Vulture has an excerpt from Ramin Setoodahs upcoming book Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View. Its about Jenny McCarthys one year tenure on the show, from the summer of 2013 to 2014, and how it was cutthroat and demoralizing for her as Barbara Walters and Whoopi were vying for head moderator. That was Barbaras last year on The View, and Jenny tells stories of Barbara micromanaging Jennys outfits, forgetting recent guests and not knowing famous names, and generally being mean and vindictive. In Jennys version shes the victim who was misled into signing on and was treated horribly every day. She told Sedootah that Barbara constantly tried to undermine her and that Whoopi talked over her and dominated panel discussions, although that was arguably Whoopis job. She also mischaracterized her anti-vaccination stance. Jenny claimed in a book published in 2007 that her son, Evan, had autism (which some experts debate), that she cured him by changing his diet, and that his condition was caused by vaccinations. She led a green our vaccines movement, claiming that unsafe ingredients in vaccines caused her sons condition. Many news outlets spoke out against The View hiring Jenny for this reason, but she makes it sound like fringe groups were leading a hate campaign against her moderate stance, which was not the case. Shes said things like it shouldnt be polio vs. autism, that she wouldnt vaccinate or recommend vaccinations and that its a lie that vaccinations dont cause autism. Here are some excerpts from that segment of the book. Setoodah is a strong writer and its a good read, although its clearly Jennys distorted version of events.
On groups targeting her; she misrepresents her stance on vaccines
Jenny believed that the hostility toward her originated from a lobbying group that wanted to silence her. ?I had to deal with a hurricane, a tornado. I consider myself to be pro-vaccine, but pro?safe vaccine. There?s another group, they go out and try to get me fired from every job I?ve ever done. They are invisible but powerful.?
On Barbara Walters being confused and mean
?Imagine a woman like Barbara Walters,? Jenny explained. ?It?s her last year and she doesn?t want to leave. Think about that. And I?m the new bitch there.?
One day in Hot Topics, Jenny sounded off about Katy Perry dating the bad-boy musician John Mayer. ?I saw Barbara?s face with her big saucer eyes look at me,? Jenny said. ?Then we went to a commercial. She said, ?Who is it that you?re talking about and why are you bringing her up???
?I?m, like, ?That?s Katy Perry. You interviewed her last week!??
Jenny recalled, ?That wasn?t the right thing to say. I felt everyone kicking me under the table.? The other co-hosts had devised a method to send signals to one another about how to deal with Barbara. ?You either had the knee hold or the kick under the table.?
?We would all show up in the makeup room,? Jenny said. ?Barbara would check out what I was wearing. If she didn?t agree with it, or it didn?t complement her outfit, I had to change.? Jenny estimated that over the next seven months she switched 50 outfits as a result of Barbara?s withering gaze, as if they were doing a photo shoot at Vogue instead of a daytime talk show.
On Whoopi controlling discussions
?People don?t understand,? Jenny said. ?Whoopi can knock over anyone in a debate. Her voice is strong not only in meaning but also in sound. I was able to get a point out in three words ? like ?I don?t agree? ? and that?s all I would be able to say. I would be stepped on or interrupted.? Jenny thought that Whoopi didn?t like that Jenny hadn?t deferred to her enough. ?I wasn?t going to play a kiss-ass. To me, Whoopi had an addiction to controlling people?s thoughts, their words, the room, the table, your feeling, your mood. She had an addiction to controlling all of it and everybody.?
On how hard it was for her
?Every day I went home and I was miserable,? Jenny told me. ?It really was the most miserable I?ve been on a job in my 25 years of show business.?
[From Vulture]
This excerpt opened with Jenny describing Barbara taking her aside and yelling at her during her first appearance on The View as a guest in 2007. Barbara rightfully called her out for saying autism can be cured, only in Jennys story Barbara was using a straw man argument against her that wasnt true. She tells another story of when she was working there about Barbara accusing her of not flushing a tampon in the bathroom that wasnt hers. I dont doubt that Barbara was a horrible boss and an emotionally abusive person, weve heard that about her for years. If Jennys first encounter with her was so awful, why did she sign on to the show? I realize this sounds like Im blaming the victim, but Jenny wasnt a victim, she was a grown woman who made a bad career decision, years after she went on a press tour claiming that her sons autism was caused by vaccines and that she cured him by changing his diet. Shes never rolled back any of those claims, shes just changed her story about what she said.

We can go months without talking about Jenny McCarthy, so isn?t it interesting that suddenly she wants attention right now? She attended the Grammy Awards with her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, because he was a presenter. Jenny decided to debut her new hairstyle: Smurf blue hair. It did not go over well, possibly because Jenny?s so full of Botox and bulls–t that people rightly assumed she was just pulling a dumb-famewhore stunt rather than ?oh, I?m so fun and vivacious!? She looked like a Disney villain.
Well, Jenny still has blue hair, and she still wants attention. Which is why she and Donnie attended the Leather & Laces Super Bowl LII party in Minneapolis this weekend. They walked the red carpet and everything. I guess it?s not that big of a deal – I mean, it?s not like she has a lot of sh-t on her plate these days? Of course they could travel to Minneapolis to attend the parties and the Super Bowl. Donnie is a big Patriots fan – the whole Wahlberg family is ride-or-die for the Pats and Tom Brady. So it’s sort of funny that LOOK AT ME Jenny McCarthy’s team lost, right?
I guess what?s notable here is that Jenny is really leaning into the Disney Villainess thing with her blue helmet hair. She looks Cruella de Vil scalped some Muppets to make a f–ked up wig.

| Jenny McCarthy: Begged to Come Back By 'The View' Producers?! | Added 9 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

Last year she was unceremoniously dismissed from her co-host chair at ?The View,? and now Jenny McCarthy has revealed that the honchos thought better of their hasty decision.
During her interview on ?The Howard Stern Show,? the former ?Singled Out? starlet declared, ?One of the producers called and said would I ever consider it? And I said, ?No, thank you.? Because I couldn?t be me. I think they might try one more year and then I think the Titanic might go down.?
Jenny?s husband Donnie Wahlberg also chimed in, ?She?s very gracious about ?The View,? and I will say, I told her the day she left, ?They?re gonna ask you back within six months. And she won?t say it, but they did. Not officially, but they did.?

| Jenny McCarthy: 'I?m so tired of being that strong, independent woman' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?ve spent too much time thinking about Jenny McCarthy in the past 24 hours. She?s been in mist during the ongoing political clusterwhoops over vaccines, have you noticed that? After years of being the face of the Anti-Vax movement, Jenny has spent the past few years trying to walk away from that association. But her fingerprints are still all over this current mess, just my opinion. So why has Jenny tried to walk away from the Anti-Vax thing? Because The New Jenny McCarthy is all about being Mrs. Donnie Wahlberg. She?s not interested in being political or independent or strong anymore. Seriously, she just said that.
If you can’t tell from all their sweet kisses, Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg are madly in love! But more than five months after getting married, the SiriusXM radio host still hasn’t taken her man’s last name. So, what’s the hold up?!
“We have discussed it and I am ready to be Jenny Wahlberg,” she told E! News before supporting the New England Patriots during Super Bowl weekend. “I just haven’t been through the paperwork.” She added, “We work seven days a week and it’s not as easy as I thought. You don’t just go to the DMV and take a new picture. There is a lot to be done.”
It also helps that your man is totally chill with waiting throughout the process.
“It should be Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg and professionally, Jenny McCarthy,” the New Kids On The Block member explained to E! News. “She worked her ass off for so many years to be in the position she’s in her career that there’s no reason to put my name on the back of that.”
What could be most surprising to McCarthy fans is that the TV personality really wanted to keep her last name years ago. Today, she’s not about that life.
“I remember way back when I was Miss Independent. I would never take anybody’s name and as I get older, I want to be the girl. I’m so tired of being that strong, independent woman.? She added while laughing, “I want to be dependent and a girl and a wife and domesticated. I crave it after being alone for so long. I want to be Mrs. Wahlberg.”
[From E! News]
I must have missed all those years when Jenny was alone. She was married, she had a son, she got divorced and started up with Jim Carrey. They were together for years. Then they were over, and she dated around and then she got with Donnie. If you can find a six-month period of time where she was single, please give me a heads up. As for wanting to give up her independence? eh, I think she sounds like a vapid fool, but it?s her choice and she?s not saying that every woman needs to follow her lead. I wonder what she?ll say about it when she and Donnie split up?

| Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg get a reality show, Donnie Loves Jenny | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Given Donnie Wahlberg’s involvement in his family’s reality show, and Jenny McCarthy’s lack of a filter or any common sense this seemed inevitable: Donnie and Jenny are getting their own reality show. It will be a 10 show series following their newlywed life and will be titled Donnie Loves Jenny. This sounds like such a great idea, because no new couple’s relationship was ever negatively impacted by a reality show in which they played exaggerated versions of themselves. The show will premiere in early 2015. Here’s more, thanks to US Magazine:
Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg will star on a new reality docuseries that will chronicle their newlywed life, beginning with their nuptials, A&E Network announced Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Donnie Loves Jenny, a 10-episode reality show, will follow McCarthy and Wahlberg’s shift into married life after the stars tied the knot this past August outside of Chicago. As exclusively reported by Us Weekly ? with plenty of photos! ? the two exchanged vows before 90 guests in an intimate 20-minute ceremony…
The couple discussed their latest joint endeavor (which they will also be co-producing along with 44 Blue Productions) in a statement Tuesday. “Not only have we found a new home together, we have found the perfect place for our exciting new projects to live with A&E Network,” they said. “We?re so excited about this deal and look forward to a long and successful relationship creating entertaining and provocative unscripted programming with our partners at A&E. Our feeling is, who better to make our first show for the network about than about us? We love working together and with our crazy schedules this gives us the chance to both work and play together.”
[From US Magazine]
According to their statement, Jenny and Donnie are so busy they can barely find time to spend together so they came up with the brilliant idea to pitch a reality show. This way they can make money whenever they’re able to see each other, with the minor trade off of their privacy. You know, they seem kind of perfect for each other. They’re definitely on the same page when it comes to promoting themselves. I give it two years.
In the gallery are some photos of Donnie and Jenny’s wedding which we never got around to publishing.

Despite the fact that marriage and reality TV don?t necessarily work that well together, Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy are giving it a go anyway.
The former ?View? star and her New Kids On The Block singer hubby just signed a deal with the A&E Network for a 10-episode series called ?Donnie Loves Jenny.?
Earlier today, McCarthy and Wahlberg (who will serve as co-producers) released the following statement- "Not only have we found a new home together, we have found the perfect place for our exciting new projects to live with A&E Network."
"We're so excited about this deal and look forward to a long and successful relationship creating entertaining and provocative unscripted programming with our partners at A&E. In addition to the Labor Day holiday, this past weekend was extra-special for Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg as they just got hitched on Sunday (August 31).
According to a report, the New Kids on the Block singer and his ?Singled Out? bride said ?I Do? at the historic Hotel Baker in St. Charles, Illinois (near McCarthy?s hometown Chicago) in front of guests that included Sherri Shepard, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight and Donny Wood.
Unfortunately, Donnie?s brother Mark Wahlberg didn?t make it to the event, as his daughter Ella?s 11th birthday party conflicted with the date.
The ?Italian Job? hunk sent a sweet video, though- "I love you, Donnie, we're very happy for you. Sorry we couldn't be there, we'll see you soon."
As for the bride?s apparel, Jenny picked up her dress at Bergdorf Goodman and looked stunning. She previously told People that she didn?t necessarily need a crazy fancy fete- "I could get married in Kentucky Fried Chicken. I don't care as long as the heart is in the ceremony."

Fun fact: whenever I come across Donnie Wahlberg?s name, I say ?Donnie? to myself in my Donnie Brasco accent, like he?s mobbed up. DAH-NEE. Anyway, as we discussed a little bit yesterday, Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg got married. Mark Wahlberg was not there. Most of Donnie?s family did not attend. Something about how the family doesn?t care for Jenny, which? eh, I understand. According to People, they got married on Sunday in St. Charles, Illinois.
Call her the new Mrs. Wahlburgers. Former View co-host Jenny McCarthy and Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg have made it official, tying the knot Sunday at the historic Hotel Baker in St. Charles, Illinois, outside McCarthy’s hometown of Chicago, sources confirm to PEOPLE.
The bride, 41, wore a gown she picked up at Berdorf Goodman, a source tells PEOPLE, after the couple was spotted at the store’s bridal shop in July. The fte was a bit fancier than McCarthy previously joked.
“I could get married in Kentucky Fried Chicken,” she told PEOPLE in July. “I don’t care as long as the heart is in the ceremony.”
Guests included Sherri Shepherd, who posted an Instagram photo en route to Chicago, as well as three members of New Kids on the Block: Jordan Knight, Danny Wood and Jonathan Knight. One person who didn’t make it to Sunday’s event was the groom’s brother Mark Wahlberg, who Tweeted his good wishes and posted a congratulatory video.
“I love you, Donnie, we’re very happy for you,” he says in the video, surrounded by his wife and four kids. “Sorry we couldn’t be there, we’ll see you soon.”
This is the second marriage for both. McCarthy’s son Evan, 12, helped with the April proposal by hand-delivering notes to his mom with the words “Will” and “You” and “Marry” before Wahlberg, 45, walked in with a t-shirt that said “Me?” Wahlberg also has two sons: Xavier, 21, and Elijah, 13. The couple began dating last summer before Wahlberg proposed in April.
“The very first time I saw him, I was in the eighth grade and New Kids on the Block was on MTV,” McCarthy has said of Wahlberg’s boy band days. “I thought Donnie was the hottest one.”
[From People]
Well, congrats. I actually think Jenny and Donnie are somewhat well-suited for each other. I used to like him a lot but I?ve heard stuff about how his first marriage ended and nowadays I just kind of think they deserve each other. So, congrats. May you two be very happy together for the next three years or so, or however long this marriage lasts.
Here?s Mark Wahlberg?s congratulatory Instagram video. This is literally the least he could do for his brother, I guess.

They can?t seem to get enough of each other and on Sunday (August 17) Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg were pretty handsy at LAX International Airport.
The ?Singled Out? starlet and her New Kids on the Block fianc couldn?t keep their hands to themselves as they waited to board an outbound flight and they didn?t seem to mind all the attention they were getting.
On Saturday, Donnie?s television program ?The Wahlburgers? lost out to ?Deadliest Catch? at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
McCarthy tweeted, ?Congrats to my baby @DonnieWahlberg for @Wahlburgers Emmy nom today. So proud of you,? and Wahlberg also chimed in, ?Sometimes when you lose you really win! #LifeIsGreat.?

| Jenny McCarthy's son called cops on her for texting & driving, she took away his phone | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I finally gave in and got an iPhone this spring. I needed to be able to text my friends back quicker, because my old phone was too hard to use. Now that I have a decent phone, I struggle with not checking it when I’m driving. I’ve promised myself that I will never text and drive and that I will not check the phone even when stopped at a light. I see other people texting and driving all the time, and I’ve seen my friends do it. (I will tell them to cut it out.) Even though texting and driving is illegal almost everywhere, it’s hard to resist. I hope I will never do it, and I hope I can teach my son not to text and drive or even check his phone. One moment of not paying attention while you’re driving and you can seriously injure or kill yourself or someone else. Cars are no joke.
Loudmouth Jenny McCarthy apparently told her 12 year-old son, Evan, that it’s illegal to text and drive. The kid took her so seriously that he called the cops on her when he witnessed her doing it. Evan is autistic, and from what I understand people on the autistic spectrum can take things literally and see them in black and white. So what did Jenny do? She threw the kid’s phone out the window.
On her show, Dirty, Sexy, Funny, McCarthy said that one time she was texting a [sic] driving, which has become a big no-no on the road. Her son, well aware of this legal snafu, decided to call the police from his own cell phone to report the crime.
He said to the men in uniform, ??My mom is texting and driving right now.? True story.?
Because texting and driving is a huge offense, the TV personality knew there was only one thing she could do not to get arrested or receive a ticket ? throw her son?s phone out the window.
She also let told her listeners about the time she snuck out for a cigarette, only to be caught by her law-loving son once again.
?He called 911 and said, ?I am alone in the house. My mom abandoned me,?? McCarthy said. ?I go back in the house and it?s 911 and they?re like, ?Your child just called. Is there an emergency?? I?m like, ?What? No! Everything is fine.??
Fortunately for the future-Mrs. Wahlberg, she has yet to be obtained [sic] as a result of her son?s complaints.
[From Radar Online]
I get that Jenny needs little anecdotes to tell on her show so she can get press, but this is ridiculous. Yet again she’s violating her son’s privacy by telling an embarrassing story about him. Also, this makes her come across as an a-hole as usual. Her son called the cops so instead of explaining to the 911 operator that he’s autistic, or instead of owning up to her mistake and getting a ticket, she ditched the poor kid’s phone. What kind of lesson is that teaching him? Don’t tell on mommy or you’ll pay and she’ll tell the whole world about it.
The “mommy abandoned me” story sounds like she’s not telling Evan when she’s leaving the house. Even if she’s just popping out to have a smoke, she needs to explain it to him so that he understands.
