Helping to get things underway with a bang, Elizabeth Banks looked picture perfect as she made her arrival to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night (June 3).
The Effie Trinket actress was all smiles as she joined alongside Josh Hutcherson while working the red carpet outside the Gibson Amphitheatre venue.
Meanwhile, Ms. Banks and her co-stars are lined up for quite the big night ahead - as "The Hunger Games" and "Bridesmaids" lead all contenders with eight nominations apiece.
As for the ceremony, this year's MTV Movie Awards are being hosted by British funnyman Russell Brand while Emma Stone is to receive the first annual Trailblazer Award and Johnny Depp will be honored with the MTV Generation Award for over four decades worth of movie magic.

Judging solely by the cover image of the always-underrated and lovely Elizabeth Banks, I was prepared to love this cover shoot. Unfortunately, Allure used their prettiest photo of Banks for the June cover, and all of the other photos are awful. Like, she looks like a wax figure of a blow-up doll in the other shots. It?s not cute. Still, we love Elizabeth, don?t we? I?m not expecting many people to comment on her though. I?ve prepared myself for this to be one of the least commented-on posts of the day. You guys would rather rag on Kim Kardashian than show a cool lady like Elizabeth some love. Yes, that was a challenge. LOVE HER, damn it.
As far as Elizabeth?s cover interview? it?s a bit hit-or-miss. I really love some of the stuff she says, especially about earning more money than her husband. But I feel like the language and terminology she uses to describe becoming a mother through surrogacy? well, it could use some work. It pains me to admit that, because I loved the initial statement she made about surrogacy. Here are some excerpts:
Expecting a baby via surrogacy last year: “I had already mourned the loss of my fertility for myself, so I was past it. The only time it really affected me was when Alec Baldwin looked me straight in the eye and asked me, ‘Are you pregnant right now?’ Alec Baldwin asked me straight up. I had made a comment about wearing a fake belly, something innocuous, and he looked me straight in the eye and asked me, ‘Are you pregnant right now?’ And I blanched totally. Because of course, technically, no I wasn’t. But then, technically, yes, in a way I was! And it was very weird. I thought Alec was reading my mind or something. We weren’t telling anyone then, so I said ‘No.’ I thought, ‘Is that a lie?’ Because it wasn’t a lie, and yet it was a lie!”
On her son Felix: “It’s essentially a test tube baby — it’s just the test tube is another woman. That you can grow a baby outside of yourself! It’s amazing!”
On What To Expect When You?re Expecting: “I did [the movie] for my fellow females,” says Banks, who stars alongside Jennifer Lopez, 42, Cameron Diaz, 39, Anna Kendrick, 26, and Brooklyn Decker, 25. “I thought I was standing up for all the women who have crazy horrible pregnancies — you know, there’s all these things we’re not allowed to talk about in public.”
On her weight and body image: “It’s not good to put in a magazine what I weigh because it’s too little. People freak out when they hear what I weigh,” Banks says. “They think, ‘Oh, you’re too skinny.’ But I ate a cupcake last night — and I eat broccoli. I work out with a trainer; she kicks my ass.”
She didn?t like her figure growing up: “I thought I had chicken legs, and I thought, Oh, my boobies are too small,” she says. “It was the era of Cindy Crawford and The Body?and I didn’t have that.”
Earning more money than her husband: “Well, we’re the first generation to do it. And it’s very ingrained even in our DNA that men are hunter-gatherers who are meant to go off and provide. And that we are really meant to stay at home and have kids…. Let’s be honest. Men love a second income. It gets them their boat and their vacations. They want their wives to work.”
Sexism in Hollywood: “When you’re young in this business, you don’t realize it, but there are no superhero movies starring women! I was very idealistic. And so it was an adjustment knowing I was going into a movie and would be working just as hard as the male actors, and in some cases feeling I was more talented than they were?and knowing I was making a fraction of their salary. And knowing also that this is my reality going forward.”
[From Us Weekly, Allure]
See? I like the part about out-earning her husband and how she knew that she was more talented than most of the men who out-earn her. It?s interesting to think that right now, at the age of 38, Elizabeth has finally come into her own as an actress. Meaning that she toiled as a character actress and supporting player for more than a decade, and while she?s probably still considered a ?character actress,? she?s getting so much more attention these days because of What To Expect, The Hunger Games and 30 Rock. Her IMDB is insane – she works SO MUCH. God, I love her.

| Elizabeth Banks in mismatch Mary Katrantzou at the Met Gala: fashion-forward or fug? | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I finally saw Hunger Games a couple of weeks ago, and even in my small town, the theater was crowded. The film was excellent, with an edge-of-your-seat plot that closely followed the books and some amazing scenery and costuming. Banks’ styling as Effie Trinket was so good that I barely even recognized her. At last night’s Met Gala it looked like she was channeling Effie somewhat, which is strange because at the premieres for the film she wore a lot of very bright solid-colored dresses by different designers. That’s sort-of her go-to look and it really works for her.
So it’s confusing to me that she chose a Mary Katrantzou contrasting pattern dress, to put it kindly, that comes off as cacophonous it’s so loud. Without the rounded capelet thing at the arms, and without the peplum “dust ruffle” bit around the waist, it might have worked. Even the slit straight down the front looks out of place. As it is, she just looks a little mortified in that dress, doesn’t she? It’s like her expression is apologetic and sad.
Banks’ shoes are kind of awesome at the rare moments they’re peeking out. Check out the sequin heels with the thin black straps. I love her blush-colored toes and nails, which match her peachy lips. Her makeup is very pretty. Her hair just looks greasy and like an poofy afterthought, though. It’s a shame because she’s really worked some fashion-forward looks in the past. This designer just failed her.

Joining in on quite the big evening in the Big Apple, Elizabeth Banks turned up for the 'Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations' 2012 Costume Institute Gala in New York City on Monday (May 7).
The "Hunger Games" star glided through the Metropolitan Museum of Art venue while clad in a fabulous Mary Katrantzou ensemble.
The annual fete finds actress Carey Mulligan acting as honorary co-chair alongside designer Miuccia Prada and US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, while Azealia Banks is lined up to perform.
As for the celebratory occasion, this year's rendition of the Met gala ushers in the 'Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations' exhibition exploring "the striking affinities between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, two Italian designers from different eras."
The display is described as being "inspired by Miguel Covarrubias's "Impossible Interviews" for Vanity Fair in the 1930s while featuring "orchestrated conversations between these iconic women to suggest new readings of their most innovative work."

Her new movie ?The Hunger Games? is killing it at the box office, and Elizabeth Banks was spotted at ?The Tonight Show with Jay Leno? last night (March 26).
The ?Zack and Miri Make a Porno? starlet chatted with Jay about her experience watching the film in a theater full of teenage girls.
?My favorite thing that happened, is there was a love triangle, sort of, between these delicious young people.. so Jennifer Lawrence?s Katniss kisses Josh Hutcherson?s Peeta in a cave- she just kisses him a little bit- and then they cut away to the other guy who?s in love with her, and all these girls are like, ?Ooooh wooooooo!??
?And then they really make out, they go for it in the cave, and then they of course cut back to the other guy watching- and of course he?s so upset because he?s in love with her and she?s kissing another guy- and the girls, they go bananas!?

The ?Our Idiot Brother? starlet hammed it up in the arrivals area, and chatted with the press about how her character Effie helped her change her fashion sense.

Ms. Banks also noted that bullying her costars in the film was a cinch. ?So easy. I love being mean. They're getting fame and fortune, they can take the heat every once in a while."

The highly anticipated film "The Hunger Games" is approaching it's release date and star Elizabeth Banks is dishing about the filming of this sci-fi drama.
Spotted out shopping in Beverly Hills on Tuesday (February 21), the blonde beauty, who plays Effie Trinkett in the film, admits some moments on set were tougher than others.
During a particular scene, the 37-year-old actress revealed that some of the days during filming the temperature would reach a scorching 105 degrees.
In an interview with MTV News, Banks dished, ?We had all these young kids there dropping like flies. It was madness, and it?s also the only time we spend in District 12.?
So what scenes from the movie is "The 40 Year Old Virgin" starlet looking forward to the most? ?I have not seen much of the arena, so I?m excited to see the actual Games. It?s very emotional. We really become very attached to the characters, even Cato and Thresh, kind of the bad guys of the book. We really are attached to everybody?s journey, and so I?m really excited to see how that all plays out,? says Banks.
You can catch all of the gripping action when the film hits theaters March 23rd.
