Blake Lively is the celebrity spokesperson for Gucci Premiere perfume. You may have seen her commercial in which she struts around in gorgeous dresses while applying perfume like she’s trying out a new vibrator. As part of her promotional duties she did a long video interview with fashion and beauty blog, Refinery 29. (You can watch the video there. I tried to embed it, but it’s auto-play.) Blake really knows how to give interesting beauty tips. I’m not sure they’d work for everyone, but Blake wants us to know that her style is “effortless” and will work for you, too. I’m sure she had a full blowout and a professional makeup application before she said this.
On her sense of style
You look at Katherine Hepburn and her pant suits or you look at Grace Kelly and her incredibly feminine gowns that look like a princess – very fittingly. I look to women like that because I always look for style and not trends.
There are two very different things. One can be iconic in any time period. I always want to wear things that my kids can look back on and say ‘mom, you look amazing.’ Not like ‘I can’t believe you wore that.’
On the paparazzi trying to get a money shot
It’s never comfortable when there are a million people with cameras that are screaming your name. A lot of them really want to get that embarrassing photo. You’re getting out of your SUV and there’s a guy on the ground trying to shoot up your dress and then it’s your fault later…
Leading up to it is never really stressful. You make it a fun process like going to a costume party.
On caring for her nieces and nephews before a premiere
The last premiere I went to I had my nieces and nephews I was babysitting them, they were at my hotel at the pool all day… I was getting dressed, I had my dress, my sister hadn’t shown up yet. She was late, so I was like ‘ok you guys you’re coming to the premiere…’ so I’m holding the babies I have them in the car with me, I walk the red carpet. I get back in the car and continue to watch them until my sister shows up and then I can continue with my night.
On her hair
I’m actually a pretty shy person by nature so it’s very much a safety net for me. I love to have my hair down and I love to have it full. I always like it to look really relaxed. [Structured hair] just makes me feel stiff and uncomfortable. If I have my hair down, there’s something romantic about it. I feel like it looks lived it… it has a story.
Her haircare tips
When I wash and dry my hair I have naturally wavy hair so I’ll dry it where it’s still a little bit wet and then I’ll put it just in a ballerina bun and then when I take it out it has a really nice natural deep wave… If you have any sort of natural bend in your hair, if you let it dry in that bun… make sure the bun is really tight then it will come out with really pretty waves.
Her beauty tips: improvise
It’s always about ‘are there any accidents that are going to happen… let’s use eyelash glue’ [to glue down a dress so it doesn't ride up]
My mom is very clever that way… always thinking of odd things in a pinch. My mom used Advil as blush once… she didn’t have blush, so she licked the Advil and took the Pink off of it.
On fragrance
Fragrance for me is actually one of the most important things that I live by daily, as well as on the red carpet. I like a more natural, effortless look so I often don’t wear much makeup in my life if any, so fragrance is something that really defines you and it tells your story. It brings back so many emotions and so many memories. When you smell the smell of someone you love… the flood of emotions, the power that has is incredible.
Fragrance is something that can be your signature for life.

I have long naturally wavy hair around Blake’s length and I doubt my hair would look cute if I put it up damp in a bun like that, but you know that I’m going to try it. I’ll probably be blowing it out again and then curling it to fix it afterwards. I don’t like my hair to look messy.
Blake also went on about how Gucci Premiere was “the perfect fragrance” because they were able to blend feminine floral notes with masculine wood notes and hints of citrus or something. This women is possibly the perfect spokesperson. She’s enjoying the hell of out that fat contract with Gucci.
I have to call bullsh*t on her “I’m actually a pretty shy person” comment. Blake is not shy. The interviewer was noticeably shy and reserved and it took her a while to warm up. Blake is always ready with an animated story about how she wrangles babies while attending move premieres and uses clever tricks to get her incredible hair and dewy skin. Blake’s brand of “shy” is anything but. She gives a great interview. She really knows how to make it all look “effortless.” Also, I got the sense that she’s looking forward to having kids soon.

Well, this is kind of disappointing. Blake Lively showed up to the 12-12-12 Concert, but I don’t see any cleavage. Granted, she’s showing off some sweet leg action, but this is supposed to be for charity, and Blake’s covering up her best asset. She should know better. Gifts like that are meant to be shared.

The last I heard, the December issue of Martha Stewart Weddings should probably be coming out in early to mid-November. Which means that we probably have a month more to wait to see Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds? wedding photos, which were given (sold?) exclusively to that magazine and no other. Blake?s wedding was planned by Martha Stewart?s wedding planners/organizers, and the whole thing is some kind of brilliant cross-promotional move, I guess. What I think is particularly funny, though, is that until the magazine comes out, Blake?s wedding planners and her wedding gown designers (the talentless women of Marchesa) keep talking about Blake?s wedding to People Mag and Us Weekly. Everything keeps getting built up, higher and higher, so that everyone will be inevitably disappointed when the magazine comes out and the whole thing is revealed as some kind of budget, faux-country affair. Because that?s what it sounds like:
The setting, the dress, the decorations ? Blake Lively knew exactly what she wanted, in intimate detail, for her wedding last month to Ryan Reynolds.
“She had pages and pages of pictures. She knew everything that she wanted from the very beginning to the very end,” wedding planner Tara Gurard told PEOPLE Monday at the Martha Stewart Weddings Bridal Fashion Week party in New York.
“The problem was she had 250 photos, and she wanted all those elements in her wedding,” Gurard added.
The results, though, were stunning. “[From] simple, elegant flowers to comfortable seating, she wanted the wedding to be very family and friend-oriented, very private,” Gurard said. “It was in a barn, and it was really fun to take this rustic barn element and dress it up inside. It was really lovely, lots of candles, just like she has at home. … She wanted it to feel just like she was at home.”
It was a “charming, charming wedding,” added Martha Stewart, who was among the attendees at the Mt. Pleasant, S.C., nuptials. “Real people, real love. Just really nice [and] personal, which I think is what a wedding must and should be.”
Stewart said her favorite part of the wedding involved the couple’s dogs, but was coy about what role they played. Gurard likewise was reluctant to give details, but revealed: “I did do some flowers for the dogs.”
Darcy Miller, editorial director at Martha Stewart Weddings, which is preparing a photo package from the wedding for its December issue, said the scene in the barn was unbelievably romantic.
“You just looked around the room, and all the candles were glowing, and they just looked so happy,” she said. “You know, I was with them yesterday, and I said to them, ‘I have a never seen a bride and a groom sit at a table so long and just look at each other and talk to each other.’ … Everyone there was just so happy for them.”
Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, the Marchesa co-founders who designed Lively’s wedding dress, said it was a joy to work with the bride.
“Blake is incredibly stylish, and she really knew what she wanted,” Craig said. “It was very much how we do a lot of brides. We started with a lot of sketches, and we sit down and talk through the sketches until we came to the final dress ? She just wanted to be romantic and beautiful.”

Oh, hell. Baxter Reynolds and Penny Lively were involved in the wedding?! Damn. Now I?m looking forward to seeing those dog photos. I bet Penny was a mess! She?s such a little thing. She probably ripped her flowers off. But I bet Baxter was a good puppy and kept his flowers on. Unless Ryan arranged a special dog-tuxedo for him. Oh, God.
Seriously, though? you know Blake?s dress is going to be an ice-skater, faux-toga?d disaster. It?s MARCHESA, how could it not be? As for all of the emphasis on ?rustic? and ?barn-y? ? it could go either way. Maybe it was really pretty. Or maybe it felt like a beautifully lit episode of Hee-Haw. It depends on whether or not there were actual bales of hay. Oh, and ?The problem was she had 250 photos, and she wanted all those elements in her wedding??? Let me guess ? Blake had a binder full of images she had been collecting over the years because she had dreamed of her perfect wedding for so long because that?s all women ever dream of, the perfect wedding? No disrespect to those of you who are like that ? I?m just not that kind of woman, so I guess I find it slightly bizarre. Different strokes, etc.
PS? You know what hasn?t occurred to me before now? Will Blake change her name, professionally and privately? Is she Blake Reynolds now? That seems like the kind of thing she would do.

Blake Lively of course wore Chanel to the Chanel Bijoux De Diamant 80th Anniversary party in New York last night, a backless silver silk dress that no doubt cost more than my car. It’s a pretty simple dress for couture, really. It almost looks like one I wore to homecoming in 10th grade. Granted, that dress didn’t start out backless — I kinda hulked out of it during a particularly vigorous bout of the Macarena — but I still made it work for me. That’s called “fashion improvisation.”
Make Blake’s looks all your own with this dress from Diane von Furstenburg. Just be careful if you’re planning on doing any late nineties’ dance moves.

Logging the long hours for the final season of her hit CW show, Blake Lively got down to business while filming "Gossip Girl" in New York City on Tuesday night (October 2).
The 25-year-old actress looked fashion forward in black tights, ankle boots and a chic maroon jacket while shooting scenes with co-star/former beau, Penn Badgley, and laughing it up with the crew in between takes.
Aside from filming her hit CW show, Blake recently chatted with Marie Claire about all of her favorite tech sources when it comes to iPhone apps and why she loves them.
Miss Lively's smart phone faves are as follows:
Hipstamatic: "This is my most used app! It turns normal photos into art. As a foodie and cook, I especially appreciate the Loftus lens. People can't believe the images are captured from an iPhone. The quality is truly superb."
Martha Stewart Everyday Food: Fresh & Easy Recipes: "Anything Martha does is magic. I use this as a daily dose of inspiration."
iTunes U: "Tunes U is a full education on the go. You can download course content from universities like Yale and Stanford, or art institutions like MoMa. It has everything from French courses to Spanish history. It's incredible to have such vast access to any subject I'm interested in right there in my pocket."
8mm: "This is the moving hipstamatic! This app creates such ambiance and character in any setting. It brings your video back to any era. And the shutter sound and pulsing borders are such great details!"

Style.com: "This is also one of my most used apps because I do my own styling. I find all my looks for events on this site by browsing all the runway shows. In case you missed it yesterday, I ended up updating that story about Blake and her phantom baby bump. Page Six had a source who claimed that Blake was eating more than usual on the set of Gossip Girl, and that she was ?glowing?? which obviously means BABY. Blake?s rep shut it down hard and fast, telling Gossip Cop that the Page Six story was ?completely untrue? within hours of Page Six?s publication. So, what does that mean? Blake isn?t selling you babies. Yet. She?s selling you the ideas of babies, because she?s so young and fertile and she?ll get pregnant soon, but right now she?s just so crazy in-love and baking and food and BABIES! It?s a circular argument, you see? Anyway, Us Weekly managed to get a ?tip? on how Ryan Reynolds loves the crap out of Blake?s happy-homemaker routine.
In Ryan Reynolds’ eyes — okay, in most guys’ eyes — Blake Lively is the total package.
The low-key duo and Green Lantern costars — who tied the knot in an intimate, top-secret Charleston, SC ceremony September 9 — first bonded during quiet date nights at Lively’s NYC apartment, where the actress showed off her culinary prowess. (“I love, love to bake!” Lively told Us Weekly last year.)
“Ryan loves the comfort Blake provides,” an insider tells Us. “It’s like, ‘You were on the cover of Vogue and you want to cook me dinner? Yes, please!’”
Echoes another source, “They are ridiculously in love.”
On Thursday, Lively, 25, headed back to work on the set of Gossip Girl in NYC, where two things were noticeably absent — her wedding ring, and that baby bump everyone has been on the lookout for.
That morning, her rep slammed a report in The New York Post’s Page Six that the actress and Reynolds, 35, are expecting, calling the rumors “completely untrue.”
Though she’s not pregnant now, kids might not be too far off for the head-over-heels newlyweds.
“I’ve always wanted a big family,” Lively told the October issue of Allure. “Oh, I’d love 30 [children] if I could.”

Here?s the thing ? I think this is probably true. We can debate whether or not Blake?s happy-homemaker routine is for real, but I have no doubt that Ryan enjoys the way Blake is (or how she acts around him), and she must seem worlds more stable than Scarlett Johansson.
I?ve been actively avoiding using ScarJo?s name in all of these Blake and Ryan posts, but this Us Weekly story is ABOUT ScarJo and how Blake is so much better for Ryan than ScarJo. And that gives me mixed feelings, like I actually feel sympathetic towards ScarJo (who really doesn’t NEED my sympathy). For one, Scarlett was really young when she got together with Ryan. I?m not infantilizing her, I?m just saying? I think she was trying on the ?wife/partner in a serious relationship? persona, and I?ve always felt like Scarlett got tired of playing that role pretty quickly, and her real personality came out. I think Ryan sees himself as a stable, conservative (conservative meaning ?not crazy, not a womanizer?) dude who wants a family, and women that date him tend to tailor their personalities to fit with that. ScarJo couldn?t keep up the faade. As for Blake? either it?s not a faade and this is what she?s really like, or she?ll outgrow this happy-homemaker phase in a few years too.
Here are Blake?s Gucci ads again, just because how do we know that this marriage isn?t just some promotional scam for Gucci? HOW?

Blake Lively says she’s taken up cooking and loves experimenting when she travels. So much so that she’s always smuggling back local ingredients through customs.
“I have smuggled so many ingredients across so many borders, like shallot confit from Thailand, or a new sauce from New Orleans not approved by the FDA.I’m stuffing them in teddy bears cut in half and put back together again and I’ve gotten really good at it, although now I’m talking about it, I’m sure customs will be all over me next time I go anywhere.”
Hidden in teddy bears? Why didn’t I think of that? And here I was stuffing saffron into my anus.

Word on the street is that newlywed ?Gossip Girl? star Blake Lively is pregnant with her first child with husband Ryan Reynolds. Page Six says:
The blond beauty, back at work in New York after her secret Sept. 9 wedding to Ryan Reynolds, is ?glowing,? say spies, but also is eating more than normal.
One spy said, ?Blake is usually really careful about what she eats, but since her wedding, she seems to be eating a lot more. Everyone on set is on bump-watch.? A rep for Blake rep didn?t respond to e-mails last night.
Blake Lively might be pregnant, you say? That’s really interesting. Almost as interesting as this story about a Japanese chef who cooked up his own surgically-removed genitals and served them to guests at $300 dollars a pop. Except not really. Only in fucking Japan, man.

Yesterday, Blake Lively returned to the New York set of Gossip Girl. After Blake?s publicist slammed People Mag for their cover lie (?People was there!? ? at her wedding), I kind of assumed that Blake would be on lockdown, that she would only be doing the big reveal to Martha Stewart Weddings, and that all of the pap agencies and weekly tabloids would just have to suck it. Not so much, as it turns out. Blake made sure she was photographed in a lovey embrace with her new husband (in photos that were taken after their wedding in South Carolina and released yesterday), all while flashing her enormous engagement ring and wedding band. The ring is actually a Pink diamond. Can you tell? I can?t. Ryan went to jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, and according to Schwartz?s spokesperson, ?Ryan chose Lorraine Schwartz to help him find a flawless, light Pink oval diamond. They worked together to design a custom setting in rose gold and pave diamonds with a nod to deco.” Reportedly, the ring cost somewhere in the vicinity of $2 million. It?s a pretty ring? it?s not my particular style, but I like that it doesn?t look like everybody else?s engagement ring, you know? I think her wedding band is pretty too.
Oh, and we?ve found out more about the dress too. Blake wore ?a one-of-kind couture Marchesa bridal gown with hand-draped silk tulle bodice adorned with crystal and rose gold embroidery.? Something about the idea of a Marchesa creation with ?hand-draped silk tulle? makes me wonder if Blake?s wedding gown resembled a toga. No judgment. If she wanted to wear a toga on her wedding day, God bless.
Last Blake news? she and Ryan honeymooned in Virginia! They were only a few hours away from me. I totally should have crashed their honeymoon (?HEY Y?ALL!?). They stayed at Virginia?s Inn at Little Washington ? you can read more here.
