Last week, Taylor Swift?s fandom was in shambles. Tickets for Taylor?s Eras Tour went on sale, but there were a series of terrible events. People waited hours online to pay thousands of dollars for tickets, but most people were shut out of Ticketmaster entirely. There was also immediately a huge secondary market for tickets with exorbitant resale prices. All of it was a catastrophe for Ticketmaster, less so for Taylor Swift personally. If anything, the debacle has put a huge target on Ticketmaster?s back, as the full, punitive force of the Snake Fam has come barrelling down on the Ticketmaster monopoly. Still, Taylor made a statement about it:
?Well. It goes without saying that I?m extremely protective of my fans. We?ve been doing this for decades together and over the years, I?ve brought so many elements of my career in house,? she began her statement that was posted to social media. ?I?ve done this SPECIFICALLY to improve the quality of my fans? experience by doing it myself with my team who care as much about my fans as I do. It?s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse.?
Swift said there was ?a multitude of reasons? why people had ?such a hard time trying to get tickets? and is trying to figure out how to ?improve? the disastrous rollout moving forward.
?I?m not going to make excuses for anyone because we asked them, multiple times, if they could handle this time of demand and we were assured they could,? she continued. ?It?s truly amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them.?
Swift, 32, said she hopes to provide ?more opportunities? to get together with her fans who weren?t able to get tickets.
?Thank you for wanting to be there,? she concluded. ?You have no idea how much that means.?
Ticketmaster made the announcement Thursday, devastating legions of Swifties who were unable to secure concert tickets.

Y?all know I rarely give Taylor a pass, but this was not her fault. She?s planning an international stadium tour, which means she had little choice but to work with Ticketmaster. For a control freak like Taylor, I?m sure this disaster is weighing on her. She made sure she got all kinds of assurances from Ticketmaster that they could handle the kind of heat her tour would bring. Ticketmaster failed her and her fans. The company knows it too, because they issued a statement after Taylor:
Ticketmaster doesn?t want any ?bad blood? with Taylor Swift and her fans. Following the disastrous ticket sale for the ?Eras Tour,? the company offered a formal apology to the singer, as well as her legions of fans known as Swifties on Friday.
?We want to apologize to Taylor and all of her fans ? especially those who had a terrible experience trying to purchase tickets. We feel we owe it to everyone to share some information to help explain what happened,? the company tweeted, along with a link to a lengthy breakdown of how fans were shut out of purchasing tickets.
On Thursday, Swifties were left furious to discover that they had been locked out of the general sale for the ?Anti-Hero? singer?s highly anticipated tour.
?Due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand, tomorrow?s public on-sale for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour has been cancelled,? Ticketmaster tweeted without further explanation.

Yeah, Ticketmaster fked up and this lukewarm apology is nowhere near enough. Interestingly, the New York Times is reporting that the Department of Justice has opened up an ?antitrust investigation into the owner of Ticketmaster,? an investigation which predates the Eras Tour debacle but will likely be expanded to include this fiasco. The Biden administration is particularly anti-monopoly, so this Eras mess happened at an interesting time politically.

Taylor Swift made a ?surprise? appearance on last night?s VMA black carpet. She posed for photos on the carpet, she stayed for the entire VMA show and she accepted a VMA from Nicki Minaj for Video of the Year for her 10-minute version of ?All Too Well,? which she directed. Tay wore this bejeweled Oscar de la Renta dress which is cool but also kind of? dated in a way? It looks nice on her, but I feel like I saw versions of this dress a million times a decade ago. The big styling news was not her dress but her hair Taylor has been doing thick, straight bangs for several years now but last night, her stylist attempted some kind of ?side-swept bangs? look. Someone said her bangs looked like Daphne Bridgerton?s and now I can?t unsee it.
So, all in all, it was worth it for Taylor to show up at the VMAs simply to accept the biggest prize, Video of the Year, correct? No, Taylor had something else up her diamond-encrusted sleeve. She?s apparently recorded a completely new album called Midnights. She teased the announcement in her Video of the Year speech, then she posted the announcement on her social media? at midnight. It?s coming out on October 21. If you told me that Midnights was ready months ago and Taylor decided to push the release back to give Adele and Beyonce leeway, I would believe you (even though no one is talking about Adele?s album at this point).

Recently, Kylie Jenner was named a ?climate criminal? for her obscene use of her private jet. Kylie uses her jet to fly around LA County and the surrounding areas, sometimes with flights as short as twelve minutes. Truly bonkers. What?s even crazier is that Kylie doesn?t even make the top ten for ?celebrities with a massive carbon footprint.? The worst climate criminal is none other than Taylor Swift, apparently. Taylor has at least two private jets, in addition to homes in Nashville, LA, New York and I think London as well. She travels around to all of her homes and then some by private jet, apparently never commercial.
Celebrities using private jets to take short trips have become a hot topic lately with many people criticizing the Kardashian and Jenner family for their frequent trips but a new study has revealed the biggest perpetrator of it none other than Taylor Swift.
Yard, a digital marketing agency that focuses on sustainability, conducted a study using data from celebrities public private jet usage statistics, to find out who is flying the most.
To everyones surprise, Swift tops the CO2 emission list with 170 flights since January, racking up 8,293.54 tonnes of emissions this year.
Swifts emissions are 1,184.8 times more than the average persons total annual emissions, according to Yard.
The company says her shortest flight was a 36-minute flight from Nashville to Missouri and her average flight time is around 80 minutes.
Most people may have thought Jenner was the largest culprit of over-utilizing her private jet since shes faced backlash in the media for taking short flights and bragging about her expensive transportation. But Jenner isnt even on the top 10 list, although her sister Kim Kardashian is number seven and her boyfriend Travis Scott is number 10.

Swift?s spokesperson issued an interesting denial, telling Buzzfeed that ?Taylor?s jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals. To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect.? Meaning, I think, that Taylor?s two jets are probably available to rent for a price, as many corporate jets are. That would explain why Taylor?s fans are sometimes confused about her movements too, because they?re tracking her jets without realizing that Taylor isn?t always the person using her jets. Still, Taylor is using her jet(s) a lot. Too much. As many have pointed out, shes not even touring this year and her jet is being used (sometimes/most of the time by Tay) a lot. Obviously, Taylor is not the only celebrity or rich person overusing private jets, but this fking sucks.

This week, the Grammy nominations came out. I remarked that the categories seemed expanded, because (going by my own memory) I didn?t remember a time when there were eight or nine artists or albums in the big categories. I assumed that I just missed the announcement that categories were being expanded and shrugged. As it turns out, it was a bit more complicated than that. Twenty-four hours before the nominations came out, the Recording Academy had a meeting in which they added a bunch of artists and albums into the categories. So half-assed. It?s also kind of funny because that meeting was the reason why Taylor Swift?s Evermore and Kanye West?s Donda were added to Album of the Year. Those albums would not have gotten in without that Recording Academy meeting on Monday:
The organization behind the Grammy Awards decided at a meeting on Monday ? just 24 hours before this year?s nominees were announced ? that the top categories should expand to 10 nominees from eight, a last-minute move that added stars like Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Abba and Lil Nas X to the existing slate of potential winners. When the nominations were revealed on a live webcast the next morning, Harvey Mason Jr., the chief executive of Recording Academy, hailed the surprise shift as a way ?to make room for more music, more artists and more genres, and to embrace the spirit of inclusion.?
But among the added names were some of pop?s biggest stars and people who were already on the ballot elsewhere. For album of the year, the two contenders added to the ballot were Swift?s ?Evermore? and West?s ?Donda,? joining titles by Justin Bieber, Olivia Rodrigo, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, Doja Cat, H.E.R., Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X and Jon Batiste.
The nod for ?Evermore? was Swift?s sole nomination for her own music on Tuesday. (She is also nominated as a songwriter on Rodrigo?s ?Sour.?) West?s nomination for ?Donda? brought his career total to 75.
It was possible to discover which artists benefited from the expansion because their names were absent from an early version of the ?final nominations list? that had been created several days before the announcement and included only eight names in those categories. That version had begun circulating outside the Recording Academy before the nominations were announced on Tuesday, and a copy of it was obtained by The New York Times.
The expansion in the top categories comes after the academy has trumpeted a new era of openness and transparency in its awards process. The 64th annual Grammys will be the first in more than 30 years without the use of anonymous nomination review committees, which were charged with whittling down voters? choices to create the final ballot ? a step that was intended to safeguard the awards? integrity but was accused of allowing manipulation behind the scenes.
Mason defended the move to add more nominees as a sign of a newly nimble, responsive Recording Academy, and said that the added names brought new sounds, styles and faces to the top categories. ?For us this is all positive movement,? he said. ?This is us honoring more great artists, more great music, giving artists an opportunity to shine and showcase.?
Mason said that the artists added to the list were simply the ninth and tenth most voted by the academy?s members, and were determined by Deloitte, the academy?s longtime partner in collecting and tabulating votes.

The ninth and tenth most voted? That?s a huge slam for artists like Swift and West. Their peers didn?t think their albums were ?the top eight? albums and Swift and West would not have gotten those nominations without a behind-the-scenes intervention. The Times also points out that in the Record of the Year category, Lil Nas X?s ?Montero? and Abba?s ?I Still Have Faith in You? were the last-minute additions. For Song of the Year, the last-minute editions were: Doja Cat?s ?Kiss Me More? and ?Right on Time? by Brandi Carlile. In an effort to be more inclusive and expansive, the Recording Academy is out here, handing out (insulting) participation trophies to some of the biggest stars in music. Which just begs the question, again, what is wrong with Recording Academy voters that they couldnt get it right the first time?

Taylor Swift made an appearance at last night?s BRIT Awards in London. She knew she would receive the Global Icon Award, so that?s why she showed up. She was actually the first non-English artist to win that award, and the first woman. Tay wore this two-piece Miu Miu which? isn?t bad. It?s not ?great? but the fit is better than I would have expected from Miu Miu. I guess post-pandemic fashion is going to be very midriff-y, going by this look and all of the midriffs at the Oscars. With this look, people think Taylor is giving a clue about the next album she?s re-recording, or perhaps already re-recorded. She wore these kinds of looks during her 1989 era. But the hair, you guys! Those damn bangs are making my eye twitch and, while she did have bangs during that era, they didn?t look like this.
As for Taylor?s speech? she was presented the award by Maisie Williams, and there was a video tribute and all of that. Tay prepared a speech and I?m happy to say that it wasn?t all? um, Tay?s typical speechifying.
Swift thanked the people who made appearances during a sizzle reel about her career, including Ed Sheeran, Selena Gomez, Zo Kravitz and Annie Lennox. (Taylor Swift is the same girl I met when I was 15. And she cares so deeply for her fans, Gomez said in it. I wish I could be there to support you and hang out with you. You are amazing.) Swift then thanked her collaborators, including Jack Antonoff, Justin Vernon, Aaron Dessner and her boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
I want to thank my friends and family who know exactly who they are, whose opinion of me never changed whether my stock was up or down, she said. If theres one thing that Ive learned its that you have to look around you every day and take note of the people who have always believed in you and never stop appreciating them for it. Never take them for granted. There are so many incredible new artists in this room tonight, and a lot of people watching who have goals and ambitions and dreams for themselves. I need you to hear me when I say that there is no career path that comes free of negativity. If youre being met with resistance, that probably means that youre doing something new.
If youre experiencing turbulence or pressure, that probably means youre rising. And there might be times when you put your whole heart and soul into something, and if it is met with cynicism or skepticism, you cannot let that crush you, you have to let it fuel you. We live in a world where anyone has the right to say anything that they want about you at any time, but just please remember that you have the right to prove them wrong.

I?m honestly suspicious of people who have ample time to watch the latest Netflix offerings on the day they come out. Last week, a new Netflix series came out called Ginny & Georgia. I guess it?s supposed to be the new Gilmore Girls or something, and the story is about a 30-year-old mother and her 15-year-old daughter. In the final episode of the season, a pop culture ?joke? appeared:
Season 1 of the series, which follows 15-year-old Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and her 30-year-old mom Georgia (Brianne Howey), released last Wednesday and features 10 episodes. In the finale, titled The Worst Betrayal Since Jordyn and Kylie, the mother-daughter duo are fighting when Ginny says to her mom: What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift.?

The joke is bad. It doesn?t even make sense given the current pop culture image of Taylor Swift. It?s a joke which would have been based in some kind of factual snake drama in, say, 2012/13. But in the year of our lord Beyonce 2021? No, the joke is lazy and culturally irrelevant. Taylor has been with Joe Alwyn for more than four years. Sure, she did Tom Hiddleston dirty before she got to Joe, but there are other, better jokes to be made about THAT. Taylor Swift is so obsessed with her personal numerology that she decided to crash an already hectic news week. Today is 2/11, and 2 + 11 = 13, her favorite number, her lucky number. So today we got the long-awaited announcement: Taylor has re-recorded her album Fearless, which was one of the albums bought by Scooter Braun?s corporate consortium in the purchase of Big Machine. Taylor?s fans knew that she was working on re-recording her first six albums as a way to screw over Scooter Braun, who owns the original masters of all of those albums. The intention is to get the Snake Fam to buy up the new-old albums and devalue the Braun-held OG masters.
Taylor Swift made a brief appearance on Good Morning America today to share big news: More music is coming?old new music, actually. The singer revealed that the highly-anticipated re-recording of one of her biggest singles, 2009s Love Story, will come out at midnight. She is also releasing her full re-recording album of Fearless soon, and it will have 26 songs?more than the 13-track original. She didnt specify its exact release date yet.
I?m so excited to share with you that tonight at midnight, I?ll be putting out my version of my song Love Story, which was originally on my album Fearless, Swift started. I?ve now finished re-recording all of Fearless, which will be coming out soon. My version of Fearless will have 26 songs on it because I decided to add songs from the vault, which are songs that almost made the original Fearless album, but I?ve now gone back and recorded those so that everyone will be able to hear not only the songs that made the album but the songs that almost made it, the full picture.
The singers note included a hidden message. If you string together the capitalized letters, it spells out April Ninth?April is the fourth month of the year, and 4+9 = Taylors lucky number of 13.

Oh well, at least she?s actually giving the Snake Fam even more new material, in the form of newly recorded old songs which never made it onto the original Fearless album. Since I?m not part of the Snake Fam, I sometimes forget that Taylor Swift has actually been in a very serious relationship for the past four years. Reportedly, Taylor met Joe Alwyn in the fall of 2016, just as she was ending things with Tom Hiddleston (RIP Tiddles). Joe and Taylor were pretty quiet about their relationship for months, but slowly she let the Snake Fam see bits and pieces of her thing with Joe. Throughout the past four years though? this relationship has just been different from anything she?s ever been through. She seems genuinely content with Joe and there hasn?t been the strong ?performative love? aspect, which has been common with other boyfriends. Sure, I think Tay and Joe look like brother and sister, but even I have to admit that they seem like a mature match and a good match. So, no surprise, we?re hearing now that Tay and Joe are in it for the long haul.
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are in it for the long haul. The singer and the actor have been dating for about four years and appear to be stronger than ever. Just last week, they were photographed holding hands on a rare outing in London, where they are quarantining together.
A source tells ET, Taylor has gotten more and more comfortable being public with Joe and letting fans in on their romance in a way that she feels is still protecting it. She loves Joe so much and, of course, is not trying to hide their relationship, but she prefers to keep specific details private. Taylor and Joe are in it for the long haul and totally see a future with each other. They don?t need outside praise or attention and are so fulfilled just being with each other and growing together as a couple.
Alwyn and Swifts time spent together in quarantine, meanwhile, has been great for the pair. They even collaborated on her album, Folklore, with the actor under the pseudonym William Bowery co-writing a number of her songs, among them Betty and Exile.
Last month, another source told ET that the singers beau has been a great support system as shes dealt with not only the global threat of the coronavirus, but also her mothers health battle.
He is the one constant in her life that she can truly rely on, ETs source said. Joe has helped Taylor with her music, inspiring it. She is so grateful for him and in love with him. He is her cheerleader and rock. They have spoken about their future together and they love celebrating the holidays together.

I always think back to that Graham Norton interview with Taylor and John Cleese, where he spoke about getting a divorce and Taylor joked about that being the reason she wasn?t married. I think she?s very aware of her wealth and how her business would be affected. Hm.

Yesterday, Taylor Swift dropped the big, surprising news: she had secretly recorded yet another full-length album during lockdown this year, and this new album, evermore, was a companion piece/sister album to folklore. I assume this album will have tons of merch too! She?s gonna make so much money, even without touring. Anyway, the album dropped at midnight, as did the first video/single from evermore. This is ?Willow.?
To me, this is just soft, chill music to have on in the background. Good driving music too. But ?Willow? didn?t catch me like ?Cardigan? did, although that?s actually a pretty high bar, imo. I thought ?Cardigan? was one of her best songs/singles in years.
Taylor also released some lyric videos on her YouTube channel. Here?s ?Marjorie,? which is about her grandmother.
Here?s ?Champagne Problems? lyrically, this is kind of interesting. She?s basically like ?yeah, I?m rich and popular but damn, I hurt too!?
