Stepping out for a promotional appearance, Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted at the New York City premiere of her new film “Did You Hear About the Morgans?” last night (December 14).
The “Failure to Launch” actress looked lovely as she arrived at the Ziegfeld Theatre sporting a busty black dress and mingling with costar Hugh Grant and “Sex and the City” colleagues Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall.
Speaking of “SATC,” SJP told press that she was shocked at how tall Miley Cyrus was when she came to the movie set to film her cameo for the upcoming sequel.
“I was astounded by her height. Did you know that she’s tall? She’s like a Viking. I had no idea! [Miley’s] a beautiful young lady and very self-possesed. I literally was not in the scene with her. I was in the scene, but we were not [onscreen] together. But she was lovely and on time and prompt and professional, very sweet.”

These are photos from the Did You Heard About the Morgans? premiere in London last last night. What can I say? Hugh Grant is no longer a ?sad and lonely old man?. He?s got a girlfriend named Sarah Jessica Parker. That?s what you would think, looking through these photos. In case anyone accuses me of just picking out the ones where SJP is draped on Hugh like white on rice, let just tell you: they are all like this. SJP was clinging to Hugh. To his credit, professionalism and good humor, Hugh seemed game, although slightly taken aback with SJP?s vampy, trying-too-hard poses.
As for the fashion - well, SJP looks alright. I?ve found her sketchy on the past few red carpets that I can recall (like this past Oscar red carpet), but I get her look at this premiere. The hair is not bad, the L?Wren Scott dress works for her figure, but there are several pictures of her adjusting herself, so I think the fit was probably off. I don?t really care for the patterned fabric of the dress, but that?s just me. I?m sure some people will find it gorgeous. To me, it looks like curtain fabric. But great shoes, et cetera. And Hugh looks nice too! Black suit, no tie, hair messy, classic Hugh. Not dapper, but not plain either.
The biggest news was probably that Hugh?s ex Liz Hurley showed up - and she brought her husband Arun Nayar. I don?t really get them as a couple, but Arun looks happy to be attending a premiere on the arm of the ex-girlfriend of one of the film?s stars. Here?s more:
Hugh Grant’s glamorous former girlfriend Liz Hurley was on hand to support his latest film. The pair - who dated for 13 years and split in 2000 - met the crowds at the premiere of Did You Hear About The Morgans? in London’s Leicester Square.
And Hurley, 44, who attended with husband Arun Nayar, may have even upstaged fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker - who also stars in the film - in the dress stakes with a figure-hugging Pink and red number.
But Parker also turned heads in a strapless Pink mini dress designed by L’Wren Scott, paired with towering Charlotte Olympia heels, as she walked the red carpet with co-star Hugh Grant.
Hundreds of fans, many brandishing Sex And The City memorabilia, gathered to see the stars and collect autographs.
In the film, Grant and Parker play a successful Manhattan couple whose marriage is dissolving. After they witness a murder, police force them to move together to a tiny Wyoming town for their protection.
Parker said it was “easy” to work with Grant, adding: “I adore him. He makes me laugh. I am not unique. A romantic comedy working with Hugh Grant - what fool would say no?”
Grant said the actress was “exceptionally nice”.
He added: “She’s not at all actressy or Hollywood or starry, she’s just a good egg and funny.”

Ha! I just read The Daily Mail?s coverage of the premiere, in a piece called ?Now Sarah Jessica Parker encounters Hugh Grant’s wandering hands?. Er? Hugh didn?t know where to put his hands! She was all over him! He had to put his hands somewhere, or else he would look totally over her. Anyway, SJP also said in a red carpet interview that Hugh was ?easy? to work with and ?I adore him. He makes me laugh. I am not unique.” Well? at least they get along. And we have the photos to prove it.

Hugh Grant is not aging that well, yes? But it?s kind of lovely too. He looks his age - a 49 year old man with no Botox, fillers or plastic surgery. He makes crow?s feet very sexy, I think. Anyway, Hugh?s a champ at giving self-effacing interviews. They actually border on self-pitying, but then you imagine Hugh?s lovely accent, and he just comes across as a fumbling guy with a lovely voice who has esteem issues. In another post, I?m afraid I gave the impression that I don?t care for Hugh - that?s not the truth. I like him a lot. I just wish he would make better movies. I?m not asking for Shakespeare (although he would be lovely in one of Shakespeare?s comedies), but just a higher class of romantic comedies. His new film, Did You Hear About The Morgans? looks horrible, in my opinion. But anyway?
So Hugh sat down for a long interview with The Mirror to promote his new film, co-starring Sarah Jessica Parker. Hugh describes himself on the verge of his 50th birthday as fearful he will never settle down and he?ll wind up a ?lonely, sad old man?. Oh, yes. It?s that kind of interview. Here?s the full (extensive) interview and here are the highlights:
In an exclusive interview, the star of Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones and Love Actually admits he?s terrified of hitting the big 5-0 next September. Hugh Grant says: ?Fifty?s not a good number and we all have age terror sometimes in the middle of the night. I think I might have made a sort of pact with the devil in which I think I can have fun now and sort everything later. But then he comes back and says, ?Time?s up and I?m taking you to hell as you?re going to be a lonely, sad old man?.?
?I do worry that could happen to me. To be honest, I don?t feel that old. I think I?m rather young and sprightly but then you see pictures of yourself and think, ?Who is that old man?? and I realise I?m not as young as I thought I was.?
?Someone took my picture in London the other day and the next day a newspaper said I looked every one of my 49 years and looked very tired and portly.?
Hugh, who famously dated Liz Hurley and Jemima Khan, believes he will remain eternally single due to what he calls ?love avoidance? ? backing off when relationships become too serious.
?A girl once told me the theory of love avoidance and it just sounded familiar,? he says. ?It happens when you draw someone in and then you push them away as soon as they get too close. Then you bring them back and push them away again. I look at life and I see some very happy relationships but I also see the vast majority as not being that happy. I couldn?t put my hand on my heart and say I think that being in a relationship is a natural state for a human being.?
However, he claims he?s not given up hope of becoming a dad.
?I have no doubt that I?d be a marvellous father,? he says. ?Maybe not when they?re tiny but when they?re a little bit older I think I?d be rather good. I?ve noticed I?ve become touchingly good with my nephews and nieces and cousins, so I don?t have that doubt.?
Grant was very close to his mother, Fynvola, who died of pancreatic cancer in July 2001, and he adores his father James, who he sees for a regular Sunday night supper.
?I regard him as an impeccable father and I love him very much but I would say he was of the old school,? he says. ?I see lots of fathers now who think they have to join in with their sons the whole time and he certainly didn?t do that. In fact I played rugby from 10 years of age through to university and he only ever came to watch me once. But I was never remotely upset by that ? most boys? parents didn?t come and watch. Nowadays no child plays a game of soccer or whatever without 300 relations on the touchline. I think times have changed and I think the old-fashioned way is fine.?
Hugh confesses he does not make friends easily and shies away from one-on-one meetings.
?Personally I find it quite difficult to be alone with one person,? he admits. ?There aren?t many people I can sit and have lunch and feel totally at ease with and not be in a slight panic about making conversation. There are only about five people in the world I can do that with and I have to call those my best friends.?
Hugh is speaking in Los Angeles after taking two years off from acting ? turning down all offers of work following his 2007 movie Music and Lyrics alongside Drew Barrymore. The reason for his partial retirement, he reveals, was a series of crippling panic attacks which forced him to rely on heavy doses of prescription drugs to keep calm.
While making Music and Lyrics, in which he played faded pop star Alex Fletcher, he had ?four or five terrible panic attacks,? and adds: ?I did the whole film full of lorazepam? ? a drug used to treat anxiety disorders.
?It was scary. When I got back home I put Post-it notes around my computer saying, ?Accept no more films.??
But he was persuaded to return for the comedy Did You Hear About The Morgans? ? out on January 1 ? after seeking out a variety of different therapies.
?I went to every shrink in London,? he says. ?I had every treatment ? I had a man oscillate something in front of my eyes and another man who stabbed me in the arm. The one thing that did me some good was a bloke who said that when you have a panic attack it?s your natural adrenalin which you need to do the scene, but just a fraction too much. So if you just breathe and take it down a little you can do it. Just knowing that helped, so I got through this movie just about all right. Just.?

Hugh goes on to say that he agreed to do Morgans after reading the script, and because he ?thought this was a more mature sort of thing for me to do in my advancing years.? He also has high praise for Sarah Jessica Parker, saying that she?s ?one of the funniest, nicest, least actressy human beings I?ve ever come across but she?s the polar opposite of me in the sense that I do almost nothing in life and she literally never stops. She?s on her BlackBerry all day long. She?s producing Sex and the City, she?s got a perfume business, she?s got a clothes business, she?s got three kids and a husband. She?s a really high energy New York girl. I?m impressed with her but I?ll never be that person.? Well? God bless. It breaks my heart a little, but I?m wondering if this film is actually going to do well. Hugh has been promoting the hell out of it, and it?s the kind of light comedy I suspect people will like during the holidays.

Does Hugh Grant need a hit? It looks like it. Either that or he?s going soft in his old age (he?s 49 years old, and I?m joking). My point is that Hugh is out there talking up his new film Did You Hear About the Morgans? It?s like he doesn?t realize the film is awful. Granted, I don?t know if the film is truly terrible, but it certainly looks mind-numbingly bad. Hugh and Sarah Jessica Parker play an estranged, separated couple who witness a mob murder and have to go into witness protection? together. They fall in love all over again, and if you consider that a spoiler, then you have never seen a Hugh Grant movie, so why would you start with this one?
Anyway, Hugh was interviewed by Parade Magazine, and he?s less hardcore than he used to be. Not that he was really butch and punk before, but he had a bit of an edge. Not anymore. Now he just talks ruefully about babies. Seriously! The photographs from Parade are a bit rough too - the man isn?t aging as gracefully as we hoped (slideshow here). The closeup is especially difficult - but I will say that I don?t think Hugh?s had any work done. So, applause!
Embracing the prospect of fatherhood.
“Ten years ago, I wouldn’t have thought about having children at all. But now I have so many nephews and nieces and cousins and godchildren, I like the thought. But that’s on the basis that I can leave after 10 minutes. I don’t know what it would be like 24 hours a day. I think I’d have a lot of nannies.”
Does he think he’ll have children?
“Yes, yes, yes. I haven’t given up hope.”
Does he think he would be a good dad?
“Yes, I do rather. I find I’m not as bad with children as I used to be.”
His hands-off approach to parenthood.
“I see a lot of children over-parented now, by my standards. Over-adored, over-spoiled. I quite like the children left alone to get on with it.”
Indulging in a hobby that is increasingly taking over his life.
“I’m very embarrassed about my golf habit. It’s awful. I wish it had never happened to me. I used to have a well-rounded personality, many interests, and now I don’t really care about anything except golf. I went as a joke [12 years ago]. But I quite liked it. I used to be a big reader. Now I read Dave Pelz’s Putting Bible.”
As a child, he was always putting on plays for the grown-ups.
“Well, it wasn’t me who dressed everyone up in curtains. It was my aunts. But it is true to say I always thought I was the best actor, and I did feel that way at school. It doesn’t mean to say I thought, ‘I want to do this for a living.’ I never felt that.”
His life seems to have settled down some now.
“My laziness is really profound. I’m really interested in where it comes from–it almost feels chemical. And we’ve all got ADD now, short attention span and all that. I found by far the best drug for calming me down is to go out at 5 in the morning and run for 45 minutes. And although I’m calm, I don’t really find life as funny as I do if I’m more miserable and tense.”
His thoughts on what he calls ‘love avoidance.’
“If you have a smothering parent, the effect it can apparently have on a child is to give them, in equal doses, a sense of too much self-esteem, because they are mummy’s little princess or prince, and low self-esteem. It affects future relationships. You want to repeat this smothering thing, and you are very adept at bringing people in to love you, love you, and as soon as they get close enough, you push them away. Then you bring them back and push them away again. You can go on torturing people like that for ages.”
Loving his leading ladies.
“I loved Bullock. And I really love Sarah Jessica. I adore her. She’s very, very original. And funny. Very clever. These girls are amusing and bubbly and charming. You can’t act that. You have to be that.”

Hugh Grant is a gifted comedic actor, by my standards. His parents thought he was a little prince and spoiled him rotten, ruining him in adulthood, by my standards. Maybe this outfit is too ?high fashion? for my tastes. Maybe I?m not cool enough to get it. But only one word comes to mind when I look at this dress. That word is ?fug?. It makes me sad. It obviously makes Kristen sad too, considering she looks either depressed or like she?s forcing a smile in all of these pictures. Does she know that her dress sucks? Anyway, here?s Kristen Stewart and the New Moon gang at the London premiere Wednesday night. In a weird coincidence, I was wondering the other day if Sparkles had the same kind of sketchy, ridiculous, violent Twihard fanbase in his home country, England. Now I know - he does. And the English Twihards are just as f-cking crazy. The Daily Mail reports that Twihards had written ?Bite Me? on their faces (probably in permanent ink), while one girl had a handmade poster that read? chuckle? that read? giggle? okay, this is what was written: ?’You’ll look at me with eyes that see and we’ll melt into each other’s arms.? Damn it, English Twihards! You are killing me!
Already being touted as the next Hugh Grant, 23-year-old Pattinson is the star of the series of films, high school dramas about a teenage vampire. Such is the popularity of the films, which are based on the books by US author Stephanie Meyer, that many are tipping the franchise to become even more successful than Harry Potter.
Around 2,000 hysterical fans- almost exclusively women - descended on south London and queued in freezing conditions to meet Pattinson and his co-star Kristen Stewart, 19, who were hosting a question and answer session.
It was arranged to appease fans distraught that the film’s makers had ditched plans for a London Premiere of the second film in the series. A further 2,000 fans had been allowed inside the venue. They had beaten tens of thousands of other hopefuls after applying through the Twilight fansite.
Mere mention of his name was met with deafening screams from the crowd. The reaction was extraordinary given that just six years ago, he was still a schoolboy with minor roles with a local amateur dramatic society. He even had to take small time modelling jobs to find his education at the 13,500 pound a year Harrodian school in South West London.
Tonight’s scenes were even more manic than last year when the first film premiered in London. That film - released last November - made more the 50m pounds in its first three days at the box-office. It has since gone on to make more than 300million.
Pattinson now has hundreds of fan sites dedicated to him. Many fans had been camped outside the venue in Battersea Park since 8am yesterday morning with hundreds travelling from countries such as Bulgaria and Spain in a bid to meet Pattinson and the rest of the cast.
One fan, Elisa, 18, who arrived with a sign that read, ‘Robert, bite me’, said: ‘I’ve come all the way from Spain and been here all day to try and make sure I got to the front. I’m obsessed with the films and the books. Robert is the most handsome man I’ve ever seen he’s the main reason I’m here.’
The star is rumoured to be in a relationship with his co-star Kristen Stewart, who appeared underwhelming in a green skirt and top, although the pair did not reveal anything as they walked the red carpet with Pattinson saying: ‘It’s speculative.’
Ms Stewart, 19, chose to concentrate on how they behaved on-screen. The actress said: ‘Any good relationship that I’ve ever had with an actor has always been so emotional and personal. If you don’t have that then you’re just lying.’

Oh, yes. Sparkles is ?the next Hugh Grant? - barf to that. But I love that his answer to the romance rumors was ?it?s speculative.? That?s cracking me just as much as the crazed Twihards. In the world wide promotional tour for New Moon, the three stars and the director sat down for a press conference on Wednesday in Rob?s hometown of London, and he was quite charming talking about the changes he deals with in his everyday life.
?It?s such a novelty to me still,? the scruffy vampire heartthrob said about the fame and fan attention he receives. ?If I?m still stuck in hotel rooms in 10 years and I have figured any other way to deal with it other than hiding it probably would annoy me a little bit.?
While we didn?t see any romantic interaction between Rob and Kristen at the press conference, Rob and Kristen were spotted Tuesday evening holding hands as they left Paris for London. Sitting in between his co-stars during the press conference, Rob gave Kristen a playful elbow to answer a question, but alas, that was all the touching between Bella and Edward. Taylor stepped in and answered the question, saying ?I?m always surprised by fan reactions.?
When asked what he missed RPattz said ?I guess I miss doing open mike,? and we?re sure fans would love to see the leader of the Brit Pack perform a song or two. ?I really miss driving,? Rob confessed. ?I never had a car in London and so I got my car in LA last summer so I only had three moths driving without 10 cars following you so I?m scared to drive now.? Kristen smiled as he told the story, and we?re sure she sympathizes with having so many people follow her.

If it was anyone else, I would be rolling my eyes until they fell out of my sockets. But since it?s Hugh Grant, I?m willing to give him a pass. Hugh is talking about quitting the biz after fifteen years - and it?s not the first time Hugh?s threatened to pick up his toys and go home. He?s been talking about quitting since he first became a star, in Four Weddings and a Funeral (which is one of those rare rom-coms that stands the test of time, I just watched it a few weeks ago).
Hugh told Entertainment Weekly (via the Daily Mail) all about his constant ?stage-fright? and his panic attacks at having to perform on camera. Considering he?s said this stuff again and again over the course of fifteen years, should we even take him seriously?
He said he had been on the verge of quitting acting before his life-changing audition for Four Weddings and a Funeral.
He has since described his job as a ?miserable experience? and threatened to retire at least twice. And now, just months after completing work on yet another movie, Hugh Grant is talking about throwing the towel in yet again.
Blaming a string of stage fright attacks, the 48-year-old actor insists he is ready to give up his day job at last.
?I like everything about filming except the acting,? he told US magazine Entertainment Weekly. ?I?m wonderful in rehearsals, but I have never been very good when they actually switch the cameras on. In recent years I?ve had really bad attacks where I totally froze up. I though ?Well, if I am going to get stage fright, then I am packing it in?.?
Despite being best-known for hit films like Four Weddings, Love Actually and Notting Hill, Grant said it was filming roles in comedies which made him ?particularly nervous?. But the actor?s habit of threatening to quit - and then signing up for another movie - will have people wondering if he really is ready for retirement.
He claimed his Four Weddings audition would have been his last if he hadn?t landed the role in the 1994 film, which subsequently propelled him to international stardom. He then announced plans to retire after spending 10 years in the business, saying fear was beginning to get the better of him when he stepped in front of the cameras.
When 2004 came around he still seemed set on the idea, claiming film acting was a ?miserable experience? and ?so difficult to get right?. But despite describing himself as ?semi-retired? after filming the sequel to Bridget Jones, he went on to make American Dreamz and Music and Lyrics.
Grants has admitted that he feels slightly embarrassed for threatening to quit acting and then signing on for new films.
?I realise how ridiculous that makes me look,? he told Entertainment Weekly. And this time it remains to be seen if he will stay true to his word.
His latest mutterings about retirement come just months after completing work on Did You Hear About The Morgans?, his first film in two years.
The movie, which also stars Sex and The City actress Sarah Jessica Parker, 44, tells the tale of a rich New York couple who witness a murder and are re-located to Wyoming. Despite his stage fright, Grant said he enjoyed filming in New Mexico and, as a result, had become a fan of country and western music.
?I’m horrifying all my chic London friends,? he said. ?The only one I’m allowed to listen to is Johnny Cash. Apparently he’s okay. But I like hillbilly - beat that for uncool.?
Perhaps a potential role in the third Bridget Jones movie will be the next project to persuade Grant to do an about-turn on his retirement plan. Renee Zellweger, 40, has already signed up to play the hapless singleton in the third installment of the popular franchise. Production is expected to start late next year.

I?m perfectly willing to blame Sarah Jessica Parker for this latest morose outlook on life. The man doesn?t work for two years, then works with SJP and suddenly he?s like ?Seriously, I can?t take this anymore!? No, only joking. It?s not SJP?s fault. It?s Hugh. He?s a high-maintenance diva, and he always has been. Maybe I should blame the depressing country music? You know Hugh?s not listening to the Dixie Chicks, he?s probably listening to the ?my wife left me and she took the hound dog and the beer with her? stuff.
It is good to hear he?s already signed on to the third Bridget Jones movie - hopefully the plot won?t revolve around the Darcy-Daniel-Bridget love triangle again. I?m saying a little prayer that they do something for Daniel Cleaver that really screws Bridget up in a more meaningful way - like giving him a wife and kids.

Paparazzi caught up with Hugh Grant leaving the Waverly Inn in NY and everything seemed to be going swimmingly with the two bantering back and forth. That is until an overly helpful photog let Hugh Grant know that he should be going the other way if he wanted to catch a cab. Hugh apparently didn’t like his condescending attitude so he turned around and booted him in the crotch. (Video here)
Damn photog. Quit patronizing Hugh Grant. He knows where to get a damn cab. He was just walking that way to, um, get some fresh air. Yea, that’s it. Damn jerks. I’d kick the helpful paparazzi too if I were him. Telling me where to go and shit.

Hugh Grant was spotted at Beatrice Inn last Friday night flirting with two women at the same time. Grant was pretty hammered, but managed to entertain a blonde and brunette in tandem.
“He could barely keep his eyes open,” said our spy. But he was awake enough to entertain two women “a brunette and a blonde,” said the snitch. “He would make out with one girl, then turn to the other.” Grant’s rep confirmed he was there but told us, “There was no kissing. This is complete rubbish.”
Congratulations to Hugh Grant. He’s just earned the Man Hero of the Day Award. An award I just made up to recognize his excellence. What an inspiration. It gives me something to look forward to for when I become famous. Which will be when I release my machine that warms up bread to any degree you want. I believe I shall call it a “toaster.” Wait. Aww, damnit.

Right when we were rooting for a potential Hugh Drew pairing comes a story that explains why the former co-stars fell so easily into each other’s arms - Grant is on the prowl. The 48 year-old quirky English bachelor was seen making out with two women at a bar in New York on Tuesday night, just one night after he was spotted getting overly affectionate with Drew Barrymore in public:
Hugh Grant is ?off again? with sometimes steady Jemima Khan. The quirky Brit was spotted at Meatpacking lounge Kiss & Fly smooching not one but two women Tuesday night.
?Hugh went straight to the bar and made out with a pair of girls for the entire evening,? snitches a spy.
?After drinking all night and not eating a thing, he just up and left alone, leaving both girls standing at the bar looking very confused.?

I know I’d make out with Hugh Grant at a bar if I were single. It’s kind of surprising and oddly endearing that Hugh didn’t take either or both of the women back to his hotel with him. I picture him pushing his hair back with his palm, mumbling his apologies and kind of shuffling out of there, head down, like a character in one of his films still pining for his ex girlfriend, a lovely British heiress he can’t get off his mind despite all his acting out. He might have resorted to hired help if hadn’t learned the hard way to stay away from hookers. Maybe his brush with the law 14 years ago and the resulting public embarrassment have made him too afraid to even have one night stands with willing 20 somethings.

Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant starred in the 2007 romcom Music and Lyrics. I don’t remember hearing rumors of a potential romance between them at the time, although critics praised their on screen chemistry. There may have been more going on between them then we’re aware of, because the two were recently seen making out at a restaurant in New York, if the NY Post is to believed:
Drew Barrymore is loving being single - and available. The “He’s Just Not That Into You” star has been linked with several men recently, but had her eye on her “Music and Lyrics” co-star, Hugh Grant, Monday night. According to spies, Barrymore got very excited when the Brit walked into the Waverly Inn. “She squealed and jumped in his arms,” a spy said. The two then “made out,” but Barrymore showed up to the Beatrice Inn by herself later to hang with Clive Owen. Maybe Hugh’s just not that into her.

Page Six is reporting this, so it’s possible these two shared a lingering hello kiss which turned into a makeout session in the retelling. Grant seems to have reconciled with his longterm girlfriend, Jemima Khan, as he’s been spotted out with her recently and is even said to have booked her favorite restaurant for Valentine’s day as a surprise.
If Hugh and Drew really did make out for a while, it seems they didn’t go farther with it that night as Drew was seen out somewhere else without Hugh later. Clive Owen is happily married with children so the fact that he was hanging out with Drew doesn’t mean much. I would have liked to have heard that Hugh and Drew are an item, though. They’re both single and cute and their names even rhyme. It’s not going to happen though, they’re too different for a relationship to translate off screen.
