Here are some new photos of Matt Damon out and about with his daughter Stella in LA. I?ve noticed something very strange lately ? the paparazzi are getting more and more candid photos of Matty D since he moved back to LA, buying a house just down the street from Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. CB and I were just theorizing if the same group of paparazzi who grab daily photos of Garner and her kids are the same paps getting photos of Matt and his girls. Probably, right?
What?s interesting about this situation is that Matty D has spent the past few years bragging (rather smugly!) about how lucky he was to ?fall in love with a civilian? and how the paps don?t care about him as much as they care about Garner-Affleck and Brangelina. In Matty?s Esquire interview, he discussed the paparazzi at length, claiming that he?s always been able to walk his kids to school with no pap drama. Matty bragged: ?But I don?t really give them anything? there?s not really any story to tell. They can try to stake me out, but they?re always going to get the same story?middle-aged married guy with four kids. So as long as that narrative doesn?t change too much, there?s no appetite for it.? Well, the paparazzi are getting interested in that. Because it?s always good business for the paps to get photos of a movie star with his kids. The industry has changed.
Also, in a weird turn of events, Matty D?s new movie (and potential Oscar-contender) has been pushed back. I?m telling you, this is a really weird, jam-packed awards season. According to Deadline, George Clooney?s The Monuments Men has been ?pushed to an unspecified date in early 2014. We?ve learned that the pic was delayed because visual effects could not be completed in time for the Sony film?s scheduled December 18 release date.? Yeah right. It?s much more likely that Clooney realized how crowded the awards season field is this year and decided to wait to release The Monuments Men until next year so it would be more an awards contender.

These are some fashion photos from the Environmental Media Awards, held Saturday in LA. Matt Damon and Hayden Panettiere were honored for their activism. Variety has the details, and Matt received the Ongoing Commitment Award for founding Water.org, which strives to bring access to clean water and sanitation to remote areas of the globe. Hayden received the Futures Award, for her activism on behalf of animal rights, particularly anti-whaling. Matt’s acceptance speech focused on how meaningful the cause is for him, while Hayden made a bunch of dumb jokes about the culture of celebrity. She’s awesome for doing this, I’m just saying her jokes sound silly:
Matt Damon, Hayden Panettiere, Bill McKibben and Anna Getty may have been honored at last night?s Environmental Media Awards, but fracking was the real winner. Several anti-fracking films and TV shows, including Damon?s ?Promised Land? and ?Last Man Standing,? took home prizes at the 23rd annual ceremony held outdoors at Burbank?s Warner Bros. Studios lot.
?Insufferable do-gooder? Damon ? as he was described by frenemy Jimmy Kimmel in an opening video ? received the Ongoing Commitment Award for his efforts to provide underdeveloped countries access to clean water and sanitation. The co-founder of Water.org recalled his first water collection mission in Zambia in 2006, where he met a 14-year-old girl who aspired to move to the ?big city? of Lusaka to become a nurse.
?She just reminded me so much of me and Ben (Affleck) when we were young and we were teenagers, 14 years old, and we were gonna be actors, and we were gonna go to the big city of New York,? Damon said. ?I just really connected with her and it was then that I really realized it?s not just about saving somebody?s life so they can survive to the next day, it?s really about dignity and hope.?
After watching a clip of himself in Haiti at the inauguration of a new pump in a small village, Damon said he was reminded of another young teen who made him realize that access to clean water isn?t just a life or death issue. The actor asked a 13-year-old girl, who was in charge of water collection for her family, how she was going to spend the three hours she would now save daily.
?I asked, ?What are you going to do with all this extra time??? he said. ?And she looks me right in the eyes and she goes, ?I?m going to play.??
Other acceptance speeches were much more lighthearted. Panettiere, the recipient of the Futures Award, said instead of waiting for the media to rally people to this cause, they need to take initiative to save the environment. After all, the tabloids are more concerned with her personal life and Miley Cyrus? dancing habits than saving the planet, she said.
?I mean, the fact that I?m 5?2? and my boyfriend?s 6?6? is not going to help the environment,? she said. ?It?s not. And twerking is not going to save the environment. I think it speeds it up.?
The ?Nashville? star is the spokesperson for the marine conservation nonprofit the Whaleman Foundation.

The article goes on to say that environmentalist Bill McKibben was handed the Lifetime Achievement Award while television shows “House of Cards” and “Last Man Standing” were also honored. You can see the full list of winners on Variety.com.
As for the fashion, Hayden looked somewhat inappropriate in a Georges Hobeika see-through lace dress with an orange skirt. You could see her damn bra through the top. Shouldn’t she be wearing a black bra?
Malin Ackerman was in Christian Siriano. I do like this contemporary dress, but like Hayden’s outfit I wonder if it fits the occasion.

I don?t know what has gotten into CB lately. Usually she guards Matt Damon stories as if her life depended on it. She?s a big Damon-loonie, so much so that I rarely write about him at all. But things are starting to change around here? she?s actually sending me Matty D leads now. I wonder what?s going on? What if CB wants to (GASP) cover Michael Fassbender?! I would die. Literally, as Joe Biden would say.
Anyway, CB sent me this lead and I guess she wanted me to cover it because it?s Matty D being political. Matty talked about politics a bit in his Guardian interview too, except no one paid attention to those quotes because of the public/private school debate. So, to promote Elysium, Matty D did an interview with BET and he got some questions about Pres. Obama?s second term and about Trayvon Martin. I transcribed his answers, but just note that I edited out a lot of his ?you knows? and ?likes?. I want to make excuses for him, like he hadn?t prepared answers to political questions so that?s why his answers seemed a bit scattered, but really, I expect Matty D to be able to speak off-the-cuff about politics in a much more qualitative way than this:
How do you feel Pres. Obama is doing in his second term?
Matty D: ?He broke up with me. There are a lot of things that I really question, you know? The legality of the drone strikes, these NSA revelations are, you know, like? Jimmy Carter came out and said ?we don?t live in a democracy?. That?s a little intense when an ex-president says that. So, he?s got a lot of explaining to do, especially for a constitutional law professor.?
Thoughts on the Trayvon Martin case:
?The Stand Your Ground law, I would hope that they will revisit that. I lived in Florida for five years, we can?t have a world in which people are putting guns in their pockets and looking around for? thinking that they?re the neighborhood watch. We have a police force for that. We should leave the novices at home.?

He side-stepped saying the word ?race? which I guess is the way to go when you don?t want your 5 minute BET interview to become the most re-blogged video on the conservative sites. Honestly, I don?t have a problem with his Trayvon answer ? he didn?t get into the nitty-gritty of the situation, he was soundbyte-y and that?s fine. He?s promoting a movie, not leading a national discussion on race. But I was bothered a bit by his answer about Obama?s second term. I?m a political liberal too, but don?t come at me with ?drone strikes? and ?NSA wiretaps? as the reasons to not support Obama.

Here are some photos from last night?s LA premiere of Elysium. The premiere was a huge event ? much bigger than the sad little Jobs premiere which also took place last night. Unfortunately, there weren?t many big-name Fashion Girls in attendance. Still, we get to look at nice photos of Matt Damon, and how bad can that be? I don?t know what designer Lucy is wearing. All I know is that it feels like I?ve seen her in this dress before. She wears a lot of blue on the red carpet. But I?m glad to see that Matt hasn?t knocked her up again ? for a while there, she was in a constant state of pregnancy, it seemed. Also: Matt got pranked by Jimmy Kimmel during the Elysium junket:
Jodie Foster wore Roland Mouret. It?s kind of boring, simple dress, but I love this color on Jodie. She usually wears Armani too, so I guess it?s notable that she?s in Mouret.
Sharlto Copley is so hot! I love him.

Here are some new photos of Matt Damon last night in NYC for a screening of his new movie, Elysium. That?s the one where he plays some kind of peasant half-robot who breaks into a giant wheel where all of the rich people live. It?s a dystopian sci-fi film, obviously. And for the film, Matt got super-buff. Like, buffer than buff. He kept it tight when he was playing Jason Bourne, but I think Matt wanted Bourne to still be ?lean? and have the grace of a cat. But this part in Elysium? his muscles are incredible. The trailer:
See? He?s really big. And Elysium actually looks like a pretty good movie. But mostly I just want to see it for Matt. Matt talked to People Mag about bulking up for the role, and he was charmingly humble about it, of course:
Shaving his head was easy. But getting into super human shape for his role in Elysium was another story for Matt Damon.
“It was really hard because I love to eat and drink!” Damon, 42, told PEOPLE on Tuesday at a special New York screening of the sci fi film hosted by 2(X)IST Watches. “It’s very hard to motivate me to get in shape.”
But when the film’s director Neill Blomkamp showed him pictures of Elyisum’s leading character, Max, a tattoo-covered tough guy who wears an exoskeleton strength suit, “I went okay, this is definitely worth it,” Damon says.
The recent Emmy nominee went on a strict diet and spent four hours a day at the gym for months, pumping iron and doing cardio. As a result, PEOPLE’s 2007 Sexiest Man Alive bulked up with a chiseled set of rock-hard abs and bulging biceps.
So what did Damon’s wife Luciana think of his ripped physique?
“I think she likes the variety,” he says with a laugh. “When I did The Informant, I put on 40 lbs. and I was like, ‘You kind of like this guy too?’ I’m trying to talk her into [liking] that guy because that’s the guy I’m most comfortable being.”
Fortunately for the Oscar winner, who renewed his wedding vows to Luciana in St. Lucia last April, she made a promise to spend the rest of her life with him no matter what.
“I’m at the point in my life where somebody was silly enough to marry me,” Damon says, “and won’t leave me if I put on a few pounds!”

FOUR HOURS A DAY? Damn. I?m surprised Luciana didn?t get pregnant again after all of that. Yeah, I?m sure she ?likes the variety.? I?m sure she liked the variety ALL NIGHT LONG. But truly, Chunky Damon is pretty hot too. I don?t mind him at all with a little extra weight ? I find that he?s more attractive (to me) when his face is more filled out. He was just unattractive in The Informant because of that horrible mustache, not because of the weight.
PS? I miss Matt?s black frames. These blue-grey frames don?t suit him as much as his old pair.

Remember how Benedict Cumberbatch gave that extremely fan-girly interview to Vulture right after he was nominated for an Emmy (his second nomination)? Cumberbatch discussed a lot in a short amount of time, but what was striking was how much he just completely gushed, gushed, gushed about his love for Matt Damon. Vulture: How is Matt Damon your hero?
Cumberbatch: Well, he’s just so grounded. He’s so intelligent. He makes these smart choices, as an actor, as a producer, as a writer. He’s so composed. You never hear a bad word said about him. Everybody loves him. And he just sounds like he’s got his priorities right as a human being, and as an actor, he’s phenomenal. What a screen presence. I saw Promised Land on the way to New Zealand where I was doing some more work on Smaug, the dragon in The Hobbit, and it was again, another superlative performance, the writing with John Krasinski, and just a great, great drama, setting up those arguments about the future of small-town America, and really, all small communities across the world, the crisis they face about money and income versus environmental concerns and community. It was a peaceful way of tackling it. The minute Matt and Ben [Affleck] appeared on the scene with Good Will Hunting, you knew it was a special moment. To see such young talent take the reins and create the means of work as well as star in it, and just do every one of their jobs at every level superlatively, it was very exciting. I think he’s great. My biggest wish is to hang out with him!
Perhaps you’ll get to do so at the Emmys. You need a guys’ night out.
Yeah! I just want to get in a room with these guys and have conversations with them. I don’t know what I’d say to them. I’d be a bit star struck [around Pacino and Douglas], but at least with Matt, I can kind of quiz him. And then cut to a hot night where we’re all getting drunk and dancing and having a good time! Maybe it’ll have to be on another occasion, but wouldn’t that be cool, though? I would like to go out with that group full stop, wouldn’t you? That would be a fun dinner party. I think that would be great fun.
Yeah, you could pick each other’s brains, develop projects together, or not talk about work at all.
You’re saying that like you can facilitate it. Do you have Matt’s number? Can you pass along a message, and tell him that Benedict is a big fan and would like to hang? That would be brilliant.

See? Full-on fan-girl. Bless him. So, Matt Damon is beginning his promotional duties for Elysium and he was approached with Cumberbatch questions during his junket. NextMovie was the first outlet to tell Damon about Cumberbatch?s gushy Vulture interview, and Matt?s reaction is? measured. It?s like Matt isn?t sure if this woman is pulling his leg. When presented with Cumberbatch?s quotes, Matt says, ?Definitely, definitely, we?ll have to go get a beer. That?s funny. He?s really good.? NextMovie also notes: ?For what it’s worth, Damon’s publicist stopped us on the way out to say she’d dropped a line to Cumberbatch’s agent to make it happen.? YES!!

To start I’d just like to send congratulations to my parents, since today is their 45th wedding anniversary. This story seemed the best place to do it given the theme. My parents haven’t renewed their vows at any point, and that’s not really their style, but they should do it in five years maybe. It’s a nice way to celebrate decades of marriage. (Sidenote: I once went to a vow renewal party for a sweet older couple, I believe it was their 40th anniversary, and the husband died a few years later of non-hodgkin’s lymphoma. I know that’s a horrible story, but it kind of brings it home to me why people have vow renewal ceremonies, to celebrate their love and life together. Gah I’m getting teary now.)
Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, haven’t been married a decade yet but they’ve surely gone through a lot since marrying in city hall in NYC in 2005. (I’m just making assumptions since they have four kids.) The two had a vow renewal ceremony, attended by their daughters and about 50 guests, at a five star resort in St. Lucia over the weekend. As we heard about a month ago, Damon rented out the entire Sugar Beach resort for a week at an estimated cost of over a million. He can certainly afford it, and the details make it sound romantic and relaxing:

The Hollywood couple said “I do” all over again Saturday, April 13 in a romantic vow renewal ceremony on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, Us Weekly can confirm. The Promised Land star, 42, rented out St. Lucia’s entire Sugar Beach Resort — at a hefty six-figure price — for the weekend in honor of the happy occasion, with around 50 guests, including Damon’s BFF Ben Affleck and wife Jennifer Garner.
An eyewitness tells Us that Damon and the bride exchanged vows under thatched roofs right at sunset — with the groom wearing a tan-colored suit and flip-flops, and the bride, 36, donning a cream-colored gown featuring a sequined belt at the waist. The couple’s daughters — Isabella, 6, Gia, 4, Stella, 2, and Alexia, Luciana’s daughter from a previous marriage — wore light-colored dresses to match their mom. After the 15-minute ceremony, guests (all of them wearing shades of cream and ivory) were escorted onto the beach for a cocktail reception (completely with Tiki torches).
“This isn’t a ‘Hollywood’ wedding,” one insider tells Us. “Matt wanted it to be fun, happy and private. He felt like Luciana deserves this, first and foremost.”
Explains another source of the locale: “This is the perfect place for this wedding. You can [go] here for serenity.”
The actor, director and Oscar-winning screenwriter first wed the Argentina-born former bartender in a private civil ceremony in December 2005.
“They’ve wanted to do it for a long time,” another pal says of the vow renewal. “They had a tiny ceremony the first time, and wanted to celebrate with family and friends.”

E! has the news that Jimmy Kimmel officiated the wedding! That must have been awesome and so much fun. They also have a more complete list of the famous guests who came, including Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Chelsea Clinton, Robert DeNiro & Grace Hightower, Emily Blunt & John Krasinski, Don Cheadle & Brigid Coulter, Chris Hemsworth & Elsa Pataky, and of course Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. What I wouldn’t have given to have been a guest at that party. As a consolation prize, I would love to see some photos, but I doubt there will be any. Damon doesn’t seem like the type to release a photo of his wedding and you know he didn’t invite the paps.
E! also lets us know that Luciana’s dress was custom Naeem Khan, who is a personal friend of the Damons. I’m just wondering if Luciana wore her “I’m f*king Matt Damon” t-shirt at any point during the week. She’s said that she has one, and that she wears it with pride. Congratulations to Matt and Luciana!

About three weeks ago, The NY Post published an exclusive that Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana, had sent out “save the date” cards to friends for a party in April. They were planning some kind of destination vow renewal ceremony at an undisclosed location, about seven years after their quickie courthouse wedding and three kids. (Plus one from Lucy’s first marriage.) Life & Style now has more details about the planned bash, and it’s going to be huge. Apparently Damon rented out an entire five star resort in St. Lucia for a whole week in April and is flying his buddies in to party with him. The estimated cost is one mealeon dollahs.

Because I blog and it’s pretty hard for me to take a vacation, I don’t get how all these A-listers can take off an entire week with just a few weeks notice. (Although I shouldn’t talk because I’m taking a week’s vacation soon thanks to Kaiser and Bedhead, they’re amazing! I’ll still be working in the mornings, I hate not keeping up.) So maybe it’s possible for these people to take a week’s vacation, we’re always seeing them on vacation anyway. The resort of course has wifi.
I just checked out the website for the resort and I got relaxed just looking at the photos. It’s beautiful, with all-white luxury rooms, each with its own freaking pool! I have only stayed in a five star resort once, in a Ritz Carlton, and it was incredible, especially the service. I’ve never been anywhere with my own private pool!
The thing is, now that the news is out you know the paparazzi are going to be staying nearby and working hard to get some exclusive photos. It’s going to be all A-list celebrities. Surely Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner will come, and although I believe that Jennifer and Lucy don’t get along I doubt there’s some big rivalry between them as some tabloids would have us believe. Do you think Ben and Jennifer will bring their kids? They could easily bring them with a nanny and I bet that Matt planned for some of his friends with families to do that. The resort is family-friendly with “supervised activities” for children, which sounds really nice. That makes me wonder if Brad and Angelina will be there! Brad and Matt know each other from the Oceans movies and since Matt rented out that whole resort I’m sure he invited them. Now I’m all excited to hear about this big week-long party. I’m already imagining being there.

Checking out what his celebrity friends may soon be wearing next season, Matt Damon attended New York Fashion Week 2013 at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts with his wife, Luciana Barroso on Tuesday (February 12).
Clad in all black, the "Bourne Identity" star wore a polo, jacket, and trousers while his lovely wife sported a long-sleeved top and leather pants.
In a hilarious way to spread his message about the availability of clean water, the 42-year-old actor announced in the PSA spoof that he is boycotting going to the bathroom.
In the video, Mr. Damon says, "Anybody have any idea what invention has saved more lives than any other in the history of humankind? The toilet. What's even more shocking is the catastrophic worldwide lack of clean water and sanitation. 780 million people -- that's twice the population of the United States -- lack access to clean water. 2.5 billion people lack access to a toilet or basic sanitation. I mean, more people have cellphones than have toilets."
