It?s one of the music industry?s biggest nights of the year, and earlier this evening Emmy Rossum made her arrival at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards (May 19).
The ?Shameless? star came ready to have a great time and got all gussied up in some top-notch designer duds as she headed inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
While most of the emphasis will be on who wins and what they?re wearing, there?s also a stable full of top acts gearing up to take the stage for live performances.
Among those slated to rock are Lil Wayne, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Brown, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera with Pitbull, and Selena Gomez.

She?s always been easy on the eyes, and yesterday (March 12) Emmy Rossum attracted plenty of attention as she did some jewelry shopping in Beverly Hills.
The ?Mystic River? cutie showed off her lovely legs in a green leather miniskirt teamed with a flowing patterned blouse, grey jacket, and forest heels as she treated herself to some retail therapy.
And Emmy proved that she?s a natural beauty by wearing hardly any makeup and smiling brightly for the paparazzi that caught up with her.
Over the weekend, Emmy and her ?Shameless? boyfriend Tyler Jacob Moore were spotted having a blast at the Los Angeles Lakers basketball game.

These are photos of the lovely Emmy Rossum at the premiere of Beautiful Creatures, which is out next week. It’s a “supernatural love story” based on a young adult novel, and the plot sounds straight out of the CW. There are rings involved that turn color and change the wearer’s fate when they reach a certain age, and the female supernatural protagonist is struggling with young forbidden love before she learns what will happen to her. Anyway it will probably be a huge hit considering the subject matter, and Emmy is in it as one of the supernatural witches, or “casters.” It also stars Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson and Viola Davis. (The young couple are new actors I haven’t heard of before, Alice Englert and Alden Ehrenreich.)
Anyway Emmy wore this kind of formal cross-bodice black and white Andrew Gn gown which wouldn’t look out of place at the Academy Awards. It was a little stiff for a premiere, especially with her sophisticated hair and makeup, but it’s still amazing. She looks so well put together and just beautiful. I also like how she poses like she’s happy to be there but isn’t haughty about it. She’s not full of herself, and it shows.
I’m a huge fan of Emmy’s show “Shameless” on Showtime, having been turned on to it by an article on Pajiba. (I was going to take Kaiser’s lead and unsubscribe from Showtime after Homeland wrapped, but then Shameless pulled me back in.) Emmy plays the lead deftly, her character is a young woman who has been caring for her brothers and sisters after her mom left the family in the care of her alcoholic dad. (William H. Macy plays the dad, he’s awesome too, and also Joan Cusack is in it!) I was thrilled to learn, from last week’s US Weekly, that Emmy is currently dating her co-star, Tyler Jacob Moore. He plays Tony the cop on Shameless, and I won’t give more information or spoilers because I want you to check it out if you’re inclined. The show is so worth it.
Also, here’s Beautiful Creatures’ main star, Alice Englert, in Elie Saab. She’s 18. I thought this dress was way too frou-frou, but they like it over at Red Carpet Fashion Awards.

I don?t really have an opinion of Emmy Rossum. She seems saccharine but harmless, and while I would never have considered her a ?good? actress, she?s getting better-than-average reviews on Shameless, and she?s built a decent career for herself. So that was how I came into Emmy?s Self Magazine cover interview ? I thought she was sweet and harmless and somewhat ?normal?. But I was sort of taken aback by Emmy?s dieting and workout discussion. I mean, it?s Self so of course their cover star is going to be talking about diet and exercise, but I don?t really get Emmy?s system??
Her favorite workouts: “I like Physique 57, Burn 60 and SoulCycle or Flywheel, because I get positive energy from the people around me. You just can’t be the slacker. And I raise my hand like an idiot whenever the instructor asks if anyone is new to the class. I’m, like, ‘Yep, I’m the loser who hasn’t been here before.’ At least I’m not going to screw myself up by doing it wrong!”
Her quickie weight-loss workout: “When I want to drop weight quickly, I cut back on my cardio and do a lot of weights instead. It’s counterintuitive, because you would think, I should stay on the treadmill for five hours. I also cut out all fruit and eat a lot of protein and vegetables. My go-to moves are walking lunges, leg raises and my favorite: four sets of 15 ballet plis, holding 8-pound weights.”
She exercises every day: “If I’ve had a meh workout the day before, and I’m still not feeling it, then I’ll do another meh one that day, too. I think you should just do something every day.”
Her longterm goal: “I don’t want to do the Ironman or run 10 miles, but I do want to go up into space one day. It costs [hundreds of thousands] right now, but I hope eventually it will be $500. And I want to make sure my heart is fit enough to handle the trip when I’m 50.”
Her version of ?chaos?: “I don’t always make my bed. If my life is in a state of chaos, then I have to make it. But if I’m happy in my life, then I’m OK leaving a little chaos in my house.”
She has cheat days on her diet: “When I was filming Beautiful Creatures, I ate 1,500 calories a day?nutritionist Carrie Wiatt sent me meals from L.A. But I also gave myself two cheat days a week. I’d eat a steak and fries, an ice cream sundae and then go to Pinkberry. Of course, then I’d wake up the next morning and go, ‘Oh, great, I’m eating one poached egg and a green apple. Shoot me in the face.’ But it was totally worth it. Now I can gain back those 6 pounds that I had lost to do the movie.”
She was raised on a macrobiotic diet: “I was raised on a macrobiotic diet, so I was more interested in eating the junk food that other kids were eating, although I’d have to make sure my mom didn’t know. My mom has never owned a saltshaker. Now I have to sneak these contraband little salt packets from take-out restaurants into her house so that I can salt my food.”
Know your limits: “I’m not going to wake up like Gisele tomorrow. That’s just not going to happen. She’s a genetic freak?and stunning. I’m a human being. I’m fit because I make it a priority and it’s part of my job. I also try to stay confident, so 5 pounds up or down doesn’t affect my brain.”
Must love animals: “I don’t like a guy if he doesn’t like my animals. I have a dog, Cinnamon, and a cat.”
She likes where she is right now: “Right now I’m probably in the best shape that I’ve ever been in, although I don’t consider ‘best shape’ to necessarily mean the skinniest. I’ve been fatter and I’ve been skinnier than I am right now, but I’m more at peace than ever.”

Does anyone else think Emmy might benefit from hiring a trainer who actually knows what they?re doing? It seems like Emmy?s system is half-okay ? she?s mixing it up, she?s doing different things, she?s working out different ways and different parts of her body, which is great. But I was always taught that it?s important to let your body have a proper rest, and the idea should be to NOT work out every day. And the best way to be fit and strong is to weight train AND do cardio, and it?s weird that she would lose weight just by weight training. Also ? I think that being raised on a macrobiotic diet has really messed up her relationship with food as an adult, which is what I always say about Gwyneth Paltrow?s kids too. Gwyneth is basically pushing her severe food issues onto her children and it will affect their relationship to food into adulthood. Apple Martin will become like Emmy Rossum.

I’m reading Frank McCourt’s Angela’s Ashes right now, which is kind of pathethic because the book’s been out since 1996, and it’s taken me this long to get around to reading McCourt’s rather hilarious take on a poverty-filled Irish Catholic childhood spent at the mercy of an alcoholic father who often spent his paycheck at the pubs. Anyway, I’ve never seen Showtime’s “Shameless,” but the show’s description on the network website seems quite familiar (and like an updated, Americanized version) relative to McCourt’s book. But I could be wrong.
Emmy Rossum, star of Shameless (along with William H. Macy), covers the latest issue of Manhattan magazine in a series of glittering dresses and backdrops. The last time Kaiser wrote about Emmy, she made the hilarious observation that Emmy stood out quite a bit in a “one of these things is not like the other” sense in regard to the show’s trailer. Indeed, Emmy says she had trouble from the very beginning with the show’s producers, who refused to grant her an audition because she was too glamorous for the role of the Gallagher family’s eldest daughter, Fiona. Here are the relevant excerpts from Emmy’s interview:
She was so pretty she couldn’t get in the door: “They didn’t want to see me; they wouldn’t even [let me] audition, They thought my image too glamorous, that I couldn’t not be pretty.” She sent a tape of herself in character to the producers, and they were so impressed that she “flew out the next day” to meet them. Three auditions later, Rossum had the part, opposite William H. Macy — and let loose a string of expletives when she found out, which “only seemed to confirm [their] decision.”
She’s very different than Fiona: “I don’t let anything send me into a tailspin. I never have; it’s not in my nature. Fiona is very sexually liberated. She’s also a loudmouth, and there’s safety in that. But I’m not the sex-on-the-first-date kind of girl.”

Certainly, it’s easy to take Emmy’s words out of context and twist things around to make it seem like she’s complaining about being pretty and polished in real life, but obviously (at least from the stills I’ve seen), she has to undergo a pretty regimented makeunder while shooting the series. So what she says makes sense here.
Now how about this photoshoot? Emmy is certainly working the glamour in these slinky dresses, and the wind machine isn’t exactly working overtime. This luxury magazine shoot seems like a clear case of counterprogramming towards Shameless, but Emmy looks like she’s having a lot of fun with it.

This is a perfect example of why I feel that Emmy Rossum is a two face, one minute she’s absolutely gorgeous in her baseball cap and sundress, and the next she looks like a pissed off softball player arguing a call. I don’t get it, maybe I’m just being extra critical because I haven’t seen

While Alec Baldwin greets photogs by punching them in the face, Emmy Rossum greets photogs by going over and giving them some ice cream. While on break from filming episodes ofShameless, she bought three cones for the photogs. Surprisingly, not one of them shouted, “No sprinkles?! B*tch!,” and threw the cone to the ground.

I’ve never found Emmy Rossum particularly attractive, so I’m always pleasantly surprised to see what a terrific body she has. It’s like lifting up the couch cushion expecting to find a dead rat and finding a ten dollar bill instead.

The tag on these pictures say they’re from “A Night of Firsts” Golden Globe award season kick off party, which I have no idea what that’s supposed to mean, but I’m going to take it at face value because Emmy Rossum is nipping out. I’ve learned to not ask too many questions when good things fall into my lap, like “Oh that’s where I left that bottle of gin! I wonder how it got in my son’s toy box?” or, “I can’t believe that nice lady in Nigeria is going to give me all that money to do a money transfer for!” Strike while the iron’s hot, I always say. Or, in Ms. Rossum’s case here, while the air is cold.
