Last night, Elle Magazine hosted their annual Women In Hollywood event, where they honored the stars of film, fashion and music. There was a cloud over the event because some of the biggest honorees the women of The Eternals had to cancel their appearances because they had been exposed to Covid the night before, at their premiere. All of which meant that there was more attention on the women who did attend. Ciara?s high-slit gown got so much attention the gown is Monot, and Ciara paired it with Bulgari jewels. I love her hair right now too she?s just so beautiful and sexy.

I remember when Ciara first came on the scene and how much people talked about her body back then. To my eyes, little has really changed. Yes, she?s gone through two pregnancies and worked to ?get her body back? both times, but the muscle memory is real with Ciara. She?s always been so athletic-looking, which basically the kind of curves-to-muscle ratio that most women want for themselves. But to hear Ciara tell it, she was 20 pounds heavier in her early days as a singer and she had to learn, over time, how to take better care of her body. Some highlights from this People Magazine interview:
Her early days: ?When I first started in my career, I weighed 20 lbs. more than I weigh now. That was the first time I got introduced to eating five small meals a day to impact my workout.?
Eating small meals: The ?Level Up? singer, who brought her personal trainer, Decker Davis, to the Propel Co:Labs Fitness Festival in Santa Monica on July 20, says that eating small meals still works for her today, nearly 15 years later. ?When you?re eating small meals, your body starts to function like a well-oiled machine. You?re using the restroom regularly so your body is really on clock.?
Her secret is drinking a lot of water: ?I literally drink a gallon and a half a day. It?s amazing how you can work out hard all day, but if you don?t eat right you won?t see the results you want to see and if you don?t drink that water you won?t get the results as fast as you want to get them.?
Her current workout: ?It?s a combination of plyometrics (jump training), cardiovascular work, and also weight lifting all in one kind of thing. It?s a full on circuit that allows me to hit every target area.? She admits that her workouts get more ?intense? when husband Wilson joins in: ?It?s ? what I like to call ?good love competition.? We motivate each other and it?s really fun.?

I think of all the diets celebrities talk about, I could probably get down with ?five small meals a day.? I?m not great at food-withholding and I?m terrible at food elimination or any kind of strict diet. But eating smaller portions five times a day? I could probably do that. For a time. I do prefer to just eat light throughout the day and then have ?one big meal? (usually an early dinner) though. What else? Ciara is right about water. People always say ?blah blah you should drink a lot of water? but you really do notice a difference with your skin, your body and your workouts when you?re properly hydrated.

The BET Awards were held last night, and as always, I?m expecting at least one ?why isn?t there a WHITE entertainment awards show huh?? comment. It always happens with the BET Awards and the NAACP Image Awards someone?s always gotta be the one to argue that there are not enough awards shows celebrating white artists. Anyway, you can see the list of this year?s BET Award winners here. I?m just going to cover some of the fashion and some of the speeches and performances in another post.
Ciara wore this Jean Paul Gaultier dress which? it looks like something she would wear, it?s on-brand for her and honestly, you would really have to try to make Ciara look bad. I dislike the dress itself while still thinking that Ciara looks great.
Yara Shahidi in Prabal Gurung. Yara is such a beautiful young woman, but I don?t get the turtleneck, the weird drape on the skirt or the fact that someone stuck a J.Crew-looking sweater on top of it??
After years of putting up with Chris Brown?s crap, Karrueche Tran is with Victor Cruz and they seem happy. I don?t mind the ?oversized suit jacket? look, but I don?t get the pants here.
I truly didn?t recognize Blac Chyna, she looks like Blonde Marge Simpson.
Lil? Kim was there and she performed with Mary J. Blige, who won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Lil Nas X rolled up to the BET Awards with Billy Ray Cyrus and I DO NOT HATE IT. Billy Ray collaborated on the remix of Old Town Road and it wasamazing, actually.
And finally, Rihanna turned up she didn?t walk the carpet, but she was there to present the award to Mary J. Blige. Love the leather, honestly. Is this one of Rihanna?s own designs?

The Dundas people sent us press releases for a few of these dresses before the Met Gala, which we always appreciate. Their description for Ciaras gown calls this a custom embellished gown with ostrich feathered hem paired with matching embellished gloves, belt and choker. She paired it with an emerald crystal head piece by House of Malakai and custom sandals by Gianvitto Rossi. This is showgirl camp, its incredible and her styling is just right. Her hair caught my eye on the red carpet and the overall look is just outstanding.
Poppy Delevingne was in a Custom Dundas black tailored jacket with embellished cigarette trousers, embellished tuxedo belt with a gold paillettes and crystal encrusted floor length coat. That coat really makes this outfit. I think her sister Cara got the theme a little more, but this is also awesome and very 70s.

Gah! Ciara was so extra-beautiful when she was pregnant, right? I already thought Ciara was so pretty, but pregnancy really made her glow. Plus, I genuinely believe that she?s very happy with her new husband Russell Wilson. Maybe ?saving yourself? for marriage actually works? Anyway, less than ten months ago, Ciara and Russell Wilson got married. She basically got pregnant on their honeymoon, which is what happens when you save yourself for marriage too. Ciara welcomed a baby girl at some point in the past week, I think. Here?s the confirmation:

Ciara and Russell Wilson got married back in July. They went to England for the wedding and the whole thing went down at a castle and so many people came out to celebrate them. I thought the bride?s wedding gown was tacky, but that?s another conversation. Russell and Ciara rather famously decided to wait to have sex until after the wedding. It was a little bit like closing the barn door after the horse has bolted, considering Ciara already has a child and Russell was no virgin. But sure. They made that promise and they stuck with it. Apparently, they were really enjoying their honeymoon and Russell took her to the Bone Zone all over the place. And surprise! She probably got pregnant on her honeymoon.
Is Ciara about to become a mom again? That’s the question on many fans’ minds recently, particularly on the heels of her recent public appearance as Revlon’s newest global brand ambassador. The “Goodies” songstress arrived to the Refinery Hotel in New York City on Tuesday night in honor of the brand dressed in an all-white ensemble with a loose fitting tuxedo jacket.
“Baby bumpin,” one fan commented on Instagram. “Exactly…,” another fan quipped back.
While she has not commented on the speculation, two sources do tell E! News the 30-year-old is expecting.
“Ciara is pregnant and is so excited to be a mom,” one source told E! News. “Russell [Wilson] would like to have two to three children. They both would like a big family.”

This is what concerned me about the whole ?not giving up the cookies until you get the ring? thing ? like, what fun is it if you get pregnant right away? What is this, the 1950s? Enjoy yourselves for a year, then get pregnant! But whatever, it?s not my body or my marriage. I?m guessing Ciara probably is knocked up, and she?s probably about thirteen weeks, matching up nearly exactly to the honeymoon. Congrats you two crazy kids!

As we learned two weeks ago, Ciara and Russell Wilson are engaged after about a year of dating. Ciara and Russell?s relationship has always been surprisingly public ? they were walking red carpets together after only dating for a few months, and even more than that, they have both publicly discussed the fact that they aren?t having sex. They are waiting until marriage? or maybe this engagement, I don?t know. I suspect they?re waiting for marriage. But surely the engagement gets them to second base?
Anyway, Russell proposed to Ciara while they were on vacation overseas, but now they?re back in the states, and Ciara had a gig this weekend in Las Vegas. This was her first public appearance since the engagement. She performed at the Marquee, and rather adorably, she made sure that all of the photographers got some good shots of her engagement ring. Apparently, it?s a 16-carat flawless diamond. From Us Weekly:

I really love looking at photos of engagement rings and really any kind of jewelry, and this ring is? alright. On a scale of Jennifer Aniston?s cloudy, quartz-like ?diamond? (on the low end) to Mariah Carey?s crazy-perfect diamond, this one seems to be sort of in the middle for me. I actually like the setting a lot, but I?m not crazy about the old-school feel of the cut of the central diamond. Still, it?s pretty and I bet Russell paid a fortune for it.

Russell Wilson and Ciara were just in Paris last week for fashion week. I thought it was sort of strange that they both got invited to some events, but I thought maybe Ciara was invited and she just brought Russell as her plus-one. As it turns out, their Paris trip was part of a larger vacation. Russell surprised his girlfriend of about a year with a trip to the exclusive resort North Island in Seychelles. They spent a few days fishing, swimming and having fun, and then Russell proposed. She said yes and they both posted the video after the proposal. You should watch it just to see Ciara flash her absolutely enormous rock (reportedly worth about $2 million).
