“Always and forever” came to mind immediately when I saw this cover of Town & Country featuring the formidable Hugh Jackman. It also is the perfect way to describe Hugh’s relationship with his wife of 17 years, that lucky bitch Deborra-Lee Furness. I honestly don’t dislike Deborra-Lee despite how jealous I am of her. There’s something so sweet about her relationship with Hugh, and I can’t hear enough about the two of them. I love it when they talk about each other and when Deb humble brags about Hugh. They adore each other, and it comes across as genuine to me and not like they’re trying to prove anything. So that’s why I particularly enjoyed this interview. Here’s some of what they told Town & Country, with more at the source. The article is primarily a profile of Hugh and Deborra, and they only give a few good quotes:
On trying to wait 6 months to propose to Deborra but only lasting four
“I decided, I won’t ask her to marry me for six months. Then after four months I thought, That’s the most ridiculous rule!”
Deborra on her charity work
“I’m working with Americans to create an international campaign to shine a light on the fact that there are 153 million orphans in the world. If that were a country, it would be the ninth-largest in the world, just ahead of Russia.”
Deborra on if she likes Hugh with a beard
“I do. But I like him clean-shaven. But I like him all ways: chubby, muscley, skinny. I?m always having affairs. Don?t make that headline.”
[From Town & Country]
I like Hugh with a beard, but one that’s much more close cut than this. He definitely needs to shave his neck. That said, these are some sexy photos, right? I want to smack that hand, unless it’s Deborra’s hand, in which case I’ll grudgingly tolerate it. Damn that hand model.
Oh and Town & Country points out that Jackman earned $55 million last year, making him the third highest paid actor behind Robert Downey Jr. and Channing Tatum. He certainly earned it. The Wolverine cleaned up at the box office.

Hugh Jackman fans should ready themselves for an onslaught of Aussie goodness in the coming weeks as he prepares for the release of The Wolverine. As such, Hugh covers the August issue of Hugh Jackman, and I do adore Hugh, but this is one of the cheesiest covers he’s ever done, right? I mean, it’s par for the course with Good Housekeeping, but it’s still hilarious. The magazine hasn’t released any good excerpts yet, but they have revealed a few tidbits, including that Hugh’s “recipe for romance” is “surprise.” Hugh told the publication, “If I bring Deb flowers every Tuesday, yeah, it?s nice, but is it romantic? Especially when a couple has children, so much of life is about your routine.” Then he revealed how he once surprised Deborrah by pretending he wouldn’t be home until very late and then arriving home early from a film set to sweep her off to a lunch at their favorite restaurant. That’s sweet, and I’m sure it was a much appreciated gesture and just the right amount of spontaneity without throwing an entire day’s schedule out of whack.
Hugh’s also entered the press conference realm (he is shown below at NYC’s Mandarin Oriental hotel), and he sat down for an interview with the Mail while recently in Montreal. Hugh has previously spoken about how his mother abandoned him with he was 8 years old, and touches more upon the topic (as well as many others) here:
On the appeal of Wolverine: “Kids can relate to it. Every teenager feels murderous and marginalised — just like the mutants in X-Men. I was bullied by my big brother. Playing Wolverine makes me think how I used to fight with my brother. He used to call me poofter and sissy for being interested in dancing. And by the time he said there was nothing wrong with that, I was too old. I was 18 then.?
He was abandoned by his mother at age 8: “She saw me off to school wearing a towel round her head and when I came back she was gone. Two days later there was a telegram saying she was in England. It took me years to realise it wasn’t temporary. I?ve been reunited with Mum since. We see each other four or five times a year.”
Is he lowering himself with a comic-book character? “I find it interesting. If I didn?t I?d get out. I was given three pages of script. [My wife] read them and said, ‘There are words like *kerpow* here.’ She thought it was beneath me. I was working with Trevor Nunn at the National Theatre (playing Curly in the 1998 production of Oklahoma). It?s the only time my wife has ever been wrong — and you can quote me on that.”
He gained 25 pounds in 12 weeks for the role: “The problem is my height. I’m 6ft 2in and lean but in the books he?s 5ft 3in and stocky. Part of the bulking-up was to make me look squatter — more Mike Tyson than Hugh Jackman. He was a touchstone because he?s ruthless and has that Wolverine build.”
Never meet your idols: “I said, ‘Good day Mr Eastwood, Hugh Jackman.’ He said, ‘Yeah, I know.’ So I said, ‘I’ve been told I occasionally look like you in films.’ And Mr Eastwood replied, ‘You’re holding up the line, kid.’ Well, I still watch his movies for inspiration …”
The trials of wearing claws: “In my living room, I?d walk around wearing the claws, to get used to them. I?ve got scars on one leg, punctures through the cheek, on my forehead.” But he stuck at it. “No one apart from Sean Connery has been in so many films in the same franchise.”
On his Wolverine fitness plan: “I used to go to the gym and see these guys pumping iron and I thought they were idiots. In what situation could you need to bench 350lb? I never understood the addiction, it?s just painful. But that?s what I do to become Wolverine.” Worse is the diet. “It’s not good for me to eat 6,000 calories a day. I have to eat a dozen eggs every day. I worry I’ll have a heart attack.”
It’s not all bad: “I shouldn?t gripe so much about what I have to do to become Wolverine. One thing that is good about having the body I have is it makes you more physically imposing. People back away when you?re in a crowd and give you more space.”
What went wrong with Australia? “Dunno. Was it a failure? I?m really proud of it, an epic about my homeland. Fantastic! I loved working with Baz. I guess somehow it didn?t catch fire at the box office.”
[From Daily Mail]
Aww, I feel kind of bad about Hugh’s feelings on Australia. It’s not his fault that the movie was an overwrought mess with hardly any commercial appeal whatsoever. It must be pretty crushing (to both him and Nicole Kidman) to try and honor one’s homeland in an epic film only to have it come crashing down. I remember reading that Baz hadn’t even finished editing the film until a few days before it was set to hit theaters. Yikes.
You know what’s even crazier about the fact that Hugh had to regain all that weight to play Wolverine in this latest movie? Well, he also had a false alarm a few years ago when the movie was set to begin production in spring 2011, but Darren Aronofsky dropped out of the movie at the last moment. So the entire production was postponed for several months, and then Hugh had to go and regain all of that muscle yet another time. He also had to lose and regain more weight for Les Miserables too. Ouch.
Now for absolutely no reason at all, here are some photos of Hugh riding a scooter around NYC’s West Village on 5/13. He’s adorable.

Making the most of his time in New York City, Hugh Jackman stepped out to promote his new movie ?The Wolverine? this morning (July 12).
The ?Les Miserables? star looked a bit preoccupied with his mobile phone as he carried a bottled beverage through a crowd of fans and shutterbugs en route to an appearance.
In a recent interview, Hugh explained the secret behind his seventeen-year marriage to Deborra-Lee Furness- ?From day one, we were best mates. We just clicked. We were giggling and laughing - we just connected.?
?Deb is the last one to bed and the first one up in the morning. You know those dolls that, when you lie them down, their eyes close? And as soon as they?re vertical, their eyes open? That?s Deb. It?s almost annoying. She has two speeds: Stop and Go. She is always, ?Let?s do this, let?s do that.? And she is very funny, very quick.?
?My number one rule for romance is surprise. If I bring Deb flowers every Tuesday, yeah, it?s nice, but is it romantic? Especially when a couple has children, so much of life is about your routine.?

| Hugh Jackman's wife talks about 'offensive' gay rumors that plague her marriage | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Hugh Jackman has been married to his wife Deborrah for seventeen years now, yet some people still insist that he’s gay. Some people point towards their two adopted children as some form of evidence, yet they fail to recognize that Deborra suffered miscarriages before she and Hugh decided to open their home to kids who needed a family. The rumors of Hugh’s sexuality seem particularly cruel because I don’t think it’s an issue of people basing their judgment upon Hugh’s inherent ability to sing and dance like a boss. Instead, I think people are saying this because Deborra isn’t the typical stick-thin, over-Botoxed trophy wife that we’re used to seeing with movie stars. This is about people saying that she’s “not good enough” to be married to a hetero A-lister, so of course, she must be bearding. And that’s an awful thing for people to think.
For his part, Hugh doesn’t seem to be upset by people questioning his sexuality, but it matters a lot to him that the rumors upset his wife. In a 2008 interview, Deborra claimed that she often told people that Hugh wasn’t gay. In 2011, she seemed to indicate that the rumors affect her body image by adding, “heaven forbid I have a human experience and carry a little weight.” Last year, Hugh covered the matter while conducing his Les Miserables Oscar campaign by telling the Hollywood Reporter that the rumors bother Deb. Still, the buzzings persist, and now Hugh and Deb are talking to the press together:
Hugh Jackman and wife Deborra-Lee Furness have hit out at the “stupid” and “offensive” rumours that the Wolverine star is gay.
In an interview with the Nine Network’s 60 Minutes, Jackman said he finds the persistent gossip “frustrating,” especially for his wife of 17 years.
“If I was [gay], I would be,” Jackman told the program in a candid 16-minute interview last night. “It’s to me not the most interesting thing about a person anyway, but I do get frustrated for Deb, because I see Deb go ‘Ah, this is crazy’.”
Jackman’s hit stage performance as Peter Allen in A Boy from Oz a decade ago appears to have shaped the Australian actor’s image and raised speculation that the marriage between Jackman, 44, and Furness, 57, was a “sham.”
“It is just wrong, it’s like, it’s a lie,” said Furness, sitting alongside her husband. “It’s just offensive. If he was gay, fine, he would say he’s gay. It has gotten so out of whack … it’s stupid, yeah, it’s annoying, because it’s not true.” Furness added that playing a psychopath does not make an actor a psychopath any more than playing a gay man makes an actor gay.
[From MSN News]
I can totally understand why the persistence of these rumors would upset Deborra because, like I said above, she’s taking it personally because people tend to point towards her physical appearance as indicative of Hugh’s sexual preference. She’s not saying that being gay is “stupid” or “offensive,” but she’s saying that people’s attitudes towards her marriage are both of those things. I’ll never understand why people have to be so nasty, and sadly, I think people will only gain more ammunition by the fact that she’s so plagued by these rumors.

| Hugh Jackman covers Men's Fitness: 'it's easier for me to be polite than an a-hole' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Hugh Jackman covers Men’s Fitness in a t-shirt, which is somewhat disappointing to me. However I know that Hugh Jackman shirtless photos occasionally come out, and that we’ll have lots of opportunities to admire his manly chest when Wolverine comes out at the end of next month. Maybe, if we’re lucky, he’ll do some frolicking beach candids as part of the lead-up. Here’s hoping! Also, Hugh fills out a t-shirt much better than meathead Joe Manganiello, who can’t act his way out of a paper bag. I was just reminded of that in the season premiere of True Blood. Someone needs to put those stupid methhead wolves out of their misery.
Getting back to Hugh, he’s gorgeous, he’s thoughtful, he’s polite, and he’s an all-around decent guy. He knows this too, and he explains it in a very matter-of-fact way, saying that it’s easier to be nice to someone than to tell them off. I’m going to try and keep this in mind in my day-to-day life, not that I have an anger issue but I will tell someone off for being rude. (Cutting in line is a pet issue of mine.)
On Dwayne Johnson?s fitness advice: ?He told me that if in a six-month period you want to put on 25 pounds of lean muscle and not fat, eat natural and eat 6,000 calories a day. There were times when I would literally eat with the mind set of working out. ?One more mouthful, one more, come on, come on, you?ve got to finish this meal!??
On being referred to as the Nicest Guy in Hollywood: ?As an actor, I?ve always believed that any label is your enemy. Look, I was brought up in a way where you treat people with respect. So it?s certainly easier for me to be polite and respectful to people than to be an asshole. Like, if I?m walking down the street with my family and the 29th person says, ?Hey man, can I get a photo?? for me to say, ?No photos, get f?ked?? for the next hour I?ll be thinking I shouldn?t have said that. Whereas, if I say either, ?Yeah, no problem,? or, ?Listen, I?m with my family now, but it?s nice to meet you,? then I move on, in a way it?s easier. It?s a mixture of that and also not being a wanker.?
On trying to be himself: ?I try to be myself as much as I can when I?m not acting, for better or worse, but I?ve had publicists who?ve told me it?s a bad idea: ?You move your hands too much, you did this too many times, you should do this, you shouldn?t talk about that.??

I love him so much! I want to have Hugh’s babies and make whichever constant recipes he needs for his latest fad diets. I know he’s happily married and it’s not to be, but that just ads to the attraction for me. He is good, committed husband and father, and while Hugh is widely admired he just doesn’t get enough love. You know why that is? Because he’s not controversial. As he said, he’s just who he is and he doesn’t try to be anyone else. He’s a genuine person and that comes through in everything he does. Also, he better win an Oscar in the next handful of years.

| Hugh Jackman cries on 60 minutes when talking about family: Oscar bid or real? | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

These are photos of Hugh Jackman at the Les Miserables premiere in New York last night. Kaiser will be covering the ladies shortly. He was there with his wife of 16 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, aka “that lucky bitch.” I love these two together and hope we never hear a whiff of scandal about them.
Hugh was interviewed on 60 Minutes this Sunday, and it’s an understatement to say that I enjoyed it. I loved seeing that interview, and although I’m already a fan I came away with more respect and adoration for Hugh than ever. Hugh’s Les Mis co-star Anne Hathaway may be blanketing us with her Oscar campaign, but I think Hugh just cinched it in this single, focused segment.
A lot of outlets are focusing on Hugh breaking down crying when he describes how his mother abandoned his family, including his father and Hugh’s two brothers and two sisters, when he was just eight. (Hugh has since reconnected with his mother, and did see her about once a year after she left.) Hugh has discussed this before, and it’s not exactly when he started crying in the interview. Hugh started crying when talking about how his father, who raised him and his siblings as a single parent, tells him to value his family above all else. It wasn’t a put on from Hugh and you could tell that he was genuinely affected.
That wasn’t the part of Hugh’s interview that got me choked up, though. I got choked up seeing segments of his performance in Les Mis. If just a clip from the film is that powerful, imagine how incredible the whole movie is going to be. I want this Oscar for Hugh. Here are some highlights from his interview, and the video is in full below.
On singing live while filming Les Mis instead of recording it in the studio
You get an emotional truth. For example, there’s one song and it’s, literally, written like this: “What have I done, sweet Jesus? What have I done? Become a thief in the night, become a dog on the run. Have I fallen so far and is the hour so late that nothing remains but the cry of my hate?” That’s how it’s written… I could mix it up, I could take a pause. If I was emotional, I could be emotional.
On his mom leaving his family in Australia to return to her native England
Yeah. I don’t think she thought for a second it would be forever when she went. I think she thought it was, “I just need to get away, and I’ll come back.” Dad used to pray every night that mum would come back.
On if he worried his dad would leave too
Never, in a million years, could I imagine, my father is a rock. My father is my rock. It’s where I learned everything about loyalty, dependability, about being there day-in, day-out, no matter what.
On meeting his future wife during his first acting job
I just had an absolute certainty that she was the person I was gonna be with for the rest of my life. Even when Deb tried to break up with me, which she did. I said– “Don’t worry, I get it. I’m your worst nightmare. A young actor in his first job, but don’t worry. We’re gonna be together. This is it.”
On the advice his dad gives him now (this is when he starts to cry)
It’s always about the family. Ah, ah, it’s all– sorry, mate. It’s always, “How’s Deb?” It’s not about work. And I think that’s him living with, probably, some of his regrets and feelings of maybe he– you know, at the wrong time, put too much into his career. And he doesn’t want me to make that mistake. And so, in his gentle way, he always reminds me this is the most important thing.
On preparing his body for his roles
Well this is your tool as much as your voice, as much as your emotions, and so I’ve always taken that very seriously and I love playing Wolverine. It’s a great character, but I want it to be better than the last time. I want to be physically in better shape, otherwise, there’s no point doing it.
On if he thought it would limit his career to playing gay songwriter Peter Allen on Broadway
Never thought it for a second. What sexuality you are is not the most interesting thing about you. It’s the kind of person you are. And that role, just, had, first of all, it was naughty.
I would never give myself permission to do the things I did as Peter Allen. And his sexuality, for me, w– is another costume. It’s a personality trait, it’s not who you really are. However, when I was doing Peter Allen, there’s a scene where I kiss my boyfriend, who’s dying of AIDS. And I go in for the kiss, and I heard this, “Don’t do it, Wolverine.”
[From 60 Minutes]
This is why I love Hugh. He comes across as so dedicated to his wife and kids and incredibly honed to his craft. There’s something so real and so heartfelt about Hugh. He’s rare among leading men and his talent is undeniable.
Also, we may see Hugh out with his children in his everyday life, but it’s very interesting to me that they weren’t shown on 60 Minutes. He could have easily filmed a quick scene outdoors playing with them, but he didn’t. He decided to keep them off camera when he could have used them to bolster his family man image.
Here’s the interview, in full, from 60 Minutes. There’s an amazing performance from Hugh, in Les Mis, around 4:00. He talks about his mother leaving at around 5:00. Hugh’s wife is interviewed around 8:30. At 9:10 Hugh starts crying. The highlight, though, is when he works out at 10:40! Holy crap look at his arms.
My advice to Deborra-Lee – work on your shoe game, girl. You already won the man lottery.
Hugh looks so good with that Wolverine beard!

No, theWolverine sequel won’t be part musical like how Spider-Man 3 was. Baby Jesus would kill himself if that happened. Psy was just visiting the set ofWolverine and teaching Hugh Jackman, who just turned 44 last week, how to dance. Gangnam Style. Psy even got his own claws. I wish I had my own claws. You know how much more annoying it could be when I poke someone?
Anyway, it’s a little less awesome when you watch the video. There’s no music so it’s just them fake riding a horse with Wolverine claws. If I was there, I would have at least loudly hummed the music.
