She?s taken a liking to dramatic films, and Vanessa Hudgens has signed on for the upcoming film ?The Frozen Ground.?
According to Deadline, the ?Beastly? babe is set to star opposite Nicolas Cage and John Cusack as an escaped victim of a killer.
Based on a true story, Cusack will play Robert Hansen, a serial killer, while Cage will take on the role as a police officer set on catching the criminal.
The movie will begin shooting on October 17 in Anchorage, Alaska, where Hansen lived and would release his victims into the Alaskan wilderness to hunt them for sport.

Delving into the Mercedes Benz Fashion Fashion Week festivities, Vanessa Hudgens was on-hand at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City on Friday evening (September 9).
The former "High School Musical" vixen looked fabulous in a velvet frock as she checked out the 2011 Concept Korea presentation.
During the visit, Miss Hudgens posed solo for the cameras before joining alongside the Concept Korea designers including Doho, Lie Sang Bong, Steve J & Yoni P, Song Jun Wan, and Juyoung Lee..
As for the effort, Concept Korea is self described as "a collaboration presented by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Korean Creative Content Agency (KOCCA); the South Korean city of Daegu; and the Korea Research Institute for Fashion Industry with a mission is to promote the South Korean fashion industry and foster the growth of its most talented designers as they seek to expand into the US."

Making her second stop on the first day of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week festivities, Vanessa Hudgens was front and center at Popchips Playland in New York City on Thursday night (September 8).
The "Beastly" babe happened to be hosting the Fashion's Night Out fete, as she took to the turntables to choose music while attendees lined up to purchase the healthy popchips snacks.
In between her music selecting duties, the 21-year-old made time for her young fans while posing for too-cute pictures as she perched herself atop a popchips beanbag.
Prior to the late night soiree, Vanessa paid a visit to the Fatigues to Fabulous happenings - with F2F being a national campaign established to honor and support female veterans.

Making the most of the Labor Day holiday, Vanessa Hudgens was spotted at the 2011 US Open in New York City yesterday (September 5).

Prior to the change, Hudgens lamented, ?Honestly, I kind of feel a bit like a soccer mom, but we're going to let that go. There's nothing wrong with soccer moms, but I'm only 22! I miss my hair believe me, I do. But there's nothing I can do about it.?

Kick-starting another day with a fitness outing, Vanessa Hudgens was spotted leaving the gym with her personal trainer in West Hollywood, California on Thursday (September 1).
Clad in a red and black ensemble, the ?Beastly? babe gave her trainer a big hug after the morning sweat session before hopping in her ride and heading off.
As for her career as a movie star, Miss Hudgens has two films in the post-production phase.
First, ?Journey 2: The Mysterious Island? will hit theaters later this year and, secondly, ?Gimme Shelter? will be out in 2012.
