When did you first realize that Gwyneth Paltrow is nothing more than a snob promoting disordered eating? I realized it more than a decade ago, when she ?wrote? a cookbook all about her elimination diet and it read like someone who has a profoundly unhealthy relationship with food. That combined with the first years of her Goop newsletter, which were mostly about her various ?detox diets? and ?intermittent fasts.? She?s bragged about doctors telling her that she?s dreadfully unhealthy and she?s not getting enough nutrients, but she?s spent decades being the poster girl for seriously unhealthy fad diets dressed up as ?wellness.? Well, now a new generation of celeb-watchers is figuring out that Paltrow is an OG of disordered eating. TikTokers ripped Paltrow to shreds for being an ?almond mom,? a term I?m just hearing for the first time. According to internet slang, an almond mom is ?a parent who imparts unhealthy food beliefs or disordered eating on their child.? That?s 100% Gwyneth Paltrow. Only it?s not just Gwyneth imposing this on her kids, this is the foundation of her entire Goop empire.
Gwyneth Paltrow is nothing if not controversial. The wellness guru has been dragged by TikTok users for being an ?almond mom? ? a term used for adults who push disordered eating onto their children ? following a recent podcast interview.
Paltrow, 50, appeared on Monday?s episode of ?The Art of Being Well,? and broke down her daily wellness routine while administering an IV.
?I?m really embarrassing myself right here,? the Oscar winner said of the IV in her arm. ?I love an IV, I?m an early IV adopter,? she continued, noting Glutathione and Phosphatidylcholine were her two of favorites. ?They?re quite hard to find, and those make me feel so good.?
As for her daily wellness routine, Paltrow revealed she intermittent fasts and eats something ?that won?t spike [her] blood sugar? around 12 p.m.
?I love soup ? I have bone broth for a lot of the days,? she said. ?I try to do one hour of movement, so I?ll go for a walk or I?ll do pilates or I?ll do my Tracy Anderson [workouts].?
The Goop founder then dry brushes in the sauna for 30 minutes and has a vegetable-heavy dinner in line with the paleo diet to ?support [her] detox.?
TikTok users were quick to comment on Paltrow?s makeup-free appearance, and just how ?out of touch? her routine actually is.
?Insufferable,? a user bluntly commented. ?She looks physically sick so how much are these IVs really helping??? one person wrote, while another suggested she was ?too rich to swallow vitamins whole.?
?The mother of all almond moms,? a fourth person chimed in, while another added, ?what is she detoxing from if she doesn?t eat??

I am laughing my ass off at ?too rich to swallow vitamins whole.? That?s exactly what it is. Imagine being so rich and so out of touch that you just wander around, paying for IVs instead of eating a healthy diet! Like, Gwyneth has never argued that people should simply eat in moderation, remember to get your leafy greens and try not to eat too many potato chips. The complete goal, for Gwyneth, is to simply eat as little as possible and to constantly be in a state of vitamin deficiency so severe that she has an IV connection. I love the term ?almond mom? too I?m glad the youths are calling it out and creating a term for what this is.

Gwyneth Paltrow was one of the coolest It Girls in the 1990s. It was all about Gwyneth, Winona and Kate Moss. There were others, but those were the Big Three. They were impossibly chic not that they cared and they dated the coolest guys at the time (many of whom turned out to be giant losers). You get the point: Gwyneth was cool and popular. Paparazzi trailed her. The tabloids loved her. But it was still the ?90s she could still have a private life, she could still go to parties and hook up with randos and do rails in the club bathroom.
Gwyneth Paltrow was living the high life in the 1990s. The Goop founder reflected on the raucous decade that benefited from a society without cellphone cameras and social media, meaning she and other people could get away with illicit activities.
?It was great. I mean, talk about doing cocaine and not getting caught!? Paltrow said on ?The Late Late Show with James Corden? Monday, laughing. ?Like, you could just be at a bar and be, like, having fun, dance on a table, you could ? no camera phones, especially in New York. Interestingly enough, there were no paparazzi,? she continued. ?You could stumble out of a bar and go home with some rando and no one would know.?

Eh, she was trailed by paparazzi, but maybe she?s saying that it didn?t happen that often in New York, which is possible. I remember when she was with Brad Pitt, there were always paparazzi photos of her in LA. Maybe she always disappeared in the crowd a lot easier in NYC. But yeah? everything has changed for celebrities, but for regular old people too. I have no idea what it?s like for the peeps in their early 20s now are they going to clubs, doing blow, picking up a rando and nothing ever gets documented on their phones or their friends? phones? I mean??? (And yes, Gwyneth did coke. Of course she did!)

Here are some photos of Gwyneth Paltrow at a Tuesday event in Beverly Hills. The event? Veuve Clicquot?s Solaire Culture Exhibit. Gwyneth wore a Carolina Herrera dress with an awkward midriff cutout. Cutouts cycle in and out of style every couple of years and I hate that we?re in the middle of another ?in style? cycle. In my opinion, I think this would have been such a stronger look for Gwyneth without the cutout? The thin stripes are also giving me a headache.

Last year, Karen Elson was on the cover of InStyle, and her profile was so good. She spoke about the bitchiness within the modeling industry, and how young models need to feel empowered to talk about finances. Elson also spoke about nepotism in a very real way, saying ?I?m not trying to slight anybody here, but it helped if you came from a certain background. I have a problem with people judging a person because they were just born into a certain thing. They can?t help that. But with the fickleness of fashion, they love when you?re the daughter of someone.? That?s been stuck in my head for months, it?s so succinct: they love when you?re the daughter of someone. I bring up Elson?s words because Gwyneth Paltrow and Hailey Bieber, two nepotism aholes, decided to talk about how hard it is to get so many breaks because of nepotism.
A famous last name will only get you so far, at least according to Gwyneth Paltrow. While paying a visit to Hailey Bieber for an episode of her YouTube series Whos in my Bathroom?, the Oscar winning actress opened up about the concept of nepotism in Hollywood, saying celebrity kids arent as advantaged in the industry as some may think.
As the child of someone, you get access other people dont have, so the playing field is not level in that way, Gwyneth told Hailey on the July 27 episode. However, I really do feel that once your foot is in the door, which you unfairly got in, then you almost have to work twice as hard and be twice as good.
Why, you may ask? As she shared, Because people are ready to pull you down and say You dont belong there or You are only there because of your dad or your mom.
Dishing out advice to the nepo babies out there, Gwyneth said the label shouldnt limit their dreams, adding that nobody in the world, especially anyone who doesnt know you, shouldnt have a negative impact on your path or the decision that you make.
The inspiring message seemed to resonate with Hailey, 25, with the host responding, I need to hear this today.

Do you ?miss? Gwyneth Paltrow as an actress? I don?t. I?ll even say something nice about Gwyneth she made some good movies and gave some good performances and, dare I say, some underrated performances. But I still don?t really miss her as an actress, and I don?t think it?s weird or awful that she?s stepped away from acting for the most part. Even when she was married to Chris Martin, it felt like she was phasing out her acting career, mostly because she wanted to raise her children. That?s what Goop sprang out of too she wasn?t getting scripts, the scripts she did get were bad, and she wanted a little project she could do from home. When Goop kept getting bigger and bigger, Gwyneth walked away from most acting jobs, save the Marvel stuff and The Politician (which her husband produced). The Today Show?s Willie Geist interviewed Gwyneth and he asked her about her acting career.
Gwyneth Paltrow is not longing to jump back into her acting career. I??n an exclusive clip from Paltrows interview on Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, the Goop CEO, 49, opens up about putting acting on the back burner in favor of becoming an entrepreneur.
I really dont miss it all. I think Im so lucky that I got to do it, and Im sure I still will at some point, she says of her acting career. The team is always trying to get me to do a movie, but I really love what I do and I love how immediate it is and how ? were able to create product out of thin air that we believe in so much.
The Oscar winner says the experience of developing products for her lifestyle brand Goop is so powerful. Paltrow adds that she doesnt daydream about the movie business at all.
However, The Politician alum does plan to return to her acting roots to fulfill a promise to her mother Blythe Danner.
I did promise my mother at some point before I die, I told her I would go and do a play so ? Im gonna deliver on that promise at some point, she says.

In another clip, Geist asks Gwyneth what it would take to get her back in front of a camera and she said ?if my husband was doing something and wanted me to do it, I would do it.? Which makes sense. I don?t know? I get why people are ass-kissy about it to Gwyneth?s face and I?m sure she loves that people are like ?oh, we wish you were still acting in movies,? but isn?t the point of all of this that Gwyneth is better than everyone? That she figured it out and had the best of all worlds? She?s an Oscar-winning actress with a good IMDB page, she got to raise her children and she started a successful lifestyle business.

It?s a wonder more big-name fashion houses don?t do runway shows in LA. Whenever a designer/label decides to show in LA like, Tom Ford, or in this case Gucci?s Alessandro Michele there is sooo much interest, and they always get a huge celebrity turnout. Most LA-dwelling celebrities don?t want to make the journey to Paris or Milan for the shows. But they?ll come out for a fashion event if the runway is Hollywood Boulevard. That?s what Gucci did they rented out Hollywood Blvd last night for a star-studded open-air runway show. Serena Williams, Lizzo, James Corden, Anjelica Huston, Vanessa Bryant, Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus and Diane Keaton were just some of the celebrities in attendance, and I?m not even going to post their photos!
I just wanted to talk about a handful of celebrities in attendance. Like Gwyneth Paltrow, who has worn Gucci for much of her adult life. I thought Gwyneth was incredibly boring for recycling her Tom Ford-for-Gucci ?90s red suit for this show. But no, she didn?t pull this one of her archives. This was Michele ?reimagining? Gwyneths famous red suit. He reimagined it so hard it looks exactly the same. Here?s the suit in 1996. There?s no difference.

On one side, I enjoy the fact that Gwyneth Paltrow is in a marriage where she gets what she needs: open adoration and demonstrative love. She didn?t have that for a long time and it drove her crazy. Brad Falchuk worships Gwyneth and she loves every minute of it. On the other side, Brad and Gwyneth are incredibly annoying. Not just the over-the-top Instagram praise (which is so sugary), but the whitewashing of their entire relationship, from homewrecking both of their marriages to the real reason why they didn?t live together for a year after their wedding. With all of that in mind, please enjoy Gwyneth gooping all over Falchuk and how great their marriage is.
The honeymoon phase: I have a little bit of a blessing that were still in the honeymoon phase, the Goop founder, 49, tells PEOPLE in this weeks issue. I am really lucky I married Brad. There is just something about us together. Weve been able to build on all the stuff weve gone through in life and create something really amazing. And Im grateful for our chemistry. That can get you through some tough spots!
Being open with your partner: Its so important to be honest. If youre trying to please somebody or be somebody youre not, youre lying to yourself. There are definitely times in my life when I look back and think, I was not aligned with myself. And therefore I was in a relationship that was not positive for me.
Therapy helps: In part thanks to a lot of therapy, Paltrow, who shares Apple, 17 and Moses, 15 with her ex Chris Martin whom she divorced in 2016, says she was able to recognize unhealthy patterns in her past. We dont like to fail, and we dont like to be vulnerable and we white knuckle through it. We push our inner voice down. But when you start to admit the hard stuff to yourself, theres no way back.
What she does better now: With Falchuk, the key has been being as accountable as possible for the negative ways I was in earlier relationships, says Paltrow. I have worked hard to break old patterns and work on long held intimacy issues in order to make the most out of my marriage. Divorce is never something you hope for or plan, a second marriage can be a beautiful gift.
She doesn?t like to fight: Im not a good fighter. Brad is much better at it than I am. Ill retreat to a defensive place and shut down. Hes amazing because he wont let me out of it. Its about accountability and showing up ? and thats really hard for me to do sometimes.

I honestly don?t have a problem with anything she?s saying here. It sounds like she has done the work and really tried to break her own dysfunctional relationship patterns, although one could argue that the whole reason there is a second marriage is because they were both screwing around on their first spouses. That?s an enormous red flag for both of them. But whatever they?re older and wiser now and while many people have self-destructive patterns, I don?t think that will play out in this particular case.

Did Gwyneth Paltrow ever publicly address the Business Insider?s exclusive piece on how Goop is a massively dysfunctional company? Goop has lost 140 staffers since the start of 2019, which is an insane turnover. Goop?s current and former staffers cited burnout, low pay and a toxic work environment. And Gwyneth hasn?t said anything for weeks about it. I think that?s probably her version of crisis management stay silent for a few weeks and then just continue doing what you were already doing, which is shill Goop products. Speaking of, Gwyneth is currently promoting her new Netflix docu-series, Sex, Love & Goop. Real-life couples are basically documented as they go into sex therapy and take classes on how to be better at intimacy and sex. Gwyneth interviews the couples and judges them. To promote the series, Gwyneth talked about her own sex education and how she?s raising her kids:
On the series & her role: The conversations with me are conducted with this amazing therapist named Michaela Baum, and shes someone that Ive worked with and that I have a lot of respect for. I also thought it was really important for me to show up with honesty and vulnerability around these topics. I think thats the point of the show, to show different examples of what honesty and vulnerability can look like. I was happy to do that and share.
Being a Gen Xer with teen children: I try always to be neutral on the topic [of sex]. I think my generation, we got a lot of messages around sex that made us feel bad about it. I try to just be curious, and teenagers are never going to want to talk to their parents about sex, ever. I sort of follow their lead and luckily, in middle school they had a very thorough sex education, so the school handled the kind of birds and the bees parts. Then I am there for any questions, but the questions are pretty minimal.
What advice she will give Moses & Apple: One piece of advice she will pass down to them is to stay really close to your own truth. I think the main thing that nobody ever tells you, is you have to stay really close to your own truth and you have to stay really in integrity with that truth. Because when you are in a relationship and you are not being your full self, you are sublimating things or you are white knuckling through something, and I think it can be pretty damaging to how you feel about yourself. I will always just encourage my children to really listen to themselves, listen to their instincts, listen if something feels right, and to act from that place.

I always felt like Gen Xers and Xennials actually had an okay sex education? I mean, generationally speaking, we got information from school, our parents, our friends, literature, magazines, everywhere. I don?t even think that those generations were even shamed about it to the extent our parents? generation was. If anything, the people born from 1965-1980 have the strongest memories of the AIDS crisis and safe-sex campaigns and condoms being everywhere. If anything, Paltrow?s generation was warped by information-overload and *everything* being sexualized.
Also: does anyone else think it?s weird that Gwyneth is all about sexual empowerment and then she?s also like ?thank god the schools took care of my kids? sex education??

I won?t lie: I was actually a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow?s acting work at one point, many years ago. She was in some good movies, and she was good in some movies! While it?s not my canonical favorite, I love her version of Emma, which (even by today?s standards) was exceptionally well-cast. I love Sliding Doors. Great Expectations doesn?t really hold up (I rewatched it recently and it was super-annoying). My favorite Paltrow film? Probably The Royal Tenenbaums. It sounds like it?s sort of Gwyneth?s favorite too, although she will only admit that under very narrow and snotty circumstances! As it turns out, Gwyneth has never encouraged her children to watch her movies. So? they haven?t. Not even The Royal Tenenbaums.
Gwyneth Paltrow may be one of Hollywoods most recognizable A-listers, but dont expect her teenage children ? daughter Apple, 17, and son Moses, 15 ? to know any of her movies. During an appearance on the premiere episode of Shop TODAY with Jill Martin? Thursday on the TODAY All Day streaming channel, the Oscar winner and Goop founder, 48, revealed that her kids (whom she shares with ex Chris Martin) havent exactly gone out of their way to see her films.
My kids have never seen me in a movie, Paltrow revealed, adding, I mean, I think my son has seen the Iron Man things, but I dont think my daughter has ever seen me in a movie.
The Politician star added that Apple thinks its weird if Im onscreen.
She says she likes me here, said Paltrow, laughing, as she placed both hands over her heart.
When asked what movies of hers would be her all-time favorite, the Academy award winner candidly shared, I also really hate, hate, hate seeing myself in a movie ever.
However, the actress did explain her answer would have to be her 2001 film, The Royal Tenenbaums, due to the connection it has to her father, Bruce Paltrow (who passed away in 2002). The late director visited the actress on set and made the memories of the movie enjoyable.
I have a memory of my dad visiting, Paltrow said during the reunion, according to USA Today. He came the day that we did a scene where Im getting off the bus and Richies picking me up, and my dad was there. It was a very special day. She added, Its kind of like the only scene that I can watch of myself of my whole career.

That scene is iconic, to be fair. With Margot coming off the bus and Ritchie seeing her for the first time in years. It feels like the kind of movie a teenage girl like Apple would enjoy, even if it does star her mom? I?m looking through Gwyneth?s filmography and truly, there?s not a ton of stuff in there for kids beyond the Marvel movies. It does seem weird that Apple has never, ever sought one out though? I have no idea, maybe Moses and Apple are just completely embarrassed by their mom, no matter what she does.
