I actually thought GQ had already done their big ?GQ Men of the Year? thing with the dueling covers of Justin Theroux (HA!), Jeff Bridges and Idris Elba. But I guess this is a separate event ? most magazines do something special for their last issue of the year, where they name their ?best? whatever of the year. And guess what Justin Timberlake got for 2013? He?s GQ?s ?Hashtag of the Year?. It sounds insulting, right? He’s not the best musical act or best actor (hahaha) or anything like that. He’s the Best Hashtag. You can see Justin?s GQ slideshow here ? those are actually pretty nice photos. As for the interview? well, I?m only reading the excerpts, but Justin comes across like a whiner. As usual.
In the magazine, Jessica Biel’s husband slams his critics for hating on his new film, Runner Runner, and album, The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2, calling it a “double whammy.” GQ reports that Variety ran an op-ed titled “Why Justin Timberlake Should Stop Acting,” after Runner Runner, which also stars Ben Affleck, made only $8 million at the box office opening weekend.
Timberlake also tells the magazine that Billboard wrote (in his own words), ‘Tell him to leave his second half at home.’ Where did all this vitriol come from? It’s mean. And I’m not cut out for it.”
“The movie didn’t do well at the box office, so I should quit? Hold on a second,” he says. “If I was somebody else, you wouldn’t have said that. I have the number one album this week, and I shouldn’t have released it? Come on, man. You sound like a dickhead . . . It just shocked me because, like, you’re trade magazines. None of your opinions count. And by the way, none of you can do it.”
The former ‘N Sync member also tells the magazine that growing up in Memphis, Tenn. defines who he is today — and how he handles criticism. “It’s a struggling city with a defeatist attitude. I’m from this town, and I grew up with a little bit of a chip on my shoulder, so sometimes I find it funny that I’ve been able to acquire the patience it takes to be kind to people in our business,” he says. “Because sometimes I just want to f–king kill everybody.”
[From Us Weekly]
Well, he?s right about one thing: he?s not cut out for it. And I covered that Variety editorial/column about how Justin should quit acting. It was on-target. And no, it wasn?t just because Runner, Runner bombed ?it?s because Justin can?t carry a film, nor is he an effective supporting actor or character actor. He?s extremely talented as a pop artist ? no one is saying otherwise. But he?s an awful actor. But I guess my opinion doesn?t count. Neither does yours. Which is why it doesn?t matter that all of us never see Justin?s movies and that?s why they keep bombing. Because we?re all dickheads and we should let Justin be a special little butterfly. Who can?t act his way out of a paper bag.

He?s no stranger to chart-topping albums, and Justin Timberlake's latest release The 20/20 Experience 2/2 just landed at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart.
The ?Take Back the Night? crooner?s opus moved 350,000 copies in its first week, giving him his second number one album of 2013.
Other than Justin, the only other artist to score two #1 albums this year is country singer Luke Bryan.
And Mr. Timberlake is in good company- his top ten contemporaries include New Zealander Lorde and download kings HAIM.

Did you go to see Runner, Runner this weekend? Probably not. The big story for this weekend?s box office was the domination of Gravity. I was expecting Gravity to do well ? the critical praise for the film was universal ? but I didn?t think it would do as well as it did. Gravity made $55.6 million in North America this weekend, mostly because of the boost it got from IMAX and 3D theaters. So, good news for Sandra Bullock, who is still the reigning box office champion time after time. She?s having a great year ? The Heat was a box office success as well. Basically, I?m saying that if Sandra wants an Oscar nomination this year for Gravity (and probably a Golden Globe nomination for The Heat), all she has to do is show up.
But for me, the more interesting story is Runner, Runner and how Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake barely promoted it and how it couldn?t even break $10 million even though it was playing in 3000 theaters. It?s easy enough to blame this mess on Justin, mostly because HE was ?the star? and Hollywood just won?t admit that the boy can?t act whatsoever. But let?s give Ben Affleck some blame too. This was the first ?Ben Affleck movie? to come out since he won the Oscar for Argo. THIS is how he followed up his Oscar. These are the kind of career decisions that lead to Gigli and Jersey Girl. No joke. And this is dude who will be Batman? HA.
Here are some photos of Justin playing golf this weekend. So much for shilling his new movie. Attention to producers: this is what you get when you hire Justin Timberlake. Not only is he a terrible actor, but he?s also awful at standing up and promoting his work. So why are you still hiring him?!

Fitting in some fun and relaxation into his busy schedule, Justin Timberlake and friends went golfing at the Lakeside Country Club in Burbank, California on Saturday (October 5).
The "Mirrors" singer sported a navy blue polo, khaki pants, and a Memphis Grizzlies baseball cap as he enjoyed a cold one on the course.
Though his focus is now on music, with "The 20/20 Experience - 2 of 2" just released, fans can catch the 32-year-old star both in concert and on the big screen nowadays.
Currently, "Runner, Runner" is in theaters - a film co-starring Ben Affleck that follows a poor college student who gets involved in online gambling and finds himself beaten by a cheater.

Weary after Rock'n Rio and promoting his new film, Justin Timberlake jetted out of Rio de Janeiro on Monday (September 16).
The "Sexyback" singer wore a white graphic T-shirt, khaki pants, and a black fedora as he was escorted through the airport by a bodyguard.
Last week, the 32-year-old pop star spoke to the New York Times Magazine about his upcoming album, The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2.
Comparing it to Part 1, JT explains, "[It's] the hotter, older evil twin sister. If you could imagine you?re 16 and she?s everything you thought. She?s Marilyn Monroe and then you meet her older sister. Everything that?s dark and wrong about her at that age is why you become infatuated with her.?

| Justin Timberlake keeps hustlin' after he 'wins' the VMAs: cheesy or admirable' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Without a doubt, I think Justin Timberlake ?won? Sunday night?s VMAs. I was sitting there thinking to myself, ?Wow, I didn?t know he still had it in him? OMG, I had forgotten how many great pop songs Justin has made.? Which is the point of these Video Vanguard Awards, I think. A sense of nostalgia, a reawakened interest in the artist. Because truth be told, Justin?s new album isn?t all that. The songs feel bloated, weighed down by their own sense of self-importance. That?s why the VMAs were so interesting ? like, did Justin think to himself, ?Hey, remember when I used to make great pop music??
So Justin earned a lot of goodwill with his 20-minute hustle, but just hours later, he?s got to remind everyone why he?s still sort of douche-y. Justin wrote an open letter on his website yesterday:
The last time I wrote you an open letter, it was in January and I promised that it would be a “Big 2013.” Since then, from The Grammys to the release of the first part of The 20/20 Experience to the crowd’s response at the VMAs, it’s been a wild ride. I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have.
This letter is to tell you that we’re not done…Not even close.
On Sept 30th, the second half of The 20/20 Experience, “The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2?, comes out. Since all these songs were written together over a year ago, it’s been so hard to wait this long to release them. I can’t wait for all of you to hear The 20/20 Experience in full.
So..below is a short clip of the recording of the experience so you can get a feel of what those 20 days were like. It was like no other time I’ve ever had in the studio.
Catch your breath, TN Kids. We’ve still got the 3rd and 4th quarter to go.
This is too much fun.
[From Justin?s site]
Crap, I didn?t realize The 20/20 Experience was a two-part album. Hopefully Part 2 will have all of the really good songs? Harsh, I know. Anyway, do you think it?s cheesy for Justin to go back to ?shilling? mode just after he wins a de facto lifetime achievement award? Or do you think it?s all part of the same hustling game? Because if Justin proved anything at the VMAs, it was that he?s not ?above? shilling and hustling. Which is sort of admirable AND cheesy.
Oh, and you know how Justin was all ?You asked for it? when N*Snyc came out? I wondered if he was saying that because he did NOT ask for it but he felt obligated to include his boy-bander past. Turns out, that?s exactly what happened. Us Weekly says that the rest of the N*Syncguys were pissed off that their part was so brief, and that Justin vetoed his former bandmates singing for any longer. A source tells Us Weekly: ?They were pushing for more. While he was thrilled they could come for him, he didn’t want the reunion to be the whole thing. They originally were told that it was going to be more of their old hits, not just Bye Bye Bye — but then Justin reworked it. The guys wished it could have been more songs. He told them to trust him, he was going to make it great.” JT: still kind of a douche.

These are pictures of Justin “My Music Career Hangs Over Me Like A Cloud” Timberlake outside his Philadelphia hotel last week. I feel the inexplicable need to apologize on behalf of JT for douching up one of my favorite cities (Philly forever!). Naturally, Justin was wearing one of the dual-heart t-shirts that is meant to signify his current tour with Jay-Z.
That detail brings me to a point that I attempted to make the last time I discussed how Justin resented returning to his music career because — let’s face it — what he really wants to do is act. Poor JT is such an industry clich that he doesn’t even realize it. I’ve been keeping tabs on him since he signed onto The Social Network, and my armchair diagnosis is that JT felt spurned by the fact that Jesse Eisenberg received an Oscar nomination for that movie while he was utterly forgotten. After all, Justin was piddling along with “SNL” appearances and bit roles in substandard films for a few years, but he figured that good ol’ David Fincher would score him his much deserved Oscar nom. It turns out that Oscars have (arguably) higher standards than Grammys.
So Justin sighed heavily. And then he returned to music with a lackluster, substandard album called The 20/20 Experience, which was far below the level of his 2006 release, Future Sex/Love Sounds. Because we forced him do so in order to continue to earn millions of dollars. And then he toured with Jay-Z. Because we made him do it.
Now Justin must be feeling truly desperate because he’s agreed to perform a reunion with his former NSYNC members at the MTV VMAs:
Justin Timberlake and his former *NSYNC band members are set to reunite for a special performance on the VMAs Sunday night at the Barclays Center, sources tell Page Six. MTV announced that Timberlake, who topped the charts in the late ?90s with the band, will perform at the VMAs and receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. But we?re told former bandmates J.C. Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick are scheduled to join him onstage for a reunion performance. On Friday night, the *NSYNC crew were all spotted in the singer?s VIP section at his concert with Jay Z at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, joining Jessica Biel and Timberlake?s mother, Lynn Harless.
[From Page Six]
Okay, I’ll admit to looking forward to watching this edition of the VMAs, but that’s only to see what Miley Cyrus churns out. Also, I’m genuinely looking forward to watching Robin Thicke in a live capacity. As for Justin’s NSYNC reunion? Bitch, please.
In the meantime, let’s all feel very sorry for Justin while he earns tons of money while touring with Jay-Z and Timbalake. Poor guy clearly has to get drunk onstage while doing so.

Switching gears while on their Legends of Summer Tour, Justin Timberlake appeared in Jay Z's music video for "Holy Grail" in Los Angeles on Friday (August 2).
The "Sexyback" singer wore a long black coat, a black T-shirt with a creepy face on the front, and black pants as he belted out his part during the night-time shoot.
Recently, the 32-year-old crooner offered his fans a chance to share in the spotlight, holding a "Take Back the Night" photo contest.
Once chosen, the photos of fans and their friends out on the town will be featured on the Jumbotron in Times Square.
