| Cate Blanchett in an Armani blazer at the Venice Film Festival: so chic?? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from the past few days of the Venice Film Festival: Pandemic Edition. I?ve been mostly impressed with Jury President Cate Blanchett?s style choices, especially considering that she?s doing a lot of repeats from her own closet. Her stylist spoke about the messaging behind that Cate wanted ?sustainable? choices for Venice, and Cate wanted to encourage women to look in their closets to rework old looks rather than buying new stuff constantly. On Sunday, Cate wore a more tailored menswear-inspired look: a sparkly Armani blazer over a simple white blouse and white trousers. So chic!
Maya Hawke in Versace. I love the design of this dress, honestly, but I dislike that kind of beige-y/nude on pale white women. To me (and perhaps I?m alone), it doesn?t look good, it looks like a condom was dropped in glitter.
Gia Coppola in Gucci Resort. I hate this so much. It?s massively fussy and dated. She looks like an old-lady lampshade.
Vanessa Kirby in Valentino. This is stunning and dramatic, especially on such a tall woman. I wish her hair wasn?t so severe, it kind of takes away from the dress.
Bonus Vanessa in a black suit & dark lips. Business-goth!

| Cate Blanchett repeats a spectacular custom McQueen at the Venice Film Festival | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

As much as I have concerns about film festivals conducting ?business as usual,? I have to say, I?ve enjoyed the treat of new fashion photos this week. They?re a nice little gift! I didn?t care much for Cate Blanchett?s repeat of that Esteban Cortazar gown on Wednesday night at the Venice Film Festival, but I do applaud her effort to rewear old looks in her closet. And she pulled out a spectacular one last night. Cate originally wore this custom Alexander McQueen top to the 2016 BAFTAs, only at that time, she paired the (absolutely gorgeous) top with a bad skirt. In Venice, Cate put the top with a pair of tuxedo pants which I NEED IN MY LIFE. I need this whole look, actually. That McQueen top is just so special and beautiful.
More photos from Venice: here?s Stacy Martin in Louis Vuitton. I find this? underwhelming. It?s not a bad dress at all and it looks nice on her, but if you?re risking your health to attend a film festival, maybe bring something besides a dinky little cocktail dress?
Frida Aasen in Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition Spring 2020. I kind of love this? Totally appropriate for Venice and just a great, dramatic gown.
Taylor Hill in custom ETRO. This is just a velvet mini-robe and I feel like no one needs to see her Venetian canal!
Bonus: Tilda Swinton wandering around Venice in what amounts to a high-fashion tracksuit.

| Cate Blanchett in Mary Katrantzou at the Golden Globes: alien-fug or alien-fab? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I will forever stan Cate Blanchett?s style because I think she loves clothes and cares about fashion. She also has the kind of personality and look where she can pull off weird, unconventional stuff. But her Mary Katrantzou look at the Golden Globes was awful! It reminded me of one of those little dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, you remember them? I mean, she?s not the worst dressed! But this was a bad look. The boob cups and the sheer whatever yikes.
Rooney Mara in Givenchy. She was just there as Joaquin Phoenix?s date, right? I don?t remember her presenting. Joaquin won and he couldn?t even really finish his thought when he said her name and it was very sweet. That being said, lord she?s such an odd little goth wood sprite.
Rachel Bilson and Bill Hader made their red carpet couple debut. I guess it was sweet? I don?t know, I still haven?t figured it out. She wore Brock Collection a bit twee.

| Cate Blanchett in Armani at the British Fashion Awards: stunning or blah? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are photos from last night?s British Fashion Awards, an annual fashion gala which? I?m sure gives away awards to fashion people. It?s a thing! It?s quite a big event, actually, and it?s always very well-attended with tons of A-listers and B-listers. This year, they got two huge names: Julia Roberts and Cate Blanchett, both acting as guests/muses of Mr. Armani. Both women wore Armani as well Julia wore a jumpsuit (very flattering) and Cate got the bigger ?look? with this lovely gown. I wonder? do you think Julia and Cate worked that out? Or was there a fight about who wore what? Because Cate?s look is so much more special and headline-grabbing.
Emilia Clarke in Schiaparelli Couture. YIKES. I dislike yellow and orange on a red carpet in general, although those colors are all over the place this season. This is just a poorly designed dress though.
Irina Shayk in Burberry. This? is bad? It could have been sort of cool, but the random roses are ruining the look.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Bottega Veneta. I love metallics in winter! She looks like a silver Christmas present. The design of the dress is kind of dumb, but Rosie pulls it off.
Lily James in Valentino Couture. I mean? if she and Matt Smith broke up recently, that might explain this whole look. I would say yes to this dress if I was heartbroken and tired.
Naomi Watts in Burberry. I love a rich velvet look and this is RICH. I?m sort of surprised by how much I love this and want to wear it.
Laura Carmichael in Ralph & Russo. Love her, and I?m sure the dress costs a fortune. But no she?s underdressed for this event and the actual dress kind of sucks.

| Cate Blanchett in Armani at the Venice Film Festival: stiff & unflattering? | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?ll keep saying this: this year?s Venice Film Festival is better than the past two years of Cannes Film Festival coverage. The festival selections are better, the attendees are more fashionable and there are more A-listers in Venice than there were in Cannes. Venice is also doing the old-school Cannes thing of inviting models and random actresses to show up as part of various sponsorships with beauty companies, fashion labels or jewelry houses. All in all, Venice has been glam as hell. So here are some fun fashion photos from the past few days. Cate Blanchett came out for the premiere of Joker, likely as part of her Armani contract (she?s the face of an Armani fragrance). She wore Armani Prive and I kind of hate this? The skirt is way too stiff.
Penlope Cruz in Ralph and Russo. Penelope will just always have that showgirl style, right? She loves ?explosions of tulle.? She loves rhinestones and spangles and sparkly things. This is very on-brand for her.
Call me crazy, but I friggin? love Sienna Miller in this Gucci muumuu. It feels very Indian-influenced and I?m into it.
When Sack Dresses Go Wrong: Meryl Streep Edition. This is Givenchy and it looks? comfortable, I guess. The fabric is actually rather pretty but the design is so bad.
Zazie Beetz in Valentino? I kind of love this? Is that weird? There?s too much fabric up top but I genuinely think this looks cool.
Bella Thorne was there with her new boyfriend Benjamin Mascolo. She wore a see-through Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini dress. I mean? she got some headlines, which was the point.
Barbara Palvin in Armani. LMAO. Do you think Armani green-lighted the Pink bow, or did she add that after the fitting? She looks like she picked that up at CVS.

| Cate Blanchett went brunette & covered herself in weird rocks at the BAFTAs | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Wow, I wasn?t even expecting to see Cate Blanchett at this year?s BAFTAs, but she decided to show up and she decided to debut a LOOK. Cate is known for being a shape-shifter as an actress, especially in the first decade of her film career she had a million hair colors (dyes and wigs) and she would look radically different from one film to the next. But over time, she just started sticking with various shades of blonde when she was not currently in production, so we?ve gotten used to Blonde Blanchett. But Cate turned up at the BAFTAs with a rich brunette shade. I don?t know how to feel! She looks younger, but also? she doesn?t look like herself suddenly. Is the dye job hiding some subtle work? Hm. Her dress was Christopher Kane and it was awful.
Michelle Rodriguez?s hair looks really cute here. I?m not a fan of the champagne-colored dress. Michelle apologized for saying that Liam Neeson can?t be racist, by the way. She said that because Liam French kissed Viola Davis, he can?t be racist. Which isn?t the way any of this works, and Michelle acknowledged that after everyone yelled at her.
Christian Bale has been having a low-key awards season, despite the fact that he?s been picking up some big awards. Is Bale finally chill??
Where were you when Rachel Brosnahan looked like a sad Christmas gift in February? This is Erdem and it?s bad.

| Cate Blanchett in Maison Margiela at the Rome Film Festival: fun drama? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Did you know that Cate Blanchett made a movie with Jack Black? For some reason, I want to believe that they had a ball together as they worked on The House with a Clock In Its Walls. That?s the film Cate was promoting in Rome late last week, at that Rome Film Festival. The movie has been out in America for weeks, but this was likely part of the European promotion for the film. Cate seems like the only one from The House with a Clock in Its Walls sent to Rome on promotion? She was probably there as part of her Armani contract too, although she did not actually wear Armani. Huh.
For the premiere, Cate wore this Maison Margiela gown, designed by John Galliano. Cate is an old-school fan of and believer in Galliano, and she stuck with him even when he was run out of Dior for his drunken hate speech. Say what you will about Galliano, but the man can still design the crap out of some couture. This gown is such DRAMA. I love it. I always love fashion more at the Rome Film Festival, for what it?s worth the red carpet in Rome always makes clothes look more dramatic and enchanting. I?m also including photos of Cate at the photocall, wearing an Acne suit which is super-unflattering. Satin pleated pants, ick.
When in Rome, Cate was whether, at this point, straight actors need to stop playing LGBTQ roles in film and television. Cate thinks it?s fine:
?I will fight to the death for the right to suspend disbelief and play roles beyond my experience. Reality television and all that that entails had an extraordinary impact, a profound impact on the way we view the creation of character. I think it provides a lot of opportunity, but the downside of it is that we now, particularly in America, we expect and only expect people to make a profound connection to a character when its close to their experience.
[From BBC]
I don?t think Cate?s argument is bad, per se people should be able to suspend disbelief, and many people do suspend disbelief. But along with that comes the difficult realization that there are those in the audience who only find gay characters palatable or acceptable if the audience believes that it?s just a straight actor ?pretending.? Not to mention the fact that no openly gay actor has ever won an Oscar for an acting performance. Suspension of disbelief or ingrained homophobia?
Anyway, here?s the trailer for Cate?s silly new movie:

| Cate Blanchett in Armani at the Venice Film Festival: gorgeous or overworked? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?ve been trying to see if any outlet mentioned why Cate Blanchett attended this year?s Venice Film Festival, but I can?t find anything. She was on the jury of the Cannes Film Festival, and she?s usually a fixture at these kinds of events during awards season. But I think she might have just come to Venice this year to? walk some carpets and attend some premieres? She wore a lot of Chopard jewelry, maybe they were paying her to attend. She did wear Armani to both premieres she attended, so maybe Armani was paying her. That?s probably what it was, because she?s already the face of an Armani fragrance, so there you go. I figured it out.
As for Blanchett?s Armani looks she wore the black-and-feathered gown to the premiere of A Star Is Born. I kind of love it? She looks amazing. The asymmetrical gold-and-black gown was for the Suspiria premiere and I kind of hate that one. I hate the sapphire-and-diamond earring choice with that particular gown too.
Thom Yorke attended the Venice premiere of Suspiria because he did the soundtrack/score for the film. His date was Dajana Roncione. And yes, the man wore sandals. I believe they?re Birkenstocks.
Naomi Watts in Dior at the Suspiria premiere this looks very Dior, very worked on, very? eh. It?s not my taste, but she looks fine.
Barbara Palvin in two Armani looks I dislike the gown specifically because it?s on her and it looks much too ?old? and matronly for her. The shorter blue dress is okay but I?m not crazy about it, honestly.
Sara Sampaio in Armani at the ASIB premiere this is completely awful. It?s like she?s wearing a tablecloth with a lace runner.

| Cate Blanchett in Givenchy ruffles at Cannes: surprisingly stunning or a giant nope? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from the notable fashion moments of the Cannes premiere of Spike Lee?s BlacKkKlansman. I realize that for many of you, Cate Blanchett has been canceled. Some of you canceled her years ago, some of you did it recently. She?s still not canceled for me, although my fan-girl crush on her has been over for years now. I think she?s problematic and she needs to sit down by herself and really work out a cohesive, intelligent argument for she feels about sexual predators in her industry. But all that being said, I still enjoy seeing what she?s wearing. She?s the Cannes Jury president, so she?s been attending tons of events and wearing some interesting stuff. This tiered, ruffled gown is Givenchy, and this is the most I?ve liked Givenchy in years. I would hate this on nearly anyone else, but Cate makes it look SO good.
Kristen Stewart in Chanel. Call me crazy, but how amazing is this minidress? This would have been PERFECT for the Met Gala. Kristen would have looked like a lip-biting Joan d?Arc. It looks like modern armor, and yet it also feels so chic and fresh. LOVE IT.
Bella Hadid in Elie Saab. This isn?t great, but it?s not bad either. It?s just sort of there. It?s the filler-dress you bring to Cannes when you don?t know how many premieres you are going to attend.
Naomi Campbell in Poiret. From the waist up, this is interesting. From the waist down, it?s a disaster. The draping of the green fabric is some of the worst sh-t I?ve ever seen.
Natasha Poly in Atelier Versace. She looks embarrassed. As she should be, this is a Marchesa-level ice-dancing disaster.

| Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive in Cannes: doily realness or just beautiful? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Wow, the Cannes Film Festival started and I was completely caught off-guard! Usually Cannes starts on a Wednesday, right? Right. So they started a day early, and they started just a day after the Met Gala. That?s a quick turnaround for fashionistas! Thankfully, we?re going to have lots of fun photos from Cannes this year: Cate Blanchett is the Cannes jury president. Other jurors include Ava DuVernay, Kristen Stewart and La Seydoux. It?s going to be fun, I?m telling you. Here is Cate at the Cannes opening night premiere of Everybody Knows. She was one of the best-dressed at the premiere in this beautifully constructed Armani Priv gown. Love her or hate her, Cate knows how to fashion. (Also: GAH, HER EARRINGS, I WANT THEM.)
Julianne Moore, on the other hand, sometimes doesn?t know how to ?fashion.? I love her to pieces too, so it pains me every time she wanders around wearing a sad sack dress. Thankfully, I don?t completely hate this Givenchy gown on her. Would I have chosen this for her? No. But she looks good. I was going to criticize the updo, but upon closer inspection, I love this hairstyle, especially with the earrings.
La Seydoux in Louis Vuitton. Lord knows I think Nicolas Ghesquiere has lost the thread, but my only real beef with this gown is that the skirt should have been lined. The granny panties-under-a-sheer-skirt are just so? tired.
Georgia May Jagger is a model now. She?s very pretty but it?s going to take me a while before I really embrace her as a model-actress-whatever. She wore an incredibly boring Twinset gown in boring basic black. I mean, if you look closely, the gown is well-constructed. But she doesn?t stand out at all.
Fan Bingbing in Ali Karoui Haute Couture. It?s weird and she stood out on the carpet, so props to her. Do you like the ruffled tiers? I do not.
