Rachel Bilson covers the August issue of British Cosmopolitan to promote her role in The To Do List, which I’ve never heard of, but it arrives in theaters on July 26 and also stars Johnny Simmons, Bill Hader, and Andy Samberg. It looks like a coming-of-age movie, and Rachel herself is looking much younger than her own 31 years on this cover. That dress is fun and flirty and not nearly as trashy as the clothing Cosmo usually features. The skirt is certainly short, but Rachel can get away with it with legs like that.
The interview isn’t very eventful, but Rachel does talk about how she’s grown out of her self-described “dumb ass” phase. She also discusses how violated she felt when her home was robbed by the teens that became the subject of Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring. Rachel isn’t thrilled about the movie at all, and I can see why she’d be upset (anyone, including myself, who’s been through a break-in will tell you that it results in feelings of incredible violation) even though Sofia’s intention was clearly more of a comment upon society than a way to “glorify” the events that took place:
Her secret career aspirations: “If I could karaoke duet with anyone, it would be Eminem. I secretly want to be a rapper.”
On The Bling Ring: “I thought it was weird to glorify something that was so upsetting for a lot of people. It’s important to detach from material things, but the special, personal things I lost are hard to forget.”
On her “wild phase” & a near-fatal car crash: “It definitely impacted me and how I was living my life. It was a wake-up call…I had no choice but to wake up and get with the program, but I think it set me in the right direction.”
On her subsequent “O.C” years: “I didn’t have any idea how much The O.C. would change my life. I thought I knew everything, but now I look back and think, ‘You were a dumb ass! What was your problem?’”
She’s getting older & wiser? “Thirty is a whole different thing; you can slow down and focus on family. Starting a family one day is definitely something I look forward to. My parents’ divorce didn’t make me cynical about love and marriage. I’ve always been a big romantic, and I look forward to all those things. I’ve been in a relationship [with Hayden Christensen] for six years, and I’m happy…To have a partner is one of the greatest things. I’ve always been a fan of love…I’m an emotional person; I go with my heart before my head every time!”

Certainly, Rachel’s been through a lot in her life, and it sounds like she and Hayden Christensen are in it for the long haul. There were even some rumors a few months ago that the pair had gotten engaged, but I don’t think anything came of that talk. Yet. Give it time.

Enjoying their vacation to the max, Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen did some shopping on Friday (April 19) in Barbados.
The happy couple walked hand-in-hand as they hit up Gatsby, while the ?Heart of Dixie? honey kept cool in a cream dress with black print.
Appearing on May?s cover of Cosmopolitan, the gorgeous actress spoke to the publication about making the duo?s long-time relationship a priority.
"I'm a really good girlfriend-- I always put all that first in my life. I'm definitely the person who would make him his favorite to come home to," Bilson explains. "I love to cook, so we make dinner at home a lot and watch movies."

Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen hit up the beach in Barbados yesterday. The photo agency said Rachel took some pictures of her friend posing with a small monkey. I looked at the tiny thumbnail and thought that was incredibly racist. Then I clicked the thumbnail. Turns out I might bethe incredibly racist one.

I just saw these super cute photos of Rachel Bilson frolicking on the beach in Barbados with her boyfriend of many years, Hayden Christensen, and I thought “please don’t let Hart of Dixie be over, please don’t let it be over” since I love that show and thought that this was some kind of promotion for the finale. But it’s not! There are four more episodes and I didn’t even see last night’s episode yet so there are five for me, yay! (If you like romcoms you will like Hart of Dixie, it’s dumb sometimes but it’s also campy and awesome.)
This is Rachel telling us that she’s available for work now that “Hart of Dixie” filming has wrapped (presumably) and that we should be paying attention to her. We are, and she looks super cute. I wish I had a body like that, damn. She looks thin but not emaciated and I’m surprised at how “curvy” she is, although she isn’t really curvy. I never knew what Dr. Zoe Hart was packing under those dress shorts.
This also might be Rachel, 31, announcing that she’s engaged! You know that Hayden Panettiere (there are too many Haydens in this story) recently did that, she staged some bikini photos to sort-of announce that she was engaged to Klitschko, that lucky bitch. I’m not jealous of Rachel or anything since Hayden C. is not that hot to me and he’s not a decent actor. (Gah, Star Wars.) But good for her, you know? She looks super happy and relaxed and I like that she’s not looking all haughty or posing with duck lips.
The last we heard of Rachel she was on Cosmo saying that she was a great girlfriend and she puts her man first. She said “I’m definitely the person who would make him his favorite dinner to come home to.” She also said she wanted kids and that “I definitely have family on the brain.” So is she engaged?! It’s not like she’s rocking a ring on the beach, but Hayden might have proposed on this romantic beach vacation. That’s what Wade would do, but [highlight for spoilers for past Hart of Dixie episodes] Zoe dumped that cheating bastard. She’s probably going to get with that new hot doctor dude, Jonah.
OMG look at this monkey pic!! I would be grinning like that around a little wet monkey too. That’s why she looks so thrilled.

Continuing to enjoy her time away from Tinseltown, Rachel Bilson frolicked on the sunny Barbados beach this afternoon (April 16).
The ?Hart of Dixie? actress rocked a tiny tan and black bikini that showed of her super fit figure while soaking up the tropical rays.
Rachel is on vacation with her longtime beau Hayden Christensen.
The Hollywood pair was recently photographed swimming in the ocean together and visiting with their pals while on their much-deserved holiday.

I’m a big “Hart of Dixie” fan, and I blame (thank really) The Fug Girls for turning me on to it. It’s a cheesy, predictable show but it has really likable characters set in an ideal southern small town, and it’s so charming. So that’s why I’m fond of Rachel Bilson, she plays the lead character, Dr. Zoe Hart, a New York city-based young doctor transplanted to the fictional town of Bluebell. She’s not a fabulous actress, but she’s cute and charming too, and I remember her well from The O.C. (Loved that show!)
All of that is preface to this Cosmo interview and cover with Bilson, in which they’ve released only a few quotes out of context. She comes across as annoying and kind of pollyanna-ish, but we don’t know what questions she was asked. Like maybe they asked her “Do you consider yourself a good girlfriend? Do you cook much?” Because otherwise her answers are sort of one-note:

Bilson on having kids: ?I definitely have family on the brain. Having kids is something I want to see in my future ? I hope.?

Bilson on what she wears for a hot date: ?Guys are so visual. I can never go wrong with a tight dress or a short skirt.?
Bilson?s response to a Cosmo Quiz question: If I could do a karaoke duet with anyone, it would be ?Eminem?, and we would sing ?anything. I secretly want to be a rapper.?

She sounds to me like her character on Hart of Dixie, or maybe I have a hard time separating her from Zoe Hart. The stuff about guys being visual sounds like something Zoe would say, like advice she would give to her little teenage friend, Rose. Zoe is always wearing tiny dress shorts after all.
The other stuff, about how she’s a great girlfriend and puts her boyfriend first is also something that Zoe would say. I swear that was a plot for the show one week, when Zoe was trying to support Wade and being super agreeable and it just backfired on her since Wade found her bizarre. In that context, these quotes make sense. Plus it’s Cosmo, they’ve been working to appeal to a younger audience and they may have coached Rachel, or otherwise distilled her quotes into the most basic. “Put your boyfriend first! Cook for him! Wear tight dresses and short skirts!” I hope Rachel is more nuanced than this, because even her goofy show acknowledges that this kind of attitude can only get you so far.
Getting back to Rachel, she’s been with Hayden Christensen since at least 2007 and they got engaged in 2009, broke up in 2010, and then got back together in 2011. So maybe Rachel is angling for a ring again with all this talk about babies and how she’s a great girlfriend. I don’t know much about Hayden except that he’s a homebody and lives on a farm. If Zoe pressured her down-home boyfriend to propose, it would backfire.
