perry was seen leaving 'The Dove Pub' in the Broadway Market of London, England on Wednesday evening (June 6).
The "California Girls" songstress sported her always unique style with vivid purple hair and a teal dress embellished with a crucifix on the chest as she made her way out of the pub after partying with her rumored boyfriend and Florence + The Machine rocker Robert Ackroyd.
Switching to career news, we all know the 27-year-old can conquer the music business even starring in a new film "Katy Perry: Part Of Me 3D," but now the pop sensation is taking another route in entertainment.
On Wednesday, Bluewater Publications confirmed the news that Miss Perry would be the newest celebrity depicted in their comic book series "Fame." In the new comic titled, "Fame: Katy Perry," it depicts the pop sensation's early life growing up in a Christian home and follows her on her way to hitting it big.

I’m sorry, that title was just linkbait. Katy Perry didn’t go nude nude for her Part of Me3D movie. Well, she did, but in this case nude means makeup free. As in she didn’t spackle five pounds of product onto her face. She looks way different. Not to say that she looked terrible or anything. When you get used to something for years, a sudden change like this is going to be jarring. Sort of like when I stopped standing outside of Katy’s window every night. She didn’t miss me per se but my shadowy figure on her front lawn gave her a strange sense of comfort.

Katy Perry has done the unthinkable and appeared completely (?) make-up free in a new video for her upcoming Part of Me 3-D concert movie. Unlike the movie’s trailer, it sure looks like Katy’s entirely bare-faced in this promo, which is a far cry from both her overly underdone “minimal” music video Marine look as well as Katy’s usual excessive war paint and drag-queen makeup tendencies. Here’s the video clip, and it’s actually rather endearing to watch if one ignores Katy’s quirky face pulling:
See? She looks like of cute here and much better than I expected after Russell Brand posted that really awful photoon Twitter of Katy waking up from a nap. While I really like Russell, that was a d-ck move. Here Katy looks so much younger without all of those false eyelashes and piled on face paint. While I understand her need to do so onstage, she could easily afford to go a bit more casual on a day-to-day basis. Considering how much makeup Katy usually wears though, she looks surprisingly decent here though, right?

Last night at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, Katy Perry debuted her new single Wide Awakewhile twirling around in the air over a set of fake clouds.
Pink’s husband Carey Hart was adamant that Katy ripped off his wife Pink’s performance insinuating Pink’s performance was better because she was 3 months pregnant and “actually sang the song.” Oooh, really? What? You want a cookie or something?
Apparently, if someone twirls around in the air once, all future variations of air twirling will be derivative and terrible. Let’s not even mention Katy Perry wasn’t even attempting any Cirque du Soleil moves but whatever. You’re not going to convince Carey Hart otherwise. “How can I jerk off to something that reminds me of my wife?,” he probably yelled at his tv.

Katy Perry also attended the 2012 Billboard Music Awards with her now purple hair. She has so much makeup caked on her face that it looks like someone Photoshopped her in real life. She practically needs a putty knife to get that off at the end of the night. Whenever Katy Perry gets into a stylist’s chair, instead of hair and makeup, it should be called hair and spackling .

Here’s Katy Perry at last night’s Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, where she’s still pulling the horrific dark lipstick look that makes her look like a slutty Morticia Aadams in a faux-gothy effort to remind us that her “music is about get real f&#*ing dark.” The hair is still violet, and it looks fine (by Katy standards), but I wish she’d trash the pseudo-hardcore lipstick because dark lips really wash out her complexion. Let’s talk about the dress. Katy wore Blumarine (like she did at Elton John’s Oscar bash), and this gown is kind of shapeless and very unlike Katy’s usual gimmicky take on fashion. It’s not an awful dress, but it just does very little for her normally tiny-waisted figure. Here’s the back view, which is slightly more interesting from that angle than it is from the front.
Perhaps one clue why Katy chose a relatively modest dress for the occasion is that she brought her grandmother as her date. That’s actually really sweet, and I’m sure grandma appreciated not having to pose next to her granddaughter’s massive cleavage on the red carpet. See? Katy can be respectful when she wants to do so.
Katy also performed at the awards, and she chose to showcase her upcoming single, “Wide Awake.” People got advance word that Katy was set to perform this song, which is supposedly about (surprise) her disastrous marriage to Russell Brand:

The singer, whose divorce from Brand is supposed to be finalized next month, is set to sing a revealing breakup song, “Wide Awake” off her latest album, this Sunday at The Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, PEOPLE has learned.
“It’s obviously about Russell,” a source said, though Perry has not publicly confirmed it.
The song speaks about being blinded by love, including the lyrics, “I wish I knew then what I know now — wouldn’t dive in, wouldn’t bow down.”

Sure enough, that tipster (probably Katy’s dad) was correct, and Katy performed “Wide Awake” during her live performance. Here are some more lyrics from the song and a video of her onstage as well.

Poor Russell. He’s been walking around saying nice things about his estranged wife, and she’s still trying to cut him down during awards show performances with her silly pop songs. Of course, this song will probably hit #1 too, and then Katy will deny that she wrote it about him. It’s all part of her act, you know.
Now back to Katy’s grandma — I love her sparkly cane! Such a nice touch.

Sure, she split from her hunky hubby Russell Brand last year, but that didn?t mean Katy Perry had to go stag at tonight?s 2012 Billboard Music Awards (May 20).
The ?Hot N Cold? cutie brought her grandmother Ann Hudson as her date, and looked amazing in a lavender sleeveless Blumarine dress with deep violet locks and dark red lips.
And Katy will be more than just a mere spectator during the night?s affairs at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas- she?s scheduled to perform her new single ?Wide Awake.?
Prior to her arrival, Ms. Perry tweeted, ?My date to tonight?s Billboard Music Awards is hotter than the las vegas weather. SMOKIN?!?
With presenters including Charlie Sheen, Miley Cyrus, Gladys Knight, Julianne Hough and Wiz Khalifa, award hopefuls include a pack-leading Adele with 18 nominations while LMFAO is a finalist in 17 categories.
Always one of the hottest nights in music, the 2012 Billboard Music Awards will be getting underway at 8/9c on ABC.
